Hey Guys...
I Have a Concern that I would Like Help with... I am Trying to Install / Restore My Friends Galaxy S 4G to Stock but Once I get Past the FactoryFS and Etc I Get a Fail When it's Time to Write (which is what it states)
Now, I'm a Dev Assistant and a Tester So I Know How to Get Around but Samsung is a bit Harder as it Needs to Be Done via Odin
Any Info on to What Might be Causing this or as to What I Can do to help him resolve this... Every time I Try to Turn on the Phone Now I get the Recovery Menu... I Guess Since Odin was Unsuccessful @ the Writing Point?
I'm Sorry but I'm Lost Here... Thanks In Advance for the Help!
There is a thread up top labelled noobs guide to flashing. It has the stock rom link available.
You will need to run Odin before next step.
You will put the phone into download mode.
Do this by holding down the power up and power down button as you plug in the usb cable.
Your phone should recognize ODIN.
Follow the steps in the Noobs guide to flashing on how to load the files into ODIN.
It is very simple because you dont change any settings in ODIN. You leave it how it is and it really makes flashing back to stock pretty easy
Let me know if you have any questions.

Try different usb slot
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
So I actually have a similar problem but I get a FAIL every time I go through the process. Here is what I have tried:
1) Tried to root with ODIN and sent my phone into an endless boot with funky colored dots after boot screen. Apparently i failed.
2) Tried flashing with ODIN KD1 deodexed rom referenced in another xda thread about how to unbrick a galaxy s 4g. This quickly sent up the FAIL box in red in ODIN and then my phone was solidy bricked -> black screen with an arrow from a cell phone to a computer.
3) Used the One-click unbrick tool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15330252#post15330252
4) This one-click too solved my black screen problem but now i'm back to the endless boot. I can still enter into download mode but not recovery.
I have been working on this all day without any luck, so I hope someone is willing to help. Thanks

You will not need to enter recovery only download so that is ok.
Make sure you have the correct drivers for your phone installed on your computer. Also make sure you have ODIN running before you enter download mode.
I have had instances in the past where I had to reinstall ODIN and restart my computer before it would flash as well.
Let me know if you have any questions or need to know what files I use.
So I think I have the correct drivers installed on my computer but I could be wrong I suppose. The computer seems to recognize my phone fine so I think it's OK. Is there anyway to double check this?
I'm also not sure if I'm using the proper rom for flashing in ODIN. Thanks for offering to help.

If it is recognizing the phone it should be alright.
I would personally use [ROM-ODIN]T959VUVKB5 Stock + Root which can be found in ALL ROMS thread in dev section.
Once you have it downloaded take all the previously mentioned steps.
Run Odin... download mode.... etc.
Dont change any of ODINS settings.
Go down Odins list and upload the files to the correlating places. If it does not work PM me and we will figure out whats happening.
Trying this now. Thank you so much for your help.

KB5 is good, but i would recommend raver's KC1. it will clean up all problems that have accumulated from the bad flashes.
So I already flashed KB5. I would like to upgrade the phone to 2.3.5 if possible now, or is this a bad idea with all the bad flashes?

So I did a little more homework and it appears that I need to flash something like KG4 through ODIN? Once I have done this I can flash Valhalla, which appears to be the most popular/stable release.
just search for fbis251's GB start pack. that is all you need to follow. read the whole op first before doing anything.

Even if your phone is shown the "Phone---!---PC" screen .. ODIN should still recognize it being attached to your computer .. My first SGS2 Skyrocket did this in which I was able to reflash back to stock using ODIN v1.85 .. however, my first SGS2 took a real crapper for some reason .. that even the USB JIG was unable to get the phone into Download Mode.
I now have a replacement in which I'm being REAL careful with .. LOL

Morning y'all... having a similar problem... I was rooted but for some reason when in Recovery I'd only get Android Recovery??? I got CWM installed using ODIN (This is the tread I used... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526) . Then I went and tried to install miuiscotland_I9100-2.1.13... said install was complete... went to reboot from CWN... and nothing.
I tried pulling battery, going into recovery, download mode, the jig... and nothing... doesn't even look like it's charging... no spark at all?
So I have no phone as it stands right now.
Any comments, suggestions, hints, tips, tricks?
Thx.

You are hard bricked. You flashed a i9100 rom over a i727 device.
Only advice I can give is drop it in the toilet if you have insurance on the phone and get a replacement, or call your carrier's warranty department and tell them your phone just stopped working (not particularly ethical and you could get caught if they figure out it was rooted, but worth a shot...).
Oh, and the other advice is NEVER flash roms meant for devices other than the Skyrocket. Roms meant for the original S2 will brick your phone.

