[***] how i got my [4g]roove back - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

HOW I GOT MY [4G]ROOVE BACK:laugh:
0.) Make sure to have the back already removed from the phone, and read steps BEFORE starting the process of going through the next 15 steps [note: you will still be roaming, but fixed my data].
1.) Factory Reset via the Backup & Restore section of System Settings.
2.) Phone should Reboot on its own; manually Reboot if not.
3.) Dial *2767*3855# which will factory wipe the device [this includes ALL SD Card Data].
4.) When the phone begins to Reboot itself, watch for the blue LED indicator light to turn off.
5.) After the blue LED turns off, but before the phone begins to start up again, pull the battery out of the phone [ignore the warning that shows on the screen while wiping the device].
6.) Place battery back into phone, and hold Volume DOWN + Power + Home buttons until the phone boots into Download mode for use with ODIN [I used version 3.07].
7.) Using Odin, install root66's rooted stock via the PDA selection option [if this fails, try again - I personally had to do this 3 times].
8.) The phone will Reboot as soon as the ODIN flash completes, and it is likely that you will get stuck at the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE boot animation. When this happens, pull out the battery again.
9.) Once more, place battery back into phone, but now hold Volume UP + Power + Home buttons until the phone boots into the stock recovery [this looks much like CWM with some different options].
10.) Choose the option to Wipe Data, and then run the Wipe Cache Partition option second.
11.) Select the first option to Reboot System Now, and wait for the phone to boot [this WILL take some time, so please wait for the full process to be completed; if you see the boot animation screen dim the display or vibrates slightly after a bit of waiting, you are on the right path].
12.) Allow the phone to finish starting into the language selection screen, hit next now, and again when the Phone Activated screen shows.
13.) Now, press the home button to get to the stock launcher desktop, where you should see the roaming notification in the Status Bar.
14.) Open the Status Bar, and press the roaming notification. When asked to accept roaming, choose the option to always access [this should not cause you to incur charges for roam, if in the US].
15.) Wait a few minutes, and if everything worked for you as it did with me, data should be fixed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your still showing "roaming" data correct?
Did you lose your IMEI or just odd data connectivity?

I am still roaming technically, but every time I lose 3G/4G, I do this and it comes back. The IMEI shows as 0 in settings, but Phone Info app shows it as it should. Very strange. I don't know about everyone else on here, but I went to 4 different stores, and they all told me I would need to go through the insurance and pay $100 to get a replacement for my 18 day old phone. I just posted this for anyone who want the functionality to work, and is still trying to hold out for an actual IMEI fix, since I figure a lot of non-developers out there such as myself know enough about their devices to be able to follow what I had done.

Can't reset G1 w/ Cyanogen

A few months ago a friend, who's very familiar with flashing G1's helped me flash mine to the Cyanogen 5.0.7.05 mod. After making a phone call today I now have no phone or data service. On top of that, when I go into the storage section there is no option to reset the phone. How do I reset the phone with this mod?

1) Turn the phone off.
2) Turn it on by holding Home + Power
3) You should get into a recovery console. Depends on which your friend decided to flash, but to wipe either scroll down to wipe or hit "ALT + W"
- It'll ask you to confirm by hitting the Home key.

Thanks I did that a few hours ago when my friend told me, but its not fully reseting the phone. After I come back to the screen for the initial login I still don't have phone/data signal, and the background pic I put up is still on there, so its not doing a full data erase. Pretty weird.

Try reflashing the ROM or upgrading to a newer one and then wiping.
Another thing you may want to try is completely clean off your SD card with the exception of the files you are going to flash. THEN try to flash/wipe.

Hard reset not working (among other things) on samsung captivate - please help!

I got carried away there, so I'll summarize:
Yesterday most of the apps on my phone started crashing. I tried clearing from recovery mode, but nothing went away. Today, I've tried to reflash to stock to get the phone completely clean, but also no good. Even using master clear and reflashing the rom doesn't clear the phone out. Everyone says it works, but the applications are all still there after the reboot, except now they all crash, including launcherpro, leaving me no way to do anything at all on the phone
I'm desperate because my phone is currently unusable. Please help!
Update: I found another method for doing it, listed below, which worked. Still no data though
Anyone have any ideas what might have happened/how I can fix?
2.- :::: CAPTIVATE HARD RESET :::
captivate must be powered OFF to perform this reset, If the device is on, turn it off
- Press and hold both volume buttons + -
- While holding down volume buttons + -, press the power button while maintaining the volume buttons pressed in for around 5 seconds
- Release volume buttons but, keep the power button pressed
- you'll see at&t start up animation release power button
- menu appears
- follow instructions using volume buttons
delete cache data, press power
delete all user data, press power
reboot system, press power
*** (optional) turn off the phone, put my sim card back, turn the phone on
Holy crap... I don't know what's wrong now... I did "Delete user data" and "delete cache" from the boot menu, and STILL everything is there!
What is wrong with my phone?
reflashing to stock... hopefully this does the trick...
ok I went through the process of flashing to stock, and it said it worked, but the old applications are still there!
Now, when I reboot, I get a ton of force close messages; presumably everything that normally would be launching on startup.
how do I actually clear this device and get it back to stock?!
for reference, here's the page I used:

Hey there,
I'm afraid this won't help much, but in the end I had to call the AT&T warranty department and get a replacement phone. There's a 1 year on the phone, and while I had to jump through some hoops, they did replace it. If you're within 30 days then you're definitely in luck, as you can take it back to the store you bought it at
Good luck!

