Windows 7 RUU - how to get it working

Simple really.
When it fails search for instructions on how to get it working with Vista - I never had a problem with Vista myself but upgrading to Windows 7 it just failed so I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001
and followed the instructions there.
I was trying it out omn my Universal as I don't use it now so it didn't matter - but now I have a shiny new ROM on it I might just start using it again
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
RUU's were crashing for me just at the PDA detection stage.
I tried custom compatibility settings for the RUU:
Run this program as administrator
Disable Visual Themes
Disable Desktop Compisition
Run in Windows XP SP2 Compatibility Mode
These should work with Win 7 x64 however you may need to apply these settings to the other executable files in the RUU folder (EnterBootLoader and RUUGetInfo).
Thanks. It seems as that worked. I also had to switch usb ports.

To be honest you would be better running ubuntu in a virtual window and installing the android kitchen from there. (I did this and ended up taking windows off my pc and never using it again, now i run ubuntu as my main os)
Well before we start, I suppose you better see if its the kitchen not recognizing java or that cygwin is not recognizing java so lets start with the following command in the window.
java -version
if java has been installed properly it should tell you the version.
EDIT: If not then try this.

If your running a 64 bit version of java try downloading the 32 bit or vice versa.
Or agreed it is less of a headache to just run in the linux version of your choosing

[Guide] Use Kingo Root on a Mac (and possibly Linux)

I've written up a detailed guide on my blog describing how I rooted my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on my MacBook, but here is a summary:
1. Install VirtualBox
2. Install VirtualBox Extension Pack (on VirtualBox download page)
3. Install a Windows XP virtual machine
4. Enable USB 2.0 in VirtualBox for the Windows VM
5. Install Kingo inside Windows
6. Root
I'd love feedback as to whether this works on Linux as well.

Guide to creating a Windows XP .img file on Windows 7 / 10 to emulate on Android 6.0

I created a guide on how to create a Windows XP (or indeed any operating system Linux or Windows) image .img file ready to copy to an Android phone to be emulated. Part 2 of how to run the created file on Android is coming soon so subscribe to see that one. This has been tested on Windows 10 and Android 6.0 and is just an updated guide with the latest tools.
