Factory Reset doesn't get me back to "Factory" - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For whatever reason, when I do a Factory Reset using Clockworkmod, it only takes me back to a ROM I had installed a while after I rooted the phone. How can I get all the way back to "rooted factory"

Flash sparksco ROM. He is the only one with a rooted bone stock GB ROM. It should be in ROM manager.
*wipe data/factory reset in recovery=worthless

[Q] Best way to downgrade from GB V2.0.2 to Infused V1.5.3?

I am on GTG's GB ROM V2.0.2 but want to go back to Froyo v1.5.3 as i am seeing some issues like phone freezing way too often. I had backed up V1.5.3 using ROM MANAGER. Can i just go to CWM and install v1.5.3 backup? OR do I need to go to stock ROM 1st? Any help is appreciated! Dont want to brick my infuse
For whatever reason my back ups did not work (i think it is a number of variables like pit this vs pit that and green vs red clockwork but didnt spend much time on it)
sooo.....i did the 1click back to stock.. Super 1click root basically staryed over...reinstalled recovery and then flashed my backup.
I am still playing with the whole "why cant i just restore a back up" but dont have much time this week to mess with that this week

The easiest way to backup using titanium backup, and then flash 1.5.3 using CWM and then factory reset using CWM. I have done this many times, and am willing to help you if you need.
THIS WILL DELETE YOUR DATA.

Just went back to Odin - Stock ( Root+3e), then installed V1.5.3, nothing was deleted from SD card... just the apps
Will now only upgrade to GB once ATT releases GB, had too many issues with Roger GB!

For some reason every time i try this it results in boot loops...
You have gone from gtgs gb build back to froyo many times?

You cannot restore a froyo backup from a gingerbread cwm recovery. You need to go to stock first using gtg's unbrick. Then I suggest after the first boot to do a factory reset from the settings within the phone not cwm. Then root and flash a froyo kernel using sgs kernel flasher from the market.
After that you can restore a backup with no problems.

That's exactly what I said above...but loglud is either misreading what the op is trying to do... or claims to be doing so from cwm...
Just realized tonight that if you use this file in this thread...you go back to ROOTED stock, with modded 3e recovery...takes a few steps out if you are just trying to get back to rooted stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
and use this file name he attached at the end of the post
UCKD5 Stock + Root + 3e Modded Recovery

That's right.. need to go stock.. this is what i did
-> From GTG's GB V2.0.2, went to stock ( root+3e recovery) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
-> Then install V1.5.3 froyo in CWM. Wipe data/factory reset for safe side. Just the Apps get deleted.. Data on Internal SD is not wiped.

I can confirm that this method works, I just did it......just follow gtg's instructions for performing a full installation if already running a custom rom.....be sure to do your backup first!

trying it now...I think the factory reset is the step I was missing
edit: indeed..that is the step I was missing
Thanks guys!
1. Back up current GB rom
2. Flash Froyo ROM
3. Factory Reset via CWM
4. Boot
5. Let system settle
6. Reboot into recovery
7. restore back up of said froyo rom
worked like a charm

[Q] Will a factory reset take my Xoom back to stock?

Will simply doing a factory reset take my Xoom back to stock (for the 4G upgrade) or will I have to go through the un-root and re-lock processes?
Unroot and unlock.

if you are running a custom rom, factory reset will only wipe all user data, bringing you back to the beginning of the rom (like booting the rom for the first time) do what the guy above me said to go back to stock

[Q] HTC evo 4g stuck in bootloop (I know)

Ok first of all, this is my dad's phone he wanted rooted with a custom ROM. I'm not new at all to flashing but I have the Droid X and Droid Bionic so I only know MOto. SO I performed the root (*****) and installed CM7 build on his Evo. A week later he was experiencing ploblems with gmail and GPS and not wanting to constantly hear complaining, I opted to install a new ROM that had an RC build . I chose Synergy with god mode (wanting to wipe it twice) and proceeded with the dalvik and cahce wipes only. I didn't format sys because the op didn't state that I had to.....well I left his house letting the ROM settle and now its in a bootloop. He's telling me via gtalk that it trys to come on but says "storage is full" and "android.acor" has stopped. Any solutions that I can give him to get him back up and running?
Did you nandroid...if so just restore that

You'll have to flash a new rom or restore a previous backup (if any was made).

How do I flash the new ROM? It's bootlooped and I have no idea how to get to his CWM recovery from a bootloop.

Turn off the device, hold down the volume button and then the power button.
make sure you follow the 3 main steps before flashing/ restoring any rom or backup
1. wipe data/factory reset
2. wipe cache
3. go to advance->wipe dalvik
then proceed, and even though your motorola, it's the same through out all the phones
(have a photon and an evo3d)

Want to go back

I recently updated my nexus S i9023 to 4.0.3 and dont like it, its very laggy! How do i go back to 2.3.6?
Restore a nandroid backup...
Choose a rom from here and flash. You'll probably want 2.3.6.

Before you revert to gb, you'll have to perform a full wipe, not just a factory reset. Open the Mounts menu in cwm, then format system, boot, data, and cache - then restore your backup or flash a different rom.
How do i do that?

I take it you're bootloader is not unlocked? You'll need to unlock your bootloader in order to flash a different (in this case older) rom.

[Q] Flash back to gingerbread custom rom from ics

I want to go back to gingerbread (nexus mod 4) can I just flash it using the instructions in the thread? Or do I have to go back to stock with Odin or something first?
Thanks
No need for odin imho
I did the same thing you did. To be ocd I reset user data (twice), cleared the davlik (twice), formatted the system (twice) in storage and mounts and then flashed the darkside superwipe (once). Then I flashed the Nexus rom (all in CWM)