S7 crashes on boot. No response to input. Drain to 0% to power on again.

It started a few days ago, I was testing a cardboard/gear vr unity game and the screen would turn black but the buttons were responsive and I could get it to hard reboot or make it come back again after plugging it back into the gear. I looked around but couldn't find anything that resembles my issue.
Now as soon as it boots it goes into a black screen after samsung and carrier logos show, i sometimes get a glimpse of the lock screen and respond to some input.
The phone is still on, I can feel the battery warm.
-No response to any input. Not even pwr+vol down.
-PC won't detect it when plugged.
-No lights on charging.
-I need to let it fully drain for it to shut down and try anything again.
-Did a factory reset from recovery mode, wipe cache. Still the same.
-No root.
-There was an update that may have installed overnight but can't confirm because can't access system info.
EDIT: New find! when booting to recovery, goes into "Installing Update" and then "No command".
Any thoughts??
Is there some pc software that i can use to try to reinstall firmware? Something like SEUS for sony phones back in the day?
Is odin safe or should i look into a samsung official tool? I've never used odin so i'm not sure of it's capabilities (this is my first sammy phone, I had it to get to test gear vr apps)
Sorry for the long post but wanted to get all the info out there.
Thanks!
Can you enter "Download Mode"? (By rebooting and pressing HOME + VOLUME DOWN)
If yes, I suggest that you try, as you suggested, reinstalling your firmware.
You will have to know your carrier, or specific phone model (G930X, where X represents carrier letter (Example: T for T-Mobile) )
Modified Odin (by PrinceComsy): https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177749
Then I suggest downloading firmware from https://SamsungBay.com as all other sources restrict download speed (So it takes a minimum of 13 hours).
https://samsungbay.com/download-firmware/?device=&model=sm-G930&firmware=
Once you have Odin and Firmware, load the correct files.
(AP_G930X), (BL_G930X), (CP_G930X), and (CSC_G930X) into Odin.
Power off phone, and boot into download mode (Pressing HOME + VOLUME DOWN)
N.B/ You will lose all your phone data, sadly, but it seems you've already wiped it.

HELP! HTC U11+ Just won't turn on!

I've been using HTC U11 Plus as my main phone since the day it came out. I absolutely love this phone. In my opinion it's the best phone I've ever had. I never felt the need to get a new phone. I've been gaming, working, etc. and I never had any issue with it.
Two days ago all of a sudden while using my phone it got stuck. None of the button were working and the screen also had response so I pressed and hold the Power button and Volume Down button to boot into recovery mode. So i could clear cache and reboot again but my phone doesn't seem to reboot. It just turns off when I select reboot now. I even tried "Wipe data/factory reset from the Recovery menu options" and then delete all user data option and then Reboot system now to restart your phone. Still no luck. As soon as I press on reboot system my phone just turns off and doesn't reboot or turn on at all.
Even when I put my phone on charging there is not light to indicate that my phone is charging at all.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Same problem here... Screen flashed white, phone rebooted to encryption screen to enter pin, then powered off... Hasn't been back on since (thins happened in October 2021).
I'm interested in a possible way to get the data off the phone, even if some parts swapping is involved.
PS. I changed the battery thinking it was that, but the phone still isn't coming on or showing the red battery charging light.
I guess it is time for you both to use ADB. When installed properly you should be able to see your phone in device manager on Windows systems. That in itself would be a good starting point. Or just fire up ADB and check if ADB detects your phone. If you are unfamiliar with ADB, Google it.
In ADB use: *.\adb devices* (without the *) If it works properly you should get a return with a device number. You could then flash a boot image or system image or both and see if your phone start's up again.
Hello,
same Issue here.
Solution is to heat up the Phone above 50°C and hold the temperature while it run and copy Data.
I have spend 40h+ to Backup Data and heat up the Phone.
Seems for me to the same problem like the RROD at Xbox360.
Lead-Free solder at the BGA-Chips.

Wipe a non-booting / screen damaged S7+ Edge

Hi all
My missus dropped her old s7+ edge years ago now and while the screen isnt cracked or anything whatever she did it just caught it at the wrong angle or something. The screen kinda works but its all messed up with very faint boot logos and stuff - I cant really see the android recovery comming up so cant select wipe/factory reset for example
Anyway its never been able to boot since. I was going to throw it out as not worth repairing. But Ive just connected to windows and the device is showing up in Device Manager
Just wondering if there was some kind of windows app to wipe the phone or something
Or am I best putting a hammer to it?
Thanks

If USB debugging wasn't enabled in the device's system settings and if you can't unlock the lock screen, you won't be able to use a PC to wipe the device.
If you can find a screenshot of what the stock recovery screen looks like on your specific model number of S7+ edge, you can use the screenshot to see the order of the options in your stock recovery and count how far down the list the factory reset option is. Boot into your stock recovery, you may not see it but it is probably still booting into it, then you can use the volume up/down button to go up or down the list. If factory reset is the second option, in your screenshot, press volume down once to select it then press the power button to initiate the wipe, if factory reset is the 3rd option, press volume down twice then press power, if it is 4th on the list, press volume down three times then press power, and so on. If you find the correct screenshot to guide you and if you use the buttons to correctly select the factory reset option this should wipe your device whether you can see what is going on or not.
Or
If you can boot into download mode, you can flash the newest version of your stock firmware for your specific model number of S7+ Edge, there should be two CSC files in your firmware, when you flash the firmware files, use the CSC file that does not have Home in its name, it will wipe the device when you flash it, if you use the Home CSC, it will not wipe the device.
