Post your native resolution [1920*1920] wallpapers here - Asus Transformer TF700

Weird format, but there you have it. The default launcher forces you to crop the wallpaper for both landscape and portrait, so it has to be 1920*1920 to remain native, and the corners get cropped out.
Post yours!

I'm using one from the gallery that comes with the Infinity - the one with a stone in water, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28872415&postcount=3

Are you sure? Native for 1280x800 is 1408xsomething. Is the 700 a different wallpaper system?

I was thinking the exact same thing. According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766025 the wallpapers that come with the device are all over the place resolution wise, but they're much higher than 1920x1920. There is an ideal resolution, but at this time I dont think anyone knows what it is.
Perhaps if someone could get the wallpapers included on the Acer A700, if they're consistent they'd give us an exact resolution to look for.
Edit: Looked through an A700 firmware image, most of theirs are the 1920x1408 resolution used on 160DPI tablets. There's one 2048x1920 resolution one, but that cant be correct since the aspect ratio is wrong.

The TF700 has a screen resolution of 1920*1200. The wallpaper has to be cropped in a cross-pattern so it fits in both portrait and landscape. The minimal resolution that allows this without stretching the image is 1920*1920, which is also the resolution at which the image is displayed pixel-for-pixel.

That would be the case if this were an iOS, webOS or WinRT tablet. However, Android tablets have scrolling wallpapers. As such, it'll still be stretched.

According to my (possible inaccurate) calculations, if the 700 uses the same wallpaper system as the prime and 800p tablets, the default res should be 2880x2112. This was calculated using the 1920x1408 resolution of 800p tablets. Not sure if correct though.

I came to the same conclusion, but didnt post it because my Infinity hasnt arrived yet and thus I cant actually check that fits. Not to mention its difficult to find good wallpapers in that resolution right now.

I suppose you could use macbook retina wallpapers. Apple's marketing is excellent so lots of people should have them which generates lots of wallpapers.

That thought crossed my mind too, but I believe they're only 2880x1800 so it'd be a bit stretched. At this point, it might be best to just find a larger resolution image and crop it to 2880x2112.

OK, last night I said I would go on /hr/ to get some massive wallpapers. Anyways, here they are after someone so RUDELY deleted/censored my post.

They are all above 2880x2112. You guys should check out /hr/ sometime, they have some really massive images there. Also, yes, there is some weeaboo stuff in there, but most of it is just landscapes, other art or photos.

Thanks for the pack!

If the wallpapers indeed dont scroll, then the OP is correct and you need 1920x1920 to cover when the device is in portrait.

I just received mine and am in the process of ricing it. The stock launcher does not scroll but I installed apex, for ricing purposes, and that does scroll the wallpapers. However, the gallery cropper does this weird overshooting thing, so I still don't know what the resolution should be.

Does anybody know the correct resolution for the tf700? Or an app that crops higher resolutions good?

Yes, as noted in the stickied FAQ, there is no digital zoom in the camera app like on other Android devices. As far as I know, and I'm sure someone will be quick to correct me, there hasn't been a real zoom on any phone.
Personally, this didn't bother me because the digital zoom always looked like crap lol.

Nearly all cell phone cameras lack "zoom".
What you see in cameras labeled "zoom" is actually cropping, so you end up with a lower quality crop.
Explain that and she'll be okay.
Please stop the arguing in this thread, or it will be closed and infractions/warning PMs will be sent. Thank you.
Edit: Thread cleaned from all the nonsense. Please, keep this on track.
Explain that all she's ever had on any phone is digital zoom which is not supported in the stock Android camera app. There are alternative camera apps in the Market if it's really important to her.

Like I've already explained: "maybe it's not so useful for pictures (because it's a digital zoom) but it could be useful for videos in order to move attention on a detail".
Lack of 720p is another issue, however, 720p recording (just like digital zooming) is usually interpolated on smartphones, so it's not a big one. Moreover, you know it doesn't record at 720p from specs.

