Got Some Questions Before I Switch... - HTC One S

I'm an owner of a T-Mobile SG2 and im really getting fed up with Samsung caving into Apple's demands. Im considering switching to HTC, which i had a G2 before I went with Samsung.
Last month prior to the ICS update Samsung released a "maintenance update" on my sgs2 which the 1st thing i noticed was they taken away my scrolling wallpaper. They also did a few other adjustments, but Im a very visual kinda guy, which i didn't like the idea they took that away. I thought ill get it back on the official ICS update - WHICH IT DIDN'T!
I was thinking about upgrading to a newer phone. Either the HTC 1s or SGS3.
1) Do you guys have scrolling wallpaper?
2) Do you guys have global search?
3) Can you access this web page from your "stock" browser?
https://members.premiereinteractive...et=http://www.coasttocoastam.com/member/auth/
Finding out, the real reason why the Galaxy series phones don't have scrolling wallpaper is because of Apple which the iphones have scrolling wallpaper. Then they taken away global search is another nail in their coffin.
Anyone that can answer these questions, please respond.

Global search is where on the Google search widget, if you begin to start typing somebody's name, it will query your phone first (contacts) then the internet. If you begin to type the name of an app, it will show you results from your phone then the internet.
Please tell me you guys can still do this?

Samsung financially is in bed with Apple. They are in contract with them om making computer parts (screens, hardware etc.) about 4 million dollars per month. So when Apple started to complain, Samsung didn't want to loose their contract with Apple.
By your answers so far, HTC still has these core functions that Sammy has already taken away from their high end phones.

WTF are you talking about? Stock iPhones don't have scrolling wallpapers, there's a jailbreak tweak but no official features.
Go check in your settings or change for another launcher but don't blame Apple for everything...

I don't blame apple for everything, except for them pressuring companies like Samsung to take core services away like global search. i can blame apple for That! i may have been wrong with the scrolling wallpaper, but not for the other... thank you.

I'm in the One S forum, which the HTC brand android phones still have global search. This is awesome news, because Just this last week, Samsung has been rolling out an update to all their top-shelf phones (SGS3s) that strips away that global search mechanism that we're use to.
However, the HTC line has yet been untouched.
As far as the scrolling wallpaper, i couldn't figure out why for all of the sudden, just weeks prior to the ICS update, Samsung stripped all their phones (SGS2s & SGS3) using TouchWIZ (Samsung's very own launcher) the scrolling wallpaper.
Im looking forward to diving back into HTC and leaving Samsung behind.

Patent trolling is the new way to fight competitors nowadays, it's not just Apple, everyone does it. -_-

TMO is going to switch out my device...switch or stay?

I qualify for their "multiple problem" deal where since they keep sending out replacement devices and I still have issues, they asked me if I wanted to upgrade.
I understand, there is a lot of bias here, but I'm hoping to get some of you who aren't biased. Do I want to keep trying with the G2X (I already have 2.3.3 for those making that pitch, I updated already...don't care for some things), get the Sensation, the MyTouch/MyTouch Slide or other option maybe?
I am quite happy with my g2x but if you aren't due to issues then try the sensation. No phone is perfect, my wife has sensation and quite happy with it. I hate sense but it does have a great camera and a larger qhd screen.

just use the sense4 theme on an aosp rom, it gets you the look. Most don't miss the functionality. Huge app previews on app switcher? There's mods around to do that. Lock screen copycats are available on apps as well. Can't think of anything else to miss.

I always liked Sense, but it has too much UI lag for me. But we'll never see that on a non HTC phone now, way too much work, too complicated, and to most devs that could do it, not worth the effort

I like Sense better in regards to "out of the box", however, until HTC starts putting decent sized (removable) batteries on their Verizon phones..... Well, I now own a Samsung.
Now that I took the leap to root and customize it a bit more, I may change my mind about which I prefer later. I'm not a fan of "stock Android", but Touchwiz seems to offer a little bit of both worlds.

Yea, but if you read at the bottom, tmo one s won't get it with the rest, it's bad enough having to wait on manufacturers to work the new version into their skin that they just haaave to have, but we also have to wait on the carrier to approve and add their extra layer of crap. You do have a choice.... its called get a Nexus!!! HTC/Samsung/Motorola/etc, always have, and always will add a skin to their phones. It's one of the reasons I bought my One S... For Sense!!!!! I never understood why people complain and ask companies to remove the one feature they add that is PURPOSELY added to help differentiate their phones from all the rest.
I prefer vanilla over sense. I bought the One S because of the excellent hardware, not because of sense. Still I would say that sense is better than vanilla for beginners. Some reasons:
1. Labels under every button so its behavior is clear. In some Google apps, for example Gmail, there are lots of buttons without labels and its not always clear what they do. Yes, I know I can long press to get description, but not everyone does.
2. More functionality included without third party apps. Why hasn't Google included something as basic as stopwatch in their clock app?
Theres probably more, but this is what I could think of now

yep.. 5 years ago, "porting" these features to phones they didn't belong on made sense. people spent a lot of time doing it. but now that most carriers are saturated with Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, basically you name it and that's not even to mention unlocked devices, it does seem like an oddity and a complete waste of time

AS HTC has not comparable chipset to the Nexus5 and Kitkat is new on the HTC One, That makes it harder to port it.
Also it seems like there's not interest to work on that.

I get it, just because something is hard doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.
There are some neat manufacturer features which would make our phones better, example Wifi Calling.
The code for that has been released for a long time yet it's not something google wants to approach.
Nexus 5 isn't pure android it's pure Google with it's own custom launcher so with that why not add some other neat features and launchers why let google control what this phone should be?
This phone was made to be a developer phone so why not develop it to it's fullest potential I'm running a rom based off Nexus 7 KVT49L that's loaded with features. It's not from this site and when someone mentioned this rom the post was deleted. That just seems closed minded and hinders development in my opinion. Luckily I saw the post and checked out the rom.
Think how pissed the manufacturers would be if all their cool features could be incorporated on one phone.
One last thing just because someone has a different opinion than yours doesn't make it wrong.
Peace
