[Q] So, I'm an idiot (Baseband help needed, I think) - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my friend (lives in Canada) has an Optimus One one a plan with Koodo. I walked her through installing CyanogenMod 7.1 or whatever the latest was. You know, unlock bootloader, root phone, and get Clockwork Mod to do all the hard work. I... may have skipped over the backing up part. See, I thought you know, her phone got wiped on bootloader anyway, so why backup? Yeah, idiot
So now she can't make calls, send text messages or anything. So I can only assume it's a baseband issue. But, that's where I'm stuck. After reading, some people suggest mik's mod, or something, others give a download to a backup for an Indian ROM. One flow chart suggested installing the baseband from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530 which looks useful. Except... which one do I use? And will it work on Canadian company Koodo? Will the Indian ROM work with Canadian Basebands?
Please, help would be so greatly appreciated

Hey man, so basically you were right, it's a baseband issue.
Flash version 20g/i/h whatever, I don't remember what letter but it doesn't matter.
Just follow the guide to the letter and it will work fine
Cheers mate!

You're on the right track, use the file attached to that post titled "P500-v20G-baseband.7z" (use 7-Zip/WinRAR/etc to extract).
Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY. Do NOT unplug your phone until it tells you it's completely done, and don't delete the backup it makes! I got lucky the first time I flashed, I thought it had lost communication and had unplugged my phone, but luckily it hadn't started the wipe yet and I was able to recover it.

Don't worry, you're doing the right thing. Remember to follow every single step (double check twice), and DO NOT UNPLUG THE USB, until it tells you to, as they have said above. Also to add, I have a Canadian Koodo O1, and I'm 200% that you won't have any problems whatsoever installing anything on this forum, whether it's an Indian based ROM, Chinese based, etc. Have fun modding!

[Q] Skyrocket on Simple Mobile (tmobile) - Brain is fried

Alright, so i am having a bit of an issue. And it's probably because i'm a complete noob....
So, I have a new GS3, and wanted to give my (already rooted and flashed with Cyanogenmod 10) Skyrocket to my mom to use on Simple mobile (a company using T-mobile's towers).
I read that you can flash radios for T-mobile onto the phone, and so I figured everything would work.
Here is what I did.
I unlocked the phone while in Cyanogenmod10
Flashed LiquidSmooth RC9 - read it had less bugs
tried flashing multiple Tmobile Radios
I get NO service. I cant pick any of them up..
Baseband comes up as UNKNOWN...
So i'm currently downloading ODIN and going to try to flash to stock and just start from scratch...
Any suggestions on what to do?
Do you still have an imei?
Try unlocking the phone after you've gone back to stock. I don't know how you did it with cm10. I don't think it works with anything but stock.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I957 using xda app-developers app
No, the IMEI is blank when i do the *#06# code....
also, when i put the simple mobile sim in the phone, it automatically came up asking for the network unlock code. That's how i was able to unlock it.
Did you ever backup your imei? Flashing back to stock will hopefully bring it back if not you may have some issues. Also as mentioned above it's better to unlock from a stock ROM or at least stock based.
Alright, Flashed to stock, IMEI is back (thank god), and i'm getting service.
Now here are the issues ahead of me, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am on STOCK ATT ICS Rom.
I GET SERVICE (however, it's only 2g) i know i need to flash the radios for Tmobile,
Was going to use this ---> Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD ...... Direct DL, CAN BE USED FOR T-MOBILE/WIND ON ICS (from the skyrocket reference thread)
First i know i have to root, install CWM, all that.
Now, should i flash a custom rom? If so, which one would you suggest. ( i assume, i have to give her ICS, not JB, right?)
Also, you said backup my IMEI, i'll look this up in the meantime, but if you could include a link in your post on a how-to just in case i dont find it, i would really appreciate it.
Also, is there anything else i should do to get this working properly?
thank you very much for all your help.

