play store help! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

All day today I've been having trouble downloading apps. if I hot reboot or regular reboot, it'll let me download an app or two, then give me an "error processing purchase DF-BPA - 09" I'm on cleanrom 4.1 dev edition... And yes every time I flash I wipe everything, and I even as far as wiping cache, dalvick, and reset, reflash, wipe, flash clean mods and wipe to reboot. but this only started today. Any knowledge on this?

A Google search for your error message showed someone else who had this problem and fixed it by toggling Gmail sync off then back on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695519
Maybe give that a try

*SOLVED* "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server"

I've had issues with my phone where google services would eat up all my battery like 50%+.. To temp rid of this issue I would freeze google services, then when I wanted to check out the market I would have defrost services and update gmail info to use market. Now I get the issue stated above. Ive read of a youtube trick, but when I click "my channel" it says sign in and add account which sends me back to Add a Google Account.. Are my only options a hard reset?

Factory reset would be the way to go!
I backed up sd card and did a factory reset, when phone rebooted into recover it said E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl11. I restarted phone and same issue, not able to connect with market, yet file explorer was able to update by itself? Id like to try the youtube fix, but all i could find was the 2.4.4 version online and when I try to log on it sends me to sync.. Any other options? maybe hard reset??
Hmm.....I'd say GR then go from there.
I performed a one-click, had to download SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_1.5.4.0 after many failed attempts installing stock.. Then flashed vb-fb-build 3 twice consecutively and everything is much smoother Ive been flashing rom after rom etc etc.. So a clean install was good to do finally. Thanks for the help! If anyone has any questions feel free.

play store not connecting

This is driving me nuts! Every time I install a rom on my verizon gs3, the play store will not connect. It doesn't matter what rom I use. I have tried Hyperdrive, Synergy, Cleanrom, Goodness and I don't what others. It is all the same. Play store will not connect after install. Google now will also tell me that there is no connection as well. I currently run Beans 15 and play store works perfectly. But I like to try new roms and I can't because of this issue.Things I have tried:
When I go to install any rom i first go in to mounts in CWM and format cache, data, sdcard and system, then i wipe cache again from main page, then wipe dalvik and then hit factory reset. Probably overkill but I like to make sure nothing is left from previous installs.
After install I start by clearing cache and dalvik and fix permissions and factory reset
Cleared the host files in the /etc and /system/etc
Backed up google play services and the play store from my beans install, installed them on new rom with no luck
My time and date are correct
My location is correct
Happens no matter the kernel (stock, KT747, zeus)
I have removed accounts rebooted and readded
I have reset app setting in app manager
I have cleared cache and data and force stopped in everything that starts with google
In my last install of cleanrom 7, google now actually worked, but the play store would not and hangouts threw an error saying it couldn't find google.
My 3g/4g works perfectly fine as well as my wifi. I can browse the net, get my email in gmail, my contacts are there and my calendar items show up. Have I missed something somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am also runing the VRBMF1 firmware but was happening on MB1 as well. I would also note that everything else in all those roms runs perfectly.

Just says not connected or no connection with a retry button. Internet works fine though. Gets on with 3g/4g and wifi.

Have you tried just doing a basic wipe and install without all the other excessive stuff you keep doing? Optionally try clearing cache/data on Google Play and Google Frameworks. You shouldn't need to do all that stuff with permissions and copying files over.

. No no to basic wipe. Yes to cache and data stuff in google apps. And no i shouldn't have to copy stuff but it is what i have done to troubleshoot this issue
Are you restoring anything via TiB or doing anything outside of flashing, rebooting and then entering your google account info?

No. Restoring nothing. Don't even use TiB. I reinstall the long way. But yes flash, boot and follow setup.
Tried again today with the newest beanstalk rom and MOAR rom and got the same results. everything but the play store and google now works perfectly. All i did before installing both of these was to factory data reset, wipe cache and dalvik. No other fancy formatting. At a loss for what to try next.

