I love my sensation, the only thing i want to be able to change is the vibrate when i press any of the 4 hardware buttons at the bottom of the screen (home, menu, back, search).
Ive searched around but not had much fun, i dont really like haptic feedback, i find it too intrusive and have managed to switch it off everywhere else but on these buttons.
Any help very welcome!

For those that aren't aware, kinda cool thing I found when researching what com.lge.hiddenmenu was. From the Optimus 2x thread located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-991449.html
I'd like to stress the following that was mentioned -
Enjoy the vast amount of options and tests in there, and be careful as some are destructive.
I love the torch flashlight and dimming the capacitive buttons..
Well this one isn't so difficult but I though I'd share for those that have not worked it out yet.
The LG Device Test "HiddenMenu" is apparently on all shipping phones and it's simply disabled via removing the menu entry.
To activate you need to create a shortcut to this hidden menu. You can do this with most replacement launchers and apps like BetterCut.
Example using LauncherPro (others will use a similar method):
Long press on home screen
Select Shortcuts
Select Activities
Scroll down to and expand com.lge.hiddenmenu
Select HiddenMenu (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Also now Logcat app:
As above
Scroll down to and expand LG Debug
Select LG Debug (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Enjoy the vast amount of options and tests in there, and be careful as some are destructive.
Perhaps Useful:
Dim Capacitive Buttons: Device Test | Touch LED Brightness
Turn on Camera LED: Device Test | Camera Test | Torch Flashlight Preview

Thanks for this. Was aware of the hidden menu, but hadn't looked into actually finding it until I saw your post. Appreciate it.

Np. There's a lot of stuff in there! I love reducing battery usage with the menu lights. Got it turned all the way down. Every little bit helps!
For ADW Launcher, it is as follows:
Long press on homescreen
Select "Custom shortcut"
Select "Pick your activity"
Select "Activites"
Then it's the same as the OP described above. Seems to be a bit more menu work to get to it through ADW lol

find anything in there worth changin/tweaking/messin with?
You are awesome for bringing this to my attention. I've been searching for a way to dim the hard-key backlights! Only wish this was available on the Vibrant. The G2x isn't nearly as bad but it certain wasn't much better stock! =)

That's pretty sweet!
Do you know what the "destructive" menus are? There are a ton of menus/sub-folders in that hidden menu... I would hate to mess with the wrong thing.
Have any of you heard of more tech-y, back end stuff that might be worth tweaking with this? Most of the sub-folders are just acronyms that I have no clue about. It would be cool if an engineer checked it out and looked for some diamonds in the rough!
Anyone tweak with the speaker settings? My ringtones are really soft compared to my mt4g, I practically have to turn it up all the way..

Heh, np man. Kinda funny cuz I used my phone in a dark room the other day and those menu lights killed my eyes. I remember thinking.. "man, I really like to dim these." And then I stumbled across this. Praise God.

Nope, no idea. I don't take too many chances until after I read up on the experiences from others. Google is a good place to start..
nebody try adjusting the speaker output options in the audio Cal menu? it would appear you can increase the output of the speaker but I'm a little nervous to do so because I don't want to blow the speaker.

are you talking about the earpiece speaker? because I was referring to the speakerphone...come to think of it I'm not sure if the option affects the earpiece or speakerphone? I agree the earpiece speaker is fine but actually the speakerphone is very low, many reviews have pointed this out. I used to be able to play music on my blackberry bold 9700 and listen while I was in the shower but this phone is far from loud enough to do that

nope, I have it set very low.. a nice little dim.. enough to just see where they are. i like it. It has stayed there since i changed it. Lemme try a reboot.. well I'll be a SOB.. Yep, reverted back. tried it twice. It doesn't when the phone locks though, only on reboot. O'well.. I don't reboot often and it takes 2secs to change it.

Hey guys so I don't know what to blame here, Ive been flashing roms, running scripts and I also dropped my phone drunk several times the other night, no scratches tho, the case did its job . But anyway it seems like when i hit capacitive buttons my phone no longer responds with a short vibration. Getting texts and emails still cause the phone to vibrate just not when I hit the buttons. Any settings for these I can mess with? I mostly remember it disabling itself after I ran rom cleaner script, no idea why that would happen?
Thanks guys.
goto settings / sound / vibrate feedback
see if its checked ..
last option / very bottom
It's the first thing I turn OFF when loading a new ROM

there reassuring, maybe I have some deep seeded issues from childhood haha
I've searched the forum, and cannot find an answer. I just got a warranty replacement phone and the haptic feedback is ridiculously strong and loud. I can tolerate the notification vibrate since it is for notification, but right now I have haptic feedback turned off for soft buttons because it's so annoying. My older sensation had no issue like this. I know galaxy s phones have a strength adjustment, is there something like that for the sensation? I really like a soft haptic feedback, and I'm going to be bummed if I have to leave it off. Is there some config file I can edit, somewhere might there be a millisecond adjustment for feedback length? Kind of like there is in some keyboards?
Bump anybody? Surely somebody has figured this out.
I had this issue too on stock rom when i flashed my first custom rom i noticed the soft key does have less haptic feedback perhaps you wanna try that
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
I'm already on a custom rom. I'm using ViperS sense 4. It happened on the stock ics rom before I s-off'd though too so I think it's just a hardware issue. Goddamn refurbs

I don' think changing roms will help my problem though
I guess if there's no way to get around this, I'll just leave haptic feedback off. Don't really want to go to the pain of getting ANOTHER replacement.

Hey guys,
I've had my S3 for a couple of weeks now but recently was playing around with my friends nexus with the "soft" home back menu buttons and did some googling but couldn't find anything other then the Button Savior app. I guess that was what i was looking for but i wanted it permanently on the bottom. Thanks in advance.
search around here... its possible.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30048716&postcount=117
Also, when following the instructions, be sure to disable the capacitive key backlights in the phone settings before disabling the keys with the mod. This can be done by going to settings, display, and setting capacitive key backlights to always off.
And be sure to thank Sheffy007 (the OP)!

If u download aokp and play around inside of the rom control option..you will be able to create the very same buttons u see on the nexus
My question is about this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...e&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=tap+tap+tap+app
It uses the proximity sensor to unlock the screen (so saving the power button) but I'm concern that it would probably over load the sensor over time from continuously being on ... What do you think ?
Seems like a waste of time unless your power button is broken.

Power button doesn't seem that it will last so long , plus waiving a finger infront of the speaker area is easier that pushing a button , but Iam afraid it won't be free !!!
I've seen other people use it before. Works well enough I suppose, however there are also ways unlock your phone using the soft keys.

How ?
It has been programmed into a few of our ROMS, so check the development section, and you can also find multiple apps that will do it however I would steer away from ones that use the proximity sensor or anything else other than the soft keys as you're probably looking at a pretty hefty battery drain.
Edit: just checked my current ROM (CM9) and it has it under lock screen settings.

Mahann! My apologies mate! I completely misread what you wanted!
Ok, I did have a way to WAKE my phone on my old og droid with the volume rocker.
However the only thing I know of that can wake your phone is an app where you shake your phone to wake it.
You can find it in the play store.
I know this is probably not what you are looking for, but it's all I got on this subject. Good luck man. Let us know if you find anything!
