those links dont quite work for me but i can download it when navigating manually over the asus homepage ..
When accessing downloads i had to choose "other" under os and then i could download it
Nice.. Unlocked and loaded! Now give us some custom roms!
<POUNCE> <wild look on face> <runs off to unlock>
THANKS for the heads-up!
Thanks Zeus!
Ace, just noticed myself as well. Can't wait to get home now ^^ Darn work -.-
Is the device wiped when using this (like fastboot oem unlock does on my Galaxy Nexus)?
That is a pretty stern warning that they post for this file. Is there really no way to get back to an original locked state if we unlock our bootloader? I would really hate to unlock and then have a hardware issues that required service as my warranty would be void (according to Asus, anyway).
I guess until there are custom ROMs available, there really isn't much reason to unlock yet anyway, right?
Thanks to the OP for spotting this! I'm guess that custom ROM's with OC'd kernels, etc will be coming soon!

Correct.
As for the warranty loss, it is pretty heavy, yeah. But if there is an actual hardware failure that couldn't possibly be related to the bootloader unlock and flashing custom ROMs, maybe they'll still fix it if you RMA it? Not sure how it's been done for the Prime or TF300.
It would give Asus a great amount of good-will at least. I guess they'd consider it on a case-by-case basis.

I had unlocked, s-off-ed, rooted, flashed custom roms, tweak cpu to max possible and what not on my HTC Desire phone....and it was on repair for 4 times now. Never had a case anyone said anything because of that. Why? Because the first thing the do is reset the phone to factory default (which effectively means its like brand new) and they cannot even tell it was anything different.
Of course this goes true for any HW issue like broken screen, back panel, motherboard etc...cause phone/tablet is not working and they can't even boot it or whatever. Another things are minor issues when you can still do pretty much everything except that what is broken (let's say headhone jack doesn't work and sound is not heard on your headphones, you can't hear the caller or vice versa), but usually with any unlocking, rooting etc SW there is always their counterpart, so you can usually always revert back to what it was. At least I have such experiance. Maybe I only had luck.
I am pretty sure I have fried my motherboard or cpu 2 times. No problem...
Yeah, but in this case it's slightly different since you're "registering" with Asus directly to unlock the bootloader of the device. I assume this involves the serial number of the device, which means they can easily track it and flag it if it's RMAed for some reason.
But yeah, here's hoping they'll at least honor it for obvious hardware faults that can't be related to the bootloader being unlocked.
Awesome find. Unlocking now!

Since this unlocking tool seems to download stuff, doesn't it mean that it could perform different things from the TF300 version ?
Great news, thanks!!!
So, one valid question to ask: does unlocking and flashing CWM recovery mean we cannot use blob updates from ASUS anymore? I can remember this was the issue with some devices before, but I may be confusing things.

I'm hoping that this isn't something dumb on my part, but my touchscreen only worked for about an hour and then it just stopped working after that - I had it in sleep mode for awhile. I tried a data wipe and even drained the battery dry, but so far no change.
Has anyone seen this issue? I'm hoping it's something fixable and not a hardware problem. Or if anyone has any other ideas, that would be appreciated -- thanks! I'm also trying to track down that new update to see if maybe that might help me.

I say return it and get a new one, think you got an unlucky one.
try pressing and holding both the power button and the volumn button together until it shuts down
I don't have mine yet so can't comment on what's going on. But hopefully you are right in that it is software issue rather than hardware. Were you rooted?

Not even rooted. I had used it for about 20 minutes, put it in sleep mode, then tried it a few hours later and the touchscreen stopped working.
I also tried the Modaco update (later on), but that doesn't reflash everything - it's more of a supplement (I made nandroid backup so I can undo).

Dang... Get a new one! Glad to see you on this device, not going to lie. I was about to pull the trigger on a vgt until i heard about this device.
Other than the fact that the touchscreen is borked , it seems very nice. A little larger than the Xoom, but feels lighter. Screen ratio seems similar.
I was hoping to do some screen comparisons versus the Xoom, to see if this IPS is superior. Kinda hard to do that now - my hope was that this would replace my slow but reliable R10.

