Issues with my dell streak - General Questions and Answers

i have tried the way of flashing streakMod recovery image as specified and ran the provided commands aswell and did everything exactly to the point yet when i select option 2 i.e., "software upgrade via update.pkg on sd card " it takes a while but comes up with the screen
" the android system utility - GAUSB1A135100
to perform an emergency software recovery . you will need to
insert a micro SD card containing an update file. (/sdcard/update.pkg)
to download an update and for future instructions, visit
http ://support.dell.com
hold the up volume button to reboot the phone."
i also tried renaming the package to update.pkg yet it boots into the screen as though its taking an update and says signature verification failure and then again reboots to the phone to my froyo 2.2.2
currently
the baseband im using is : GAUSB1A135100-AWS
Kernel version : 2.6.32.9-perf
build : 15609
unfortunately i cannot take screenshot of my mobile screen.
please guide me in the correct direction as to what need to be done furthur as i have tried the clockworkMod recovery and ROM manager and streakMod revovery too.
any help would be much appreciated as i am trying to upgrade a custome ROM of longhorn 2.9.1 and its been 4 days now i keep circelling around for a break through.

[Q] android tab 10 help

hello,
i ve' bought a tab from ebay. i don't like how it moves and tried to install an other image. searched on few forums, but can't find any good help.
pls help me with a custom image that work on my tablet.
here are the info's from "about device":
Model number: Android Tab 10
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #137
Android version: v 2.3 2011-09-01 (001112)
Build number: FRF85B
tried to install Tim6a or other from SD, but the tablet won't enter in recovery mode. the tablet i see that is rooted (or not?), tried many combinations (power+vol up, power+menu, etc), but no luck.
installed superuser, received the message su is outdated, tried to update, but say "seems to have write permission on system like s-on". how can i s-off? with unrevoked forever?
pls help me, because my wife is very uppset of me spending a lot of time with this tab to "tune"...
thx.
calin.
p.s.: is the model with only one tf card slot, 512m ram and 4g hdd (SD CARD)
nobody?
ok, i answer myself: if you want to enter in recovery mode, press "home+back+power" it in couple of seconds you will see a message to tell you to push the right combination to enter in recovery mode in less than 5 seconds; this combination is home+back. then you are in recovery mode.
btw, i'm stuck here: entered in recovery, tried a lot of rom's (tim6, flanflingers, etc) in a lot of formats (android folder, separate img files, 2 firmware files, etc) but allways receive a message: "extracting data failed, please check your zsys.img".
where is the problem?

Clockworkmod boot loop after OTA update

Hi, this is my first time to post here but i really need help, I installed ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.4.5 on my LG Optimus L3 E400, I used ROM Manager to install it. but then sometime a while ago, i accidentally selected Update Software on my phone software update option, Now I was stuck at the Clockworkmod recovery screen. I panicked and wipe data factory reset, but still it goes back to CWM. then I tried backup and then restored it afterwards it said restore complete with no error but still goes back to recovery. I also tried KDZ updater with no luck so far. I also tried wiping up everything and restore with no success..Please help
LG E400 ClockWorkMod Recovery Boot Loop
Hello, another android noob here, for 5days stuck with the same problem as TS, and anyone else using the LG (e400) update on CWM atleast v5.8.4.5
* i know this is also discussed in : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610666&page=39, but more centralized would suit this forum, and help a lot of others i think ?
ive tried....
restoring the backup i created with the LG PC Suite software, no luck..
using the lg mobile support tool to restore, error: version not supported !?
installing the following zip's using CWR install from sdcard, except not fixing the boot-loop, the following installed without any problems
stockrom+.zip
stock_recovery_restorer.zip
cm-9-20120831-NIGHTLY-e400.zip
these failed with error:
uninstall-CWR.zip error: error in uninstall-CWR.zip (file on HD seems ok, redownloaded anyway, no change)
CWM-Installer-E400.zip error: installation aborted
LG_E400_Stock_Recovery+MountPoints.zip error: installation aborted
then i tried....
ADB fastboot , after: adb reboot-bootloader , the com4 connection in "xp: devices: ports" disappears, and adb devices + fastboot devices cant find the phone
last 5 lines on phone itself:
udc.start
reset
portchange
reset
portchange
* the phone hasnt crashed at this point, each time when i reconnect the usb it will reset and portchange (twice)
* a few times i got past this, and got:
STALL GET_DESCRIPTOR 128 6 1006 018
reset
portchange
reset
portchange
* since i couldnt install the sdk/extra/google usb drivers (error: contains no info for your hardware), ive tried with these usb drivers:
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6.exe
LGUnitedMobileDriver S4981MAN37AP22 ML WHQL Ver 3.7.2.exe
* adb interface in devices shows: AndroidNet Sooner Single ADB interface
then i tried the KDZ_FW_UPD.exe option to flash : V10I_00.kdz , didnt work
found another KDZ option for lg (LgFlashPackacge) on acidhazardRom with: UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe, that also didnt work
both end with (loose translation from dutch) : error in MOD UpTextEx MFC Application, program terminated
ive also been reading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186406&page=5
* the battery loading animation hasnt been showing since the cwr boot-loop started
thinking about trying a new xp install (Again), but im hoping there is some fault in my previous work, or something else i didnt try !?
im about to give up on this and send the phone to LG, but that would feel like a defeat
LG e400 Boot Loop after LG Update
ive tried the options again...and wrote down some more info, i also reinstalled a clean XP : SP3 (incl all updates, except powershell)
installed: LG Mobile support tool incl designated lg drivers
it all looks fine, connects and will detect the phone model, but when "checking software version"
(still in the analysis screen) it stops with "Software update is not supported for this model"
*im guessing thats because of the cwm recovery ?
ADB Fastboot
installed: java - jre-7u5-windows-i586-iftw.exe
adb devices will only show my lg when in recovery menu
adb reboot-bootloader
the screen starts with: USB Init , then a lot of data pases like userdata, persist, cache and tombstones
(they all share status 0x0 <- if that means anything to anyone ?)
fastboot erase recovery and fastboot flash recovery recovery.img both end with [waiting for device]
fastboot devices, produces nothing (not even an error)
KDZ
edit: with msxml 4.0 SP3
once i plug in the usb the phone will show the LG logo, i cant mannualy put it in emergency mode
ive tried using kdz on the lg-logo and cwm recovery screen, i also tried Diag and Emergency modes,
the whole process always looks fine, there are no error lines in the logs, althoug it doesnt seem like a problem,
there is only one blank line:
Param : moduleDir =
all logs end with:
23:00:27 : Step Complete : UPDATE FINISHED!
23:00:27 : ResetStartInfo() Call
23:00:27 : _DetachDLL Call
23:00:27 : _DetachDLL Call End
23:00:27 : FreeLibrary Call
23:00:27 : FreeLibrary Call End
23:00:27 : ResetStartInfo() Call End
23:00:27 : ===FINISHED===
then i get the MOD UpTextEx program terminated error, i can still access the KDZ_FW_UPD.exe till i close the error window
edit: also tried...
- as very 1st step to restore the cwm backup
- adb + kdz under Vista
- lg mobile support tool, emergency mode under support option, gives another version error on entering imei or serial
I just wanna ask ..
Where does your phone stuck? In Clockwork recovery or in the LG's logo screen? What version of windows are you using?

