Well, I just recently flashed to CM9, and I'm a little confused at the signal indicator.
First, what does it mean when it is blue or gray?
Second, before I flashed from Gingerbread, I had E, 3G, and 4G. After I flashed, all I have now is E, and H full bars. There is no 4G. Or is H 4G? Can someone tell me?
Thanks.
If it is blue it means your connected to the Google servers if its grey your not connected to them. H stands for 4g

First ? ; Blue means you are connected to Google (and carrier) . Gray means you are connected to your carrier but not Google.
Second ? ;Yes H is 4g.

We must have been answering at the same time.. I hate when that happens lol.

Using any Hero rom, I don't see any 3G icon anywhere on the bar when I am in an area with 3G coverage. All I have is the G(gprs) with the arrows underneath it. Sometimes when I'm in London I get an E(edge?) instead of G. Do the Hero roms have the icon removed? If so, is there a way to push it back so I can see it?
I have correct apns and definitely know which places have 3G coverage. I am on vodafone uk on a Rogers Magic HTC running 1.5 JACxHeroski without Amon_RA's kernel.
Thanks any response is appreciated.
This is development!!!!!!!!
I second that statement.
I don't mean to be rude, however...this is after all the development section of the thread.
Sorry.
new to using hero roms but wen i use mine I see E(edge) G(gprs) and H i think H is for 3G
and yea this is the developement forum so post in the right place next time

G is for 3G and H is for HSDPA. Which is supposed to be almost twice as fast as 3G, 7.2 Mbps (listed speed)
It doesn't matter if it shows the icon or not your still getting H speeds where you used to it just isn't built into the ROM.
And I agree people need to START POSTING IN THE RIGHT SECTION.

anyone know how to get 4G back on this? my rom is only showing H when i was on ICS UXCLF3 Base it was showing 4G
thanks! and yes i check the thread it seems the search function no longer shows under thread tools
I'm not too sure if you can. Since this is an AOSP based rom, you will only see 4G if you are in an LTE area. What rom were you on before when you were seeing 4G? If you are in an LTE area, maybe you need change some of your APN settings?

H is 4G. LTE is something totally different even though it says 4GLTE

Yeah AOSP ROMs just lack the 4G icon, nevertheless it's still 4G.
If you need to confirm for certain, go to Settings > About Phone > Status
When the H icon is up your "Mobile Network Type" should say HSPAP:15 or HSPA+:15 or some such thing, this is 4G (At least on Rogers, it might be slightly different on AT&T, google?)
Well after trying cm10 for a while I decided to come back to synergy because it was still a bit buggy. Now however I cannot seem to connect to 4g. None of my imei stuff was changed it just appears that the LTE is broke. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

Try Phone Info from the Market
In device information goto set preferred network type.. LTE/CDMA/EvDo
Thank you good sir. That will probably do the trick ( out of a 4g zone right now )

Be careful with phone info. It messed up my 4G to the point where I couldn't get it back

Go to the dialer and dial
*2767*3855#
I tried that and it got my 4G back. It will wipe your phone tho but will still be on the same rom

I'm having the same loss of LTE/4g issue as the OP, but when I dialed *2767*3855# all I got was a "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, your call could not be completed as dialed" message.
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to be in an LTE area to do this (My work/social life is a 4g area, home is not.)?
Thanks!
Does it say h+?
From someone that helped me. I was told the following
ATT never called their HSPA+ 4G until TMo started advertising theirs as 4G. If TMo can why cant ATT? ATT has had HSPA+ long before TMO has after all, but only overseas unlocked phones utilized it. TMo howevrr put a lot more money into building up their H+ network while ATT put it into LTE. and their H+ speeds differences clearly show that.
Anyways..
To better clarify for those coming from stock
Stock Rom. = CM10
4G LTE = 4G
4G = H+
Not sure if stock rom considers regular HSDPA (H) as 3G or 4G....
3G = 3G
E = E

You need to be on stock, if you weren't.

