I am LOVING my battery life!!! I keep seeing people gating on the longevity but im not seeing it. Im not rooted yet and im still getting 18+ hours on an everyday basis.
Also seeing people talk about how their phone doesnt stay on 100%. My TB had that issue but my S3 will stay on 100% for an hour after being unplugged if i dont touch it. I havent found one thing to complain about with this device yet.
All notifications turned off except handcent sms. When im at home in the morning or evening i keep screen at 1% and 25% during the day. 45% if outside.
I have 4g turned off and 3g forced with "phone info" app. The only thing i cant figure out with this phone is turning off/on background data. After turning it back on after turning it off, my email errors out even though data is certainly on. So for now i just leave background data on. Im sure battery life would be even more impressive if i was able to figure this little bug out.

Mine is pretty ridiculous compared to the Nexus. I'm easily getting over 2.5 hours screen time, and yesterday I was at 61% after 12 hours and an hour of screen time.
Edit: Currently at 90% after 5 hours off the charger today. Not much screen time, though.

I'm not very impressed with battery life...yet. I think I've got some sort of issue going on. My "Android System" entry is very high. Sometimes higher than screen. Anyone have any ideas as to what my problem is? Another note is that my phone is always warm to the touch, even with screen off, and nothing (intentionally) happening in the background.

Do you mind posting a SS of your settings on the Phone Info app?
My Verizon S3 is horrible. Even after a full wipe (x3) and custom clean rom and frozen apps that run as services.. Just sitting on my desk, it's bad.. 6 hours into the day and i'm down to 60%. Awesome phone, Samsung!
I'm very impressed with my battery life. It is such a leap from my Inc. Yesterday I got 15 1/2 hours with 5 hours screen time! It was a really good day. Usually get around 12+ with around 4 screen time. Mine also stays on 100% for a little bit after charging. I have yet to root, and haven't really changed to many settings to help with battery life. So I'm pretty sure it can do even better!

My battery life has been nothing short of amazing (my wife too, who got her SGS3 the same day as me). I haven't rooted, so just disabled a few apps and did some minor tuning of settings... the best example I can give is this past Saturday...
We drove 600 miles on a round-trip through three different states, a mixture of back roads, typical suburban areas and through two major cities, so in other words a good mix of connectivity, some roaming for sure included... I used the phone a fair bit throughout the day because we went to a family gathering, so there were quite a few pictures being taken with it and people playing with the "new hotness" of course... I played games for a bit on the ride (err, when my wife was driving at the time!), checked mail, Twitter and Facebook probably once or twice an hour on average (I know, I have no life), a little web surfing to look stuff up, played with S Voice for a few minutes, streamed some Pandora for a while and used GPS for a few minutes here and there. The WHOLE DAY I had wi-fi, GPS, mobile data, NFC and background sync turned on (only things turned off were bluetooth and LTE).
Phone came off the charger at 8am with 100% charge... By 9pm that night I JUST hit 50%! And by the time I finally went to bed at around 2am it was at right around 25% (because I read for an hour or so with it before falling asleep).
That, to me, is pretty freakin' phenomenal! The only time I ever saw comparable battery life was my Epic with the big, fat extended battery. And, again, this is 100% stock with minimal tuning and I'm not sacrificing any feature that I care anything about (I don't have all the motion gestures or face unlock or stay turned on for example because I can live without those just fine). I DO ensure that the apps I have installed are all completely well-behaved and I turn all off but a very small handful of push notifications, that's the sort of "tuning" I'm talking about.
So yeah, count me as completely ecstatic about my SGS3 battery life for sure
Im NOT rooted or anything and running everything stock and every single day I have managed to get at the very least 4 hours of screen on time. I have brightness on 50% with wifi on and no airplane mode. Battery is amazing on this phone and I could not be loving it anymore.

That's odd. No notifications running in the background or anything? I've been getting awesome battery life on mine.
So it seems from this thread, non-rooted users are getting better battery over rooted?
my gf's verizon (100% stock) gs3 is ridiculous... 14 hours with 53% left and 2.5 hours of screen time. compared to my AT&T GS3 which is at the same level after 6 hours and 2 hours of screen.
a lot of it may also have to do with what networks you're on; i.e. my gf was on wifi all day whereas i was at work in/out of LTE/HSPA+.

