Samsung Pay missing - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi guys. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge G935F. However, despite having the latest update on my phone, Samsung Pay is nowhere to be found. Do you think a firmware re installation would help? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Also, as a sidenote, I have not made any modifications to the device, as the void counter still states 0.

I also think its worth noting that I previously had a rooted S6. Would this prevent me from using Samsung Pay on my S7?

I read that the latest update on the "F" firmware removed the Samsung Pay App from the phone. The person that reported it, speculated that it might be because Samsung is about to activate Samsung Pay in European countries and they removed it until the finalized app would be available. Again, that was just speculation. But it does appear that the app was purposefully removed by Samsung for some reason.

Yes. It's only available if you meet all Samsung Pay criteria. Check their website. It has to be model AND carrier specific.
It's not on mine either. And where I live, they don't have chip & PIN protection as well (yes the cards have the chip won't ask for my PIN). So not a huge loss.

Ok thanks. My model is the G935F and my SIM is a T-Mobile one. So they probably removed it.

I checked on this with Samsung. They don't have any idea if it will reach international unlocked versions. As of now is only avail in US and carrier locked phones.

Ah got it not sure how I missed that. Much appreciated.

Yes just a small reminder ... the Galaxy S6\S6 Edge\S6 Edge+ international edition are all still waiting to get Samsung Pay... I just bought the G935F.. I really hope\wish we get S Pay soon

Samsung Pay on International Galaxy S6

I bought samsung galaxy s6 (920i version) on ebay to use on AT&T. I got a couple of ota updates so far, but I am wondering whether my s6 will get "samsung pay" app in over the air update. Mine is international model unlocked, so I was wondering what would happen next when samsung pay launches in the us. (Maybe samsung pay app will be on galaxy store?)
Samsung Pay is built-in to your S6. We only need to wait for its implementation on the vendor side.

But don't I need a software update to install samsung pay app (which definitely isn't present on my phone yet) on my phone? Samsung website on samsung pay says I will need a ota software update to install samsung pay on s6. What I am wondering is whether the update that will install samsung pay system will come to my phone, which is international galaxy s6 (920i)although samsung pay is only available in the us and korea.
Yes, you would need a service payment app. This will be available once vendors/credit card companies implement Samsung Pay.

Thanks for your reply! But do you think I will be able to download those apps even though mine (international -singapore version of s6) doesn't get those apps via ota update (as samsung says they will start the service only in us and korea?)
To be able to use it your local credit card company must 1st support it together with local vendors. As youe mentioned only US and south Korean markets will go 1st. If successful other markets including yours will follow.

Yes as I am in the United States, samsung pay will be supported from Sept 28th. On that day, carrier-branded phones (at&t/tmobile)will get software update that will install samsung pay system on their phones. But will my phone (unlocked international) get software update that will install samsung pay on Sept 28th?? That is exact question of mine... sorry for bugging but it is very important question for me thanks as always!
Call your US credit card company for details. I feel they can already answer most of your questions as the implementation date is near. It is they who will give you credit and use it thru your S6.
I've found the link to be able to download the Samsung Pay Beta .apk file but I haven't figured out how to get it to install. Does someone else want to try? I'm stuck on a Samsung S6 Edge running 5.0.2. I wonder if you have to have 5.1.1 to run it.
Korea Link - https://kr.mpay.samsung.com/apk
US Link - https://us.mpay.samsung.com/apk
Here's a download link for the Samsung Pay .apk file I found on the Korean link. It lets me install it on my Samsung S6 Edge+ running android 5.1.1.

If you don't get a OTA with Samsung Pay, you can probably install the APK from apkmirror or something like that. I would be surprised if Samsung Pay checks model number instead of carrier/location. If it is anything like Android Wallet/Pay, you can install and use it in the country where is active regardless of phone model number. I.e. I have used Android Pay in the US but I can not use it back in Denmark.

