[Q] Haptic Feedback Tweaks - T-Mobile LG G2x

Does anybody know the haptic feedback vibration levels in WIND's Froyo OS? I have rooted my LG G2X and installed Cyanogenmod 7, and I've been endlessly, as well as hopelessly, trying to discover and match the vibration levels with WIND's.
I really like the " short and quick feeling" when I press on the capacitive buttons on WIND's FROYO OS, compared to Cyanogenmod's laggy, sluggish response when I press on them.
I was able to compare them as my mom and I have the same phones, with her phone not being rooted, and I can seriously say that the overall feeling when pressing the back button or typing on the keyboard is much, much nicer (unless it's just me).
THANKS

Since you are on cm7, go to settings, Cyanogenmod settings, Input, Haptic feedback tweaks, and then tap on set down pattern. After that you can adjust your settings to the way you want, I have 0 5 7 19. I haven't been on froyo since april so I don't remember how that froyo haptic feedback feels like. You can also always test the way it feels before you apply. Make sure to tell me what your settings u changed it too.

Thanks, I changed the values to the ones you gave me. However, it still doesn't feel the same, I just compared it to my mom's phone again. xD Is this just a problem with the ROM? Because in stock ROMs like Weapon G2X or XboarderMod it has the same nice, quick feeling as WIND's Froyo, but there is no option to tweak the haptic feedback vibrations. THANKS THO!

Well since you have your Mom's phone next to you maybe you can try different values until u finally match the one and then post your findings? I don't have another g2x that i can compare it to.

I agree I hate the super vibrations shouldn't feel like that IMO.

I thought I was the only one that didn't like that, what value levels do you use?

Try setting to hardware defaults perhaps?

Yeup, I don't like it I think I remember somewhere (otherwise I must have dreamt reading it) that it is just Cyanogenmod's laggy feedback, or something like that. And I've tried to match it soo many times. In CM7, adding more levels ("steps in the sequence") make it even worse as you can actually feel each separate vibration.

The defaults are so bad IMO. I can feel this long vibration on my entire phone every time I press the back button or type on the keyboard.

Not sure why bit all of a sudden yesterday (not sure if it was after a reboot or not) but the haptic feedback is very weak now almost perfect a whole bunch better and close to stock feel now. When I type it is actually nice lol, and my friends don't make fun if the "buzz". But ya try it out the first one is the one I changed press the minus button twice and then change it to the number that I have selected if you would like. Just so people know I can not seem to get back to the old feel or any different from what it feels like now, just a heads up... I don't want to flash the latest nightly cause I'm so happy with the haptic feedback lol.

anyone know how to get rid of the "Charging Complete" dialog?

Who the hell thought this would be useful? SO what, charging is complete, carry on goddam it.
Anyone know how to turn this off?
Praying CM is coming soon...
cheers
Yeah, that's kind of annoying -- I charge my phone every night while I'm asleep, and with that dialog on the screen, the volume buttons don't function as a "snooze" request for the alarm clock, so I have to pick up the phone to clear the dialog before I can respond to the alarm. Not convenient.
Anyone???
I am having this issue also....other droid phones have the secret menu access to turn this off....I cannot find it on this phone.
I hate it as well. Hoping someone knows how to stop it. I've found turning the phone face down helps. I'm a light sleeper and even that little bit of light bothers me.
Yeah this is very annoying I hope someone figures out how to remove it
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Fix: flash a non-LG rom. CM7, Faux, xboarder, birgertime. I would imagine they all do not include this dialog since they're AOSP roms.
On a side note, I've seen a hidden menu accessible through a custom shortcut with ADW Launcher. Just search the forums for details. As to weather it's an option in the hidden menu, no idea.
I've gone through all the options in the hidden menu thing, can't find anything about this dialog anywhere.
I hate it at least twice as much as all of you do, and probably twice as much as any other person on the planet since my phone sits in a dock next to my face all night, Alarm Clock Plus dims the screen when in the dock, until that damn dialog pops up and the screen pops back to somewhere near as bright as the sun, like clockwork, at 3am every day until i click "ok".
I'm very close to installing CM7 to get rid of it (and also try that new uv kernel that's supposed to get you a full day on a battery)... but i'm really trying to hold off until we get an official GB release for them to build CM7 off of.
Seriously! It's unbelievably annoying things like this that make me wonder if phone developers even use the phones or even any other smartphones themselves! Because I can't understand why they'd do things like this if they did!!
Ha ha, I just got the "Charging Complete" dialog while reading this post.

