Hi there, how can u quickly check functionality of used phone
(gnex,ns etc.), i mean gps ,wifi, screen(i know about"pixel screen" app.),
signal strength etc.
I'm asking about checking software not hardware.
Maybe someone has experience in buying second hand phones, so please share your
experience/knowledge..
Thanks in advance
Only buy a used phone that can be rooted so U can change the software and other important phone qualities urself.
Vs Nexus S 4G
To test your device you need to use it in a daily use...

The only to know is to either get some sort of guarantee (if you're buying online) or to test it yourself if you're buying in person. If they won't let you test it then there's probably something they're trying to hide.
are you asking is there an app that does all that for you?
...no
stand there and test it
if the seller doesnt want to wait
you dont want that phone
you cant test data speed etc. without a connection to
your provider
if you have GSM service put your sim in it.
no matter what used CDMA equipment is always
a leap of faith to some degree unless the seller
will let you put it on your account
i'v bought 3 used
only knowing they would power up
and checking the ESN's before purchase
havnt got burned...
...yet
fwiw

Uh I know its an old piece already but i recently bought one, anyone know if its compatable with sensation? Or any information on the 2 working together?
Well I hope you didn't pay too much for it lol.
It works but suffers disconnect issues still. I haven't used it lately but I did use it a few months ago with a few apps that comes close to solving the disconnect issues. Meaning it was a bit better, but not worth the trouble IMO. You may feel different, being that you just got a new toy lol....

I am using stock rom, Just rooted as long as its an ics rom this app should help a ton on connectivity http://goo.gl/TE8ls ($2 USD)
It is for ICS mainly but I dont see why not it wouldnt work on any older/newer versions? As long as you have bluetooth the device will work
The only problem with it is that everytime it disconnects it asks permission to connect again, so its pretty useless/annoying. With that app it fixes everything and to make it easier download http://goo.gl/6m9yQ (free) and make it so whenever a device pairs or disconnects the Liveview app (in which you HAVE to download for the device to work in the first place) launches making it almost impossible to disconnect
Any more questions once you have the device feel free to ask. :good:
I'm going to buy a N5 soon from someone, since all the retailers are either out of stock or very overpriced. Although I have bought other phones from him, I like to be super-safe.
So, are there any issues specific to the N5 that I should check for before I buy it? How do I check the life-timer? Can that timer be reset w/o unlocking the bootloader?
What's a life timer?

Not sure newer devices have them, or I have just not noticed/found it. Check the usual stuff, sensors, buttons, physical state, charge port etc. Tbh should be OK if you have bought from the same guy previously.
EDIT: Check the screen colours, some people report yellowish tint's - I haven't experienced it though.

Neither of those services are available in my country.
Hello,
1. Make sure the device isn't cracked, scratched.
2. Check for Loose buttons.
3. Check whether the GPS is getting locked or not.
4. Make sure there is no bleeding on the screen
5. Ask for the original receipt/bill and see whether the phone has warranty in your country or not.
By taking a look at the bill date you can get to know the date of purchase and can get a rough idea about the life timer or whatever it's called.
If you have all the above points covered, I guess you are good to go!?
Also, make a phone call with it to make sure the other party can hear you ( very important )

Aside the battery, be nice to know i did not get a refurbished phone from an ebay seller...

It was just posted, did you miss the 3rd post in your own thread??? dial that and hit send on your dialer, scroll through the options and you'll find out. Sounds like a bunk phone to me though if the battery is as good as the iPhone 5s! My wife has that phone and she uses it less than me and a full day she comes home with maybe 20% battery when i have at least 45% battery! iPhone has the worst battery life in any cell phone IMO! Even my work iPhone 4s i barely use at work for just text and calls and after a full day of work of maybe 20 calls and texts i have 35% battery left.

Guys, you have to hit the CALL button after the last #
Odds are, due to the complexity of the devices original build, they will never have a "refurb" device on the market.

So has anyone figured out how to unlock the software restrictions to make the shield tablet LTE usable as a phone?
I want to buy it but I would like to have the option to use it as a phone in an emergency if something happens to my phone. I am an international buyer but i would have to import it to my country regardless what version I get since it is not sold here, and the EU version happens to be for 450 USD (I would rather get a controller or a cover with the extra cash) .

Yeah but the point of getting the LTE version is so you have data when you need it, so you might be able to rely on your data coverage to make calls. That and the boost in storage.

