Stock ICS random reboots to dead android robot with red triangle? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All my searching (xda, google, phandroid) attempts only came up with people having problems flashing roms. THIS IS NOT THAT.
I have a Nexus S 4G (d720) running stock 4.0.4 (never rooted or flashed a rom on this phone). As of about 3 hours ago, my phone has reset itself four times. 3/4 rebooting to android robot with red triangle. The last one reboot to the google logo and then was stuck for 10 minutes. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without fail, it's done it every night for four nights. Can anyone help?

Now, it restarts to a screen of the android robot and a rotating light blue wireframe complex shape of some sort...then it changes to the dead robot with the red exclamation mark. I don't even know what to google anymore....any help??

If it has never been unlocked, rooted and completely stock...I would just take it in for service. If you want to root and flash then we can help

I'll take it in tomorrow, if they can't help...would it change anything to root and flash a rom? or could it be something hardware related?

Found a post with a similar problem here. It looks like going to the sprint store won't help much...

Take it in first. If not I say root and see if that solves it.

I took it in, they did a "Factory Factory Reset" where they have to input a "special code" and it spazzed out within 5 minutes of me turning it on. So completely stock, no apps, no nothing. fresh out of the box and synced to my gmail, it did the same thing. The only new thing I've put on my phone in the last month has been a Zagg screen protector...and I'm fairly certain that has nothing to do with it. So they ordered me a new one, hopefully it lasts longer than this one. Thanks for your help.

Glad it worked out.

I need help rebooting my bootlooped phone.

The phone I have is bootlooped Android Motorola Milestone (1) .
After I rooted it with " z4root ", I downloaded this app about Wifi Tethering, I tried it out, but then it said something like, "Are you sure your phone is rooted?"
And it also told me to try to reboot the phone, so I did, after like the 3rd time rebooting because it said the same thing, I attempted to turn it on after turning it off. It turned on but it stays stuck on the Motorola logo every time now.
I looked up on the web how to fix a bootlooped phone but none of them actually worked.
Sooooo, i'm hoping somebody can enlighten me about how to fix it because i can't afford another phone lol.
What about restoring your phone from the recovery? Have you done a backup recently? Usually I have this problem when I flash a kernel in contrast with my OS.. maybe the solution is simply: flash another OS if you don't have a backup

If its stuck on the Motorola screen then it sounds soft bricked which Odin should fix. But if its showing the ROM boot screen its probably just a bad flash which you could fix by flashing again or starting over and flashing twice

I mean, I am smart but like not up to date on the these terms and stuff lol
BUT that's not the point! I need help lol
and skinzy98, I'm sorry bro I can't take a picture. no camera..
but yeah it stays on the motorola screen when you start it up, the initial start screens are, Motorola logo and android logo, then it goes to the home screen . But when you start it, it just stays on the motorola logo. D:
It sounds like its just soft bricked. Is there a thread for this device if so Odin or heimdall will fix it depending on whether you have a Mac or pc

Major Major Issue! Please help!

Hey guys I have happily had my samsung infuse for over a year now. I decided to root my device around 6 months ago, and I have been happily using the Zeus Rom. All of a sudden my phone has started to freeze up at the title screen and not allow me to go further. It literally freezes up and shuts off? Now I have attempted to hard-reset and wipe all the cache's but seems as if nothing works. And to add upon that, my USB slot doesn't work either (been charging off of an Anker Charger) for the last 2 months. Therefore, Odin is out of the question. What should I do?
Please help!
Regards,
Ahadsz
If you still have the ROM on your phone then wipe everything and reinstall it. See what happens.

Upload a ROM to drop box and grab it from there so you can flash it

Verizon Galaxy S3 won't start up after flashing

Hi, I just rooted my Verizon Galaxy S3 and it was successful. I flashed the Cyanogenmod 10 ROM from their forums, http://get.cm/?devic...vzw&type=stable this one and also the Gapps for it. I flashed them both on CWM and rebooted. Now, it is just stuck on the boot-up animation. It has been around 20 minutes, and I know that even the first boot wouldn't take this long. Is there something wrong? Should I force turn off my phone by taking the battery out? I know that doing that isn't the most wise choice, but it is just taking too long and I'm getting a little nervous.
If you forgot to wipe, that is your problem.

Stuck at the initial software update?

Hey, I just got my N5 today and it won't show any progress on the software update screen and it won't advance either.
Anyone else having the same issue?
I did when I first got it. I rebooted and reconnecting to WiFi and it went through.

Same for me. Kind of a bummer but after the first time you should be fine.
thanks for the quick replies.
But its not working I've rebooted multiple times even tried a factory reset
EDIT : Does it show any progress? maybe it's working and I just don't know..
Does it still show update available in Settings/About Phone/System Updates? You can also check version under phone stats before and after. I don't remember how long it takes or progress indicator.

Boot into recovery and do a factory reset then try again.

[Q] Black screen after trying to unroot.

Hello XDA,
2 days ago I installed CyanogenMod via their new installer everything went great. After a 2 days of testing I decided that the Nexus 5 is a great phone and doesn't need any custom rom (atleast not for me). So I followed this guide to unrooting the device and setting it back to the stock rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
I selected recovery and after that I'm supposed to see a dead android. But I'm not seeing anything my screen is black. I can some light so it is still turned on.
I'm kinda freaking out over here so I really could use some help on restoring this ( if its possible ).
Greetings,
Liquidfood.
I'm dutch so my English might not be perfect.
Can you get into the bootloader? Our is your screen black too? I would try to flash the factory image again

That's not a good sign. Look for the LG flash tool, I believe it's in the general forum and try that. I think it's your only hope at this point.

How you should I go about this. I still have warranty in the store that I bought it form ( probably not because bootloader is unlocked. ). But I wanna try it anyways should I tell them the truth or not? And can I send it directly to google/lg?
Ok so a miracle happend. I got it to work again, I let the battery drain and hooked it up to my computer and got in the bootloader. So I flashed the rom again and now it worked!