[APP] SwiftKey 3 Beta

Has anyone tried out the Beta of the keyboard? I just downloaded it and I have to say, i've never typed faster (although I've only typed out one Twitter post with it and nothing else).
I'll leave my impressions of it after i use it more!
The beta is awesome! I keep trying to put in question marks but keep forgetting that they combined question/exclamation/period to 1 key now .
I am thoroughly enjoying the larger spacebar. I don't miss now.
I always had a problem with SwiftKey X and hitting "b" onstead of the space bar but that problem is gone now. I'd like to see a then engine implemented though, as well as a comme button instead of the SwiftKey Settings button.
And i dont't know what it is about SwiftKey and I but it never seems to autocorrect for me. It's not that it corrects improperly, it just doesn't do it.

From what I can see it doenst autocorrect but does give the option to select the proper word. If its not doing that re-run the setup and choose to have it use autocorrect instead of you selecting the corrected word.

Huh? 40chars
Miss some old features
I really miss having dedicated push and hold comma and exclamation keys. Speed up some areas and slow down others. With press and hold delay set really low I could fly on the old version. Also still pretty laggy on ics. I am going to try task650 AOKP latest release to see if there is any lag improvement because it is bad enough right now to have me looking at alternatives...
Oh, and it appears that 'long press duration' is no longer an available option. Hopefully it will get added back after beta.

Well I am happy to report that with the new beta, comma IS back, and I love the location, long press duration has improved speed of accessing secondary characters, and lag has been GREATLY minimized on ICS. So far even the beta is a keeper! Oh, and no more double and triple back swipes to delete a word. That was driving me crazy...

Ive gotta say, the previous release was a lot better than this one for me. I feel as though my typing is less accurate than it was before, and i feel as though the dedicated comma is slightly unnecessary. Also, the update seems to have broken my autocorrections

Try changing from rapid to precise or vice versa. Strangely in they seemed to work opposite for me. Rapid in the old version feels like precise in the new one. I switched to the old version after a rom upgrade over the weekend and forgot how fast it was. I am still waiting for the new version to come out of beta. The swipe punctuation is a bad step IMO.

Adjust haptic feedback length?

I've searched the forum, and cannot find an answer. I just got a warranty replacement phone and the haptic feedback is ridiculously strong and loud. I can tolerate the notification vibrate since it is for notification, but right now I have haptic feedback turned off for soft buttons because it's so annoying. My older sensation had no issue like this. I know galaxy s phones have a strength adjustment, is there something like that for the sensation? I really like a soft haptic feedback, and I'm going to be bummed if I have to leave it off. Is there some config file I can edit, somewhere might there be a millisecond adjustment for feedback length? Kind of like there is in some keyboards?
Bump anybody? Surely somebody has figured this out.

Code:
gpio_direction_output(_3_GPIO_TOUCH_EN, onoff);
Well damn, looks like that might not only have turned off the backlight, but also the ability to use the button. Black electrician's tape is probably an easier solution if that was your goal.
Somehow I think you still want to be able to use the buttons though.
Isn't there another line of code that tells how bright the keys can be? Is it possible to set that at 0?

Sometimes a little distraction is nice. Trust me, after you've been staring at VCO divider tables for a while, something simple like "Can you just turn off this light?" is a good way to improve productivity. I'm back in the tables again this morning, but this gives me something interesting and rewarding to do during the roughly hour and a half a full build takes.

I do agree that it would be nice. Think about it the only time the lights are on is if the screen is on, if the screen is on, chances are you are touching the screen unless you are watching a movie... there are a few roms out that don't have this problem like the beam port... Maybe compare roms and kernels? There is bound to be a solution. I hope you find your answer and sorry i wasn't trying to blast anyone.
Its all good....i watch alt of movies while sitting at the back gates waiting for the parks to empty out at Disney so i can go to work and the those lights are quite annoying in the dark watching movies lol

[Q&A][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 10 (JellyBean) Nightly Discussions

