I have got my tf700 for 2 days. It seems that the bottom left part of the screen/glass (edge) is not as flat as the top part. When I press it, I can feel a little loose. Another thing is when the whole screen is showing a pure black, such as restarting with asus logo, the bottom part is not uniform, with a little spotted white area. Is it just me or common for all tf700?
The small amount of give at the bottom left corner of the screen seems common across many users. Mine was flat but I could press it down 1-2mm and it would spring back up - wasn't really an issue for me. I didn't notice any white spotted areas on the screen when it was black, I've since returned mine so might be worth waiting on someone else's opinion on that.

You're right about the screen and the little white spotted is the light bleed..

Sorry that gave you a bad feeling. I will keep it. I have ipad3 and it has similar light bleed aslo, not a big deal when you use it. It is not noticeable for normal usage. The loose fit of the screen isn't sever at all. Hope asus can improve the software soon. It is a very good tablet but not as smooth as apple, but I love many android functions as apple product can hardly be modified.

Can anyone else press the screen semi hard with one finger and distort the LCD screen too?
I know it is not normal for anyone to be pressing that hard, but I just want to make sure I do not have a defect before my 14 days return window closes.
Thanks
ive done it before and that happens. It seems to have the same effect on all lcd/led screens with a bit of pressure. IMHO totally normal.

Thanks for the response. I know LCD screens do that, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't an issue with the glass flexing and pushing on the LCD screen.
So if yours is doing it, then I'm OK with mine doing it too. It's not like we are going to be pressing that hard anyway.
Thanks!
You do know the L in LCD means liquid? If you press hard on any LCD screen this will happen. you are displacing the liquid under the screen. You aren't hurting anything. It corrects itelf in a matter of seconds.
The xoom has a really thin glass panel, this is most likely the reason you can distort the liquid easily
How this distortion looks? It could help discern what type of LCD Xoom is using. (for example pressing my PVA screen show a dark smudge)
angry birds causes me to do this now and then!
I get white smudges. I thought that Gorilla glass would have less flex.
Does it look like this?
I returned mine, as the first one I have doesn't exhibit this. Yes, if you press if really hard, any LCD would show this, but this is barely a tap. I'm using my Wacom stylus here, but it's the same with just my finger. It's actually worst in person, but you can clearly see it happening on the video. And it's only on the right hand side of the screen also, so it's definitely a defect. On mine anyway.

Actually, if you look it up on youtube, there are some videos showing how tough it is that also show how surprisingly flexible it is. It's pretty impressive stuff.

Yeah...mine is mostly on the right side into the center. Center to the left, it gets really hard to do it.
it's easier on the right side than the left on mine too but i still kinda have to push a bit. if you push in on the back panel on the right side it does it too.
So, I was lucky enough to get my transformer today. Though I do love it, is anyone else having these problems?
-Light bleed
-Creaking/flex on the right side of the tablet, but not on the left
-Some dead pixels(not very noticeable, but I was able to catch around 3-4)

I have minor light bleeding but no creaking or flex.. How are you checking for dead pixel?
There are a few other threads about the flexing and the light bleed. I haven't experienced any dead pixels, but there is a specific paragraph on it in the warranty i.e how many and how close together in order to qualify for a warranty repair.
My Transformer is flexing at the top rim near the camera. I don't really think its a huge problem though. Just feels weird if you grip there.

Light bleed:yes, but not noticeable most time, and this issue seems to be common.
Creaking:sometimes, especially when holding TF by one hand, acceptable though.
No dead pixels,i've tested that using some pure color pictures.
On the 3rd day,i found a dust under the lens cover of rear camera...

my main concern is that on day one i had no bleed nor creaking. but 6 days later now i have both. what happens a month from now? the paint flakes?
i don't plan on keeping it after kal-el tablets come out, but dammit i'd like for it to last that long.
i just picked up the pre-order from best buy that i was going to cancel b/c i wanted to see if it had less issues. the new one actually has more bleed than my current but no creaking. i'm pretty sure it'll start creaking if i put more handling on it.
Makes me wanna believe they glued the rim on thats why its creaking when the glue fails to stick ;o
light bleed.
No, the pixels and light bleed arnt anything super major, but I dont know if I am ocd, but the the creaking seems to be enough to bother me. The ride side of the tablet is perfectly fine and very sturdy feeling, but I feel like the left is just not the same. Would this be okay to be sent in for warranty or exchanged? Should I just return it and wait?
Man... lots and lots of issues. I know the majority of people without issues, don't report. But the number of new cases keep expanding every day that goes by. I'm still waiting for my TF101, but I'm more and more skeptical.

it has to be. it would be terrible if it's screws getting loose already. I can actually squeeze the front and back together on my left corner. the back is no longer flush with the bezel like the right side is. the right is only giving slight squeaks. hoping it doesn't get worse.
I hate to say this but this is typed out on my iPad. I really hate posting in this forum on my android tablets bc of the lag.

