Hi all,
My unlocked T-mobile (germany) One S suddently had his vibration motor stopping to work...
It will work a bit if I shake the phone a bit but after few vibrations it stops again.
Anyone has the same issue?
I did root or changed rom\kernel, and I highly doubt it is a SW issue.
I contacted HTC, we'll see how it goes
Nope, try downloading a vibrator app and see if you can kick it back to life using that + tapping the corners of the device.

A while ago I've been missing a lot of calls when my phone is on vibrate mode. A month ago, after the Mexican Jelly Bean rollout I noticed the phone wasn't able to vibrate anymore; Today I did a Hard Reset and the phone is still not vibrating.
I noticed that gently hitting the phone on the back restores vibration for 50 seconds, after moving the cellphone from the hit position the vibration motor stops wroking again.
Does anyone has had the same issue?
If you have, did Motorola Waranty service was ok with it?

I've been having the same problem for the past week its driving me crazy. Anyone found a solution? I think the vibrate motor is getting stuck or something. Anyone know if I could buy one online and repair myself with the tear apart guides?
the most common problem is the motor is failing or the weight on the shaft of the motor has come loose or fallen off all together.
opening the phone to investigate is the only way to determine which has happened.
either issue should be covered under warranty.

after he opens the phone its in the upper left hand corner under the motherboard.
I just got my phone back from LG for a broken screen repair and now I am having another issue. When I received the phone I also updated to 4.4.4 so I do not know if its the update or the repair. When I use the camera app the phone starts to vibrate as it tries to focus. If i take a far away shot it does work, but close up the phone just vibrates and clicks and wont focus. I have never had this issue before and it seems there are a few others who have reported this after 4.4.4.
Any ideas or solutions out there?
Definitely doesn't sound like a software problem saying it makes weird noises
My Nexus 5 vibrate motor seems to randomly stop. Usually, it stops working for just a few seconds at a time, but sometimes it stops for more than just a few seconds. It started randomly one day, and I haven't been able to tie it to a specific app yet, and it didn't coincide with the installation of a kernel or ROM.
I'm running rooted stock Lollipop with elementalX kernel (2.03).
I've tried pushing on the back, since some people have issues with the vibration motor not making good contact with the rest of the phone, but it seems that doesn't really do anything for me. It seems to help occasionally, but not necessarily.
Sometimes turning the screen off and back on helps, but sometimes not either.
Unfortunately, the inconsistency is making it difficult for me to figure out what the problem is. Could it just be a dying motor?
You can open it up and reseat the vibration motor on its sticky pad if you're not worried about the warranty. Alternatively, some of those with the issue have reported success giving the phone a good smack.

Thanks for the ideas
I did try reseating the motor, and I thought it was going well, but after about a full day or so, I was hit with a non-vibrating motor again Turning the phone off and back on didn't help, but shaking it a bit seemed to do well
I have tried giving the phone a good smack, but it seems like a temporary thing. I'm mostly afraid I might miss a call, message, or vibrate alarm if I run into this problem with the phone in my pocket
And it happens with stock kernel as well, correct? If it has been less than 1 year you could RMA.

I had this problem as well and still encountering it sometimes. Don't worry about a missed call though. My vibration completely stopped working and a reboot didn't help, however a call made the vibration work again lol and it has been working since. Fingers crossed same **** doesn't happen again.
one day using normally my moto g 1 st gen all stock the vibration stopped working.. the haptic feedback too.
i have try to make an hard reset but nothing.
i have try too unmount the moto gand the vibration motor seem that work work good. but the problem remain.
i see that sometimes it rework automatically but is very rattle and weak.
i discover that if i little hit in the back cover of the phone the vibration rework for a little time rattle and weak.
i really don't understand how is possible.. :\
Do someone have this poroblem and possible solution ?
the warranty has expired .. my bootloader is unlocked.

Reflash stock ROM and try vibration again.
If not maybe theres a problem with the logic board or the vibrator, replacing would be the solution.
is not *that* expensive.
i have try to reflash stock rom but nothing.
damn.. i informed and i can't find the vibration motor and the mother board.. and i don't think it will simply to replace them.
reguard the cost.. moto is too expensive ... Bad luckk
Few weeks ago I sent my N5 to warranty due to broken power button. They changed out the motherboard. When powering on, I didn't feel the vibration and keyboard vibration for example didn't work either, but since it came back to me with 5.0.1 on it, I thought it's some kind of a bug. Today I flashed 5.1.1 and vibration worked fine during initial WiFi password typing, but when I got to the Google account password, it didn't work already. I reboot the N5 later and still doesn't work. Is it safe to say I got a broken motherboard from the warranty?

Probably just poor contact on the vibration motor.
Maybe the contact is indeed poor. Did you try to clear the cache & Dalvik cache ?
I've taken the back cover off before. When you put it back on you have to sort of pinch the middle of the phone to get the last clip to connect, otherwise wireless charging doesn't work. Maybe that also affects the vibrator? If you pinch the middle of the phone about where the "S" in "Nexus" is located does it seem like the back cover is connected sufficiently? If it isn't you will hear it snap into place when you pinch it. You'd know if your wireless charging doesn't work properly.
i had this problem when i changed my battery. A good smack on the back got it working again
Woow, the story got even more weird now. Vibration just worked fine during a notification.
E: A good smack on the back helped.

I had an HTC M8 and the vibration randomly stopped working for a good 6 months (unrelated to a warranty repair, just randomly). It then started working again and hasn't had an issue since. Those vibration motors are finicky, apparently.