Custom ROM is your choice. There are a lot of JB ROMS that are pretty stable. Also a new stock JB leak in the dev section. As far as backing up your imei. You'll need to root first as soon as you do get a file explorer and copy the whole EFS folder to your external SDcard. Then also copy it to your computer. The imei is held within the EFS folder. From now on do this as soon as you root BEFORE you flash anything. lol

Thank you very much! I'll start rooting now and back it up immediately. I would love to give her a JB rom, mainly for google now. However, that radio is for ICS. Is that going to cause a problem? or will it even work on JB?
I've been on JB for months using an ICS radio. I'm on ATT so I can't say for certain but it shouldn't be an issue. Just go to the DEV thread and spend a few hours reading up on what's available. Like I said most of the ROMs are pretty stable at this point.
FYI, on skyrocket the IMEI is stored in mmcblk0p18 and mmcblk0p19, not /efs partition. Might really want to back those up, especially before attempting a usb unlock. The /efs only really stores exports of certain properties from mmcblk0p18.

Thanks for the heads up. lol I thought for sure they'd be stored in the same place they where for my SGS4G. So what is stored in the imei folder in EFS then?

[HELP] Unknown IMEI

I know there's another thread of mine with the same problem. But no one has helped me yet. I have a lg optimus one for a long time, I installed cm10.1 about 5-6 months ago, I didnt backup anything when I installed custom rom. I factory reset everything on it so I could give it to someone. But now, when I turn it on, checked the about phone. There is no IMEI. I need help from step to step. I dont wanna brick it. I want it back to stock rom 2.2 froyo. And I have been reading threads about people bricking their phone with kdz(dont know what it is). I'm a newb. I live in U.S

If this mysteriously happened then your SIM card is probably toast. Can you boot into recovery? Have you tried another ROM?
same happend to me, i root the phone and install recovery, an on every single rom i had flashed i didn't had any connection, and there was no IMEI number

If it killed the SIM - try another one - that would quickly prove that theory (although I don't know if I would risk a SIM from an active phone, but if you know anyone who has a phone that died or if you are lucky and can get 10$ SIM cards for pay as you go with no activation fee - it's a cheap way to test and gives you a spare SIM if you ever need it...assuming you have unlocked as well as rooted your phone).
Sounds more like you installed a rom with an incompatible base band if you have no connectivity to your carrier anymore. If you flashed straight to an ICS or JB rom without either upgrading it through the LG app or manually flashing at the time - try it now. (it's not going to hurt it more than it already is, and these phones are tough)
And with my first post I am starting to realize how much I have been digging into what could go wrong so it doesn't go wrong before I tried anything. However if I am wrong, please let me know!!

[Resolved] [Resolved] Blu Life Play Sim not Recognized

Hi.
I recently flashed the iNfinity HD V2 rom on my Blu Life Play.
Since then I have not been able to get my sim to be recognize in the sim 2 slot.
It worked before I flashed the rom and I'm at a loss as how to resolve the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert on this, but here is my guess.
There are 2 versions of the Blu Life Play. One of which supports 850/1900 3G bands, the other working with 850/2100. Both of these versions of your phone have 2 sim card slots. My guess would be (and odds are I am not right) is that you flashed the ROM corresponding to the opposite version of the Life Play that you have, and that caused some sort of issue. Like if you had the L100a, you might have accidentally flashed the L100i ROM, or the other way around.
Check the thread or page that you got the ROM from. That 2nd SIM card slot issue might be a known issue. Usually ROM developers will post a "What's Working" and "What's Not Working" section on the thread or page they made for their ROM. Check to see if the SIM card issue is in the "What's Not Working" section.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.
That could be a possibility.
I have gone through the thread and I don't see anything specific to my problem but something similar.
I should I have been more vigilant before I flashed.

If it is really necessary that you have the 2nd SIM card slot, just go back to the stock version of Android that came with your phone, and then from there try to get another ROM. That way, even if you are unable to find another ROM that doesn't have the 2nd SIM card issue, at least you will be running a version of Android that does support it.

My main issue at the moment is actually getting the phone back to stock; every time I flash it there seems to be remnants of the old rom.
I cant' seem to get it back to stock.
I managed to get the phone back to stock including the recovery.
I still can't get the phone to recognize the sim.
After reading some threads here I think I flashed a rom for L100i instead of L100a.
I think the problem is to do with the modem.
Can anyone help me please?
I think I have the problem narrowed down to not having a IMEI number.
I have no back up of it.
Is there any way I can get a the IMEI back on my phone?
Phone is no longer rooted and having trouble rooting again.

