Hi all,
I may get my mother-in-laws broken 24Hr old TF300 with a broken screen to attempt repair, However cannot find any place to buy a replacement screen.
In Australia the Screen costs $250 according to the local sub-contractor for Asus. Asus don't repair the tablets in-house they have to be shipped to Sydney.
Anyone know of anywhere to buy online as yet? As that is twice the price I have seen quoted for the US.

At the end what happened? Did you bought that screen from eBay? Was it difficult to replace?
Thanks for your feedback, I broke my screen 2 weeks ago and Im facing the same problem.
What about the TF700 gorilla glass. Is there any posibility?

Hello XDA. I have a birthday coming up in a few days. I'm selling my stupid iPod Touch 4g 32gb on ebay (hopefully I'll get around $150, it's in a great condition with box, etc..), and I'm going to purchasing an ASUS eee Pad Transformer (TF101-A1) 16gb model. I was just wondering if this refurbished model here can be trusted:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230172
I currently use newegg to purchase all of my computer parts and have never had a problem with them, and I don't think I would have a problem with this. I'm just making sure that there won't be a problem.
If anybody else knows any insane deals going right now on new asus eee pad transformers, please feel free to tell me because $300 is around my price point. If I could, I would obviously purchase the prime version, but I don't have $500 to spend..
Thank you for the help in advance.

I While I can not speak specifically for refurbished Transformers since I do not own one I generally do not have a problem purchased refurbished items and have done so many times in the past. True or not I rationalize that someone must have given them a good once over. For me something in that $ range I would look strongly at the warranty being offered by the manufacturer.

The warranty is 30 days.. so that might be a problem. I dont think ill have a problem with it though, cause if anythings wrong with it, it will probably have an issue within 30 days.

I would trust refurbished models ( make sure they are not just used but actually refurbished ) because those ones have gone back asus has looked over them and made sure they are all good before they are sold again. The BNIB ones go from the factory into a box and are shipped out
I bought one from newegg. The charger had some light scratches from who ever returned it, but it's been good to me. Tomorrow is the expiration of my 30 days return, funny enough.
Also, look again, you get a 90 day warranty from ASUS. And you can always pick up an extended from Newegg.

Do you purchase the extended warranty at the checkout?
No, I have before with a GPU, though.
I trust Newegg to the fullest to not use some crap warranty company. The main reason was that for the $50 the warranty cost, you can get a brand new one, assuming they ever come back in stock. They were out when I bought mine.
I bought my TF from Newegg, that same link. I haven't had or seen any issues with it. Newegg is reputable too.
What is newegg's return policy on an item like this? Restocking fee?

I'm not sure exactly, here's their standard return policy:

They have an exchange only policy for these. You get 30 days. Their service is excellent, though. No worries. Ah, and if you sign up for a free shoprunner trial you get free second day shipping and free returns. Sometimes if you call Newegg they'll send you a pre-paid return label, but not always. Oh, and there's almost always a $10 promo code for new customers.
Hey Guys,
My tablet slipped out of my bag this morning and I cracked the screen :crying: ... I've been googling around for any form of screen repair / replacement but I couldn't find much on google... what are my options now?
Just to add some details, the touch screen still works & I did not notice any distortion in the colours... so it might just be a case of broken screen.

I have a cracked screen too... I had it in a backpack without it's case, not my proudest moment. I've been looking around trying to find a repair place, but the only thing I've found is this place in San Diego that repairs Asus products. I emailed them asking for a quote, but didn't get a response back. Here's the link: http://www.sandiegopchelp.com/services/tablet-repair/asus/
I think I remember it being about $250 at the Asus repair center. Unfortunately you can't get a quote without sending it in and being held hostage with the shipping charges to get it back if you elect not to repair.
If you bought it at Best Buy the geek squad may have options??
Are you past the 90 days to get a Square Trade warranty?
Good luck.

I'm based in Australia and I just called Asus, they told me the repair would be above $300 which is more than half the price of the tablet and I have to send it to Sydney plus I have to pay for the shipping.

Looks legit...lot of info on the G+ page.
One of their customer feedbacks said "happy with $62 over $300 for a Toshiba tablet screen replacement"
Busted scrn
Here in the usa if it happened in your automobile its possible that insurance would pay to replace / repair it
thats just a thought for you....
I repair cracked ipads / iphones but i dont have a source yet for the 700 screens or id send one to you. It also takes a bit of experience - skill - tools to replace a screen right - its beyond easy to cause more damage to the device removing the old one if you are not experienced in doing it.
Its gorilla glass...you cant repair it.....it must be replaced
yes its just the outter cover over the actual display, they are seperate frm each other
it has to be replaced in a hi tech cleanroom.....one spec of dust on that display when applying the new glass and your screwed.....
Worst case scenario.....buy a new one and put the cracked one on ebay for half price
Thats OK said:

I remember seeing an Asus warranty card that says drop and spill over damage for the Asus TF700T, I have misplaced the card, is there any chance that Asus have that sort of warranty cover?
In the event that I cannot find a 3rd party who is willing to fix my tablet, I found a site: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Asus+Transformer+Infinity+TF+700+Teardown/10306/1 that shows how to teardown a TF700 tablet. I'm just throwing this out there just in case people need similar resources.
I broke my TF300 screen and the screen is cracked and unresponsive. I was wondering if there are any websites where I could mail my tablet in and get it repaired, or just take it into a store in NYC and get it repaired. I would use the ASUS service but they quoted me $250 and considering I bought the tablet for 300, its not worth it to me.