Well so far so good. I flashed back VRBLK3 because that is what I had already downloaded and still didn't work. Even after all updates to VRBMF1. So I downloaded and Odin'd back to VRALG1 and the play store has worked all the way through latest updated. So that did it for anyone having the same issue. Odin back to VRALG1 and start over. Haven't installed a rom yet but am confident it will work. Will report back after I get one installed.
Edit: Well after flashing Hyperdrive 14 I am back in the no connection phase with the play store. Man this sucks.
That's really strange bro, as long as I Odin a factory rom, I can flash whatever and keep my connectivity. I'm currently on cleanrom 7. But as soon as I factory reset it won't connect

I think you may have hit it right there. I installed hyperdrive once and there was residual from stock. My weather widget wouldn't work correctly for one. So I did a factory reset and then reinstalled. Hyperdrive installed right and there was no residual from stock but play stopped working. So do you Odin back to stock every time you want to install a new ROM? Or how do you install to get rid of the previous ROM without losing connectivity?

No Phone App?

I just recently flashed 4.4 custom CM 11 ROM with a clean install, followed the instructions by updating the firmware, then flashing the ROM and GAPPS, then setting up the phone, then returning to recovery to flash the Kanged apps. There is no Phone app, though when I say "Ok, Google" and tell it to call a contact, it works, and asks what app to use by default (Phone, Skype). When the call began, no app opened, it was my home screen, though the call went through.
Is this a problem with the Kanged apps or what's up?
Edit: I just wiped cache and dalvik cache, re-flashed the PA Gapps [not the Kanged] and still no phone app. Can someone link me to the GApps they used that worked well? Maybe its just a faulty DL.

Click ROM Downloads, Using the 12/25/2013 (uploaded the 26th) one, as it was said to be the most stable. If you know of a more stable release (I'm looking for working bluetooth and gps, messages and phone) let me know. I'll edit this after checking the system folder.
Edit: Under system/app/ there is a "TelephonyProvider.apk" that has the same picture the Phone App would have. Trying to open it prompts me with installing an update, titled "Phone/Messaging Storage". Attempting to install it gives no results, and just says it wasn't installed.

Ok, downloading the stuff now. While it downloads, where is the option to wipe system in CWM Touch? Yeah, it had been stuck and I actually failed to wipe system the first time. Did it this time around, and its booted up, with a phone app! The question I have for you now: Is flashing the "Kanged" apps worth it? What does it add? What does it break? I've seen some posts claiming it breaks things, I've seen others saying it works fine. What's your experience with it? Other than that, thanks a ton! Can't wait to get this buddy settled in!

The Kanged gapp is fine, but the newer version, for some reasons it's not working well with some of the app. The one I gave you is pretty much ok with most of the rom. At the end they should be all the same function and the question is which one will work with most of the rom. There is no advantage from one to the others.

Quick question; do you know how to change what the icons on the lock screen redirect too? For example, making the music icon open Google Play Music, not Apollo, or the messages icon opening Hangouts, not Messages.

OK, I'm not on the rom that you're using, but if I remember correctly, it should be in settings->security-> slider targets and shortcuts -> enable the Eight slider targets then tab on slider targets, you will see the lock on your screen, hold down on the lock and slide to any position on the circle, an app menu should popup, here you can select what app you want to launch for the position. Repeat the same for other positions. You have up to 7 apps to launch from the lock screen, the last one is to unlock.

[Q] Play Store crashes when updating multiple apps

Hi, I have a Nexus 5, completely stock 4.4.2, never tampered
Whenever there are multiple updates in the Play Store and I press "Update", the first app updates, then the second one starts downloading,
but the download hangs at some point, then after a few seconds the entire Play Store app closes without any message.
After that I can open the Play Store again and try to update the apps, but they only update one at a time, because on the second update it always crashes.
All the Google apps are at the latest versions, Play Store has version 4.6.17. This is happening for a while now, but I can't pinpoint it to a certain version of the Play Store app, but in the past I did not have this problem.
I've tried restarting the device, clearing data and cache for the Play Store app, clearing the cached data for the entire system, even switching the runtime (btw the problem is happening on both Dalvik and ART), but nothing helped. I also have enough Available space: 4 GB as reported in Settings/Storage.
On my wife's Nexus 4, also completely stock and with updated Google apps, the problem it's not happening, so it's not something in my environment.
Did anyone else have this problem? I searched the forums but found nothing relevant.
Any advice?
Thank you.