If all you did was restore a recovery-made-backup, I don't think that will restore original baseband and stuff. If this is how you got back to stock, that means that although you are running stock BLU-Android, you are still using the broken L100i incompatible baseband.
I am not sure if this phone is compatible with ODIN, but if it is and you can find a tutorial on how to restore your L100a back to stock with ODIN then this is what you want. I am not sure what ODIN stands for, but it's a download tool used for not only restoring a phone's android operating system back to stock, but the other things that a plain old recovery-backup doesn't cover like kernel and baseband. ODIN requires a Windows PC with the correct phone drivers installed. So in this case you need the your phone's drivers from BLU on your computer, so that when you plug the phone in it is recognized as a BLU Life. Again, I am not sure if there even is an ODIN image for your phone since generally BLU phones are not that popular on XDA, but if there is then follow the instructions and use that to restore back to stock instead of just using a recovery backup.
IF YOU DO FIND AN ODIN IMAGE FOR IT, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE OF INSTALLING THE "I" VERSION INSTEAD OF THE "A" VERSION! MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT THE ODIN IMAGE IS THE EXACT ONE FOR YOUR PHONE!!!!
EDIT: I just re-read your post and realized I didn't exactly answer your question. Sorry about that.
You should do the ODIN thing I mentioned above, just to make sure that you are on the right baseband. However I do not think this restores your IMEI as well. I Google'd how to restore a lost IMEI on an Android phone and got a couple articles on how to do so. One of these articles tells that CHANGING THE IMEI OF YOUR PHONE IS ILLEGAL!!!!! However It doesn't sound like this applies to you according to what you said, because you are only trying to restore a lost IMEI number, not change an already existing one.
Have a look at this article.
Good luck! :cyclops:

All I'm trying to do is get the IMEI that came with the phone back on it; nothing illegal.
Mobile ODIN is not compatible with my device.
I would like to get back to full stock; can anyone help with that please?
I have seen that SpFlashtool might be useful for me.
The only problem is is that I have no experience with it.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to use it safely?
I'm not sure if people have any interest in this, but I think I have have the problem resolved.
I flashed octarom_kk_iq4410_v3_fixed which seem to give me a baseband then I used SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1328.0.183 to flash a secro.img.
after all that my imei's were restored.

Purchased a galaxy s3 for straight talk with cyanogenmod on it.

I bought a galaxy s3 for straighttalk from some one cuz it was really cheap. I want to remove cyanogenmod from it because the camera doesn't work and I can't save pictures. They didn't back up though so when I factory reset it, it brings it right back to cyanogenmod. How do I get the original OS for the s3 back on it? Im new to this kind of stuff so I didn't even know where to look on the forums here. And the person I bought it from is no help, I think they didn't even know how they really did it. Can some one help me or point me in the right direction please?
Sincerely,

I need to know if you have the Sprint version (S960L) or the Verizon version (S968C). Most likely you have the S968C.
When you tell me your device model number, I can link you to your firmware and you can flash that via Odin.

If you want to flash the stock firmware, you will need to go to Sammobile.com and enter your model number in the search feature there. It will lead you to your firmware, download it on PC.
Make sure you have installed "USB drivers for Samsung phones", you can find them with a Google search, or if you already have Kies installed then you've got the drivers.
On the device, go to system settings>developer options(if you don't see this in settings, you need to go to the "About Phone" option, scroll down to the "Build Number" and tap it at least 7 times to enable Developer Options). In developer options, turn on "USB debugging".
Charge your battery to at least 75%.
Once charged, press and hold the volume down+home+power buttons, at the caution screen, press up to enter download mode.
Open Odin(make sure Kies is closed and isn't running in the background, it interferes with Odin), connect the device to PC with device in download mode. If the device is recognized, you'll get a colored COMM# box. If you don't have that, try a different USB port, make sure your cable is the stock cable.
In Odin, select the AP or PDA button(older Odin has PDA button, newer Odin has AP button). Go to where you downloaded and stored the firmware on your PC, select it.
When you get back to the Odin screen, make sure the only options that are checked are auto reboot and F. reset time.
Click start, when it is done, you will get a green PASS! and the device will reboot, go through setup wizard and enjoy your device.
you are the true MVP of the internet tonight! thanks so much for breaking it down for me haha ive asked all over, here and reddit and few other sites, no one would help me like that! the download for the firmware is going to be an hour from sammobile since im not paying for membership haha but i have work in the morning so ill let it run while i sleep, and do everything in the morning. ill post here tomorrow either in the morning or at night after work and let you know how it went! once again thanks again!

