What is the command in terminal emulator to check firmware version - HTC Sensation

Please could someone tell me the command prompt for terminal emulator to check your firmware ? To see what firmware a device is running ? Thank you in advance!

Try the command getprop it will display a lot of info about your device, look for a line called ro.build.display.id, should show your ROM name.

Wow, I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere (I am an accursed Newb)...
ro.build.display.id is ROM NAME?
Here's mine: [ro.build.display.id]: [nuclear_708h9-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D 20120808 test-keys]
This is also the "build number" I can get from settings>about tablet.
The entire thing is the ROM name?
Is this where I learn the name of the ROM & the name of the firmware flashed on it are 2 different things?
Is there a command that will display the name & version of firmware factory-flashed or currently flashed to the ROM?
This is an Allwinner (A13) 2G tablet (ICS 4.0.4). I got it as a gift without the packaging. I've sent email inquiries to AllWinner & AllWinnerTech - maybe I'll get lucky. Meanwhile I'm just stuck on the belief that there must be a way to make this device "tell on itself" - I merely need to find out what it is.

Android update

Does anyone have the leaked update file so I can download without having a data connection on my cell phone? I had to get the leaked update for my Asus but now they have the official on their site. Hoping someone has the att update file so I can do the same.

Here it is as it showed up in my /sdcard/Download/ directory, but I don't know how you can force it to update without going through the actual OTA process.

No. It is an edify type update that contains a PD98IMG type update inside (called firmware.zip).
Even though it is an edify type update, it won't install from recovery unless you hack out some of the ASSERT checks (since recovery doesn't have all the getprop values that a running system has).
Would it be possible to pull the information from the update part, and convert it to a hbkot update.
Just curious, if we were able to, id post it in the guide for easy reference.

How do you put the Inspire 4G into recovery mode? My Asus I can hold down the volume down key and power button to get a specific menu my Inspire doesn't.

You're doing it wrong somehow then because that is exactly how you do it on the Inspire. Make sure fastboot is off in the settings though (Settings->power->fast boot).

Not really. This update contains a number of "patch" files that use a method of updating files in-place by applying a patch that just replaces the parts of the file that changed. It's like a diff file is for text files, but it's binary. The only way I know of to apply these is through edify commands (or manually patching them on a PC first with bsdiff, see: http://linux.die.net/man/1/bsdiff).

[REQ] Kingwolf Kernel

Sorry if this is a dumb question.
I recently saw that in proxusers runnymede 1.5 version, he has kingwolfs kernel itn it.
Is there anyway we can get it extracted and flash it separately to roms we desire?

I think that you can use adb to pull the Kernel (boot.img) from a phone with this kernel installed (not sure but I saw a guide somwhere in Google).
The other way (I just did it to extract the kernel on my phone via the Terminal Emulator):
open the terminal on your phone
type
Code:
cat /dev/block/mmcblk0p22 > /sdcard/boot.img
[*] actually I cannot verify this but the extracted boot.img can be flashed via adb or fastboot and then see the version in the Setings of the phone :)

Rare Baseband

i got this phone (is a tracphone lgl95g) y have flashed weapong2x i want to update my baseband in order for fix gps lock problems (im nicaraguan and my retired mytouch 4g dont have any problems with gps lock ) my baseband says NOV 07 , the lg tool says that my phone is already updated an say version V10F the allinoneg2x tool say the same :S i need help for fix gps or update baseband, i try tutorial but i couldnt done (sorry for my bad english lol)
Geetings e_e/
Maybe you have to do the offline update for it? There is a guide in forums.
Thanx
im trying right now thx for reply
Sorry fir the delay
I followed some tutorials but without success, I think my phone is some other type p999, all in one tool G2X tells me the v10c version is not supported, and I think the baseband chip is not the same as having tmobile, I hope you can help me I know it's ICS is close but I would update my baseband
PD: virtual windows xp with virtualbox
I remember reading somewhere that the tracphone G2x is NOT the same thing as the T-Mobile one, and isn't compatible (I think jboxer said something about it).
What is the model number under the back cover? That's probably the accurate model
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
in the back cover i have this:
<GPLGL95GB>
FCC ID BEJP999DW
TRACFONE WIRELESS, INC
IMEI : XXXXXXXXX
S/N: XXXXXXXXXX
LGL95G
MADE IN KOREA
I want to upgrade my baseband because in any ASOP rom, "message sent" always shows me even when I have balance in my carrier or sent to random inexisting number, to give an example if I send an SMS to "123456789" I get "message sent" , being that it is impossible to send a sms to that number, if I can not upgrade my baseband, i would like to know if there is any way to fix this please
I think it may be a mistake to see if the message was sent, and that's why I always shows "message sent"
You might find info in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305077
The phone you have is an unreleased prototype that was supposed to end up on tracfone's network but later cancelled. It's basically the same thing as the g2x but has minor differences that could cause you trouble.
thx i will read the thread, look interesting lol
I remember something I read about the Tracphone P999 being unable to be unlocked and other restrictions it has because it was going to be marketed real cheap but only able to work with that service provider.
I dont now about that , jboxer say on his thread that, but i have a unlocked tracfone p999 unlocked by box service e_e

