Straight talk and micro sims - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Does anyone know of they have them? I'm going to straight talk soon but I need a micro sim for the One X.

Yes, they have both regular and micro sims. After you pick your carrier (at&t compatible, t-mobile compatible or unlocked), it will give you the option for sim size.

You could just cut it too.

Where can you buy them? Also, is straight talk considered prepaid? Do I buy minutes?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

Don't know about where to buy them besides Walmart, but its prepaid.
There's plans so you don't have to buy minutes.

You can get them from straight talks website for 15. I think was looking for a friend a while ago.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

The sim cards can only be purchased through the website. They don't sell them at Walmart. Straight Talk is considered prepaid, although not in the traditional sense. You don't buy minutes, because the plans are essentially all-you-can-eat. I like to think of it as post-paid without the contract - since prepaid to me means I put X dollars on my account and it deducts whatever from it depending on what I do.
With the sim card, you have to get the $45/month or $60/month (international) plan. To refill, you either buy a card, or set up the autofill option when making an account. With the autofill option, the plan is essentially the same as having a plan through at&t. Once per month it will charge $45+taxes and fees to your credit card, and you'll have unlimited talk, text, and data.
Beyond that it's very easy to set up. The kit you receive via FedEx has all of the settings, and the website activation is really easy to use. The last time I helped someone setup an account with Straight Talk, it took about 15 minutes including porting a number from Verizon.

I just cut my regular Straight Talk sim down to micro size and it worked just fine.

Straighttalksim.com. Plan is $45 a month. Sim card is $15

Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket on att gophone???

I'm going to get a used Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket in a few, and I was wondering if I could get att's gophone service on it? I would love the 50 dollar a month service but it seems a little bit too good to be true. Anybody have any info or tips for me? Or will this work out? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using xda app-developers app
I'f I'm not mistaken you must have a specific type of gophone sim card for it to work, like one out of a prepaid smart phone through them. I highly recommend looking at straight talk. They have a BYOD "Bring Your Own Device" program where they will sell you an AT&T compatible sim card with unlimited everything for $45.00/month. That's what I'm using and my service is phenomenal, no dropped calls, get service in building's etc....
And straight talk is cheaper...how is their internet speeds? Fast or slow, because its not a straight talk phone so I'm assuming that the speeds will be kept at a minium.

I use straight talk with my skyrocket and I average between 3-7 mbps.

Cool, that's good enough for me. I did the math and att has got to be crazy for what they want with a smartphone plan. 50 dollars a month for 250 min for talk, unlimited text and 1gb of data for 50 a month??? Crazy! Thanks again for the straightalk suggestion! I just ordered the att sim card for it.. but how did you get your phone unlocked so you could get straight talk?

You do not have to unlock your phone to use it with straight talk because the sim card you purchase through them is for att compatible phones so it's the same bands minus lte. When you get the sim card in the mail there will be instructions on how to activate the sim and add an apn.

You are a life saver bro! Now I don't have hunt att down to get a unlock code. Thank you for this info! Can't wait to get my Sim card i'm the mail!

just make sure you remove the trakfone proxy because some services reject access to it, causing the app(s) to return network errors and become unusable.
Thanks for the heads up. So not putting the proxy number in it won't effect the overall service right? Like the texting and calling?

Solavei wireless

What are your thoughts on this company? Both as a user, or a reseller?
The info I gather is you get unlimited everything, with a 4gb data cap on T-Mobile, for $49.99 a month. That's $10 less than the T-Mobile plan which is only 2gb cap. And $5 more than straight talk which throttles you if you stream anything. Thoughts?

There are several users claiming to be on their service, without being in their mlm. Lots of interesting features allowed over other tmo mvno. But no recent "deals". Activation, sim, shipping and such start to add up. Coming close to tmo's latest $70 unlimited noncontract plan. I'd be willing to check the service out if they offered the same deal as before of the end of last year.
Mlm? Also there's no activation anymore it's just $49 a month now.

Anyways on Solavei, it is an interesting MVNO, much due to the fact it has free roaming and conditional call forwarding. Both postpaid features, with Solavei the only exception. They also state the data (4gb) at which they throttle, which is a trustworthy action to the consumers unlike ST. If you can actually refer people well, this has the potential to be an incredibly cheap or even free plan.

Bumping this thread up, I joined as a customer as well as in sales, it's legit for sure, met with my sponsor and all, so far I love this whole idea and evening about this. The two selling points for me was data size with the rest of the features being unlimited, and having not just T-Mobile, but also having AT&T available as needed.
AND I got a completely mint s3 for $300.

ATT sends HTC One XL without LTE Sim Card

Wife just got an HTC ONE XL.... came with a sim card.
Had a hard time getting it activated... but eventually ....
After playing with it for a couple hours i found that it would not send SMS images.
Finally did a chat with ATT and was informed that the account had been changed to a Pay Data plan and that the Sim card listed was not a LTE sim card.
Hard to fathom that 2 people before never made that connection and that they actually sent an LTE phone without the proper SIM card.
Said it will take 3 days to get the LTE card when the phone was sent overnight.

AT&T never informed me that they had no 4g in our area. Needless to say I found out the same way you did. They're really "good" for that.

Turns out that everything was wrong...
1) it is an HTC One VX not HTC One LX
2) ATT only uses one type (different sizes) of SIM cards and they are 3g/4g and LTE compatible.
3) The person who activated the phone, put the phone on a Pay per use plan (not LTE)...
4) The rep I just got off the phone with, is fixing that... temp 200mb LTE plan until the Unlimited LTE plan is put back on, Credit to cover the cost and fixed a number of other issues (like turning me on paperless billing).
So I was in the wrong thread... sorry bout that.

What carrier should I choose?

Okay so I'm 18 have a minimum wage job "yay my life is so great" blah. Minimum wage here is $7.25 btw. But I feel like taking on some responsibility and leaving my parents cellphone plan (AT&T) and going to T-Mobile. Good idea or no? Sprint is pointless in my area because it barely gets any service here. And Verizon. Just no. Any sort of input is gladly taken into consideration and thanks for all the help! ;*<3

One way to find out is to go into your local cellphone provider establishment and ask how far do reception go. Be sure to ask about their packages there a plan for anyone.

Well from what I know t-mobile in my area gets 3g and at&t gets 4g. But At&t just screws you over. I compared and t-mobile is like $60 a month and at&t is $80 with same exact service package. Just trying to figure out if it's a good idea

Forget all of them contract plans. Straight Talk is way cheaper( 43.22 a month), offer 4g service, att coverage, no contract, and semi-unlimited everything( talk, text, and data.) THe only drawback is that they seem to have temporarily discontinued att sim cards thus its kind of hard to find them. You probably can find one in a phone or on ebay or something.

You pay for the phone in your contract. Buy a phone on swappa or some other site. The money you save off contract makes up for the up front purchase of the phone.

Check out Wal-Mart Family Mobile. I used them for a while. Was very happy. $45 a month for unlimited everything (throttle data after 2GB). Runs on the t-mobile network. Only concern was lack of short code and call forwarding support. Other than that, I just put my account on automatic payment and never had to contact them again after the initial setup. You pay at the end of the month (it's not prepay), there are no contracts, no credit checks, and you can even pay your bill in person at any Wal-Mart.