make sure u are oon a touchwiz rom, then it should work
Well depending on what CM10 Rom you flashed it could have flashed a new kernel. Try reverting back to the stock kernel and see if that works for you. I would also recommend another fresh install of the rom. Occasionally mine does that to depending on what Rom I'm coming from.
Had this happen to me when I flashed d2vzw the other night. Downloaded Phone Info from Play and my phone was set to generic gsm. Changed it back to LTE and it was all good after that.

flashing a new rom sometimes seems to make me not be able to get 4g, I'm in a strong 4g area. But I just leave it be and it fixes itself within 10 mins or so

I don't know if that's true for my case. I've had different roms while at work and it doesn't go to 4g. On a 30 min drive to work its only g or e

This is probably the most noob-sih question asked on these forums, i don't know if it is or not though, anyways,
I have a HTC Sensation 4G and when i flash any Rom on it and gt it all set up it displays it it connected to '3G' or 'H'
Is there a way to restore 4G or is it really on 4G but the rom displays it as 3G/H?

Technicly nothing is 'really' 4G yet. It's just a marketing gimmick.
Depending on what rom/theme you are using you can get a mod to make the H turn into 4G. Looking in the Themes and Apps section adn search for '4g icon' or something similar. It will give you whta you want. I don't think the mod works with all roms though so read the thread you find it in carefully.
H is the closest we get to 4g.but if the icon is bothering you perhaps you can change it in your rom settings depending on the rom you're running. However H is hsdpa which is the closest to 4g that your going to get! Even the 4g icon is not really 4g. It's usually hsdpa. It's in reality 3.5g. But most people know H icon is as close to 4g as it gets so h icon is good. But if rom allowed it you can change to 4g icon.

Hi all. I live in the Caribbean and got the HTC sensation 4g. I upgraded my mobile package from edge to 4g however I still see 2g. I tried my sim card in another phone and got H+ which I should be seeing on my phone. The phone is running 4.0 is with sense 3.6. The mobile settings is set to gsm/wcdma auto. Any ideas??
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
You can try to change your data settings to wdcma only. If the signal is available in your area this should give you the 4 G icon. It's worth a try. Here's how it's done. Press *#*#4636#*#* then when the menu comes up press phone information, then another screen will come up, press on your
signal, a sub menu will come up, then press wdcma only, then scroll down and press refresh. This should give you the 4G, or H. Which is also 4G. However this must be done every time you reboot device so remember the code. Also, this will only work if 4G is available in your area. I use this method because I keep going to Edge, even through 4G, is available in my area. It works like a charm for me. Now I received my 4G instead if slow edge! Hope this helps! Let me know. Best wishes.

Hey guys,
So i just got my LG G2, rooted it, and threw CloudyG3 rom onto it. First, the LTE symbol isn't shown next to my signals at the top of my screen, and second, i always have low bars (at my house, in class). I'm using the D800 AT&T, but unlocked, so im using T-Mobile. Im using T-Mobile's 4G LTE APN, so i don't think that's the problem. I just kinda want reassurance that im using my phone's LTE by getting that symbol or something. I don't really know tbh, i just want my bars going to back up and assurance that im using my phone's full potential.
If there's something i can do that's safe, please comment.

Hello sir, (@^Castiel)
I can relate to your questions..
I have the D800 (AT&T variant) and flashed to the latest baseband/radio that I could find:
M8974A-AAAANAZm-1.0.190082
I have a T-Mobile S4 (M919) unlocked running on AT&T which seems to have *much* better signal than this device..
This device is *constantly* switching between 'H' (HSPA/HSPDA) and '4G' (LTE).
Whereas my M919 is pretty consistent, sticking with whatever the signal is.
I did find that I was having a massive wakelock which seemed to be related to FastDormancy which seemed to fix my batter drain..
HTH.
Below is the link from AT&T showing the latest version of the baseband:

Cloudyg3 doesn't have lte icons, only 4g, h+, h, 3g, e. Nothing is wrong with your phone. T-Mobile knows it's not their phone so your signal is weaker and you actually have less access to some of the towers. Try the T-Mobile Rom and you'll see the difference as it has the correct rtl files to let you use the full spectrum.