in this thread it seems that way but read thru the other 100 threads about this same topic and you will the battery life increases after rooting and debloating. Im seeing anywhere from 21-27hrs battery life with around 4hrs screen on. Brightness 50% avg., wifi, data, and gps all on...no air plane mode!
I wonder if it might be helpful to list off the apps we all have disabled (or removed entirely for rooted users)? Might be an interesting comparison point. Here's mine:
AllShare Controller
AllShare Play
ChatON
Dropbox (interestingly, I have two of them listed and disabled- everyone else?)
Email (replace with K9)
Exchange services
Flipboard (I prefer the plain old Google Reader app, believe it or not!)
Game Hub
Gmail (I use the web version)
Google Play Books
Google Play Movies
Google Play Music

Google+
Kies Air
Media Hub

Music Hub

Polaris Viewer 4.0 (replaced with Documents To Go)
S Planner widget
S Suggest

One other thing I just thought of: I'm using Go Launcher. Just in case TouchWiz is a power hog somehow
Was on wifi most of the day yesterday since I was at home, but I'm going on 2 hours of screen on (not much I know) and 30 hours and i'm still at 41% battery.

i got about 8 hours from the tbolt.
getting about 14 hours from s3. but the thing is... im getting the 14 hours using my phone freely! with my tbolt i was always concerned about using it up and was careful way too much. if i used the tbolt the way im using the s3, id probably get more like 5-6 hours.

Nothing running in the background - even using lowest brightness and power savings mode turned on.
Even when I was 100% stock, the battery was pretty terrible so I doubt there's an issue with the rom.
I'm pretty happy with mine. By the end of day yesterday it's 40% after 14 hours with just a little under 3 hours screen time. I'm on WiFi the first half of the day and on 4G the rest. Didn't seem to be much different if the 4G signal is decent. At work it seems drain a little faster without the screen on, I think due to the poor 4G signal here.
Yep I am loving this phone. It is getting double the battery life of my rezound which had the 2700 battery. I'm only losing 1% an hour on standby overnight. I don't have that feeling of - oh I want to play with my phone but I better not if I want to be able to use it in an emergency later.

I'm also coming from a Thunderbolt, but I had the OEM extended battery (2750mAh), so for me the Galaxy S III is a little more constraining. The Thunderbolt with extended battery would last through a day (~16 hours) with moderate-heavy use.
The Galaxy S III will also last ~16 hours, but the use has to be closer to light-moderate (~3 hours screen on). I've got power saving mode on, I'm not using WiFi at all, and I'm running it completely stock and unrooted (but with some bloat disabled).
Overall, I'd say the battery life is decent. I am, however, looking forward to an OEM extended battery.

I see people saying rooting added 24 hours to their battery life. With root and CPU tuner i get around 12 hours of battery life no matter what. I woke up and idle/ standby used around 30 percent of my battery. Is that normal?
Usually my display tops the battery list but it drains quicker than I'd expect it to since i run 11% brightness. I run conservative governor and 245-1000mhz with 60 up 33 down. I have a weather widget, 2 battery widgets, and a ram widget.
Can anyone recommend me anything or give me tips top find out why this is happening? I'm running iced glacier 1.1.4 and gr8s 2.3 kernel.
I'm down to 80% in a little over an hour with display at 75% and nothing else over 10%. I do have a screen off profile too which makers me wonder how I lose that much overnight. I have the weather channel widget but its not on the battery screen so I doubt that is the problem or could it be?

Ugh just got 8 hours battery time on a day of moderate use. This is horrible. I'm gonna need a new battery in under a year I'm charging it ever damn day. I check the processor speed a lot too it's usually on ~360 mHz which is extreme underclocking. How is the new Cyno Alpha ROM for battery life? I might have to try that / new kernel and see if that helps anything. This is annoying beyond belief.

Only real things you can do are:
Check widgets and apps for update times and make them update less frequently
Turn brightness down
Use 'conservative' setting on set cpu and setup screen off profile.
Maybe some other people have good ideas. 8 hours seems low.
I dont think thats even close to normal, I have mine set at 1.7ghz and used it here and there through out the day and was trying to run the battery down as I had just bought it that week, it took me into the next day before I recharged it...
Me neither. I have everything that jj had mentioned done and still get between 8-12 hours. I have to charge it like twice a day on some days even running on 350 mhz. I'm about to call tmobile and ask for a new battery.