The issues you are describing are serious build quality problems, the unit is defective and should be replaced.

Maybe you go to RC to solve these problem.
I was just wondering if everyone has the screen rippling issue when u press down on the screen. Also, based on people who have reported this issue, it appears to be a lot more common in white H1X's. Anyone care to share?
I noticed this in the store when initially checking out the phone before buying BUT it only seems to happen on the very edges of the screen and you need to press pretty damn hard to get it to do that. Hasn't actually affected real world usage for me since pressing the screen that hard is never necessary, especially on the outer edges.
Just tested mine out, no matter how hard or where I press I cannot get it to happen even a tiny bit. Apparently it only affects some devices.
You mean the same screen ripple that you see when you press on any LCD display?
I just tried on my phone while it displayed a white image and a black image, and I didn't see anything. But I can do it on my computer and TV. I thought that was typical of LCD displays.

it is, and especially on a phone this thin. I was told an explanation, but I can't remember for the life of me. But I never notice it from day to day use.

I assumed the ripple was because it's a Liquid Crystal Display.
Regardless, I've never seen it on mine. I have the dark grey one. Maybe some units have a thinner panel?
I actually know why this happens with HOX. Anal Torture & Tyranny told me to call HTC about replacing my phone. Talking with them explained my situation.
Phone where the lower right edge sits higher also causing a light leak, also causes the ripple is due to the battery cable inside the phone not sitting flush in the body. Also, there is a gasket that should be internal in the phone its basically electrical tape. Sometimes it rolls up causing the same problem.
Because of the battery cable not sitting flush it adds pressure behind the screen making the liquid crystal more prone to the ripple due to stress. Instead of flush in concave or convex depending on how you look at it.

i've seen this on all 4 devices i've had my hands on, and you don't have to press hard at all to get it.
So hey guys.
I bought myself a refurbished Nexus 5 off of AliExpress. I love everything about the phone except what seems to be something odd with the screen. Mostly works fine, but quite often grey and white vertical stripes appear down the screen (as you can see in the attached photos) They seem to appear when I swipe in the same place a lot and will disappear after a minute or two, or sometimes if I swipe the other way. Almost like a smudge or a smear but with what looks like the light from the screen. It's very noticeable on white and grey backgrounds.
I just wanted to know if this is a normal thing for this type of LCD screen or whether you think I should contact Ali regarding them sending a new one? I could probably live with it if it's a normal thing, but it's annoying and noticeable enough for me to have posted on here.
Thanks in advance for any answers I get.

You gave us very hard job to do. I don't want to put you in a bad mood, but I don't see that stripes on mine.

I don't think there's much you can do unless you open the phone and ensure the connections for the screen are firmly in place.
Water damage?

Is it possible that the package could've gotten wet during delivery?
Hi Everyone,
I recently bought a Oneplus one and am a bit disappointed with the display. Besides having the yellow part at the bottom, when I look a little at it at an angle I see the screen tint to whitish almost blue and this effect increases as my eyes level to the surface, this is best seen by looking from the right corner of the screen with a black background. Is this normal? I only need my head to be slightly away from the screen to notice it. Also I notice light bleed from the top.
Let me know if this is just an effect of the LCD display and if its normal. I've used amoled displays before this.
Regards,
Bobbie

I don't have this issue on mine. Honestly though, why is it such an issue? The scenario you're describing would just never happen in the normal use of the phone, nobody looks at their phone on such an angle when using it.

Hi Heisenberg,
Thanks for the quick reply. I do notice it during normal use otherwise it wouldn't be a problem. The phone is on the left side of my computer now and as i'm looking at it I notice the whitish blue tint while using a black background.

Fair enough. Dunno what to say though, I have two of these and neither of them have a tint when viewed on any angles. I initially thought my screen protector might be why but that can't be the case because one of them doesn't have a protector on it.

Mine does have a screen protector on it that was already on it when I received it, could it cause some kind of tinting? I only see it from an angle not if i just look down from the top to the bottom of the phone, then it looks perfect.

It's possible. Those films that come already on the phone aren't actually screen protectors as such, well they're not meant to be used for an extended period of time anyway, they're really just to give light protection during the shipping process. I'd recommend you remove that one and get yourself a good tempered glass protector. The Nillkin 9H is exceptional and it's quite cheap too (less than $10).