Meh, to me the LTE is useless if not to make calls with (in case something goes wrong with your phone) I mean there is free wifi everywhere I plan to take it with me... Airports, Hotels, most shopping malls, Coffee shops, friends house, the office... every single place I can think of that I would have my tablet with me in would have free wifi
The only thing thats going for it and I fully agree with you on that, is the extra storage... kind of a D move from Nvidia if you ask me... they should have and option for same storage for wifi version as well.

I have none !! I guess I got lucky cause I have none of the issues with battery, wifi, data, cracks, etc. that alot of those on here and the nvidia forum have complained about----> https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/150/shield-tablet/
I'm rooted and still on 4.4.2 and don't expect to go to 5.0 or 5.1 anytime soon. Too many horror stories I don't want to experiance. If and when the bugs are ironed out, maybe.
I've not heard of any success stories using the Shield Tablet as a device with LTE + Voice Calling.
I did have limited success when flashing the wx_un_mo 1.2 ROM.
I now have a working SIM from my provider, but have not yet tried re-flashing that ROM due to time and family constraints. I've been hoping to get back to it and try again.

I think most people were fine (in terms of software) until they installed Lollipop. I'd stay with 4.4.2. If the next update doesn't fix all my lagging, locking and rebooting, I'm either going to downgrade or get rid if this tablet. Too bad, because I bought both the cover and the controller. Although there is a rumor that Nvidia has already lined up the next version of the tablet with the new processor in it... could be tempting...

I have not. And I know who the hacker is. She is the mother of my kids and is about to loose custody of our 3 kids to me. She is also a bit coin miner that hijacks devices to do her dirty work. She is very experienced and I know this for a fact. It's her job. I just need to know how to SSH into the memory that she put the script in.

She has been scamming me and harassing me for 9 months. Trying to get me to click on a fabricated email with script embedded. She finally got her way. Took her almost 8 months the of trying.
I most definitely have never installed any remote desktop server or clients but I know she has. I have found them and Uninstalled. Numerous times. She has been deleting recovery emails and adding saved passwords all day. And that's just today.
If she's such a pro, bring it to a real geek professional than relying on advice from forum. She might have copied it to some partitions which are not formatted by default.

Great. Here we go. She is now back on. Messing with this forum for me. I doubt you all can see it but she is doubling up messages and moving my screen around. Crap. Oh well. If you want to email me. It's [email protected]
I did 20 to 25 full erase factory resets in a row. Still was back after the last one. I have 2 other phones she is in and 3 laptops as well.
how can you say so, plz send some screenshot. I dont think she did anything ...
I'm not exactly sure what you would like to see for a screen shot. I am running on a drive that is obviously emulated on my screen and supposedly I have 43 sensors on a fold 2. Maybe that's counting all the drivers for the sensors on my phone to connect to her phone along with all the sensors on her device. I know for a fact that at one point she had my OS running on an s21. She told me I wouldn't be able to prove it. I'm too stubborn to give up. Lol. Here is 2 screen shots. One is my hard disks and the other is my 42 sensors.

Yup. Sure thing. Whatever you say. It's very much real. It's actually very crazy. No one on here has offered me any real input. I'm not making this up. It is very much real. And although it is extremely difficult to do it is possible. Especially for someone that can program on the run and has professional and commercial experience. It's all good.
I'm not sure how she would manage to get on a burner phone too. I'm pretty sure it's possible to hack into a router & infect devices connected to it if you're using the same wifi network. You could try getting a new router & a new burner phone & don't connect any other devices you may have to the new router in case they're infected. And don't open emails from addresses you don't recognize. I would suggest going to geek squad or something like that rather than a forum though.
Ando do a malware scan on any other devices you have if possible. If you have another way to connect those devices to internet like tethering, you could try Trend Micro housecall. It's a free online malware scanner.

How do you know you're being hacked?
Tough to take this seriously and as fact.
But if you are, why haven't you gone to the authorities?
First of all this is fold 3 section not fold 2.
Secondly leave the phone to local police and tell them your wife or gf is hacking into your phone and let specialist att police go through your phone and if they find it's true they will grab evidence out of the phone and then arrest her for suspicious of hacking and they will use evidence when interviewing her and asking her that they found traces of her hacking the person's phone and such. Not last but least if higher up person decides to is do house warrant at her home so they will go home to her take all of her computer stuff including tablets and phones as part of investigation and they will check through all of them.
If you keep reseting your phone you are getting rid of all evidence from her and she will have lower chance of being sued in court and sentenced to jail for her criminal behaviour.
These sensors comes from your hardware nothing she's doing lmaoz. All smart phones have these sensors