From what I've read, it's only built-in on the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. The regular S6 and S6 edge will receive an ota update to enable it (I think this means the OTA will be Android 5.1.1). I am using the SM-G920i (seems to be the Australian version) on AT&T and I received the 5.1.1 update a few days ago. I did manage to download and install the APK from the Korean version of the site, signing in with my regular samsung account (same as on the phone) and just did a google translate on the page to find where I needed to tap to download the file. My cousin has the S6 on Sprint with OS v5.0.2 and the APK didn't install, so you definitely need to be on AT LEAST 5.1.1 for it to install.
Mine installed and runs, but won't go past the screen with the "start" button - I'm guessing b/c the beta hasn't activated in the US yet (which I think is slated for 8/28) with a full release in the US market on 9/25.

I called today and they told me to download the Samsung Plus app from the Google playstore. I downloaded it agreed to the terms and logged in and then inside the app there was a link that said "Join Samsung Pay Beta". So far it doesn't do anything, but it seems promising that it might work tomorrow after the beta has officially begun.

Nope, but in the same boat as you and several others here - got a 920i on AT&T here in the U.S. But seems that Samsung Pay comes bundled with an OS update that of course our handsets will not see as it is targeted to specific country\carrier handset variants. Hoping someone here figures out how to back the apks and associated frameworks off one of those working devices so we can perhaps apply them to ours.
I also have a Galaxy S6 G920i that I bought on e-bay. Mine came from Singapore. I thought I was smart by buying an locked phone. I thought for sure I'd get all the updates sooner that everyone else. FAIL! T-Mobile variants get most updates about a week or two before me.
What really sucks is one of the main reasons I wanted the S6 was samsung pay. Had I knew I was going to run in to this problem I would never have bought it.
I too use my G920i on AT&T and have been searching the web like crazy for a way to get Samsung pay to work on my phone. Has anyone had any success getting it to work on a G920i or G920f? If you have, please share your wisdom.
Any luck guys ? with samsung pay on s6 G920i?

Which Galaxy S7 to get for AT&T if bought outright and want to avoid bloat?

Quick background story, I've been using an HTC phone since the M7, and owned all the M Flagships and currently using an AT&T Branded M9. My wife is currently using a AT&T branded Galaxy S5. I really liked how open my HTC phones are, and all 3 of them had been able to be Fully SIM Unlocked, S-OFF, and can run any compatible ROM. The AT&T Branded GS5 of course only can use AT&T Software and its been a pain waiting on AT&T for patches and updates.
We're planning to replace them both with new Galaxy S7s and since we're planning to buy them outright, my question is which one should we buy? From I read it looks like all units have the same hardware, but the TMO variants seems to at least have the bootloader unlocked and should be SIM Unlocked if I bought it outright.
Our basic requirements.
- Sim unlocked(able)
- Bootloader Unlocked(able)
- Able to use Android Pay/Samsung Pay in the USA
- Rooting is nice but not required, and as long as it don't break A.Pay/S.Pay
- Able to work on AT&T with little or no issue (not missing any LTE Bands, etc)
- Open to get the Exynos model if can still support A.Pay/S.Pay in USA and elsewhere.
- Able to flash debloated or custom ROMs if needed
Its been awhile since i did any work on any Samsung Phones, so I don't know if its just as easy to flash ROMs and Recoveries like my HTCs
Thanks for any feedback on the matter.
You want the tmo version.

It figures as much. How easy or difficult is it to flash non-carrier rom? I know people are just started getting their S7s, did the s6 have any issues with flashing a clean rom and keeping all A.Pay and S.Pay?
There's no development currently on these phones since the sources haven't dropped yet since the phone hasn't technically launched, after mar 11 samsung will release some sources.
If you're looking to remove bloat on non-rooted phones your only options is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro&hl=en with a rooted rom android/samsung pay wont work.
Last year with the S6 I know for sure the international versions worked just fine with AT&T's LTE network. But last year all models used the same modem (Shanon 333), but this year the international version and the U.S. version are different and both have integrated modem and that throws in an uncertainty. I see no reason why the International versions worked last year with Samsung's modem but not this year, but until someone reports with first-hand experience I would not pull the trigger on the international version (Exynos).
I used SM-G920I (S6) and SM-G928G (S6 Edge+) and both worked flawlessly on AT&T's network.