I was going to do the same thing that I did with the Xoom, which is post on Slatedroid and then link from here - in my mind, the sharing of knowledge being the most important thing. But I don't think XDA rules permit that unless I support both areas - I think I could manage that, though.
Of course, my device is in no shape for any modding right now. Still, I might try a Ventana image just for the heck of it. I'd just like to know if my problem is hardware based or not.

He's a troll, I suggest putting him no ignore.
This is a set of rooted and unrooted Odin One-Click Packages. If you're unfamiliar with these, it is the factory firmware loaded in a compacted version of odin and flashing is executed in a single click. No need to check boxes, or worry about what slots to load etc. I do not own this version of the s3 so these have not been tested. They're packed in self-extracting 7z archives. They will not affect your flash count.
Windows PC with Samsung Drivers installed is required.
Shouldn't be any problems but I am not responsible for any that may arise.

Main reason being is that sxtpdevelopers is the only reason I got the tools and instructions to make these. In addition to that, sextape is a big contribitor to alot of great stuff including most of the leaks we recieve and the site survives off of ads and donations so I do what I can to increase traffic. Being a sprint user I am not 100% on how the locked thing works. To my understanding tho you needed something special for an unlocked bootloader to flash so there was no way to load it into this. So no

So now that we have S-Off, I decided to do a bit of research on how to get rid of the red HTC disclaimer and the word "Tampered" from the bootloader screen.
Seems that there is only one way to get rid of "Tampered" and that's to re-lock your bootloader and then flash a RUU.
Whether the word stays gone after you re-flash a custom recovery and ROM/kernel I can't say for sure.
As far as the HTC disclaimer you see on boot-up, It can only be removed by flashing a RUU. As soon as you flash a custom recovery, it'll come back.
I found a thread called RegawMOD which allows you to either delete that red text or change it to whatever you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739314
They also have a thread that has instructions on how to make a plugin for your device so that you can also use his tool for your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776900
And yet another thread with a list of current plugins. Maybe one could be used as a template for us?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786498
I would absolutely love to see this tool become a reality for oneS users and I know I'm not alone in this.
Would probably donate if it worked perfect without issue.

It's entirely possible. But I had triple checked it. So you might think that everything is correct, and then try it, and you have with you a paperweight.
And when you don't have the money to get it fixed, it's going to prove difficult getting it done freely.

I just saw..
The bigger issue is that they are not making a tablet to replace this one and are only maybe making a new portable it passed FCC but that does not mean it will get made. I am hoping shield TV sales are doing well enough or we might instead see the shield line get dropped entirely and if that happens forget getting 7 or any other patches first party anything like that will be 3rd party so none of the cool 1st party things in these roms...
My issue is Nvidia is doing a dumb move they can't keep the tablets on the shelves. If they updated the tablet but kept the same price point they would still sell almost faster than they could make them...

I'm working on it, no gurantees though
my biggest issue is going to be unless nvidia does 7 then we wont be getting optimized drivers or any 1st party features
The shield is an interesting case because it's almost entirely pure Android, and the fact that we got 6.0 so quickly alongside the other Nexus devices makes it seem like, to me, that it's an unofficial equivalent to a Nexus 8 tablet since Google doesn't make a Nexus 8.
That could also be a coincidence seeing that the shield is nvidia's only Android device which might explain why they're so quickly able to build the latest versions of Android for this device when you see other devices either never getting official upgrades or are heavily delayed.
Also since the base hasn't changed too drastically it seems possible that it might just be very easy for them to port over the build features like console mode and whatnot between versions, whereas something like touch wiz is obviously much more complex.
Therefore it almost seems like it would be silly for nvidia to not update their device to 7.0, even with the NX around the corner, seeing as that's likely to become the next generation of shield tablet, per say. They might as well pop out this update in the mean time and leave it there. I mean all the Nexus devices get updated at the same time and basically have the same exact code anyways!
If it wasn't for the fact, as I've been hearing at least, that Google and nvidia are dropping support I'd say we'd be getting it for sure. However my hopes are high and I still think we probably will since it's truly such an optimized OS and would pull every last bit of performance left in this device. We'll see for sure in the coming weeks. Cheers

Why would you want Nougat?
What's the point of updating software when the hardware remains the same?
Look how slow MM is..