Hi
I have the exact same problem on my galaxy note 3 so nothing to add except that I tried a little trick that allows it to finish the updates without having to restart the store. I close it immediately after the batch download starts and then it continues updating in the background. it works most of the times but not always. I really wish someone had a solution to this problem.

Yes, I cleared cache and Dalvik from custom recovery. I did a lot of searching on google and XDA and I followed all the guides, including uninstalling play store updates, clear data and cache from apps manager for play store and also Google services framework and download manager but no improvement

Are you rooted? What custom recovery are you using? I myself am all stock, never rooted or anything.
And how long does it take to clear the cache from recovery? On my Nexus 5 with stock recovery it takes very long, around 5 or 10 minutes the first time I do it in succession, but it finishes succesfully. If I repeat the clearing of cache without rebooting then it takes a few seconds, like normal.
I read somewhere that it might be an issue with errors on the cache partition and that reformatting this partition might solve it, but I cannot do it from the stock recovery. Maybe if you have the option of reformatting the /cache partition in your custom recovery you should try it.
Another thing that you can do is try to catch the errors with logcat, if you have root you can use an app, I used adb to save a logcat and found some error messages related to the installing of apps but could not find how to solve them. I will post the logcat later.
If you can get a logcat maybe you can post it and we will compare the errors.

Yes I am rooted using CWM Based Recovery 6.0.4.7 with SuperSU 1.94 and BusyBox 1.22.1-Stericson on stock Samsung firmware Android 4.4.2 NB4 unbranded
clearing the cache from CWM recovery only takes a few seconds in my case. I did not try reformatting or anything else because I don't want to risk bricking it.

I have the same issue. Stock rooted...
I don't have a nexus but I was using a google edition ported ROM for my HTC One and was having the same issue drive me nuts. I flashed the stock sense ROM back and the store works fine now. It seems like this problem is google edition devices/OS. I never found a fix though, except to enable automatic updating so it happens in the background. That worked for me
indeed the updates work fine in the background but I would really like to know what causes this issue
Those having this problem can you guys make sure you have the latest Google Play build? Latest is 4.8.20. Go to your play store, go to play store settings and at the bottom it should say 4.8.20. If your version is earlier than that, tap the build version and it should say there's a newer version and that it's installing. At that point, exit from the play store app, and give it a minute or two. Enter back into the play store app, and you repeat the steps to see that you have upgraded your play store build.

Yes, the Play Store app is updated to the latest version. Now I already got the 4.4.3 update, but the issue is still appearing, but not everytime. I think it depends on the sizes of the updating apps, it might be something related to the cache partition. Can you guys try and clear the cache from the recovery and see how much it lasts? For me it lasts more than 5 minutes and it doesn't seem normal.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I had the same issue on my S4. After the play store closed about 5 times today when updating apps I decided to Google it. I found someone with a similar issue, and their fix was to enable the Download Manager app, that had somehow been disabled. Mine was already enabled, but I cleared the cache from that app, and then I was able to update my remaining 5 or so apps with no crashes.
I'm not sure how permanent of a fix it is, but it's working so far. Don't know if I'll have to clear it again later or not.

[Q] TWRP broke app installation

Everytime I wipe cache and Dalvik cache, after reboot, the android is upgrading progress is almost immediate, then I get "Unfortunately, Update Device has stopped".
So I restored a backup from a week ago. Now, none of my play store apps will update. Tried to install a new app still no luck. Tried installing an apk also no luck.
Any suggestions?
