CyanogenMod 10 is a free, community built distribution of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
No new weekly builds will be created on get.cm, as we can only have 4.1 or 4.2 and we are already on 4.2.2 nightlies (please see my signature to a link to CM10.1). You can still use CM10 to your heart's content, there just will not be any further builds.

FAQs
Q: My paid application (ex Swype, Swiftkey, Beautiful Widgets) is not there/set by default after a reboot.
A: This is a known Jellybean problem. See here for more details.
Q: Face Unlock isn't working?
A: Use Formula84's Gapps. You can find them with a quick google search .
Q: Got wakelocks?
A: Stop using Facebook and Google Maps. Seriously though, CM10 is not feature complete yet...this stuff is gonna happen.
Q: My signal strength says 4G. Why is there no LTE?
A: E=Edge, 3G = UMTS, H = HSPA/HSPA+, 4G = LTE
Q: My Notification LEDs dont seem to work right?
A: Go to Settings -> Display -> Notification LEDs -> Add each application you want to have a notification for -> Set it to green color and long. (thanks to Richard V. for digging through this!)

The same bug in CM9. We know how to fix it, just need source.

Will the developers be able to fix up the mess that HTC made of multitasking on this phone once the kernel source is released? It is the one thing that is making me want to return this phone.

neither of those are complete, not daily drivers as of yet, need source then they will be great alternatives.
As far as fixing the MT issue, hard to say. I'd say that once we get source that someone will be able to do something with it ..hopefully..
I'm using cm9 alpha 4 and the multitasking is very improved. I'm impressed with this ROM for not having kernel source everything is very smooth.

Basically every custom rom has multitasking fixed, and there's also scroslers multitasking mod, as someone already mentioned.

AOKP is actually pretty complete and stable. NFC isn't working among other small things, but its a definitely good daily driver.

I'd say AOPK (M6.1) is just fine as a daily driver. It's stable and everything important works. (wifi, data, bluetooth, etc). Multitasking is great on it.

Has it really been fixed or just improved? Does it still kill an app after a certain amount of time? I was under the impression that multitasking was just improved greatly, and only greatly depending on your usage. Works well for some scenarios and not at all for others... Android is killing apps after a certain amount of time no matter what. Probably fixable completely after source though..

Using the Multitasking Mod is an improvement, but by no means fixed. Read up on another thread that the S4 SOC is a little memory hungry too. Hopefully we can claw back some of that RAM while still keeping things stable once the source is released (damn you AT&T).

I realize there are things that still don't work but I have always been under the impression that to be considered a daily drive a ROM must be stable and have mostly everything working. AOKP fits that category. Of course if there is a feature not yet working that is important to an individual then the ROM is not yet ready for that person but in any case when all major functions are working as well as the majority of features I'd say it can be called a daily driver. Wasn't trying to call you out.

I didn't mean anything by that, I always interpreted daily driver as an opinion type thing like it's my daily driver. I was only posting it to let others know what doesn't work, in case burst, and camcorder are important to people. No hard feelings.

This had to of been one of the easiest ports ever. lol..
This ROM is amazing. One of the best I've seen so far on the Evo Shift. Pretty much everything works out of the box so far. I love the high resolution layout. The tiny text gives me a headache, but I know you're already working on that. I checked out the camera and if you go into settings and set it to 4MP it starts working. You can then put it back up to 5MP. Camera also works fine in barcode scanner, etc. Still need to test the GPS (I'm inside right now but wi-fi based location works without issue).
I installed the Google Now apk from this thread, it it works great.
BTW, the market got stuck on downloading at one point, but a reboot fixed it.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback!! I'm glad you enjoy my work! I'll start the Google Now soon I need help from a friend with the whole small text thing, then I'll launch into other things. Thanks!!