New software can fix old bugs compatibility issues and make the software run faster. The same is true with an operating system.

Why are you even on XDA?
For rooting? If so, why change the software if the hardware is the same?
Can't find a spot to post this. Since Mix 2s is new, I suppose this is the right spot?
Anyway, here's the new phone
https://www.mi.com/blackshark/
It's about USD$480 for 8/128GB Snapdragon 845.
Comes with water cooling!

Yesterday I went to the release conference in Beijing, China. It's said that it's designed for games, but there's some serious problems on GPU control.
GPU performance is seriously limited for having longer battery life and better CPU performance, which is because some really popular Chinese games demands more CPU performance rather than GPU performance.
Photo quality is terrible, comparing to other phones you can get today.
The ROM,"Joy UI",is actually form Coolpad, and you can not get the bootloader unlocked officially. That is especially unfriendly to a developer.
(sorry for my poor English)

Oh my, it wouldn't be very useful if the bootloader cannot be unlocked. I guess it's still a good try for Xiaomi given their track record of providing value for money hardware.
Thanks for the background and your English is fine :good:
Hi Guys ..
So, what do you advise buy it or not. Moreover, can someone tell if there will be a custom ROMs or not?!!
Thanks.

I wouldn't buy it. It's ugly as hell, there are other comparable phones for nearly the same price. The bootloader is as far as I know not unlockable -> no custom Roms and if it is unlockable nearly noone outside China will buy that phone -> no developers for custom Roms

GMS installing might be a problem.
No Chinese Android phone has GMS pre-installed.
We have to use a VPN to visit Google and GMS installed ourselves. This phone cannot be rooted up to now. So how you solve this problem?

Hi I got it working no problems. If you use the individual install files from the Mi Mix 2S MIUI forum everything works. Using the V2 or V3 google installer and calendar won't work.

I think it will be possible, because there's an OEM unlocking switch in the developer options, literally stating it allows the bootloader to be unlocked.
Also, when I boot by pressing power and both volume buttons, releasing only power when the S logo shows up, he goes to a black screen, from which he only boots when you keep the power button alone pressed for a good 5 seconds, similar to a dowload mode.
Could it be it has a download mode with black display?
You can't unlock the bootloader, because you don't know where to start. Nobody tried to unlock newer Xiaomis the unofficial way. It is way to complicated and the Black Shark is of no interest to people outside of china.
But, if there is anybody out there, i'm glad to help, as i do own a Black Shark myself.

I'd like to know about the cooling system, does it really cool well in heavy gaming? Do you feel the difference?
Could someone, please, upload rom dump of "Black shark" ?

I have one, if you tell me how to do that I will
Water cooling makes no difference at all: same throttling like my mix 2s. No rom dump possible as fastboot is not working properly. Device will not be detected.
Will sell it asap.

If you have something else, could you post the link to it?
Thank you.
ive mine for a couple of days now...i jump from huawei M10 pro to this BS and notice the different in term of performance obviously...for the temp BS performing well under load on pubg with highest setting compared to M10 pro with avg temp 70c on gamemode and keep prompt overheating each time played...BS are comfortable in hand coz it have thick bezel both side compare to the device have thin bezel all around make ur hand less fatigue on gaming...but the case feel cheap coz might easily break for some area...
Anyone has a way to unlock bootloader Black Shark yet?
I'm really sad because Xiaomi doesn't concern about Black Shark's users

Xiaomi's Black Shark is aimed at gamers specifically, not developers and custom ROM enthusiasts, I don't think it's a case of they don't care I think it's just intended for gaming, nothing more...