I had major battery life issues, I don't think the phone was sleeping properly (it would always randomly turn the screen on, among other weird things).
as soon as I switched to CM7 my problems ceased and I'm getting through an entire day of good use without charging
Battery life for me is very solid.... yesterday took phone fully charge off the charger around 6am, moderate to heavy use throughout the day, mainly emails & web browsing. Came home around 8pm and had about 45% left of battery.
Charged it till full last night before I went to bed, pulled it off the charger around 11 I think. Woke up this morning and it still at 100%, received a few messages & emails. Running CM7
It does sound like either some people have crazy background data they aren't aware of (or wake-lock issues) or there are some bad batteries.
I did a test yesterday to find out how well the battery would hold up as I see a lot of complaints regarding battery life.
I am running a stock rom that I rooted and removed the crap I didn't want / use (including the News and Stocks app). I do have setCPU scaling down the CPU when the screen is off, that's really it though. Scaling is ondemand.
I run 3 push email accounts (1x Exchange and 2x Gmail) and weather updates every 3 hours.
I took it off of the charger when I went to bed the previous night at 11 pm. It was off of the charger for 20 hours. I spent about 13 of the 20 hours on wifi, the rest on 3G. It had moderate use (web browsing, XDA, some photos and videos of the kids, about 25 text messages).
At the end of the 20 hours I had a 35% charge still.
For the people only getting 8 hrs out of the battery I am curious how the use/background data differs.
I don't have any email linked besides gmail. I never use wifi or blue tooth. A normal day consists of mobile network only on low processor speeds with 11% brightness. I do haves screen off profile too.
I'll check facebook/twitter here and there (both have background update turned off). I text more than anything, browse the web a bit, and use the xda app a bit. The only thing i can think of is the battery monitor widget monitoring my but before that the battery life was bad too.
I literally have most things turned off and what I have on is at its minimum. I do have transition animations on but I doubt that would kill a battery that fast. There's never apps or widgets above like 2% on the battery usage screen. It's always display above 70% then idle/standby and android OS. I do think it is a battery problem cause I have low brightness but it still leads my usage by a lot.

Hmm, that's weird - I do think 8 hours is pretty low. I'm a typically light-moderate user: few phone calls, text messages, google chatting, light browsing, some gaming. And usually what amounts to about an hour a day of just playing with my phone without actually doing anything . My routine is generally to charge it overnight while I sleep. I take it off the charger around 8am, and it easily lasts until bed later that night. On the days when I've used it on the heavy side, it gets down to 10% or less by bedtime, but still - always makes it well past 8 hours! Plus, I keep it on automatic brightness. BTW, I'm running stock (no need to root it IMO).
For you to be getting 8 hours with the settings you describe doesn't seem right. Might want to contact TMO about getting a replacement battery or something.

I'm terribly disappointed in this phone's battery! If HTC comes out with a phone that has all these features, it should be able to handle the the power needed! I read all these threads ... turn down screen, turn of this and that. So basically to make the phone ... usable you have to turn everything down and off. Just pisses me off. If i can have sync on for 24 hours something is wrong. if i can't have my gps on and listen to the radio for maybe 20 minutes a day, watch tv for half our, check my email send text without carrying an extension cord ... then htc should have just mentioned that. Instead they give you a battery llife that isn't accurate. I'm just so pissed! it's like me telling you that your new bmw sports car is pretty fast but you have to change the tires, don't listen to the radio and keep your lights off or you'll need to recharge battery and gas every hour.
Anyhow ... i get 11 hours on my battery. I have ADW launcher and fancy widget. I have my tmobile and facebook contacts sync'd. I don't check face book more than twice a day so I don't have the refresh on. The weather is every 6 hours i think. 11 Hours 50 minutes is the longest my phone survived with 11% screen brightness wifi / blue tooth / gps / etc off. I do have vibrate and sound off. I haven't made any phone calls on it yet. I send and received about 25 text. 5-10 min web page surfing. I would probably go mad if i had to make a call. I would definitely go mad if i used this phone normally.
I noticed my weather widget in sense and fancy widget was running when checking running tab in applications. Since sense runs in the background, does this mean i'm using battery running it or is it disabled? What else could I turn off in sense when using a different launcher?
Before rooted I got around 12-13 hours of moderate use, so I think your battery is not functioning well. You may call T-Mo for a replacement. Anyway, after rooted and flashed Iced Glacier (Stock launcher, bloatware removed), I always get 18 hours or more. You may wanna try.
I am running 9hrs moderate use on none rooted using wifi calling on all day in my home. Battery is 85%

Now that I've just rooted my Inspire, are there any fixes that are available that will help improve battery life? I am using the RCDMix3D rom, and my phone barely lasts 6 hours. I take all of the suggested actions like turning off bluetooth, gps, wifi, autosync, and background data, but it doesn't seem to help much. I even bought a 1600mAH battery, which lasts no longer than the standard 1230mAH one.
So, looking for anything I can flash, or download, or whatever that will help improve it. Good battery life is something I really need in a phone, and the Inspire's is the one thing that is making me consider switching phones. (which I'd rather not do, I love this phone!)
Thanks!
honestly if you are only getting six hourse with the setup you have, im tempted to say something is wrong with your phone......
unless you are getting 4 or more hours of screen-on time. how much screen on time?
i was getting 15 hours out of the box with 2 hours of screen on. now with leedroid, slightly underclocked, im getting about 24 hours with 3 hours screen time.