Forgot to mention, "Paranoid Settings" in the system settings app causes a FC. Is this a known issue?
I've noticed too but I think I can fix it with something simple.. Thanks for letting me though
~ Important Side Note
I've got someone to help me with getting Jelly Bean for everyone. I'm NOT guaranteeing that I will get it booted. I'll let everyone know if I have the Rom booted or not either 7/25/12 or 7/26/12. All this work is making me dizzy lol. I can't wait to see if I can get it booted! There will be no developing on this paranoid android Rom FOR NOW due to me focusing on 4.1 for everyone. Cheers
~Mega
Awesome dude. Great job. I am glad you got paranoid. I love this on my nook color.
I'm all thumb's
You're doing a great job! Keeping the shift alive!
I would thank you both but I'm limited and I'm glad you like my paranoid. Just can't focus on 2 Roms at once so most of my focus will be towards 4.1 for the time being. I know that 4.1 will bump the Shift up a lil and keep it out the Low Activity & Legacy Devices AKA HTC Hero CDMA. Still shocked they got it before we did. Well it sure did motivate me to start 4.1 I'm getting help from Shelnutt2 with my 4.1. So all creds go to him! Without him I wouldn't know where to begin Have a great day and looking forward to getting 4.1 to the shift
About to release another ICS Rom. Just to give a preview its going to be my own remix of everything mashed up. I've got to do some work on it when I wake up, It is based off somewhat LG .. Can't share too much or I'll ruin it lol .. It will be released tomorrow

Modifying /system/build.prop to add the line below will make it so that "Paranoid Settings" starts working (don't know which version of paranoid android you're using, so I had to guess).
Code:
ro.pa.version=paranoidandroid-pa_speedy-1.5a-25jun2012-170644
Then going into Paranoid Settings -> "Hybrid Settings" -> "Default Status Bar Density" you can change how big you want it. 160 DPI works for me. You can also change other apps to have different DPIs.

They are both broken in some capacity....id wait until they both work 100% then make a choice.
CM10 is better atm, however this is my opinion. I'd say install cm10 with the blue and black theme. Along vwith the circle battery mod and run it for a day.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
You can try both of them out yourself ....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
At this point I find both of them to be almost equally stable with CM10 narrowly out performing AOKP. I use AOKP because I like it more, but like everyone else I think you should just try both.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
Can only speak for CM10, but it's been a great experience over the last week I've been using it. Camera (stills, video, and panorama) works very, very reliably.
Only one thing to worry about - the 8/19 build and the 8/21 build are almost identical, but the 8/19 build has quieter speaker phone output while the 8/21 build makes the caller's voice quiet on the other end. Personally I went back to the 8/19 build for that reason.
I did enjoy AOKP 6.3/6.4 while I was on it, but I've found CM10 to be a more reliable and polished experience so far. Can't speak for AOKP JB.
I use AOKP,but the best thing to do is to try out both, you can't go wrong with either. To make things better both Devs help each other out which makes it a win for our community. To top things off I believe Rohan is still in high school which shows off his talent and potential.

I have no major issues on the 8/19 build of CM10. Builds after that have some minor issues now that the nightlies have started; they primarily seem to be coming from upstream. I imagine in the next week or so it'll all be cleared up.
I use CM10 as my daily driver now, and I have found it to be a polished Jellybean experience. I flashed AOKP for a few days but found the layout of CM10 to be laid out in a more sensible way. Both have problems but CM10 has a larger community on our XDA forum as of now. The devs of both mods are cooperating to produce two ROMs that allow for the best user experience possible.
The only problem I have found with CM10 is that, when streaming audio, there will be crashes sometimes. It happens once or twice daily. Everything else works smoothly and will only get better as h8 (the CM10 dev) begins to fully incorporate project butter.

No its not, never has been
AOKP is built by using device, vendor and kernel trees used by CM. The framework, applications, etc are based off of AOSP. CM also based on those same things from AOSP.
CM and AOKP are closer to siblings, rather than parent/child.

