ATT sends HTC One XL without LTE Sim Card - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Wife just got an HTC ONE XL.... came with a sim card.
Had a hard time getting it activated... but eventually ....
After playing with it for a couple hours i found that it would not send SMS images.
Finally did a chat with ATT and was informed that the account had been changed to a Pay Data plan and that the Sim card listed was not a LTE sim card.
Hard to fathom that 2 people before never made that connection and that they actually sent an LTE phone without the proper SIM card.
Said it will take 3 days to get the LTE card when the phone was sent overnight.

AT&T never informed me that they had no 4g in our area. Needless to say I found out the same way you did. They're really "good" for that.

Turns out that everything was wrong...
1) it is an HTC One VX not HTC One LX
2) ATT only uses one type (different sizes) of SIM cards and they are 3g/4g and LTE compatible.
3) The person who activated the phone, put the phone on a Pay per use plan (not LTE)...
4) The rep I just got off the phone with, is fixing that... temp 200mb LTE plan until the Unlimited LTE plan is put back on, Credit to cover the cost and fixed a number of other issues (like turning me on paperless billing).
So I was in the wrong thread... sorry bout that.

Ok so im buying it off Craigslist, I don't need to upgrade my plan or anything right? I can just insert 3g sim and it will work? And also the guy im buying it from says the power button is stuck so it doesn't work. Will that interfere with trying to install a custom rom?
Can pop in the SIM from your Cappy, no problem. Personally, I wouldn't buy it due to the power button issue, you will regret it somewhere down the line.

I agree you might regret the power button not working, but that being said I believe cm7 has a setting that allows you to use the volume rocker to wake the phone in place of the power button. Depending on how good a deal your getting it might be worth it.

Why would you buy a phone that you can't turn on? How is that a good deal?
And you need the power button to select items in recovery...
You could stick your 3G sim card in and it should work fine. I work for AT&T though and can tell you that you will not benefit though as far as download speeds go because you will be using a 3G sim card in a 4G capable phone. Just swing by an AT&T store and have them issue you a new 4G sim card. Its free and you'll benefit from it.

This is exactly what you get from someone that works for ATT. My SIM is about 5-6 years old and I still get around 5M download, 1.5M upload. Matter of fact it is a 64K smartchip cingular SIM. Not even ATT.

Only connecting to 2G

been using my phone for a few months now...but suddently this evening... I lost my 4g and only connects to my t-mobile via 2g. I try going to the settings....and when I select the WCDMA/GSM auto mode...I lose service (no bars)...but when I set to GSM only (2g), then I get good 2g signal....
Any thoughts?
I tried hard reset...nothing working

Tmobile is most likely having network issues where u are. Try doing a battery pull and sim card pull. Wait 2 mins then put both back in. if that fails its a network issue.

Maybe T-Mobile finally moved on from the 3G bands designed for that phone.
Unless you are not getting data at all, then you have some APN's to set. Or... some older CM (IIRC) didn't have 3G.

Face this issue with the HTC Glacier months back. They have removed the 3G & 4G basebands from their towers. The only way possible is by unlocking the other bands with the "Qualcomm band unlock" mod/hack here on XDA

Can't use direct carrier billing?

Hey guys,
I used to be able to bill my att account directly when I bought apps on my atrix, but ever since upgrading to the One X, I'm unable to do so anymore.
Calling tech support got me nowhere, they had no idea how to fix it.
Is anyone else having this issue? How'd you fix it?
Thanks!

Direct Carrier Billing
I was wondering if anyone who was previously unable to purchase apps with direct carrier billing are now able to and if they can share what they did. I have an AT&T HTC One X and I also don't see the ability to purchase apps with direct carrier billing. I have read in a few different forums that users with AT&T/Rogers version of the HTC One X are having similar problems but users of the international edition might not have the same problem.
I have carrier unlocked my phone and would really like to use the remaining $60 in my T-Mobile prepaid account to purchase apps instead of it going to waste, and direct carrier billing seems to be my only option. Thanks ahead of time.
---------- Post added at 10:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ----------
By going into App management and force-stopping Google Play and then uninstalling the updates, I was able to access the AT&T bill to carrier option when purchasing an app. I am still trying to get this to work with T-Mobile but I might need to switch plans or buy a day's access to mobile data for it to work.
Does anyone have any experience purchasing apps with carrier billing using a T-Mobile prepaid account?
Just tried that, carrier billing still doesn't show up for me, unfortunately.

This is utter horse ****.
My first One X was able to do direct billing (and I've confirmed this with a purchase of Titanium Backup Pro in my Google Wallet, which states: May 10
Titanium Track charged your AT&T Mobility USA *number deleted* for $6.58. "GOOGLE *Titanium Track" will appear on your billing statement.") Then my dog decided to knock my phone out of my hand, so I got a replacement.
My new One X will NOT let me bill att. This is some shifty, sideway, backwards, secret-handshaking BS.
I'm on 1.85 with GP version 3.7.13... I'm betting it has something to do with the 1.85 update.

I'm new to this phone and was wandering do I need to have it unlocked before using a straight talk sim....I have the att version of the one x btw.....with my note I just put the sim card in and did the apn settings and it worked right away with no unlock.....just wanted to know if the HTC one x works the same way since there both with att......thanks in advance for any help on this......

You've had an attitude in 2 of your 3 posts in this thread. This is a very new device with extremely limited supply currently.
The biggest problem you might run into is being able to change APNs as in stock AT&T guise they're not accessible. If it.pulls APNs from the network automatically, you should.have no problem.

Ha. I've found the One X community to be extremely noob-tolerant and overall less flamey than every other XDA device forum I've been on.
It seems you've been on here long enough to know to use the search function.
Searching "straight talk" in General yielded a bunch of mentions on the T-Mobile thread. Several people stated it should work. But it doesn't seem that anyone here has tried it, and confirmed it to work yet:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=26890042
You need to get it carrier unlocked too.. search there are tons of threads that talk about where you can get it done.
Basically it is just a website that you pay like $7 enter your IMEI in and it spits out an unlock code then you can use the phone on non-ATT carriers. Until you do this you cannot use the phone on any carrier other than ATT.
It worked for me and I get hspa+ speeds.

[Q] Different Carrier??

So I found a HTC One X from AT&T on the side of the road the other day, surprisingly in great condition. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, have SuperCID, and have S-OFF. I was wondering if anyone here knew if it is possible to change this phone over in order to use on the Virgin Mobile network?

When i lost my sensation I used Google play and maps combo to track it within 30'
If imei has been registered with Google it can be easily tracked even without a aim card as long as it gets WiFi signal. And the phone can easily be blacklisted as long as imei is known.
And on the point of using it on virgin mobile if they are at all like Verizon they will have a SIM but only for the 4g data. Like a sprint iPhone. Uses cmda for calls and the sim for data connection.

Karma. If you take someone's property without even trying to return it, you deserve to have your property stolen or destroyed without a word of complaint.
I tried to return the phone....the phone was locked and I was unable to retrieve any numbers from it. There was a missed call on the lockscreen and I called that number but it had been disconnected. I put an ad on craigslist for a "FOUND LOST PHONE", I got a few replies but they were all looking for a different brand of phone.I have found atleast half a dozen phones in the last year and returned everyone of them. It's not like I just picked up the phone and immediately done a factory reset so I could start using it.