OP, if you're talking 6 hours to go from 100% to 0%, you've got something else going on. Big time. Especially of you're turning off all that stuff and *still* only getting 6 hours.
Now, if you had the screen on that entire time, I'd actually say you have great battery life, but I suspect that's not the case.
If it happens with both of your batteries, there has to be something else running on your phone, perhaps as a background service, that's sucking that much juice.
@ OP:
I get like 1 hour call per 18-20% battery on 3G/H. So 6 hours of call time from 100 to 0 is good in my opinion.
If not on calls: I did a stress test 2 days back. I got ~6.5 hours display time for movies from 100 to 5% battery with display at 25%.
So like people pointed out above, unless u r continuously on calls or having display on for atleast 3-4 hours with data transfer on 3g/h, something is wrong.
Here are my normal stats:
1 hour calls, 2 hours display exclusively with data transfer, all these on 3G/H, with about 12 hours standby, I come home with about 35-40% battery left.
I agree with the posters above there is definitely something wrong. Slightly UC & UV I get 6-7h screen time.

A lot of testing with legitimate lab equipment has proven that ProdiCell batteries are not actually 1600mah, rather 1060mah which is actually lower than stock. Sorry if you bought one of their batteries.
I wasn't able to find the blog I was reading last night, but I can link you to the amazon comment thread where I first started my online research. >> Link <<
Yikes, that would suck if it was something wrong with the phone. I bought it off someone and was practically brand new, but I think it is out of warranty now.
It did this both before and after I had rooted my phone, so I'm not sure what background processes there could be that would be causing this? I know that some of the AT&T bloatware was always running in the background before (like Blockbuster), but I have since removed all of that crap.
I planned on doing some stress-testing today just to see. So far it has been unplugged for 56 minutes with 15 minutes of display time on, a 3 minute phone call, and using the internet for 5 minutes. Also sent/received about 20 SMS. Battery is at 94%.
Maybe I will switch back to the stock battery that came with the phone and see if there is any improvement. The one I am using now is meant for an HTC Desire, but I had read that those with an Inspire were able to use it with improvements. Not sure what brand makes it, but I do know it came from eBay That could be it by itself hah.

Have you tried a battery calibration? It's easy to do manually, but there's a convenient app on market called, wait for it... battery calibration, that makes it a one-click process.
I really doubt it's the phone hardware itself. Probably some combo of battery/calibration/rom/kernel/radio.
BTW, the phone just came out in mid-February, so technically it's not out of warranty. It's like a year or year and a half or something.
I'll try that app for sure. Thanks!
When I called HTC in May to order replacement battery/SIM door covers, they said my warranty would run out in the next month. Maybe the CS rep was a moron.
Do a fresh install and calibrate your battery. Use titanium backup to freeze user apps. Add your apps one by one to find out which apps are hogging your battery. Also, try charging it before you go to bed. Take it off the charger, and when you wake, check to see if your phone uses more than 1% battery per hour.

Also make sure to turn off WiFi & mobile data when not using it, that will extend your charge.

I literally just rooted/flashed my ROM yesterday. I charged the phone back up to 100% today and used that calibration app, and so far it seems to have helped. It definitely uses more than 1% an hour. So far it's at 45% after having been unplugged for 5 hours and 37 minutes, with 2 hours and 4 minutes of display time, 10 minutes of phone calls on 3G, sent/received about 100 texts, checked/downloaded about 20 emails, and taken 10 or so pictures.
Of course, WiFi/Background data/auto-sync/bluetooth/GPS are off, and brightness is at about 40%.
I've got a weird one on this particular battery cycle. I used the battery calibration app before I went to sleep last night and unplugged the phone at 100% charge. While I was asleep...the dialer used 16% of my battery according to my battery stats and the total battery was down into the 60%'s...I searched google, and other sources / forums report a reboot fixes it, and the issue likely occured from a "Wake Lock State" occuring at my last previous phone call the previous evening...ugh hell of a bug...I haven't rebooted it yet, and still notice even plugging and unplugging all day dialer still in low teens for batt. %...seems to be an Android thing although thre seemed to be a preponderance of HTC's...but they are popular devices and there was a Samsung tablet in there with the same thing...
I just got a whole day with 3 hours screen time and gmail and htc sense getting updates, more than 100 texts and 40 minutes of calls and wifi on half the time the battery on this phone is awesome. At night i get maybe 2-3% drain in about 7 hours. I suggest you find a ROM with some UV capabilities, the ones with the oc/uv daemon are great as they already have the settings built in.

