Adjust haptic feedback length? - HTC Sensation

I've searched the forum, and cannot find an answer. I just got a warranty replacement phone and the haptic feedback is ridiculously strong and loud. I can tolerate the notification vibrate since it is for notification, but right now I have haptic feedback turned off for soft buttons because it's so annoying. My older sensation had no issue like this. I know galaxy s phones have a strength adjustment, is there something like that for the sensation? I really like a soft haptic feedback, and I'm going to be bummed if I have to leave it off. Is there some config file I can edit, somewhere might there be a millisecond adjustment for feedback length? Kind of like there is in some keyboards?

Bump anybody? Surely somebody has figured this out.

I had this issue too on stock rom when i flashed my first custom rom i noticed the soft key does have less haptic feedback perhaps you wanna try that

I'm already on a custom rom. I'm using ViperS sense 4. It happened on the stock ics rom before I s-off'd though too so I think it's just a hardware issue. Goddamn refurbs

I don' think changing roms will help my problem though

I guess if there's no way to get around this, I'll just leave haptic feedback off. Don't really want to go to the pain of getting ANOTHER replacement.

Vibrate is getting progressively WEAK

Hey guys. This phone has been great, but now I've just started noticing this problem. The vibrate is getting progressively weaker. You can even "hear"/notice it when, let's say, the phone is ringing, the vibrate will sort of "level" down.
I downloaded an app to test vibration, and it seems to be random and getting weaker. Also, when the phone rings, sometimes, while vibrating it will "hiccup".
What is causing this? Battery? My phone is perfect except this. I REALLY don't want to go back to stock and have to return the phone.
What rom. And kernel are you using? I thought I was having the same problem but it was because I was undervolting

Absolutely no undervolting here; I can tell you that with 100% certainty. I'm using CM7 with default kernel.
At one point I DID mess with the LordMod kernel and install a UV script, but after that I didn't like it (it wasn't smooth as CM7 kernel default), so I did a nandroid restore to an earlier point when I wasn't using it, so I assume the entire system including kernel included was restored.
Yeah your kernel was restored too. Hold the volume down button for 3 seconds. How weak does it feel?

It vibrates, albeit weakly, and vibrates sort of "rough". It even skips while vibrating. Sounds like it's missing (sort of like when a car engine misfires) .
how do you take vibrate off in all settings I thought I did but when I answer the phone it will vibrate and when I use the calculator
Maybe it needs a tune-up?

It's getting more ridiculous. It sputters like a car that has bad spark plugs (analogy).
I contacted AT&T and they are shipping me a replacement. I will report when I get it.
I had a similar problem with my Atrix except it was the keyboard and haptic feedback that was completely giving out. I hope my Inspire doesn't start acting up, I got it off Craigslist not at&t
Sounds like hardware. I.e , the the little motor that spins the little off-center weight that results in the vibration might be going bad :-(. Hope I'm wrong.

First time ive heard about this kind of problem, sounds like your hardware is getting down. Better get it checked if you still have its warranty.

Update: got the replacement. The replacement works perfectly. It is definitely a hardware issue.
So anyone in the future who has this issue, get your phone replaced!!!
Mine has been seeming to get louder, sometimes when typing its almost overwhelmingly loud.
Ehhh... got lucky...

Can i stop vibrate on hardware button press?

I love my sensation, the only thing i want to be able to change is the vibrate when i press any of the 4 hardware buttons at the bottom of the screen (home, menu, back, search).
Ive searched around but not had much fun, i dont really like haptic feedback, i find it too intrusive and have managed to switch it off everywhere else but on these buttons.
Any help very welcome!

[Q] Haptic Feedback Tweaks

Does anybody know the haptic feedback vibration levels in WIND's Froyo OS? I have rooted my LG G2X and installed Cyanogenmod 7, and I've been endlessly, as well as hopelessly, trying to discover and match the vibration levels with WIND's.
I really like the " short and quick feeling" when I press on the capacitive buttons on WIND's FROYO OS, compared to Cyanogenmod's laggy, sluggish response when I press on them.
I was able to compare them as my mom and I have the same phones, with her phone not being rooted, and I can seriously say that the overall feeling when pressing the back button or typing on the keyboard is much, much nicer (unless it's just me).
THANKS
Since you are on cm7, go to settings, Cyanogenmod settings, Input, Haptic feedback tweaks, and then tap on set down pattern. After that you can adjust your settings to the way you want, I have 0 5 7 19. I haven't been on froyo since april so I don't remember how that froyo haptic feedback feels like. You can also always test the way it feels before you apply. Make sure to tell me what your settings u changed it too.
Thanks, I changed the values to the ones you gave me. However, it still doesn't feel the same, I just compared it to my mom's phone again. xD Is this just a problem with the ROM? Because in stock ROMs like Weapon G2X or XboarderMod it has the same nice, quick feeling as WIND's Froyo, but there is no option to tweak the haptic feedback vibrations. THANKS THO!

