Has anyone managed to watch Sky Go on the Note using the latest app?
Nope.
At present it does not work on the Note, nor does it work on ICS which we should be getting soon, and apparently it will NEVER work on rooted devices.
Devs, please fix this useless app for us.
This is absolutely stupid from sky. Why cant this work on Sky note , when it can work on Galaxy and Galaxy S2 phones. Both have same operating system. I hope some dev will be able to fix this.

Vj
It works on jailbroken iphones and ipads, so why can't this work on a rooted android device. Arghhh

Give it time I'm sure the apk will work when released to a dev.
I remember they said the same about bbc iplayer and Itv player but both work just fine on my note.

It's already been cracked and working on the Nexus, but no love for the Note yet as far as I know. I am reading through the main thread now, if anyone gets hold of a working apk for a rooted Note, please link to it in here!

I don't know for Sky UK, but in Italy we prefer to read the subscription with a Linux based decoder called Dreambox.
You can buy it original or chinese clone (starting from £ 60.00...)
Way better features, streaming of ALL the Bouquets and ALL the channels (no Sky Go bunch of selected channels...).
In my case I use DreamDroid + VPlayer when in LAN and AndroidDreamer when outside under 3G Network!
Use RootKeeper, it disables(but backs up) root access, tested on my SGSII rooted using this method, and i'm able to play Sky Go.
Also hope this is adapted for Note use. why they have only developed it for so few devices is pointless.

I can confirm that Voodoo OTA RootKeeper does hide the root, I've tested this on my Note.
Does Sky Go work on the Galaxy Note though which is not one of the listed working devices?

Can confirm this works on my note with rootkeeper running.. unfortunately i cant log in though as i already have 2 devices connected to the account. Any idea on how i can get rid of one? Also i made up a new account but you only get the news with it as you dont have the relevant subscription.
Edit.. Just logged in to sky go on pc and removed one of two xboxes and now logged in on phone.. all channels im subscribed to are working

If you're a Bright House TV subscriber, you can now watch live TV at home on your Android device. This has been available on the iPad for a while now, and is available for iPhone now as well.
Problem is, it WILL NOT work if your device is rooted. And it says, "You can't use this application on a rooted device." (Or something along those lines)
I even tried Voodoo's temporary unroot with no success. Can the apk be modified to bypass the root check?

Hello there,
Can anybody restore my lost wifi tethering function? I have a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket on the ATT network (i727). I recently upgraded through Kies to the new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 from GB and lost my root. I rerooted with twrp 2.5.0.0. in odin and all went well. I then went to check on my wifi tether for root users app and it was a no-go. I have spent considerable time researching and have not been able to find any solutions. I updated the app to the most current, tried a hundred different configs in the settings. I have tried the Treve Mod for this app and have been able to create a connection, but no data flows. I would be very grateful if someone could enlighten me as to how achieve a working system. Sincere thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I upgraded to JB Deodexed, the phone is rooted, and I have Wifi Tether v3.3-pre2 installed. I've tried some of the different profiles, S2, SL, S3, Auto, and some launch with errors, while the ones that don't launch with errors turn on my WiFi and my phone connects to my router. I've been able to find some threads where people are getting it to work on the S3, but has anyone had luck with a Skyrocket?
I am having the same problem. I have tried a number of custom 4.2.2 roms, and almost 4 different versions of Wifi tether from 3.1 to v3.3 using every possible combination of settings to get wifi to work. So far, i am still out of luck. Has anyone been able to get a stable custom rom and wifi tethering to work on their phone yet for a rooted phone? How?

I thought I had it working with CM10.1. I think I just used Tethering from the Settings, not needing to install any add on app to accomplish WiFi Tethering. That being said, CM10.1 battery life and other little quirks and bugs sent me right back to the Stock Rom.

I went from Stock ICS (rooted, and WiFi Tether App worked) to CM10.1 (I believe I used CM's WiFi hotspot settings, or possibly WiFi Tether). I then went to the Deodexed Stock JB and rooted, and I can't get any WiFi tethering to work. I'm tempted to go back to Stock ICS.