Wow, that's pretty good. What ROM are you using?
Doing a nandroid backup, and then gonna flash Gingerbeast after work to see if battery improves or not.
That's another weird thing about my phone; one of the places I work my shifts are only 4 hours long. I go in and the battery is at about 95% because I've been streaming music on the way there. I come out, and it's down to 30%, or less. The funny part is I don't even get a cell signal down there, and when I do I send and receive maybe 20 texts during that time. Nothing else. Don't even turn the display on aside from that.
So, for Gingerbeast, is there a different kernel I need to flash? I was reading a little about it, but as I am still new to this whole thing, I'm not entirely sure what that is. Do I just flash it using CWM? I downloaded one from LordMod that is supposed to help.
Thanks again all!

Someone asked which ROM I'm using, its the one in my Sig...when you dont have signal I would put it in airplane mode because your phone will search and search for a signal and that kills battery fast.

The reason why you are losing so much battery is your phone is trying to connect to a tower in order to gain service. Switch to airplane mode when at work.

There's the culprit!!! When phone does not have proper signal, it increases the radio power so that it may not lose connection. And when connection comes in, and is good enough, it starts to slowly scale down the power to the radio.
Hahaha, that's awesome. I was thinking the exact same thing as the three posts above me when I was working today... kind of an "oh, duh!" moment, then I come back and check the thread and ya'll confirmed it.
Flashing Gingerbeast right now, so hopefully that will show if it's the ROM or my hardware that's causing the battery drain. Gonna try it out for the rest of the day, though I will miss my Sense 3.0
Fellow MT4GS users,
How is your battery lasting you? I'm coming from a MT4G, even though I eventually modded it, and it I used to get at least a full day and have to charge that night at the worst unless I really heavily used it.
My MT4GS has been lasting me half a day or so before I get into the yellow/red and I'm usually charging before the sun goes down.
My main culprit according to the built in battery indicator is display at 65% (I'm on automatic brightness)
Just over 10 hours today for me before I had to charge.
ps- Anyone know how to remove the annoying low power notifications? I'm getting two pop ups in a row.
Yeah mine generally lasts about 14 hours at moderate usage, but it's only been 2 days, and I remember when I got the MyTouch 4G it died on me while I was still at work and then after a week or so it got much better...
Yeah, I can agree with you there I think my MT4G was a little wonky the first week or so. We'll see how it goes.

Only lasting 6 hours yesterday ....
My battery lasted about 33 hours. After the 1st full charge. So way better than my other phones have done. This wasnt heavy usage though. No videos or music just a few calls, lots of emails and some web browsing.
One problem I am having is low call volume. My videos and music are perfectly loud, just the call volume sucks.

Well make sure, your phones screen brightness is on low. Also make sure wifi, gps, bluetooth are off. Also make sure you kill some of the apps you ran on a task manager. just gotta find ways to keep the battery life up.
Well when I first got the phone, I didnt charge it until it was almost dead. Then fully charged it.
Also I turned off GPS, WiFi ect. I also use task manager to kill background programs that I don't need or want running.
We will see if the battery life goes down after a few weeks. Sometimes they take time to normalize.
Oh what task you ended and what task manger you used?

I appreciate the help but the logic is off. This is the latest ..and i stress smartttphone. It is supsupposed to be used as such. Bluetooth ..4g..music...video calling..maps..etc.. if u use of of these features six hours it will last. If you use them all try maybe 4 hours. Plus those boxes are annoying when the batterly is low. This phone has got to be rooted.

I'm gonna have to agree with that one, that's pretty much no different than saying buy a car but don't drive it so you can save gas lol
I have gotten to around 12 hours or more now. Still moderate overall but heavier browser usage.
I do not kill tasks or turn off wifi, gps or anything. My brightness is auto.
I uninstalled the recent maps update because I saw where G2 users seem to think the recent update is draining their battery so I wondered if it could maybe be causing issues here too.
Anyways my battery life has gotten into the acceptable range and that was all I really did other than have more days to monitor it.

This appears to be the same battery that is in the Sensation 4G according to Google.
For us this is good because Ebay and Amazon are already flooded with replacement batteries.
We need to find a higher capacity mAh battery but with the same size as to not make us have to get a replacement back. This shouldn't be that hard.
My old phone has a smaller battery with a higher mAh capacity so the battery in the myTouch 4G Slide is an utter disappointment. They could have easily produced a 3000 mAh battery for this beast of a phone.
Edit: Found a 1900 mAh battery for only 9.99.