Upsample. Usually on smartphones the sensor is not 720p capable but it has a lower resolution, so you get 720p recording by upsampling frames. However this is off-topic

werd theres not really a big use for zooming in anyway just take a pic and pinch to zoom it looks fine tbh. Not a good reason to return a good phone lmfao tell her to send it back get a free phone to make fone calls and text and buy a digital camera so she can take some ugly facebook pics

Nope, video is downsampled from the sensor resolution.
720p frames = 1280×720
5MP sensor size = 2560×2048
The image captured by the sensor is downsized to the 720p size.
The reason cellphones aren't capable of 720p is because the hardware can't keep up with downsizing each frame that the camera is capturing.
Digital zoom in video means downsizing from the sensor resolution to the video resolution. Then upsampling the image information again to make it fit to the recording resolution. You're not gaining anything from digital other than introducing alot of noise.
Tell your girl to get an iphone.

Nope. There isn't any "downsizing", they are captured at lower resolution than the max resolution available (because of the bus width), usually the resolution is lower than 720p, then they are processed and upscaled to 720p.

Videos To "Show Off" The QHD Screen

I didn't see a thread about anything like this, so i thought i'd make one.
Basically it's for videos that you can use to "show off" the qHD display in your Sensation.
I'll start off with a few suggestions, and i'd love to see what everyone else thinks.
To get the best quality for Vimeo videos i'd suggest you download each one and then put them on your phone (Each Video has a download link that is accessible when using the Desktop version of the site)

Only in the sense that HD video fits the screen perfectly, rather than having black bars as on non-qHD screens, so you get the full resolution of the screen.
Just as a side note, I also have a Vibrant with the SAMOLED screen. I haven't been using it for a couple of weeks since I got the Sensation. Turned it on the other day and was shocked at how bad the colors looked. Oversaturated and the color balance looked way off. I always thought it was a great screen, but the Sensation looks much more natural to me now.
i hope you guys don't think the sensation is full hd
HD only specifies the resolution, and not the display type. qHD = quarter of full HD.
Full HD is 1920x1080 so a quarter of that is 960x540.
I hope you don't think..........

No, we don't all think that. The form factor (16:9) is the same as HD, thus HD video fills the screen perfectly, without bars. HD plays at the full resolution of the phone's screen, whereas on a SGS2, for example, you only get a portion of its lesser 800x480, or the video must be cropped to eliminate the bars.

app doesn't support the resolution?

Does anyone encounters an issue where the app doesn't support the increased resolution provided by the tablet? I was just reading a cNet review and an example given was the marvel comics app. I'm not really interested in using the tablet for productivity. It's more of media consumption device and playing simple games like plants vs zombies.
And I won't buy tegra games as that locks me in. Thanks
Most of the apps that aren't supported, will work if they are sideloaded. They will not be high resolution though, and may not scale properly.

since 1920x1200 is not common (I've only seen 3 tablets using it), does that mean most apps won't display it properly? just somehow doubt devs will be updating their apps for something that is not common.
Yes, some apps will not display like should, but most of them will work. Some devs are working on updating their apps, but the majority still use low resolution displays.
Since most devs only make their apps for phones any HD tablet will have issues with the resolution. Most of them are also too stupid/lazy/arrogant to use proper scaling..
I especially 'love' the idiots who make an app for the iPad, and then convert it for android, and the android app doesn't support higher resolutions than a crappy 720....

Wallpapers are easy to "develop" lol...
Sometimes when cruising the store the good app builders offer trial HD versions of the free versions.
Not most...a few do.
Back in June this year there was hardly anything HD wise.

Was very interested in getting an infinity but this lack of apps that will use the resolution and the lack of apps with UI optimized for tablets is what's holding me back. try again next year I guess

[Q] Nvidia Driver issue?

Got this response from EA regarding NFS not being available for the my device:
We apologize that we have not been able to support your device for launch. Unfortunately there are some problems with the GPU drivers on the ASUS Transformer range that ASUS and nVidia are aware of and working to release a firmware update to fix. Once these issues have been corrected and verified by our team, your device should be able to download the game.
Anyone have any idea what they're talking about?
That's what they said the last 2 updates, too. Standard rubbish database response.
The "issue" is that the screen resolution of the tablet is higher than that of the textures. And EA is too lazy to fix it. Nvidia is not at fault.

No, that the textures would get stretched, the antialiasing would fail bitterly and that you'd end up with glorious high-resolution "jaggies". And EA doesn't want to make money over the backs of its customers, now, does it?