Hmmm, still missing out on Samsung Pay eh, I wonder if there would be a non-carrier version of the phone we can get in the states with full support of all avaliable features and services. :fingers-crossed:
I'd like to bump this old thread for updates now that the S7 has been around for some time. I'm looking to get an S7, and it looks like the G930U variant might be the one to get now- is that right? I have the same requirements as the original poster, but I'll list them anyway:
-Able to work on AT&T with no issue (I read somewhere that some aspects of AT&T LTE are not supported? What impact does this have?)
-root is required (is it true that rooting prevents being able to encrypt the phone?)
-no bloat or bloat is removable (seems this is the main benefit of G930U?)
-SD card slot (seems like all US models have the SD card slot?)
Are there different versions of the G930U? Is this, for example, the right one: http://a.co/6QgYIxA ?
Thanks

Samsung pay international version

Hello agian,
I tried to get my samaung pay to work, pressing the back button for 1 to 2 seconds, did not work, I don't have the samsung pay on the gear app either. I am assuming I have the international version as I dont live in the US or Asia so is it that? Or the fact that I don't have Samsung's phone?
Will the international ever get it? I was completely unaware that my unit might not have samsung pay. Cheers.
I think the international version may be gimped intentionally and might not ever support SPAY.
Is it possible to install the samsung pay app on the gear s3 international version? Do you know if it works? Or it first chech the CSC of the device before running to make sure its a supported country version?
Samsung gear s3 India will get Samsung pay in few days which i assume is an International version
officially lauched on march 22nd, but yet waiting for update. they said a week or two.
watch this youtube video. sorry, i cannot paste url. so i am just pasting the code.

The S7e'rs got it working. You have to install the right combinations of Samsung Pay Framework and the Samsung Pay App. Since the UK phones don't ship with the Framework pre-installed some people got better/easier results flashing a different "F" CSC ROM that included Samsung Pay pre-installed. BTU (the UK CSC) gets the most updates fastest so I'm not interesting in changing it. I'm getting a AT&T S8+ Wednesday so I'll pull the APKs (including S Pay) I may need from it to set up my UK phone. I'll post my findings and results.
In terms of Samsung Pay in the U.S., none of the S7e'rs ever got Amex cards to work so I doubt that'll change. Also, for Gear S3 owners, you can use the Gear version of S Pay on a UK phone without any gyrations.

Another question. I hear that if you put in an ATT sim into the SM-955F phone all the ATT bloatware gets
installed. Is this true? If so can you completely remove it?
Also can you completely remove the usual Samsung bloatware?

Nope. Samsung's achieved the Holy Grail with U.S. phones. S8's for all the carrier phones are SM-G955U. So rather than having different model numbers (EG: SM-G955A), different per carrier s/w, and sometimes even carrier specific h/w modifications, all phones are the same with carrier s/w revisions occurring based on the SIM inserted. That's what you read.
International unlocked phones are completely pure. Meaning nothing about them is influenced in any way by a carrier. They'll be some regional additions (EG: UK specific browser bookmarks, pre-installed apps, etc.) but they can all be removed. The best part is getting updates directly from Samsung. With a phone as new and complex as the S8 there will be tons of updates both on the feature and bug elimination side.
As AT&T'rs we'll lose some stuff. Like HD Voice and NumberSync but gain things like Samsung's Smart Call which lets you dial businesses that you don't have the number for directly from the dialer. I've done both AT&T and grey market phones before and I'll post what we gain and lose once my UK S8 arrives.

Need help to use US Samsung Pay in Canadian S7

I bought an unlocked S7 SM-G930W8 model off ebay then realized that its Samsung Pay is different with the same app in US model. It has no stores, deals to take advantage of Samsung pay promotions. Also I didn't see anywhere to earn points. I uninstalled and reinstalled from Galaxy app but still the same.
The phone is from Telus and updated to latest version (still Android 7). I wonder is it possible to put the US Samsung Pay on this phone? Thanks for help.