Screen is on the least bright setting. I'm an ex blackberry user and dont even have one app. I could care less about apps. I'm charging every 5 hours and thats sometimes from just it sitting around/ not even using the phone. The thing better get it's act together. I'm starting to like the keyboard too but I'm up at 5am and if im charging at noon that's terrible. Especially with minimal use.

As I posted in my other thread, battery sucks on this phone. I had to keep wifi off all the day to keep it from dying by 6pm. Funny how 4g speed is so bad in nyc that wifi is the only other option to do something meaningful.

Weird I live in small city and 4G is crazy fast. When I get to a big city like Baltimore, Maryland the 4G was slow. My thoughts are there too many people on the 4G network. T-Mobile did promised us double the 4G speed and they need more Towers too.
~
For the first couple days, my battery life was awful. I'd be getting low-bat notifications when I got home from an 8-hour day at work.
But of course that's always the case with new phones that haven't even had the settings tweaked...
- Placed a Wifi toggle widget on the homepage and turn it off every day after leaving home for work in the morning.
- Ensured certain programs and updates were not running in the background automatically:
~ Turned off Autosync on accounts (manual only)
~ Turned off autoupdates for weather
~ No Bluetooth, GPS, Wifi, unless turned on for a specific reason
~ Enabled power efficiency and power saver modes (30%)
~ Disabled Always-on data connection
~ Disabled auto-updates in various apps (Friendcaster, IM+ Pro, etc.)
- Turned the screen off when not in use
Today I'm at 40% after 14 hours of mixed use. I'd say that's DAMN good.
By the way, for those seeing the whole "Autosync off" thing and thinking that you can't do it, just do it. I don't get my work email or personal email on my phone unless I tell it to and it's utterly awesome. Less stress. Less looking at my phone constantly. It feels free and just plain great. And I used to be superconnected 24/7 syncing every 5 minutes (if push wasn't available).
So I've had this phone for a week now. Its a nice upgrade from my infuse 4g. But the battery life is killing me. I've tried every Tom.available specifically for the skyrocket and even the one kernel in the dev section. My brightness is 15% and I use juice defender set to every 30 min. I listen to Pandora for an hour and it drops 20%. Yesterday it was dead in 6 hours. Its to the point where I'm seriously considering going back to my infuse. Has anyone else had issues?

Currently have juice defender, 0.2 kernel (didnt update and probably wont for now), and a few apps frozen by Titanium Backup. If I hardly touch the phone, it would last 41 hours. With medium usage, (Wifi, web browse, using poweramp for some time, calls, emails, etc) It would easily last my entire day.
What apps did you freeze?

I have JuiceDefender Ultimate set to balanced, I have only the clock widget running, I have GPS running continuously, (I use Wifi occassionally), I have screen set to about 50% and with very normal usage, the battery is at about 20-25%. I have a good number of email accounts and they are polled constantly, notifications are normal (phone settings), I use the Market app and the browser a number of times a day and I hear the occasional podcast. By the way, listening a podcast for about 1 hour (I use BeyondPod and earphones) results in minimal battery usage (about 2% for an hour or so).
So, I have to say that I am quite happy with battery life.
I know what you mean.
I had a stock skyrocket running in a weak LTE market in New Orleans and it would last like 8 hrs then I rooted and frooze all the bloat ware and de-installed a lot of app that were always using the web. I manually set my screen brightness. And changed the launcher to go launcher. Getting 18-20 hrs lots of moderate usage lte and all.
Yea something is wrong. I don't even use juice defender yet my phone last all day wit like 20% when I get home at 9. I use it to talk at least 3-4 and moderate usage for internet and am in wifi a lot. Youtube umm often..Defective maybe??

How do you turn off LTE?
look in settings, about phone, battery and see what is using all your battery. Battery life is very good on the stock ROM, rooted or not. You might also want to install Traffic Monitor and set it up for your billing cycle properly. Then watch for a few days to see what apps are using data. I do not recommend turning off LTE.
BTW there is already a very good Freeze list of Apps...

I was also having very low battery times on my SR to the point it was draining about 5% every half hour. I checked everything and everything was set properly. Yesterday was ready to pack it up to exchange it and thought I try restoring the phone. After restoring it, I now get excellent battery life. I'm getting about 1% battery drop every hour. Today tested throughout the day and listened to some music, some web browsing, a few FB posting, a call for 20 minutes and have 95% battery life left.

