Soft Reboot? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

In most Samsung phones, there is a button configuration you can do (three finger reboot windows) to soft reboot the phone without a battery pull.
The Fascinate was volume up and power.
Does anyone know what it is on the GS3?
Thanx

Just hold down the power until it reboots. No extra buttons required anymore.

Does this work for anyone running the latest stock build (VRALHE)? I've tried it on two phones running that build and it doesn't work for me. So either I'm doing it wrong or something is up.

sounds like your power button is going(acts as if stuck sometimes). my power button is gone. in fastboot/bootloader i have to tap the back of my phone by the power button to get it "unstuck" so that the volume keys work.
Exactly. The power button is virtually dead. I am hoping to get it replaced by one of the guys on here just waiting to hear back. So if the power button is stuck then the volume keys dont work in fastboot? Very interesting.

Hi,
4EXT has a power off menu.
Also,Quick Boot from the market.
Do you just have to be really careful not to turn the phone off?
I mean if it turns off can you get it back on at all?
Just curious in case I'm ever faced with this scenario.

This guy knows what he's talking about :highfive:
If your phone has something like LeeDroid or PkMn tweaks, you might be able to use long-press search to bring up the power menu.

well last week my phone power button stoped working for somereason, i didn't smash it on the ground or anything,

Not many signs of life

Just bought an HTC Sensation off craigslist for $10, Said he couldn't get it to boot so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas why.
Here's what I can get to happen.
1. If I pull the battery then try to turn it on, orange light comes on screen come on for a second and then it turns off. When I plug it into a power source the same thing happens
2. if I hold volume down or up and press the power button, nothing happens on the screen but it vibrates, and continues vibrating, mind you the volume button is missing I'm using a pen to push the button.
3. Read that it could be the battery but I tried the battery in my HTC Inspire and it works fine.
Any ideas what to try next?
Also i get nothing when I plug it into a computer.

No removeable battery and ROM flashing

Coming from the S5, what are the implications of not being able to remove battery to reboot when phone gets stuck while flashing ROMs etc. What is the solution now with s6/s7?
I'm wondering about this, too. I suppose flashing with the battery almost empty & plugged into a low powered charger while flashing would allow for the battery to fully drain after unplugging it? Every phone I've owned had removable battery, so I don't know what to expect.
Holding the power+volume down simulates a battery pull
Holding down the power button for 10 seconds should shut it off too.

I do NOT suggest this at ALL! A dead battery while firmware up/downgrading can be quite problematic, to say the least.

This generally doesn't work with the newer Samsung devices, like S6/Note 5. But volume down and power button does every time as someone already mentioned.
Volume down+power like others have mentioned. Works every time. I found that at times I had to hold the home button as well.

Not if the phone is already powered up it won't. That's as if it's off when you hit that combination.

Boot loop after rooting MMB29V. Please help.

I was running the latest stock image (MMB29V) since yesterday on my Nexus 5 and today I used the Nexus root toolkit as always to root the device. Well TWRP flashed once and it said it copied the root files to the device. I had it in my pocket for a few minutes and after that it went into a crazy constant boot loop. It will stop eventually but if I keep the charging cable in it won't stop. I cannot get into recovery because I get the "Start" screen but I cannot advance because it reboots too quickly. I have found a few you tube videos where people push the power button like they are playing the old school game "Track and Field" but this does not work for me nor do I think it's a power button issue. I think I stupidly might have hit some kind of button combo while I'm my pocket believe it or not. I pulled the cover off and was hoping to pull the battery but Im not a fan of doing that since its not a simple task. Any help appreciated. This phone is dead to me and that is NOT good. I need to get this working.
TIA
Bill
Will the phone stay in fastboot mode or does it quickly restart?
Possible power button problem?

It quickly restarts. I want to say its not a problem with the power button because it has been fine for a few years now w/out issue and only happened after rooting earlier today. Right now the only way I can even get the phone to turn on is the plug the charging cable in and then the restarting commences. Does it sound like a power button issue? Possibly but its hard to believe, I dunno. Waiting on a call back from Google tech support to see if they are any help.
It could be a power button issue. You'll have to remove the motherboard to find out.
Once removed from the housing, quickly press and release the power button several times in a row using more pressure than normal. While the motherboard is out of the phone, clean around the power button with pure alcohol.

Did NOT want to screw up my phone so I sent it to LG. Took a few weeks but it cost me 78.00 total for them to repair the power button issue. Whatever they replaced also fixed the low volume issue I was experiencing as well so it worked out.
