Alright, so whenever I plug my headphones into my phone, I have to really jiggle the cord about to get sound, and now it's at the point where I straight up don't hear anything. Is there an easy way to fix the port or replace it? I hear Jelly Bean has USB headphone support, should I wait for a Jelly Bean release and get a microusb to headphone converter?

we wont get jellybean support, and additional driver handles will take longer. Have u tried other headphones? Also contact htc for repair service.

That's not what I'm seeing here, brah.
Care to try again? I'm sure there is some kind of replacement part out there for the headphone port.

Do you care to try that again "brah"? What he meant was that we won't get the official Jelly bean support. Just like we haven't got the official ICS support.

Try going into the jack with a paperclip. For me it's usually just a bunch of lint stuck in it.

Forgive me if this wasn't already covered, but are you sure these aren't the headphones at fault? I burn through mine pretty quickly (hard user+cheap headphones=problem).
You can try some of the jellybean ROMs, they're all mostly new to the DHD and I4G, so USB headphones might not be fully working. Give it some time.
HTC should repair your phone if it's under a year old. You'll have to use one of HTC's update packages, losing root and system information, but HTC won't tell the difference.

Anyone bought one before for use w/ the Eris? Looking to use this for audio to home stereo or car aux input but also not have to unplug it to use the phone. This way I can use it as hands free in the car. I've found this one for $10.99
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=41130&cat=3811
and this one for $9.99
http://www.thinksamsungcaptivate.com/samsung-captivate-wired-headsets-10329.html
but it says it's for the Samsung Captivate.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Cool find. Exactly what I have been looking for. I haven't used it or known anyone that has, but I'm probably going to buy it just to try it out. I'll report back with findings unless someone beats me to it.
I personally use a standard line (no mic) keep the phone on my lap and am able to have conversations as if I am wearing a blue tooth headset. Although if this is for your car stereo you do have to take into consideration of the stereo volume cause the conversation can echo back to the person that you are talking to

For some reason that doesn't work for me. I tried it but have to unplug the cord to talk. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me (no music on either) That's why I started looking for this. I wonder if it's a setting on the phone somewhere...

Assuming that you didnt hit the mute button on the phone, there may be other factors that are giving people on the other end problems hearing you.
a) is your phone rooted? if so, what rom are you using?
Check with the dev who created the rom. Could be possible that you have a older rom version. One of the last updates that VZW pushed out to the eris was for the "sound bug" If you are using a older rom, it could be a possibility that the update was not "cooked" in cause of the date of the ROM. You will see more DEVs stating in their ROM descriptions that is has the recent updates. Using one of thoser ROM may fix that.
b) if your phone is not rooted then is all the updates installed? You can check by doing the following
menu - settings - about phone - system updates
c) depending on where your phone is placed, (ie my lap), seat belts, clothes or some thign else is blocking the phones microphone.
d )slim chance but any chance that the people who can not hear you are only eris users them selves? If yes then see a) and b)
I just use the phone itself as the microphone and the audio routes over the stereo. But of course we don't have laws against talking on the phone here.
Wow, nobody posts in this particular forum. Well, I was just thinking about this type of product today, and seeing it on the forum, I had to buy it.

I know this is an old post, but...
When I try that the other person can't hear me. Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

TazzFroyo. Haven't tried it since the last update though, so I will have to try it again...
So not sure what's up, using that icecream fake rom and OC kernel, and I hear audio hissing most noticible through headphones when there is a noise, there is a hissing going on. It stops after audio stops though, not sure what's up.
I don't know if my rom and kernel are related to this, may have been here before? Anyone else notice this?
Try putting different rom and see the issue is still there cauz I been running ice cream rom with faux123's kernel and never had single problem like this.

Just tried this and still the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426590
Guess my phone is broken?
Also tried returning the ICS one to stock same problem. Also tried it on my hd595 headphones, same problem.
I should mention it does it on the speakers as well, but it's much less noticible.
Do factory reset and if its still bad than you have bad hardware.

By factory reset do you mean like unroot and all?
Well try out stock rom first and if you still have problem than i am pretty sure its ur phone but going stock won't hurt because you would be returning them any way.

It's not your ROM its he audio chip in the phone. There is a thread in skyrocket general where we have been discussing it.
Only workaround is bluetooth or higher quality headphones kinda mask it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428792
So what exactly did you guys do for workaround?

Wait so all phones do this? But I mean it's so loud... well there is a tiny scratch on it too, might as well replace it anyway.
I can't use bluetooth headphones though because I have an icontrolpad and I don't think it can connect to multiple audio devices. Oh well, I don't use it for heavy music stuff, but I mean it's just really loud that hissing.

Nothing, you either ignore it or go bluetooth

Yup, just some of us notice it and others don't. I forget about it unless I try to hear for it. If it's extremely loud I'd get a replacement
So replaced it, same problem. Oh well, but I mean I guess you can ignore it, but hissing bugs me, not enough to not love this phone though.
Even have LTE in Pleasanton.
Thx fags for help anyway
Everytime I am on the phone & can't figure out why it's doing it... Anyone else ever had same or similar issue's ??
Speaker or earpiece or both? If one, does it still do it when you switch to the other?

Earpiece,Bluetooth & Speaker phone... It worked fine then I flashed a JB rom and it went kaput
Hmmm I was gonna say blown speaker but...now I'm not sure. How long has this been going on? Could it be network related (I know kind of a coincidence) if it were me I would try a clean install or new ROM. Maybe downgrade to last OS temporarily to rule out a hardware or network issue. Hope somebody has more info for you.

just saw these http://www.slashgear.com/sony-ericsson-mh907-sensme-headphones-review-1360196/
anybody knows a way to make them work with xperia z?
they have the old sony connector, anyway to convert it to 3.5 mm ?
Which means you’ll need a Sony Ericsson device with the company’s proprietary Fast Port connector.

We don't have such a connector, do we? Therefore you can not even connect these to your device in the first place.
EDIT: Misread your post lol. Anyway, the FastPort connector is old tech. I don't think you can find any adapters (if they even exist)... eBay perhaps?

Guys, loving the N5 but HATE the speaker, i have run custom roms, tweaks but frankly - my opinion, dire !
Has anyone though about a replacement, better alternative ?
As gonna dive in and possibly take a look ?
Thanks
When have you EVER heard of replacing a proprietary speaker in a cell phone with an "alternative" or "upgraded" speaker? Let alone there even being one available?

This post is no different than the other 50 post complaining about the speaker in various ways. There are zip files to flash, kernels with sound management, and so on. I don't think anyone has attempted to replace the speaker, although they have stuck a hot needle into the holes to make them bigger Some guy has attempted to put the g2 battery into his nexus. You can be that guy attempting to put a new speaker in his nexus 5.
Good luck

Your obviously NOT an engineer and i would also guess, have not alot of foresight either, it's called lateral thinking, out of the box.
Kind regards
(I was just asking!)
Dam bruh might as well add a subwoofer and a amp and stereo speakers man.
Anyways try viper4android

Yes, obviously I'm not an engineer; I'm just going by the years of experience with phones and NEVER seeing a "upgraded replacement" speaker available for a phone...ever. :good:
Couldn't you just plug in whatever external speaker system you desire? Coupled with V4A you'd have a nice music setup.
Just don't use the top 3 volume levels when using a 3.5mm accessory as it has serious cross talk issues.