How did they unlock your phone? Was it with a hardware box such as an Octopus Box?
The cell radio modem is the same as in the G2X/P999, a Qualcomm, not the same as in the O2X/P990.

The LG tool checks the phone's IMEI and ROM version before it will authorize updating. If the IMEI isn't in the database for a particular update, LG's update server won't authorize updating. Did you try the offline update method?

When the package is downloaded from the internet Windows 7 blocks applications from running. Did you unblock the dll and .exe files (Properties -> General) and set each .exe to run as administrator first (Properties -> Compatibility)? Did you turn Windows Enabler On before running anything else? Next, run the http server then the update.

I've used Virtual Windows XP successfully. The problem with it is that the USB port disconnects and has to be manually reconnected to continue updating. The problem with Windows 7 is that there's an inherent flaw in the LG updater which caused problems which I think have been fixed with the last updater. Try what I've told you in Windows 7, I've successfully done it but, if that doesn't work, try Windows XP mode.
I will try in a real xp machine e_e

Help installing a ROM?

First of all, I am a noob when it comes to Android in general. So please forgive me if I posted in the wrong section of the forum or I didn't give enough information. now we got that out of the way...
Hello, I recently picked up the Pantech Burst from AT&T. It's a nice phone that's running Android Version 2.3.5. I rooted it within two weeks of getting it.
Because I rooted it, I want to now install a custom ROM. I've tried to follow some tutorials, but none of them seemed to help me. Each one I looked at told me to download ROM Manager and use the Clockworkflash Mod. When I tried to use it, it asked me to confirm my device on the list. However, my device wasn't on the list. I couldn't seem to find anything here, either. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487576
Is there anyway to do this without using this specific tool? Are there any alternatives?
A few more questions..
How do I know which ROM I can use on my phone?
Does it only matter which Android Version i'm using, and not the specific device?
Can somebody please introduce me to some good ROMs?
Just in case any of this information helps....

it is probably is giving you that message because you need to add product_specs for the pyramid. If you can give me a link to what setup guide you are using i might be able to help you but I have may not have enough free storage to help fully.

And in what step you are now? Do you compile kernel?

You will have to decompile a kernel to get the init.rc file. I use dixda's Android Kitchen to do this.
I rebuilt the kernel from cm9 kernel's init.rc, but I still get the error.

I got all the tools and stuff installed and went through all the other stuff in the Porting guide you posted a link to. But when I run the command, ANDROIDFS_DIR=my_device_backup ./config.sh <device_id> default.xml" I got the following error.
Code:
Get tmp_manifest_repo
error: revision master in manifests not found
Repo sync failed
It is 7:07 in the morning and I have not been to sleep yet so I am going to go to bed and try to figure out what the issue is with the manifest this evening.
Ok the problem is I do not have a tmp_manifest_repo folder in G2B so now I got to figure out Wu I do not have one. Do you have this folder in your build folder?
Also if you need me to I can give you detailed instructions on what I did about the init.rc file.

Usually, that folder is automatically generated, and default.xml is placed in there.

Yeah that is what I said when I understood hat the error was. The first thing is suppose to do is generate tmp_manifest_repo Folder and its contents. Maybe it was just a fluke and it will correct itself when I try again in a little bit. I only tried it once this morning and I was to tired to try again after setting up long enough to find the cause of the issue.
