few question regaurding lumia 800 - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everyone,
i am planing to purchase lumia 800 but i have few doubts regaurding this phone
here they go:-
1. how is the battery backup ?
2. will there be no upgrade after the 7.8 ?
3. is the white version built of same polycarbonate non painted material?
4. is there a way for bluetooth file transfer?
plz reply soon...

1. I assume you mean battery life? It's supposed to be "fixed" now with the latest Nokia firmware, but it's still no better than average for a smartphone.
2. Nobody knows. We don't even know everything that 7.8 will have. There's a possibility of a 7.9, I guess, but I'm not expecting it.
3. Unknown, but probably. You can probably find a detailed spes sheet online.
4. Not currently. There was a way to install custom ROMs on some Lumia 800s, but it requires an old bootloader that new phones don't ship with.

IS it possible to port the lumia rom to HD7?

In the form of custom rom?
heard the lumia 800 latest firmware has excellent battery life.
No, it would be of no benefit as the enhancements provided by firmware updates are device specific.
It's not that the lumia 800 12070 firmware has excellent battery life. It has excellent battery life in comparison to the awful battery life of fw version 11500.

I would imagine the enhancements are done in the Lumia's drivers. Because of how roms are setup, drivers are stored in the XIP, while the Windows system is stored in SYS. You could port the SYS from the Lumia, but the XIP would be impossible, since if you tried, you could brick your phone. Each XIP need to support the phones specific hardware.
Look here at the official cab update thread, and you will see that the Lumia 800 has had more driver updates then.. well.. pretty much every other phone (and it didn't have a NoDo release!).
it seems that HTC refuse to optimise their drivers.
You cannot because they are driver specific i.e. in this case its Lumia specific. Moreover its the same OS just the drivers are different, optimized and well done by Nokia.
Seems like all other competitors will soon loose their WP market to Nokia altogether.

Lumia 800 Questions

Hey Frndz....
I'v made the decision to buy Nokia Lumia 800 in coming days...

I read on the Forums that Lumia 800 is unhackable at the moment,
its fine for me as can afford to buy apps from market place ( but good if free )
1. What if i install cracked apps thru Tom XAP installer????
2. Is their any way to Unlock or Install cracked apps on this phone???
3. What are Homebrew apps???
4. I stay in India, n Micro-sims are out of stock or not available her,
will the cropped micro-sims work properly???
also, heard that the micro sims available are jus for data usage and not for calls...

1. You can't ask that kind of question here. XDA does not support the cracking of paid apps for free use.
2. See #1.
3. Homebrew apps are those that are made by developers that are not able to be submitted to the marketplace and stuff. For example, apps that require developer unlock or interop unlock due to certain accesses they require to perform certain special functions.
4. I purchased a sim cutter and successfully cropped my sim. It works perfectly fine in my Lumia 800.

At&t HTC hd7s wp7.8 wp8 updates?

Hello to all!
I own an HTC hd7s from at&t running wp7.5. The only tweak I've done to this phone is the sd card upgrade to 32gb. Everything else is factory stock.
My question is does anyone knows if at&t will be releasing the 7.8 update for this device? I would like to keep it legit....
But if no plans are out there for updates for this device I'll be more than willing to hack away this phone.
So in my willingness to hack the hd7s, are there any roms being cooked for this device to upgrade to 7.8 or wp8?

No one knows the plans of ATT man. I myself don't think there will be anything for us officially (HTC Titan here). But seeing that the 7.8 update was pulled from MS and Nokia's servers (due some issues with 7.8), you might be waiting for an additional amount of time. But like I said, I don't think the update will be officially released for the other phones on ATT. Like always, the other OEMS (Samsung/HTC) haven't pushed the US carriers into giving its users updates.
Some questions from greece!

You can purchase a 32gb micro Sd card for about $20.00 us dollars. The process is very simple. You can find videos on YouTube that show you how to do this. Make sure you back up your data
For the rest of your questions.... I don't know...

Why you people want to screw your mind with this topic?
Just install Deepshining V8.0 or Dynamics V2.0, they work on the HD7 and the HD7S with no problems...
and get done with this "update issue", when the chefs create a new ROM based on the new update, then it's moment to update the ROM...
Pretty easy...
Thanks faustolg, now question those roms will update to what version of WP?

8858 I believe
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
Both are the same ROM version
7.10.8858.136
there are minor ("proprietary") differences, is up to you what ROM you'll keep.
Both are compatible with WP Backup, Windows Phone Device Manager + TouchXperience, but Dynamics is the only one that is Cab Sender compatible...
A few dates ago I found a nice piece of software called "seveneighter" it automates the WP 7.8 update. And viola! 45 minutes later my HTC hd7s is now WP 7.8!

Nokia 1020 O2..Unbrand or not

I've always Jailbroken iPhones or put stock Android ROMs on phones with bloatware and advertorial crap.
I've bitten a bullet and bought the 64gb 1020 for the camera. As a photographer I've been pleasantly surprised - an improvement on the iPhone 5.
I'm not keen on Windows on a phone but I'm sure I'll get used to it. After all I use W8 & W7 elsewhere and am not a linux bigot just yet.
I deleted the O2 folders in the 1020 but there may be more to the debranding than this. I read that MS mandate an 'open phone' so that all branding can be removed.
Why should i debrand the 1020 further ? Will i end up in update hell ?
What are the advantages & disadvantages of new stock Nokia firmware
Advices please readers.
Thanks

If you debrand (this is that which I advice):
- The updates logically most quickly (the "most fast" circuit = directly OEM and not operator).
- No operator splashscreen.
- No parameters owner operator.
- Access to the VVM (if available according to different condition).
- Options/features no restricted.
- And certainly something else.

Thank you. I cannot find any O2 branding visible since I deleted the two Windows O2 Folders...Priority Moments and O2.
So no O2 splashscreen either.
I was more concerned about what I could not see, from O2, that might affect its use.
I installed an Australian unbranded ROM on my 64GB 1020 which started life locked to UK O2 and so far no problems.
