[IDEAS] Features for CM10 - Android General

I couldn't find topics about this so I decided to create one. I'll try to keep it up to date.
So, CM10 is in the works for many devices. What features from OEMS would you like to see in CM10 now or in the future? Mine would definitely have to be the motion settings on the GS3!
I haven't used many other devices besides this HTC incredible 2 and an old OG Droid. Neither of which I feel have anything to contribute.
One other thing would be the voice commands on the GS3.
Excited to see what everyone comes up with.

Having bad temptation.

I was offered a brand new galaxy note, and I am very tempted, I don't want to be, and but my geek self and love for big phones can't help it.
Basically just wanting to come firm once we get source will think some cm9, and aokp, and miui, be running 100%.
I am loving this phone, buy I have a ln issue with keeping phones, lol.
Any info/opinions would be great.

Flash CM9 its very stable now, I'm running it.

Really depends on what you want. I currently own both devices and dev for the note. The one x is a better phone in my opinion in all aspects. If the one x had the same screen as the note I'd sell my note in a heartbeat. No source is needed for good cm9 or aokp. Note doesn't even have official ics and we have cm9 aokp miui and paranoidandroid

Thanks for this, I think that's all I needed. Do we have paranoidandroid? Or it that coming soon?
If anyone else has an opinion please feel free to share.
I can't use cm9 until the camcorder works, we are expecting a baby any day now.

That would be sweet I have heard it rocks.
Another reason I haven't went to cm9 is I don't like the button mapping, and haven't been able to map it back myself, not that I have tried very hard.

I traded my galaxy note for the one x and I do miss the screen size of the note but love the one x so much more it's the little features that make me love it like being able to forward my text and email to my work phone right out the box and the camera on the one x is to me the best camera on any phone and to me the one x just seems to run smoother and I have not even rooted mine I have had it for about 2 weeks and love just running stock that's just my 2 cents

Once we get Kernel Source It will be all over. I see great things ahead for this device. No way would swap it for a Note.
you posted in a htc one x forum, of course we will say no... lol
I just got the One X last week and I'm loving it. I switched from Sprint to AT&T, so my choices were between the Note and One. They're both awesome and I was very tempted by the large screen, but in terms of performance the One X wins hands down. And my inner geek forced me to go for performance.
(Of course, I run xmonad on my laptop for the performance over beauty rationale too. lol)
BTW, I just flashed CM9 alpha5 and it's pretty sweet so far.
I switched from a note to a hox (on day 30!) And I don't regret it at all. The screen size was nice and the pen was fun but I'm really liking the one x. I came from an iPhone and had no clue what Android was about. The guy who was helping me when I initially got the note recommended the one x but all I could think about was the big screen of the note. I'm glad I had those 30 days for the exchange!
I have both devices and don't get me wrong, the big screen is kinda cool but it doesn't touch the One X. If I had to choose it would be the One X all the way.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
If AT&T's note had the Exynos and not the S3 it would have been a tougher decision for me. Thankfully the S3 is pretty weak so I never even considered getting it. I haven't been happier about a phone purchase before. I love my HOX more than I loved my E4GT (one of the best phones ever), and even more than I loved my OG EVO 4G, and that says an awful lot.
I have made up mind, staying with the HOX. Cm9 is coming along nice, and I have done lots of reading the hox will keep me happier.
Thanks everyone.

Smart man Now stop posting in this thread so it dies and we can all forget that you were considering leaving your HOX for an inferior device

We have been forgotten.

Is it me or does the Thunderbolt feel completely abandoned by developers?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
Yep no jellybean for us yet. JB makes ics seem as slow as am ibm pcjr. We should demand HTC give us JB instead of ics
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Developers need an ICS leak to make anything new, how many GB ROMs do you want? As far as the CM9 RIL has proved to be a huge problem. So no, developers still have Thunderbolts they just need something new to work with, instead of pointing fingers at them, point them at HTC.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
While it's not the fault of the dev's, we have been forgotten. The thunderbolt is unfortunately old news and most likely won't have much more activity until we get ICS/JB.
Its more like HTC doesn't give a crap about our phones anymore. It's unacceptable that they haven't put out an update sooner.
I'm still here!
Most phones were forgotten (or stagnated) on Verizon when the Nexus came out. Anyone who didn't see that coming was just a tad short-sided.

