because of Verizon locked down bootloader there is a custom icon of you aren't running (or at one point) using 100% stock

Ok this problem actually started when I first rooted my tab and installed a custom ROM and every rom after. My lock screen just stopped working. Stayed with the custom ROMs for a little while then decided a wanted my lock screen back. So i decided to go stock again. Went through the proper procedures to go back to stock. (wiping device and Odin the stock HC ROM) all that.. No luck still. Upgraded to ICS and STILL no lock screen. If anyone knows what the problem may be, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Click on where it says "face unlock" and switch it to "pattern lock"
Or is that the problem itself? Does "pattern lock" not show up at all as an option?

Everything shows up.. I have no problem setting up the pattern, number and face unlock. Its just that when I do it doesn't activate my lock screen at all.

I plan to root and unlock it when I get it. I know the unlocker is only compatible with some firmware versions (or am I wrong, and it doesn't matter?)
What should I know to look for before I unlock it/
to my knowledge you should be able to unlock on all current firmware - just be sure not to accept any new OTAs. you can get EZ unlock from the play store to do it really easily once you're rooted
I'm getting mine tomorrow finally too
I think I may play stock a few days just to get use to it (who am I kidding) the last 4 hours I've been reading up on rooting, unlocking, root tools, google wallet, odin, CM10, other available roms and about everything and anything i can find and read all while eating jelly beans , bet i don't last 2 hours before its rooted and on CM10 or some rom
Hahaha I got the gs III 2days ago in the mail . I didn't even turn her on plugged her in for full charge . When the led turned green I turned her on and bam had her plugged to computer . In 30 minutes had her rooted , unlocked , backed up IMEI and flashed ...

I read around and is it true the Verizon has support for GSM? Also is this phone able to be carrier unlocked to work on sprint?

Wondering what is the current way to unlock my Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE from Rogers. Is there a free way to do so or do I need to go through the unlocking code websites (if so which one is the cheapest)?

Thanks was this way tested on Canadian phones as well? Also do I really need to bring the phone back to stock ROM? Will that unlocking method make my phone permanently unlocked or will it disapear once I flash to another ROM? And finally what modem should I flash it to, I saw several in that thread, not sure if that has to do with the service provider or phone type?
You should read more. You have to bring to stock, make a nandroid of where you are now. It will permanently unlock you.

What i have to do if i want to lock my phone's recovery and download mode?????
One of my friends found a Galaxy S, and when he tries to det in recovery and download he could not!!!! He tried everything but nothing!!!!!!
Is the phone hard-bricked?
If not, is he doing the procedure correctly?
Is this simply found or "found"?

Its not bricked.. He turned it onand it asked him for lock code.
He did not steal it because he found the owner and gave it back!!!
But I can't find out why he could not achieve R and D mode...

Maybe the owner reported it lost / stolen and the carrier locked it down, because recovery and download would allow a wipe and re-use by the finder.
Maybe he just wasn't doing it correctly. Those things can be pretty picky and easy to mess up. Not sure if you can really "lock down" a hardware function like that, but maybe.

Well im also not sure what a carrier's capabilities are as far as locking down a lost / stolen phone, but surely they have some method..And dont forget that the carrier's reps scan the imei at the store, or by putting in a sim, it detects the imei, so they have it. Perhaps they can send some kind of temp kill via sim?..

on the comments in androidpolice, someone said this update wiped their phone. anyone tried it yet?
Just installed the update. Only took a couple of minutes and didn't wipe any data for me, but we'll have to see about battery life. I had resorted to disabling all of the location based services it had gotten so bad.

The article outright says you cannot be rooted

Is it only for T-Mobile HTC One S? I don't get any update when I check for it.
Also my software number is at 3.16.666.9

Definitely seems to have fixed the battery drain issues. I was able to turn everything back on and the battery is draining at about the same levels it was on ICS.
I would assume this is a T-Mobile USA update. My post-update version number is 3.14.531.17 710RD.
Does anyone have a download link for the OTA? The "Manually Update from HTC" links all go to the 3.14.531.11 RUU.
How do we update the phone if it is rooted? Mine is rooted and it keeps booting to the recovery and nothing after that. Is it possible to unroot so I can install the update and root it again afterwards? I don't want to flash it to stock and then root it all over again.
I updated yesterday. Glad to see this update. I ended up taking my phone apart and replaced the battery thinking it had gone bad. Jury is still out on whether this update makes a difference.