ClockWorkMod Rom Tools Recovery
ive been working with pc's for over 20years, doesnt matter how you mess up ..theres an easy fix, i was approaching my little LG with the same trust of available tools
ironically, i had installed the Clockworkmod ROM Tools as a safeguard, since i kept reading that its backup was the best
my lesson learned:
since you can backup your stuff and recover with the LG tools, and use other apps for the other functions, theres no point in risking bricking your phone ....when you dont really need it
also im glad i choose to buy an LG since -apparently- i can still send my phone for repair without any costs, considering it all, thats a great service ...almost a miracle
ill keep lurking to see the Cyanogenmod progress, which ill probably install with a multiboot app instead of CWM
feel free to disagree / discuss my opinion
can you please share your back-up please?:crying:
Same problem here! I don't know why on earth I tried to do the OTA update...
exitrecovery.zip didn't help either.... damn
EDIT: Did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610666&page=43 and got it working again!!!
The same problem but I didn't no how to fix it!
Hi guys:crying:,
I do have te same problem of you have to but I doesn't know how to fix it.
From google I have found this tread and that's why I've become a member.
All what you guys said, I doesn't understand how t ofix it by myself with the same way too.
Can anybody please tell me a easier way for a beginner as I am?
Thanks already!
Sorry for bad English.

[Q] Haipai i9389 (MTK6589) Recovery?

Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.
first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.
Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.
replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!
Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!
The sd holder broke off, can i buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1379198350&sr=8-1 the galaxy s3 i9300 sd card slot holder and put it on my haipai i9389? or do i need specific haipai i9389 sd card slot holder.

[Q] Updating ROM for HDC Galaxy S5 G9000

I have purchased a Chinese HDC Galaxy S5 G9000. It is a dual sim. From the start only face camera works. The first sim card is recognized by cannot place a call with it. When calling it does not dial and then hangs off.
I contacted the Technical service of the company which sold me the phone, and directed me to update ROM and flash tool. Unfortunately their flash tool works only with Windows (which I don't have), and everything is Chinese (which I don't know). I have tried to update the ROM using recovery. In the menu there is an option to update from sdcard. When I use that option and select the new ROM it starts "updating" but after a few seconds I get the message "updating (or operation, not very sure) aborted".
I have tried with ADB (on Ubuntu 12.04). I have succeeded in rooting the phone using fastboot. I have also managed to flash boot.img. But when trying to flash System.img, it takes hours, and at the end I get the message "Failed.... can't find device" or similar. And here I cannot see the device until I remove the phone from the computer and put it again.
I have also tried to update the ROM using ROM manager. But I get the same message: "operation aborted"
Can any one help
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Flashing from recovery is generally not an option
SPFlash tool is available for Linux - I can't post a link but check the forums (thread 2650125) or google it up.
There are heaps of stock and custom RoM's over at needrom dot com .. and most of these have great instructions on how to flash for this phone - Just search for G9000.
Good Luck

Are you able to access fastboot mode from bootloader menu?
If no, Enable USB Debugging in Developer Options from Settings.
Make sure you have your phone's drivers installed in your phone.
Install Minimal ADB and fastboot.
Then connect your phone to PC. Open the shortcut of Minimal ADB and fastboot.
Type:
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
From here, now you can boot up CWM.img and do whatever flashing you want from the tutorials you saw.