This phone is not my daily driver, and I'll do as much as I can, but I also have a day job
I would appreciate all discussion stay to this thread, and I'd love it if there were some community self-help.
State of the Union (for the Blaze 4G) (2012-11-05)
Current state of the ROM. This likely applies to any of the ROMs using the kernel sources coming from CyanogenMod for this device.
The device mostly works as it should. There are some problems currently people are having with this phone, and I will detail those here:
1) First and foremost, the Screen of Death. This is a problem that isn't only occuring to us. Just a couple of days ago I asked what the status was and the answer is that they have no idea. Some think it's specific to our platform (msm8660, which we share with a number of other phones), except that I've experienced it on other platforms, like my S3. Some think it's related to the display, except that not all the devices on this platform use the same display. Because of the randomness and lack of verbosity in the bug, they don't have a way of getting any useful data on it. dmesg and logcats are pointless. They are working hard trying to find it, but keep in mind that it isn't just us.
2) Saving pictures somewhere other than local storage. Yes, you should be able to save to your SD card. I think this is coming sooner rather than later. The following patch popped up over the weekend and adds in the functionality: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/25848. The Q&A responses to it look good. I suspect it'll go through a revision or two once they work out the bugs and then it'll get incorporated.
3) Saving app data somewhere other than the local storage. While I'm looking into it and talking to officials, I'm fairly confident that this behavior won't change in the official CM builds. Some of the other CM derived roms may allow this, and you should probably look there to solve this problem. The sad thing fact that our devices shipped with 1.2 GB of internal storage. I don't know why Samsung hates us so much, but they do. And therefore, the default behavior for CM is bad for those of us that want to game. Some users have reported success using an app called Directory Bind. I haven't used it and can't vouch for it, however it looks like it'd let you point specific directories from your internal storage to a space on your external storage. This is definitely safer than the mount swapping ideas that have been going around.
4) BLN isn't 100% unbuggy. Yes, BLN is buggy. BLN is the Button Lights Notifications. As of 11/10 we are on the official CM cypress-touchkey driver. However it seems there's still a bug there. Occasionally if you unlock during a notification, the lights won't come on. Sorry, that's just the way it is.
5) Camera Flash won't disable. This is unfortunate. Apparently if you tell the camera to disable flash, it simply won't do it. It's towards the bottom of my list, but it is definitely there.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that CyanogenMod version 10 is a moving target. Lots of stuff is happening, and until it's labeled as "stable" (and probably even for some time after that), we will continue to experience bugs.
Thank you

How has the data seemed? The "regular" stuff seemed to work great for me, but since I don't use this phone on a regular basis I don't know how to judge the 3/4g performance.
Also, I'd love to hear about maps performance (GPS, compass, etc).
I know I'm opening a can of worms by asking about this stuff (everyone will be hyperaware of things that never bothered them before), but it's useful to know as feedback.
Data seems normal to me. GPS and compass seem to be working fine for me also.

I'm working on it. It wasn't a choice I made, it was a mistake I made and am trying to find it...
Not to be mean, I was jus wondering, this by far though, is hell a damn awesome

Surprisingly this is actually more stable than CM9 lol. The camera is smoother and has more options and the Google account synching is easier. The transitions are fast and cool too.
While I'm not a fan of the navigation bar due to the smaller screen, I do love the easy access to the multitasking. It makes switching apps easier. Is this something that you could possibly port without the navigation bar when you fix the buttons? Like give an option in the settings to replace the search button for the multitasking action? I can access the searching from the top widget. Just throwing ideas out lol.
Also the UI sounds are not working, along with the keyboard sounds. I also get this message once in a while about the "CM updater stopped working" it's not a big deal. I haven't used the data much, so I'll report in a little while. Worked fine during the little moment I used it.
Update:
UI sounds are working. Never mind. Let's see if it's consistent or not lol.

Oh, don't sweat it, first rom I've ever actually posted so this is a learning process for me... been working on this for ages, all I needed was the kernel source.
Please tell me you asked Google Now to "do a barrel roll"

Glad to hear it's working out stable for you!
I'm not a Java/Android developer per se... I'm a bit of a self-taught hacker and the majority of my work for this was really about the kernel and forward porting the changes from 3.0.8 samsung sources to the 3.0.43 that CM uses. Adding things to the settings seems a bit daunting to me, but I'll look into it. Always wanted a reason to actually start developing for android
I can tell you that on my SGS3 (and I imagine on other phones as well), the home button, when as a long press, brings up the multitasking menu. This would probably be the immediate answer to your situation for this phone.
I could also possibly just offer up a flashable zip to remap the key and that would be much easier for me.
My long term goal really is to get this into github (and into the CM nightly cycle) and get my kernel changes into the cm kernel for msm8660 so I don't have to maintain the patches myself.

I meant to mention that they start working after the first time you adjust the volume. This seems to be a general CM10 bug as I've had it (and seen people complain about it) on the SGS3.

Thanks! I noticed it worked after I adjust it And that flahable zip for the action replacement on the search button would be AWESOME if you can pull it off, but let's focus on polishing what we have lol.

Just flashed, its SO smooth. Can't wait for future updates. And I'm kind of liking the navbars lol

Surprisingly smooth. No force closes. No major unlisted bugs that I've seen.
Incredible

Is there any way I can change the location of camera photos to my SD card? Can't seem to find it