Dont blame only HTC. Verizon is also to blame... and VZW is historically known for not providing too many updates.
I dont expect any additional development until ICS is "officially" released for the TBolt.
I dont believe we'll ever see an official release of JB for our phones.

Bionic already has 4 ICS leaks...and blame HTC. Anyway, the Incredible S (GSM Dinc 2) got ICS today. Here's the thing - the Thunderbolt was replaced by the Rezound a long time ago, and it's honestly not that great of a phone anyway. It was the first LTE phone, but the specs were far behind other phones that came out before it. It will be nice when it finally does get ICS (and it will, but remember the 2.3.4 update took a very long time as well), but most people (like me) who bought this phone will have already moved on, or be well on their way to a better phone by the time it finally is released. As far as being forgotten by developers - not forgotten, but they have moved on to better phones. The Thunderbolt is old hat - 1Ghz Snapdragon w/ 768MB RAM, the developers have moved on to better things, for the most part.

That and point really at Google for.this messed up veal they allow which is so stupid. We need to stop overlays on android and have the same user experence as any other device a unified way. On touch six.you select wick widget it brings up any available wick if one is not already selected on sense and stock that does not happen. Not a great user way here.

Pretty sure specs weren't far behind anything when the tbolt came out. If you're this concerned sell it and buy a bionic. Go to craigslist, they are cheap.

[REQUEST] WebOS port for One X

Well as most of you might of heard, webos has finally been released in beta to the public. I was just wandering if anyone would take on the challenge of bringing such amazing OS to a phone that i think its perfect in form factor and everything for it. And i think the sooner development starts on the One X with webos well the more accostumed developers will get and maybe with future releases from hp the One X could be one of the devices to get early builds from them. Its just a request after all though, i think it would make a lot of us hapoy to see it
Its one of my long terms goals, over the course of the next year or so, now that things with JB have smoothed over. Though it might not even happen... may be impossible. The OS is entirely different than Android. The only thing they share is the Linux kernel (which still needs heavy modification).
No ETAs. Ever.
If you want to contribute and you can contribute to the project, let me know via PM or email.
but i saw that web os is ported to htc evo 3d already.how is evo 3d different from our phone?
Because this forum doesn't have the same developers as the EVO, save reason why the One S hasn't got it either.

It kind of is but the fact is that our device isn't as popular as others in attracting developers. While the ones we do have are great, it simply can't match the number of developers for other devices which makes large projects like this more achievable.

Ehh that's sorta true but it only takes one dev, I've been around both big and small communities on xda and its usually just one big dev who comes through with the break through that paves the way for the less experienced devs
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
Really not a smack in the face at all to our current devs. Our current devs may just not be interested in webOS. They're busy making better stuff for what we have now. and doing a mighty good job thus far. You can't fault them for not having the interest in webos (i personally would consider running it just to say i could, but i'd be back on CR probably within a couple hours.
As a touchpad owner i guarantee you will hate webos because of the lack of apps.
It's funny to see people request android on touchpad and people request webos on android