You don't think you're up to the task? Scores of amateurs have resorted to self-help and passed the test with flying colors. Ain't that hard, just some patience.
My N5 has a cracked screen (just the outer glass -- not the screen itself) and at my age I no longer have the eyesight, dexterity, or patience to do the repair myself. So I am looking at taking it to a repair shop and expect a sizable charge to replace the screen.
So if it's going to cost close to $200 for the repair, maybe I should just order a new one. Mine is a 32Gb, but I would be just as happy with a 16Gb model for $350 (I only got the 32Gb because that was what was still in stock on release day). I could then sell my cracked N5 to someone who could do the repair on the cheap and either have themselves a very nice phone or could resell it.
What could I get for a white 32Gb N5 with cracked front glass? $100? Maybe $150?
Searching around Ebay it looks like people are getting $150-180 for the 32GB model with a cracked screen. Just the screen seems to cost $130-$150, but I would take it to the repair shop and see what they would charge before making a decision.
What country are you in? Look for an LG repair store, they will do it for around $110 if I am not mistaking.

The only convenient repair shop wants $225, so I'll just go ahead and order a new one and then see what I can get for the cracked one.
Call LG I'm sure they will charge less than 200.
Supposedly lg charge 150 believe

Must be REALLY convenient.
With the price of the Nexus 5, I think the cost of the repair is almost pointless...
Even if you don't quite break even with selling the broken one on eBay, you'll have a brand new device with a full warranty and one that wasn't dropped, opened and reassembled. I think you've made the right choice!

Yeah, I didn't realize that having a phone with a cracked screen is actually considered "cool" in some circles, so the ones going on eBay will probably not be repaired. This will work out OK for me and I'll end up with a new phone as you said.
Repair it !!

Hey guys.
It started with a Basssound, and then my Pixel 3XL fell off the windowsill....
Today i reached out the repairingcompany from google CTDI in Germany.
I hope the repair will not that expensive. (Hoping for about 200 € without VAT)
Now i'm waiting for the UPS Service who will pick up my phone.
Sorry about your device, was it in a case?
Nope it wasn't.
It was my fault, after all, i should not lay down a phone on a sloping windowsill....

Google's recommended vendor says back glass repair is $100 USD (88€)
Screen repair is where the big money is.
A dbrand or slickwraps will cover that up just fine!
Edit: too bad the camera's broken... That's going to add to the $$$.

Oh 100$. I hope the price in europe is that cheap. Let's hope. Today i have still no message from ups.
I don't like covers, because they make phone big an hide the design from the phone itself. But of course i have then to watch for falling phones...
Actually the complete phone is working including the camera. It's just the broken camera glass that make photos look like from an 100$ Phone.
But i don't know if its from the drop or from december update, but there are lacks in the performance which is annoying at the moment. I will see after repairing if the problems are gone.
@MOD Is it possible to delete the strayed c in the title?

Ouch, those pictures literally made me say: "Ohhh, ouch!!" I'm sorry that happened to you... I am assuming you don't keep a case on it? After seeing lots of people complain about how easy it was to scratch the back up I decided to always keep mine in a case.
I wish you all the best and I hope it's not super expensive to get fixed.

I feel your pain...
Ordered mine on launch day and three days after having it I knocked it out of my hand, it was in a Spigen thin fit case which is really no protection. Completely my fault, I knew better than to hold it when I was doing what I was doing at the time.
Face first on a brick floor. Screen shattered, I'm glad I got the Preferred Care. $99.00 US and they shipped me a brand new one. At least I got to keep all the accessories from the first one and only had to send back the phone itself.

Nice! I always worry about being sent a refurbished device when they claim to send you a new one. I don't know if Google does that or not, but, I know other companies do and it's pretty frustrating. I have major OCD when it comes to new vs. not.
Good Luck!

I have a case now. And it fits in my reworked brodit auto smarrtphone holder i bought for nexus 6p
The repairing was okay so far. i contacted CTDI in germany which organized a ups pick up and the device was repaired in poland by regenersis. It costs 212,08 € without tax and with tax 260,86 € (23% in poland)
So, i hope it will not broken anymore...