Try booting to stock recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache partition in recovery then reboot.

The ROMs were actually built for the Verizon S3(SCH-I535), they are 4G devices, this makes them require a SIM card to regulate the 4G data they use, this makes our device require a CDMA LTE SIM(Verizon 4G LTE SIM or Straight Talk CDMA LTE SIM from the BYOP kit, the LTE version, not the GSM AT&T/T-Mobile kit). I'm actually the one that figured out that a SIM was needed for the ROMs to work. I can explain in detail, but I'll keep it short instead.
Even though our device is 3G and doesn't require a SIM under normal circumstances, with the SIM inserted in our device with those ROMs, we then have working mobile data and MMS, sometimes it requires setting APNs in the ROM along with using the SIM to get stock MMS working, otherwise, MMS would only work when using a 3RD party app for MMS.
A lot of people bricked this device trying to figure out why mobile data wasn't working before I discovered this SIM dependency. I've actually worked with a few developers trying to remove the SIM dependency so our device could use the ROMs without a SIM but nothing works, anything done to remove the dependency, kills all chances of connectivity, even call and text. I also helped with creating the first and only TWRP custom recovery specifically compiled for our d2tfnvzw(Tracfone on Verizon network Straight Talk S3) device. The other recoveries are actually d2vzw(Verizon Wireless S3) but they work on our device also, just not specifically.
The Straight Talk S3 can use the Verizon recoveries and ROMs because it is actually a rebranded Verizon S3(SCH-I535) and actually has the I535 model number stamped on our motherboards and other hardware inside our device, the only difference is that the 4G capability was disabled in the radio(no, using the 4G SIM will not give you 4G data). It is not "similar" to the Verizon S3, it IS the Verizon S3 modified for Straight Talk.
I can actually get you set up with some very good 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROMs packed with features including working camera(we have marshmallow but front camera isn't working, that is always an issue with new ROMs because stock camera is closed source software, developers are not allowed to use it, they have to piece the coding together from scratch so it takes a while to fix), if you can get a used, previously activated Verizon 4G SIM($3-5 on eBay, used SIMs are better than new SIMs, new SIM gives aggravating issues) or Straight Talk BYOP LTE SIM. The ROMs are MUCH better than the stock JB 4.1.2 firmware. Let me know and I can get you setup and you won't even need the PC to do any of it. It can all be done with apps and your mobile browser. Using WiFi to download on the device instead of mobile data to download the ROM files you'll need, the apps that will flash the files you need are very simple to use. After the files are downloaded all you need is a click here and a click there and about 30 minutes of time and you'll be running something much better than stock with everything working as it should.
I have a guide posted here for flashing CM/CM based ROMs on our device and how to set up SIM and APNs, along with precautionary steps for your protection and troubleshooting steps for data issues after flashing the ROM and how to restore data connectivity if you do something wrong along the way.
If you do a google search using our model number, you'll find stuff everywhere that I have posted about this model number.
wow thats impressive stuff! i wish i could learn to do all that haha. I would love a working ROM on my s3 though, touch whiz is lame! i wont be able to buy the card till tomorrow because i dont have a card right now because i just moved to CT and had a bank that was only in TX and havent opened anything here yet, so ill have to give the cash to a buddy and have him order with his. I actually did the BYOP to straight talk as well when i couldnt use my s3 and i bought my friends s5, it had at&t, and thats where my straight talk service is on right now.. You have ROMs that would run on that by chance? Either one of them would be fun, I dont mind toying with the s3 a bit more though since its basically my side phone incase something happens with my s5.

The ST S5 is the Verizon S5 developer edition, the same as the ST S3 is the Verizon S3, the ST S5 is a Verizon rebrand also. Fortunately since it's a developer edition, that means it has an unlocked bootloader so that means you can safely flash the device with custom ROMs if there are any for the Verizon S5, I haven't looked but I'm sure it has ROMs(the other Verizon devices have locked bootloader and they will NEVER be able use anything but stock and modified stock ROMs, they can't use true custom ROMs like Cyanogen because it hard bricks the device because of the locked bootloader).