I've had pretty bad battery life here in the DC area (LTE is available here). It'll last about 6-7 hours with very mild use. Maybe I should restore it?
What did you do @ElCamino to reset it? Maybe I'll try that too (though I'll hate having to set it back up again).
Also, I turned juice defender back on today, and I've noticed that it seems to be keeping the device "Awake" even when the screen is off. I have it on "balanced." Can anyone give me a little advice on setting it up correctly. I can't seem to get it to let me open more granular settings.
So I am starting to wonder if there are some defective units being shipped. My wife and I both have a Skyrocket. Mine is great, been using it for 13.5 hours today on medium usage. I currently have 63% battery life left. I am completely stock, no juice defender or any other like programs. I even had No-LED installed and used my flashlight app for about 5 solid minutes.
My wife on the other hand has the exact same setup as I do. She complains she barely gets through half a day with medium usage. I charged up her phone earlier today. 7 hours ago I took it off the charger. She has used it with very light usage in that time and it is down to 60% already. When I say light usage I mean sitting on the table for at least 6.5 of those hours. Often she charges it up while watching TV at night. Takes it off the charger when she goes to bed and by morning the batter is at least half drained.

@jslanger I went to settings>privacy> and choose Factory Reset. Yes i know that you have to reinstall and setup the phone, but I am glad I did. Battery life has been great. I'm not in a LTE area but like mentioned battery was draining quick before.
Also I wouldn't recommend you use a back to restore, just in case that something with OS setup from Samsung causing this.

just to help you guys possibly, i moved some APPS to my SD card last night, at work i noticed mediaserver was second in my battery list and my phone was draining faster than normal
after moving the apps back to the phones internal, the drain seemed to stop, i also wiped the sd card just to be safe as i usually stream pandora anyways , but just another option to look out for
Weird....
So I've been closely following my battery life because it kind of sucks.
I had great battery life at home while on wifi over the weekend...about 18 hours no problem. I recharged it today at work, and was not getting great life during the day while on LTE/4G
Got home, turned on wifi, and the battery drain completely leveled out. I also noticed that while on cellular, the "Awake" bar is solid. As soon as I'm on wifi, it was able to not be continuously awake.
Not sure if anyone can comment on the reasons that this would be, but usually its the OPPOSITE. I really dunno why this would be.
Any help is appreciated!

I've had my AT&T Note 10 plus for over a week now, and for the first week the battery life was stellar. Three days ago seemingly out of nowhere, battery life had tanked. Some context - I came from a Note 9 which had fantastic battery life. Location on, widgets, notifications, etc were enabled. I feel I shouldn't have to yield to or cripple my phone to get decent battery life from it so I refuse to do that on a device that costs this much. It should just work.
Anyway, fast-forward to three days ago with my note 10+ - same settings and everything as my previous note 9 - and out of nowhere the battery life just starts to tank. Android System is seems to be the drain, but I'm not sure what in there is causing it. The phone is constantly warm. As an experiment, I've put it on airplane mode now with wifi still on and the phone has cooled down but I'm not sure yet if the battery is being drained less or not as it's only been a few minutes. But, I am losing about 6% battery/hr not even using the phone. That is rather unacceptable after it having worked just fine the first several days I've had it. I refuse to disable location and do other seemingly band-aid tricks to help the battery along as I don't feel that really solves the issue and should be unnecessary for a device that costs this much money. I also refuse to factory reset unless I ABSOLUTELY have to because these phones are a pain in the rear to setup, even with Samsung/Google's restore. So many settings to go in and manipulate.
I hope this resolves itself or I can get to the bottom of it somehow. I really love this phone and really don't want to go back to my iPhone XS Max over a battery issue but it is just unacceptable for the battery to drain like this with little to no actual use of the phone. The other night by the time I had placed it on the charger, android system was up over 30%...
is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I apologize if this has been discussed before - I couldn't find anything similar.
EDIT
After putting the phone in airplane mode (wifi left on), it has cooled down and battery drain seems to have improved. According to the battery graph it looks like the phone is also finally going to sleep. Previously the graph went straight down to the right with no flat spots.
What could this be? My cell reception hasn't changed and I'm at wit's end

I use Naptime from the play store by Francisco Franco and no as the title of his app says you don't get 9000% better battery. You'll need a couple of adb commands to get it to work it you're not rooted.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.doze&hl=en
This is a quote from Franco - Unbelievably improve the battery life during idle of your device by empowering Android's built-in Doze power saving functionality. It supports Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and now Pie. It features more options for rooted devices, but it'll also work if you're unrooted.
Naptime also allows you to disable WiFi, mobile data, location & bluetooth during doze for that battery life /flex ?
I find that I'm losing around 1 to 0.7% per hour is that normal or considered good? The other night my phone was at 95% I woke up 6 or so hours later and it was a 89%. I'll need to do some thorough testing, but I don't know what to make of those results.
Anyone on here have some advice on weather that idle time is good or bad? My device is an unlocked n10plus running Snapdragon
-If you charge to 100 and put it next to your bed. How much is it next morning?
-do you use the led cover?
-are there any less known apps in your list?
Switching off wifi, Bluetooth etc is useless. These are efficient enough nowadays.
I tested these kind of "tricks" and no difference after my nightly sleep test.
Sometimes an app like evernote, google foto's or journey is downloading a lot of data in your new phone.