No need for a jig here (though it is good to have one anyways). If you get the "firmware upgrade failed" screen, just plug the phone in and if Odin sees your phone you can flash the stock tar. The "failed" screen won't look like it's doing anything but after Odin finishes you will be back to stock and life will be good again.
So I was in rom toolbox on my tab trying to increase my performance by increasing my ram/delvik cache, i increased it and it needed a reboot to take effect but when i did i got no boot noise and im stuck at the samsung logo, i can get into CWM recovery 6.0.1.0 and i tried to restore to my backup but it says "no files found" so i tried a factory reset but it is still gets stuck at the samsung logo b ut now i get the boot noise. any advice, maybe flash back to stock with odin, i can get into download mode.
Yeah a stock image in Odin should straighten it out.

I tried to flash cleanRom v1.1 but that only made things worse, now I don't even get to the Samsung screen. I originally used mobile Odin to get the 4.1.1 update but when I did that I started getting a very bad looking multi colored pixellated screen ( see attached) on boot between the tab logo and Samsung logo screens but it still booted, after attempting to flash cleanrom I get stuck on that same bad looking screen. I don't know what to do at this point, I'm still able to get to download and recovery, I need an android genius to help me please I'm begging you

This is because incompatibility between bootloader and kernel LCD identification. Almost all custom ROM not touch second bootloader Sbl.bin partition because not understand this incompatibility will reproduce this problem or fully understand Sbl.bin partition is a very dangerous area. Flash a full package stock firmware (have MLO and Sbl.bin inside) will resolve your problem.
I got my stock firmware from the thread posted by Sergio_f, does that firmware have those files?

I have the same issue - please help
What I did:
My device Samsung Tab 2 P5113 was on bootloop. I do not remember which version of Android was running on it. So, I followed this forum and using ODIN flashed 4.1.1 stock ROM. The ODIN process was successful. Device restarted -but stuck in starting process. Instead of waiting for couple of more minutes, I powered off the device and then tried to restart it.
It didnt start. It is completely black, even after connecting to PC, no change, my pc not able to detect the device in Device manager.
I am guessing I have flashed wrong Stock ROM 4.1.1 instead of ICS stock ROM. What should I do? I cannot redo this step because ODIN is not recognizing the device.
PLEASE PLEASE help.

However, I press Power + vol down button, in device manager it is showing as OMAP 4440 (no drivers installed).

This is what it says..
Please Help, I don't think its Hard Bricked.. Im Hoping its Fixable!
I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to flash a recovery using Mobile Odin. I am not sure what when wrong (Mobile Odin fault, or I flashed a bad recovery) but either way I was stuck exactly like you are. I recovered by downloading another recovery image and flashing from my PC using Odin. Once I did that the phone booted up normally and I did not lose anything.
I remember reading somewhere that mobile Odin has problems with recoveries. I have never used it but the guy above me us right, Odin on the pc should get you up and running.
First of all Thank you both... Secondly should I try to use a different Recovery version instead of the one I used?
That recovery is fine, just flash it with Odin on the pc and you should be good to go.

When I did mine it was always booting to that screen (that you pictured) when I tried to boot the phone. Once there I simply fired up Odin on my PC. The phone connected to Odin as soon as I plugged in the USB. I selected and flashed a good recovery. Once I did that I was able to reboot the phone normally.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna give it a try soon as I get my computer right.
something similar happened to me. I pulled the battery out for 5 minutes. Placed back restarted snd it was fine. I know crazy! !!
So my ATT variant Note Edge decided to quit working on me unexpectedly yesterday. All had been going well and with no warning it rebooted at 80%. A bit of its history:
Phone has been my primary work and play phone for over 3 years
I switched it from ATT to Cricket several months ago and it has been working fine.
I have been using an extended battery in it for about a year because the OEM battery was rapidly draining and would shut down when reaching anywhere from 50% - 30% charge.
What it is now doing:
Rebooting continually and either freezing at the splash page and rebooting or after several reboots it will get to my homepage, but then reboot a few seconds later.
Blue blinking light by upper speaker continuously blinks despite having black screen
What I have done:
let it reboot continually and try to get into setting when it finally gets to my homepage- no luck
rebooted it to recovery mode- it states "installing system update" then freezes and reboots OR states "no command" with a fallen Andy
Attempted to access the phone through Find my Phone in Google- set it to wipe phone- didn't work.
After several attempts it was able to reboot into recovery so I factory wiped the phone(including partitions). Still continuous rebooting.
took out SD card thinking it was corrupt- no difference
Taken battery out for minutes to hours
Any other suggestions? thanks!

So I downloaded 6.0.1 and flash through ODIN. it went through the process fine and installed, however phone continues to reboot. At one point the phone rebooted and I was able to sign in to my Samsung account. that was as far as I could get. I have tried several versions of the firmware and the same result. Continual reboot. at times I cannot even get into recovery mode.
I think my phone has finally bit the dust
Try rebooting while connected to power supply