Sorry, I misunderstood you, if your S5 came from AT&T then it is AT&T. I was saying that the Straight Talk version of the S5 is a Verizon S5 dev edition. AT&T is not. It will need to use the AT&T S5 ROMs if any exist.
There are a plethora of ROMs for the S3, they are all different so you'll have to check them out for yourself. OctOS 5.1.1 is my favorite and is the most stable and has everything working including front camera. I will have to link you to my copy of it though because it is no longer available for download on XDA. I'm using OctOS marshmallow right now but front camera isn't working yet.
To find the other ROMs, view this forum in a PC or mobile browser, find the Compact tab, click it, then find the Verizon SIII on the list, click it and it will take you to the Verizon S3 forum, then you'll see an Original Android Development and an Android Development subforum there. The ROMs can be found in threads in those two forums, use ONLY the ROMs that specifically say "d2vzw" in their names, do not use anything that says stock or TW or anything that mentions locked bootloader, modem, firmware, Safestrap recovery or Fashfire, that stuff is specifically for the Verizon S3 ONLY and will brick your device, read the threads, the first post in each ROM thread will list the ROM features and instructions for flashing(ignore these instructions and use the ones I link you to instead), but you'll need to be rooted and have custom recovery installed(my guide will explain how to get custom recovery).
Install the Towelroot app on your device, open it, tap the "make it rain" button and you'll be rooted.
Then go to Playstore and install SuperSU, open it to update the binaries.
Then, once you've found the ROM you want and its' compatible Gapps package(Google apps, the thread should mention which one you need), download them and put them both on extsdcard.
Then follow this thread to get a custom recovery installed, flash the ROM and Gapps and setup SIM/APNs. It is a very long guide but it is detailed step by step as simple as I could make it. Pay attention to the warnings and do the things I listed as safety measures for future reference.

Cool, just don't forget to use Towelroot or Cydia Impactor to root the S3 then install SuperSU, that must be done before you do anything else.
Let me know if you need anything.

Just rooted and downloaded supersu, I tried to pm you but its saying you aren't accepting them. I have one last question before I head to bed. I just realised, I can still flash a rom in here without the 4g sim still just won't have service, is that correct?

Sorry, I forgot that I blocked messages from the public because I was getting too many people asking for help. I have it set to only allow friends and forum administrators. Oops!!
There are older builds of Kit Kat 4.4.4 that can be flashed without SIM and everything works, but they probably aren't available for download anymore.
Yes, you can flash the ROMs just fine, you'll still have call and text, you'll just need to put the SIM in when you get it and reboot the device then set up the SIM and APNs like my guide says and then reboot again and you should be good to go, make sure you backup your IMEI(NVdata backup) like the guide says also, then be careful when you flash. If you flash and you lose all service including calling then don't do anything until you get in touch with me, if you make the wrong move from there, you'll make a mess that will be difficult to fix.

In some real trouble, help please (G4 H810)

Hey, I am not sure if I am posting at the right place or should I create a new thread or not, really sorry if I am doing anything wrong, but I am in some real trouble here. I have At&t g4, it was on h81010g stock firmware version, it was working great and I was loving it but I wanted to update it to android 6, so I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g4/general/lg-g4-h810-upgrade-to-android-6-0-t3323995 to update my version from 10g to 10o and then finally to android 6, 20o, (by the way its a great guide), everything worked fine but I have no signals, I tried to reset the phone and tried a few other things like hidden menu, airplane mode but nothing works,
I couldn't get the signals and shows a small cross above the signal bars, After that I used the LG UP tool to downgrade it to h81010o but still the same, I think my region don't have the upgrades further than h81010g or whatever the reason, I can't find the H81010g stock firmware anywhere, can anyone please share the original h81010g tot or KDZ file with me,
so I can get my phone back in a working state? a question for senior devs, bro if I can't get a h81010g file, what are my options then, any kind of help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks...

There's no other firmwares other than one ones I uploaded in my guide other than 21y which I'll upload in a few hours which was recently leaked (which is a shocker ). Also remember you MUST be on AT&T for OTA updates to work so that might explain why you cannot update via the phone.
I can't speak for that guide and not having service as I've never used it, you did perform a factory reset after doing that correct?
Did you attempt to try another SIM card in the device? And did you remove and reinsert the sim?