Well since you have your Mom's phone next to you maybe you can try different values until u finally match the one and then post your findings? I don't have another g2x that i can compare it to.
I agree I hate the super vibrations shouldn't feel like that IMO.

I thought I was the only one that didn't like that, what value levels do you use?
Try setting to hardware defaults perhaps?
Yeup, I don't like it I think I remember somewhere (otherwise I must have dreamt reading it) that it is just Cyanogenmod's laggy feedback, or something like that. And I've tried to match it soo many times. In CM7, adding more levels ("steps in the sequence") make it even worse as you can actually feel each separate vibration.

The defaults are so bad IMO. I can feel this long vibration on my entire phone every time I press the back button or type on the keyboard.

Not sure why bit all of a sudden yesterday (not sure if it was after a reboot or not) but the haptic feedback is very weak now almost perfect a whole bunch better and close to stock feel now. When I type it is actually nice lol, and my friends don't make fun if the "buzz". But ya try it out the first one is the one I changed press the minus button twice and then change it to the number that I have selected if you would like. Just so people know I can not seem to get back to the old feel or any different from what it feels like now, just a heads up... I don't want to flash the latest nightly cause I'm so happy with the haptic feedback lol.

Noise

Hi.
I'm experiencing some heavy noise during calls, anyone else who have the same problem and do you have any idea how to solve it.?
I love the phone, everything is great about it, except that noise.
I have used 2 operators, one with excellent 3g cover and one with just the opposite and there is no difference.

Should it be necessary to reset a brand new phone.?

i would exchange it--if you have audio issues on 1.78, i think it is phone
many others have similar issue
if you want to LeeDroid--but, probably won't help as bad as you say it is--
OK. I actually considered to exchange it for a Nokia, glad I didn't.
However I still have the problem(it's my fourth phone) but it only occour when I talk, the ringing is clear as crystal and I don't have any other audio problems.
Could I solve it with a custom rom, or do you know if it could/will be fixed with an update.?

Believe it or not I just went to the tmobile store to test another htc one s and it has the same issue so hopefully this OTA will help us least I feel better that mines not the only one.
On a side note the phone there had a better calabrated screen looked better we need supercurio and rbg changer for this phone it being super amoled once you play around with that the results are alot better
Any of you have an sometimes unresponsive bottom portion of the screen?
Other than the noise/static, the phone works perfectly. Screen is beautiful and responsive, speed is amazing and wifi picks up where my old iPhone didn't. No flaws here.

Not sure if you guys with noise issues are rooted. But, when i went to LeeDroid 2.1, all noise gone--
I haven't rooted yet, but if a new rom could solve the problem then...
Is leedroid one of the best?, I really want to keep sense because that's one of the main reasons for buying the phone.
Could it be the noise cancellation that's not fine tuned.?
Sent from me.
not sure why it went away and yes i find leedroid perfect--i have no issues--this is what i wanted coming from constantly flashing differnet roms on my n1 and always trying to get out of trouble
great phone--rooted, i have nandroids and titanium backup and leedroid tweaks thanks to J4n87. still have sense and ics--best of both worlds
i go days now now and never realize i have a custom rom on phone

CMX Hangs

Every once in awhile I'll notice my Sensey's soft keys are lit up and I can't do anything on the phone. pressing the lock/wake button does nothing and I need to do a battery pull to get into my phone again. Holding the lock/wake key doesn't even reboot at all.
Is this a firmware or kernel problem? Any fixes?
(I realize that I worded that terribly, my apologies.)
-Matthew
It could be a software issue, I say this because this has happened to me on different roms, then when I flashed a different Rom the issue was solved. I'm not sure other than flashing a different Rom, how to remedy the situation. In my case this is how I fixed it when that happened to me. You might want to post this on the Rom developers site and see if others are experiencing the same issue. Perhaps they might have a fix if it's a known problem. I wish you the best ! Hopefully you can remedy this situation easily. I'm fairly certain flashing a different Rom will cure the issue. At least it did in my situation. Good luck and I hope this helped.

Um...I'm sure you're new to this.
The bug aren't fully fixed yet. Reboots and hangs are obviously expected.
Nothing wrong with Kernel cuz there's no jellybean kernel for us YET.
So the ROMs are still buggy.
I suggest you wait a week or 2 for all bug fixes.
Meanwhile, try a Sense ROM or an ICS aosp based ROM. :sly:

Alright, fair enough.
I wouldn't consider myself new to this at all. I've had my sensation since September last year and I've done my fair share of flashing and helping others out. I just thought I'd ask because I didn't see it discussed anywhere and thought I was the only one having this particular issue. I searched the ROM thread and found nothing and I searched this Q&A forum and didn't find anything so I thought I'd ask. Is that so wrong?