I just installed Easy WiFi Tethering by BigWhitePlanet and it appears to be working. However, it is installing a bunch of junk, like Candy Crush Saga and is full of other ads and programs that seem to be installing themselves at their own will.

I was able to get it to work using the stock JB 4.1.2 upgrade. I used Wifi Tethering for Root. I too tried every combination and was so frustrated. I found the TrevE Mod version of Wifi Tethering and it works great!! The "trick" is to COMPLETELY delete any previous versions of Wifi Tether for Root before installing the TrevE Mod version. I'm to new to this forum and can't post any links here but just search this forum for TrevE Mod and you will find any entire thread complete with instructions. Works awesome!! Don't forget to give him some thanks and a little dough doesn't hurt either. Good luck

After changing from a stock rom I can not get wifi tether to work
Hello, I need some help please. I have just installed the slim bean rom on my samsung s3 from sprint. I have used wifi tether for years prior to this i only had one problem prior to when i changed phones. But i managed to get it working. But now i can not get it to work. I have went to the newest version to the 2.1, I can get to where it loads with no errors but it does not broadcast, I have tried installing different scripts, to see if it will work in the background but still no luck. I have read all the android websites with issues and i have tried every setting that has worked for others and i still can not get it to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated:confused

After reading about the Xposed framework I decided to write a module to bypass the validation checks for wifi tethering / mobile hotspot.
This method will allow you to bypass the validation without having to worry about moving around APKs, backing them up, setting permissions, etc. It also will no longer contact the actual servers used to verify if you have permission to use the tether.
This Xposed module works by replacing the list of entitlement apps available in the string array "config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" with an empty set. This means that the entitlement app is not run at all and defaults to the native tether immediately.
Works with VZW, AT&T, Sprint, DE and non-DE devices running 4.4 or above
Installing
Be rooted and have the Xposed framework installed
Search for and download "X Tether" under the download section of the Xposed installer
Activate the module in Xposed.
Reboot.
Tether away!
SPRINT ONLY: Change the line ro.mot.tether_dun_required=1 in your build.prop file to ro.mot.tether_dun_required=0
Link to Xposed repo
Just tested it on an AT&T Moto X running 4.4. Worked without any issues. Thanks.
Works great on Verizon Moto X Developer. Great work!
Okay so i tried this on Sprint Moto x, I can connect devices to the hotspot but I have no data connection on them. It isnt a issue on my phone, i can use lte on my phone perfectly.

With the way Xposed works you should only need to have WP turned off when you install Xposed itself. The Xposed modules (at least mine) don't modify any system files so there's no need to have WP off when running them.

The way this module works it only replaces the code that checks to see if you are allowed to tether. The actual hotspot functionality is not touched at all.
Are you on 4.4? Have you ever tried tethering before successfully?

Same here. Great work OP, I've removed all my tethering work-arounds in framework-res.apk and VzwEntitlementService.apk and restored the original files. This will make preparation for any future OTA updates a whole lot easier.

I wonder if anyone else on Sprint can chime in if they have the same problem.
The entitlement app just serves as a "yes/no" before the hotspot app runs. I decompiled Sprints entitlement app code and based on what I saw it should be working fine. Maybe Sprint is doing some extra work elsewhere that I don't take into account. I wish I had a Sprint device that I could try debugging this on.
Does this work for t-mobile?

Sorry, no T-Mobile uses a completely different method to determine if you have the ability to tether. It's possible to write a similar module like I did but without having access to a T-Mobile device I wont be able to do that.

No, I haven't, because I live in Europe and we have no tethering restrictions.
It should be safe, as you only need to modify/replace the build.prop, which can easily be reverted, if you back it up beforehand.
But I replied a bit hastily, I haven't read the thread carefully, you need to be rooted for doing that (or have unlocked bootloader with TWRP installed).
I don't know if there are any other methods, which doesn't require root.

I am currently not rooted. I don't think there is a great root option for the Droid Ultra on 4.4.4. I was hoping I didn't need root for the tether.
You can gain root, but not an unlocked bootloader (no custom roms/backups, etc). Once rooted, find and download the entitlement exploit to tether. I'm using it daily and it works fine.
