I flashed Aorth's CM9 ICS build yesturday and it's been working great for me. Of course it lacks bluetooth and the camera doesn't zoom, but honestly that doesn't bother me. However now there is a Samsung supported ICS FW available. Anyone wanna state the difference between the two? Does the sammy one use touchwiz like on the Galaxy Tab 2? Or is CM9 better anyway in the long run?
Any Sammy OS will will have some form of touchwiz. Its personal preference, I am running CM9 on mine now and have no plans of changing to anything else, unless we somehow get AOKP, which I doubt will happen.

IR doesn't work with CM9 either if you need that.
True, I always forget about that thing.

I'm running Samsung official ICS but I have ditched touchwiz and instead am using the stock android ICS launcher, as I hate touchwiz.
This gives me the best of both worlds: a stable OS release with the same launcher as my GNexus.

Hey just wondering if any one has given any thought to this, I know the leak is for the European, GSM variant but would it be possible to mix and match to make a Rom.i imagine not without the kernel but I figured did ask.

Read somewhere on here that the CM team is already working on CM10 for this device now that we have an unlockable boot loader.

Yes that is awesome, but I actually don't mind the Samsung overlay (highly modified and running nova of course), and there camera has really grown on me. I take allot of pics and while I like pro capture, LG camera and camera zoom fx, they never really seem to work like stock for me.

i was also wondering if we would get a port of the jellybean + touchwiz leaked update.
for some reason i like touchwiz a lot more then stock now.
Even AOSP Jellybean without Samsung enhancements would be interesting to try.
I'm not much into CyanogenMod (no offense to its many fans).

Is there any way to get the stock camera apk from the s3 to work on CyanogenMod10? I miss all the options of the stock camera apk
+1
There is no camera app in Jelly Bean to replace for starters. Also the ICS TW camera code is too integrated into the framework to be a simple fix. I'm also hoping someone comes up with something better than what we have now eventually.

Thats one of the reasom Im back on touchwiz for now...camera blows on cm10
Ya that sucks, might have to go back my self

need a rom maker to cross touchwiz with jellybean. would be nice to have the stock apps on the new android... stock camera, nfc, svoice, beam, wifi direct, etc
since samsung is working on updating the phone, i imagine this will happen on it's own in due time...

Yeah, January of 2013 for Verizon users!
You could always install a launcher overtop of a themed modded TW ROM like Bean's or Synergy's.
Is there a rom that's just like the galaxy s3 for the skyrocket that's fast and stable? I can find anything on the xda app

There are a few that use the GS3's Touchwiz launcher (example: SkyICS). But, I haven't see any w/ all of the GS3's features (like Smart Stay, etc).
Ya it would be cool to have a ROM that had all the gs3 apks and stuff
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
yeah people continue to point to those roms but thats not a straight touchwiz rom like on the gs3
i would have thought there would be just about the same amount of TW roms to Stock Android roms

I had smartstay on my rocket before. It didn't work great and I really just didn't care for it. You can get it though. I'm sure you can poke around with search and grab an apk for it

So I just changed to this phone from my droid incredible 2. On the droid incredible 2 there were known issues for all aosp roms and and all ics roms like Bluetooth problems. I was wondering what issues the s3 has, and if jellybean is stable.
Thanks

AOSP jellybean is like 99.9% stable, there are a few hiccup issues with bluetooth, but nothing terrible And some report signal issues, but not everybody is having that issue. Jellybean Touchwiz is basically 100% stable, so really you can't go wrong either way
Thanks for the reply ! I appreciate it

Congratulations on you new Samsung GS3PO. I actually came from a HTC Tbolt (an Eris before that). I dealt with some of the same issues. Man I would like to recommend that you go with either Synergy or Cleanrom. I've tried both and I have no issues with either so stability is a non issue for me. No disrespect to AOSP but I realized way back when I had that beloved 'bolt that I spent way too much time trying to make AOSP look like Sense. Touchwiz is really clean, fast and simple. Plus the stuff that I didn't like about TW has been removed from those ROMs. Clean ROM is fast (too fast at times) with the green. Synergy is silky smooth eye candy with the ICS/JB blue. Pick your pleasure and take care.

The only reason the Droid Incredible 2 had those problems was because lack of source and we only had gingerbread source and kernels.
Yea I know that. I just didn't know what the situation with the s3 is as jb isn't realeased officially yet

Just picked up a brand new galaxy s3. Loving it so far. 1st question of many. How can I get all my emails to show up? I synced my emIl account but it still shows 0 in the in box.
Edit: scratch that I guess it need a min to load.
What's a good stockish rom? I cant rememeber what I had on my nexus. I thinknit was akop. Do they have a rom for the s3.
Synergy if you want one without problems

I'm running aokp at the moment. Its been very stable and for the most part has a stock feel, with a few added functions.
Clean ROM for sure

I think Synergy is hands-down the best Touchwiz ROM for the GS3.
You want tw or aosp?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
CleanRom has the fewest mods, so it should be the most stable. Synergy has a ton of extra mods. Can't go wrong either way. I am running CleanROM 4.5 and have not found a reason to update.
Welcome to the club. You'll love the phone!
Try Beans 11 or clean rom 5.6
Yeah I'm loving it so far. Coming from a droid X, galaxy nexus, and now a galaxy s3 I can see a great improvement. The 1 thing that irritates me is the typing isn't as smooth as ios. It's alot better with swift keyboard but still not as smooth as I want.
I went with synergy rom and it's great. I'm guessing it's touchwiz since it comes with the touchwiz launcher (I like apex launcher).
I'll probably give aokp a try since I liked it on my nexus.
Oh yeah love the multi Window that's just bad***!