Have to agree there. WebOS had (has?) so much potential.... In some ways it's still superior to Android. But without apps, its pretty useless. With no OEM backing it anymore... Where's the incentive to develop?
It has crazy potential though. Back it the early Android porting days of the Touchpad, someone created an android environment that ran entirely as a WebOS page for running apps. If an OEM could pull that off, they'd have the best of both worlds.
With all these new phones coming out it's hard to pick which one will have the best/most developer support. Back about 1-2 years ago there were many phones but only a few "great" high end ones so most of the developers were on those all at the same time. Now there are many high end phones on all networks and internationally so the developers are spread out. It wasn't a problem before, but now I won't buy a phone at launch, no matter how great, before I see what the development will be like. I made that mistake with the Galaxy Note for AT&T. The development there wasn't even close to the international version.
The One X is an incredible phone. Imagine what it would be like with the amount of development that the Nexus or even the Evo 3d has? It's kinda sad that this phone doesn't have that much popularity with more developers. It's a better phone all around than the Nexus or Evo 3d.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Actually I can't say that I won't buy a phone again without looking at the development because I do plan on getting the Note 2 at launch. The tough part is gonna be figuring out which version to get. It's probably gonna be like the sgs3. Some of the versions have more development than the others.

True story. I wonder if we'll start to see Webdroid or AndrOS hybrid-ports in the next couple of years.

The troll is heading back to his bridge!!

So I've received the HTC One S a few days ago (not the One X + because tmobile doesn't like nice phones) and I'm falling in love with it! So I guess this means goodbye, at least for a while. I'm sure this is good news for most lol. If it's any conciliation, the HTC one S development thread is horrible!! It has no personality what so ever and no one objects when others ask for ETAs which is something I've grown to genuinely love about this community Hopefully Bhundven and his team successfully port jelly bean (and have TV out working) but I'm sure a few weeks after, there'll be a mass migration back to ics in favor of a more "stable rom." lol Anywho good luck guys, the Samsung Galaxy S 4g will always be in my heart!

I've also been eyeing that phone... I think the One X is too big, and the One S is much closer to the size of the GS4G, which I like very much. I've also checked out the One S forums, but am still on the fence, especially since my phone works so well with these custom roms, I really don't have a great reason to upgrade, other than trying something new..
please report back how you like it (or send a PM if you don't want to clutter up the board here).

Yeah honestly I can't stress to you how awesome this phone is! The display is super bright, the resolution is also pretty good so don't worry about qhd complaints specially since you're coming from the S 4g display. The camera is professional quality and it preforms well day to day. If you don't like sense you can always install apex or a stock aokp ics rom but I happen to like sense personally specially the widgets and customizations. The rooting method, like for most htc phones, is significantly harder. There is another thing called S-off which has hindered development for the phone. There are still plenty of roms to play around with (including jelly bean!) but the installation is pretty tricky so for instance, you'll need to use a command prompt to flash something called a boot image to install any time and it's easy to brick. There are other new terms you'll need to learn of course. Don't let this scare you. One of the best things is the battery life (Both onscreen and stand by). The sheer performance is out of this world for example it can be over clocked to 2.1 mhz! Trust me when I say you won't regret having this phone! I've even heard from some it's better than the one X

[Q] What phone currently has the most development?

I'm sort of new to Android and I currently have a lg vs910. I love the phone my only problem with it is there are only a couple of custom roms running on it. Don't get me wrong I love the broken out 2.0.1 and mtmichaelson did a great job. But I'm almost due for an upgrade and I want a good phone that has a few more options for custom roms. I know this question is sort of opinion based but that's what I want please let me know you're opinions.

I had previously had a Motorola Droid X and HTC Thunderbolt and neither of them could come close to the number of choices and fast updates that I have been able to get with my Galaxy S3. Its amazing when you consider the Verizon model shipped with a locked boot loader. I had Jelly Bean on my S3 before the VZW Nexus got the update officially. Plus the hardware is great!

I would say the HTC Evo 4g because it has been around since 2010, and there are still roms being developed for it.
sorry but the galaxy nexus no one considers, in addition to being a great device brings several customizations ... (this is my thought)
I have a samsung galaxy s more than 2 years now. Great device while many, many custom roms available. And they are stable too!
My next device will be a Samsung again. I am in doubt wether it will be S3 or Note.
The galaxy nexus GSM hands down. The Nexus 4 is also going to follow up with the same level of development when it is released