With all my last Notes I get a .6 till .9% per hour in a situation where i put my Note next to my bed and do not touch it during sleeping hours.
I live on three different locations, in different countries even, and that shows some battery consuming difference. Routers and provider locations are not the same.
I have more than 180 apps installed. No games however.
I am not rooted, but use GSAM battery monitor. The quickest way to see the hourly consumption.
Factory reset means a full day work for me. E.g. banking apps need a lot of tuning. Even using Google and Samsung restore.

I charge it overnight while I'm sleeping. No lesser-known apps installed, no LED cover either. Not rooted. this literally happened out of nowhere after days of it being great. Not sure what could have happened, or if it's something on ATT's end? I don't know where else to look. I'm with you on the factory reset. It's such a waste of time and will take up hours.
mine also been facing this battery drain issue since day one. Tried using naptime just now and it improve my battery life ALOT!! Thanks for the suggestion

Pls try to charge it before going to bed and leave it to see how much it spends overnight w i t h o u t touching it. If it is higher than 1+%/hr something is wrong..
I buy a new phone every year because I am nuts. But I always register in Evernote my findings.
Frequently the power consumption is higher in the beginning, because a lot of background activity like data reading and background update of software.
If it is more than, let's say 1.2%/hr during overnight sleep it is not ok.
I am doing this test now with my Note 10+ 512 (Yes i am nuts, I told you) and will inform you later.
After seven hours .8%/hr which is normal.

I can tell you right now that it's losing 5-6% an hour just sitting there. The phone has been set up for days now so I know it's not the setup process. Like i said, it was fine for almost a week, then out of nowhere this happens...

Pffff, you have a problem. So in settings/maintenance/battery there no apps with high use?
After just rebooting the phone the consumption starts immediately?

Yes...I know I have a problem...Android System is the culprit. Beyond that, I do not know what in "android system" is causing it. Perhaps a wake lock bug? A wifi bug?
It's always the same with my Samsung devices it's rediciculus Samsung. On your note 10 or note 10+ before switching to flight mode set the network setting to 3g only! In 7 hours you will loose only 2% battery instead of 8 or more. Same was on my note 9 but Samsung finally patched this behavior a few month ago. Now the same with my note 10+.
This problem is only for the flight mode. So you can test 3 things in 3 nights. You have 3 options before going in flight mode. In network selection choose 3g only. Than watch what happens over night. Next time you choose 2g/3g only and you can try it with 2g only.
For me doing so 1-2 % battery drain in 7-8 hours.
I've pretty bad reception with 4G. But no crazy 25% drain over night, more like 4-5%. And that's with the non plus Note with exynos.
With naptime, do you get notifications instantly? I have auto sync on all the time, is there any issues around this?
Just bought a new galaxy note 10 and overnight from 100 % i have 57 this morning. Whats going on?
Is this normal on note 10 plus battery health?

My N10+ is about 3 weeks old, but I found, like you, that after a couple days of stellar battery life my idle was starting to drain pretty fast. Going to bed and waking about 6 hours later I was missing around 20%. This is with all apps closed, WiFi, BT, Location, Link to Windows, Mobile data, NFC, Sync, and AOD turned on. I turned off AOD, NFC, and Link to Windows. My battery drain since, for the better part of 2 weeks, has been about 5-6 percent. Around 1% an hour while sleeping. I don't know how I can help, but I hope this does. I honestly can't complain about this battery. I have been getting 6-7 of screen time before having to charge around 10%.
Edit: also turned off edge lighting, which I had enabled before.
ehm so you made your top shelf 1000$ device into a feature phone ... that's no solution

I don't remember saying, "Here's a solution for you!" No, I simply posted what I did to stop the horrible battery drain that I was experiencing.
Also, I spent the $1,100 on this phone and I'm pretty sure I can use it however I want. Feature phone, paper weight, fish tank decoration..:good:
My N10+ has been sat on my desk and not used for 4 hours yet battery has gone from 100% to 78%.
I don't know how this is acceptable.