You will never know unless you try. The deal breaker I grabbed AOKP bec it was running full audio and music in my car bluetooth - for me thats kind of a big deal. I have the same sound issue as in jellyTime, Andromedus, Codename Android...
Every JellyBean roms show the same problem of sound and i don't know yet the cause !!!
The next jelly bean rom wich goes really nice...but...sound issues...after first call everything silent
...I'm getting sad...always get the taste but not the use
Nice finally
at last there is a theme for this rom, but.... if the sound dons´t work I most no test.
The currently test rom from andromadus have also som sound problems.
So I'm still at Andromadus beta 2 there works the most fine
But I would be happy if a new rom comes.

With that being said he WILL take credit for bringing this bad to the bone ROM back to the One S and now to our device as well with a future of support and updates, fixing bugs and the like such as Screentear, camera mic and in call volume.Who IS Team Carbon?andros11

How Do You Run HALO?HALO settings are in carbon/interface
1) You can not clear with out having it set to double tap
2) to clear press and hold then swipe up ..
3) to move around double tap and hold
4) to remove double tap and throw away
5) to enable pull down notifications and select the message symbol at the top..ABOUT HALO:•Halo is in the beta stage and is a little quirky..Expect some UI f/c every thing will still work you will just get the message..
•If you set status bar to never expand your f/c should be nearly non existent..I am aware of the bugs as i am running it now no need to report.
•over the next few days expect this to get substantially better i could wait to share until then but i believe you all will be happy to try it as is..
•Experiment for your self to decide what set up makes this work the best and dont be afraid to share here.
• Be sure to get the app from the play store to provide full functionality..ISSUES:Hardware Keyboard Must Be Turned Off In Settings To Activate Software KB. A Flashable Fix Will Be Posted TonitePLEASE Visit The Original ROM Thread HERE and Thank $Droid$ For His Generosity In Allowing Me To Give Most Of You Your First Taste Of HALOUnofficial Carbon v1.7 JB 4.2.2 with HALO v1.1

Because I'm so excited for halo, I might just try this even though I usually don't use ports. Thanks for porting this!

You're VERY welcome! I hope you enjoy it! Do please bear in mind though that it IS just in the Beta stages and will get better & better all the time. Also, as a major feature all the little quirks that existed in my original port of CarbonROM seem to have been stomped on by $Droid$. The FC's that popped up from time to time for no apparent reason and the fact that I couldn't get e-mail working in the last are finally GONE. Plus, 1080p video is cranking along smoothly now too as well as flawless PIE. It's a GREAT ROM and I believe everyone is going to like it MUCH better this time. He is a fantastic developer and I'm always pleased to be able to share his work with everyone. ENJOY! :good:
actually could you tell me what carbon ROM is exactly? all i really know is that it formed from liquidsmooth, and it's one of the few ROMs that was given early access to PA/HALO, and it's a lot like PA.
This will tell you more than I could......

HALO has been updated to full working capacity. To update your original download, simply go to recovery, format system & flash the new ROM.

If you will use your file manager and go into system/apps & delete Google calendar you can then reinstall your normal 4.2.2 Gapps over the top of everything. That will put it back to normal & syncing the way it should. Evidently something got corrupted in the original Google Calendar when It was preinstalled. This procedure will replace it.
I'm using carbon on my gnex and it is amazing! Got a mt4gs chillin on my desk at home so I may have to throw this on there and give it a whirl!

You're gonna like it. Turned out fully functional with this port. Smoother, 1080p recording, more stable (my port), HALO. Like a different animal.

I just got XenonHD running this morning between project "requests" here at work. I'm going to check it out for a while and see if BullDoze minds if I turn it loose over here for everyone. Right now it looks GREAT though!

Soft keyboard doesn't work?

Just a few things I noticed while playing around, the dark carbon toggle doesn't do anything haha, the two stage camera doesn't actually take the pic just the halfway point makes it focus (touching the blue shutter onscreen is fine though), and Settings > Storage FC's.. But nonetheless daily driver fosho!

Yeah, sorry, I'll try to get up a fix for that today. Just turn off the hardware KB in settings/Lang-KB and it'll work normally until you reboot. It'll save the proper state from a nandroid though.

I noticed the toggle is really light anyway but won't work at all from a theme.
