I got the Verizon S3 about 2 weeks ago. I purchased insurance on the phone at the time that comes with a program called Digital Leash made by protectcell. It is security software that can track the phone, wipe it if lost or stolen, etc.
I have rooted phones before, but I have never done so with this product already installed on my phone. It is designed to prevent being uninstalled from the phone. I know it is customary to remove antivirus/security software before rooting.
Will having this program on my phone interfere with the rooting process?

Model # SCH-1535
Android 4.0.4
Any ideas? Best guess? Has anyone rooted with this software installed?

I've been with T-Mobile ever since John Legere took over and feel like the company keeps improving under his care.
We just recently updated some of our phones / plans causing us to upgrade one phone to the Galaxy S5 and we got the Alcatel Pop7 tablet as a freebie.
Oddly enough, both devices came rooted.
I checked around to make sure T-Mobile isn't advertising this as a new thing or talking about it, but found nothing. The two devices didn't even come from the same location. The phone was new in box (all tags) from a store and the tablet came from their distribution site in Kentucky via UPS.
To be clear, they are rooted, but they did require installation of SuperSU.
Has anyone else encountered this on new T-Mobile devices?
Hi guys. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge G935F. However, despite having the latest update on my phone, Samsung Pay is nowhere to be found. Do you think a firmware re installation would help? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Also, as a sidenote, I have not made any modifications to the device, as the void counter still states 0.
I also think its worth noting that I previously had a rooted S6. Would this prevent me from using Samsung Pay on my S7?

I read that the latest update on the "F" firmware removed the Samsung Pay App from the phone. The person that reported it, speculated that it might be because Samsung is about to activate Samsung Pay in European countries and they removed it until the finalized app would be available. Again, that was just speculation. But it does appear that the app was purposefully removed by Samsung for some reason.

Yes. It's only available if you meet all Samsung Pay criteria. Check their website. It has to be model AND carrier specific.
It's not on mine either. And where I live, they don't have chip & PIN protection as well (yes the cards have the chip won't ask for my PIN). So not a huge loss.

Ok thanks. My model is the G935F and my SIM is a T-Mobile one. So they probably removed it.
I checked on this with Samsung. They don't have any idea if it will reach international unlocked versions. As of now is only avail in US and carrier locked phones.
Ah got it not sure how I missed that. Much appreciated.
Yes just a small reminder ... the Galaxy S6\S6 Edge\S6 Edge+ international edition are all still waiting to get Samsung Pay... I just bought the G935F.. I really hope\wish we get S Pay soon
Hello All,
I just purchased a Galaxy S6 today. Previously I have used (and loved!) the OnePlus One. I was actually hoping to upgrade to the OP3 here soon. However, a new job, a new town, and apparently a new phone. The only service that works where I live is Verizon. OP phones are not compatible with Verizon. :crying::crying::crying: So I must retire my poor baby and move onto a inferior product (based on how 'easy' it has been to install a custom ROM).
When I was doing the OP1, it was easy. I could do it in my sleep. The GS6 on the other hand, I can't even find a method of installing TWRP which actually works. I know that Total Wireless uses Verizon towers so I imagine that I basically have a Verizon phone. Is this possible with this phone?
I really can't stand the version of Android that is installed on this thing. Plus the bloat ware is making me sick already. HELP!!!!

Sorry, no way to root a Verizon S6.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Can you recommend a good phone like the OP phones that are Verizon compatible?
Nexus 6p will work.
So it seems I was sold a bill of goods by Total Wireless. 18 months after buying a brand new S6 I am still stuck on Lollipop with no hope of a system update (apparently TW is the last to update.) The apps I need to run my business now require Marshmallow or better.
Has anyone found a way to root and update this phone?
I'm a newbie to cellphone rooting but do have an engineering degree and can follow a good set of instructions!
Please tell me I don't have to throw out this piece of junk just yet!
Thanks!

Late to the party, I know.
I have HAD been a big Samsung fan for many years. Due to finances, I have never chosen to purchase the latest greatest model of any phone.
So when my S5 died, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge a few years ago. I usually run a phone stock for a year or more until I want a change, then I flash some new ROMs to breathe some life into an aging phone.
I did not do my homework last time, and I am INCREDIBLY disappointed to learn that the locked bootloader of my specific Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935P) will NEVER allow me to flash another ROM (and I may be stuck at Android 8.0).
From my research tonight, Samsung has continued down this road. If so, I'm done with them.
Where else can I look for a good solid Android phone that will give me plenty of time and plenty of tools/ROMs to customize it?
Thanks.

You can continue using Samsung, you just need to be more selective of which particular device/model number you purchase. Samsung still makes devices that do not have locked bootloader. All of the US carrier branded Samsung devices pretty much have a locked bootloader, but some of the international models have locked bootloader and do not come with the carrier branded pre-installed bloatware. You just need to SIM unlock them to be used on US carrier networks.
