Hello everybody. I have an Atrix II but the charging port on the phone (where the micro usb cable connects) seems to have some bent unfixable parts in it.
so now I can not charge or do any thing involving a USB connection.
Is it a feasible option to buy a replacement part and just solder it in?
And if so where can I find such a part? Thank you so much!

You can purchse the part by purchasing my girlfriend's MB865 that she got form upgrading form her ATRIX 4G, and there'd be no soldering involved! Asking price: whatever the nominal selling price for the SGS3 with a new two year contract through AT&T! lol
I'm kidding, unless... of course, you want it. But I don't think that you'll have any luck whatsoever looking for hardware/componant replacement parts for the phone.
Are you rooted? And when did you purchase the phone? The reaons I ask, is becuase you may still be within your warranty window for a replaecement. Though, if you rooted, you'll have to FXZ back to stock and return that way, otherwise you'll be up a certain creek without a paddle...
This is an extra one I had its out of warranty, do I don't need to buy a new one. It would just be nice to be able to repair this one and have an extra working Atrix. :/ thanks though.
I do have a Atrix 4g with cracked screen and the port should be working, any way I could use that one in the Atrix 2 or is this really a lost cause...

Yea it is a small area to solder but can be done (not for the faint of heart)..... I you lift the pad thats it..... might be better off trying to get all the tabs lined up and super glue it in place.....
It shouldn't be too difficult if you have a good soldering iron and know what you're doing.
This part will do the job.

I tried searching all over googleverse and youtube but not luck on a guide on how to open a G2 to replace a LCD. so this is my last resort at looking for an answer. does anyone have a guide or can tell me that its simple to disassemble the device?
Sadly, I wouldn't think there would be a simple fix to a screen like this, simply because of the hinge, although I could be wrong. What happened to the phone, these things have only been out for like a month.
Maybe OP was doing some durabilitiy test... or he was like his avy and fell off the skateboard crushing it =[
lol no, I was going to buy one off some guy on ebay to fix for my GF but so far no dice on the repair guide.
repair guide? LMAO
i think you're going to have to make your own repair guide
you will be a hero to many
Maybe pm the guy that tore his apart on here. He may have some tips.

What do you think about the screen bezel? I'd love to get it off and have it and the batt cover anodized.
Sadly karma has stricken me for posting in this thread I assume. I had a Zagg Invisibleshield installed, and the "solution" got underneath my screen and has messed it up.
Anyone ever find a replacement for this?
Also I was thinking of calling HTC but figured they wouldnt fix it.
Tear down is here:

BE SUPER CAREFUL WITH THE MICROSD RIBBON CONNECTOR. 2 pins on mine got messed up and now the vibration doesn't work...so be aware/be careful!
http://cgi.ebay.com/TMOBILE-G2-HTC-...Cell_Phones&hash=item35aeb64eae#ht_500wt_1156
Here's one you can use as spare parts/replacement screen. If you do get this, I might want to buy the main-board off you to repair the stupid microSD connector...ugh, still can't believe I broke 2 pins on it!
Thanks!

Me too. I want the HTC logo on the front dammit! Let me know if you find what we're looking for. I already bought the HTC battery cover without the "G2" logo.
I stumbled upon this a little while ago.
Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-I997 Replacement Parts and they seem to have battery doors, i know some of you needed some. they seems to have screens and digitizers but out of stock. Cameras, batteries, speakers and what not.
i have not bought from them so i would not know if they are legit. maybe someone here can confirm. Just thought id share.
Hehe yeah that site is good buuuuuuuut...
You need to be a reseller, repair or some settled bussines related to phones.... They sell you by batches and you require to apply for membership.
I once tried to apply to buy 1 battery cover...
I was contacted about 3 days later just to be informed about all this.
Thats it basicly you need to buy a whole bunch of em; and/or be a repair industry, reseller etc.
Yeah... dissapointing i knoe...
Stil if someone here is a reseller, repairs phones or something like that give it a try maybe my mistake waa mentioning i only wanted 1 battery cover haha

you answered your own question, your charging port is damaged. Or cable, or whatever is suppling power to it
I can't read the book...o yeah and my glasses are all cracked.
Lmao
Yeah could be a number of things but if the charging port is loose I would guess something is not right.
"I am the Bacon Pope"
Are you still under the warranty period?
"I am the Bacon Pope"
ya, best bet would be to send it for warranty.
other than that we cant give advice it's like the following things ive seen:
'there's a weird bump on my arm, what could it be?'
'my car won't start, what's wrong with it?'
'my computer blue screens, how do i fix it?'
all of these kinds of questions require diagnosing the problem at the location, it cannot be done online or over the phone or on a forum. i know it sucks and you just want it fixed but there isnt anything anyone can do for you online. I wish you the best with it, hopefully it isnt too expensive to fix.
btw, loved the cracked glasses analogy
Thanks for the help and yeah it was the charging port lol I took it to a guy who fixing phones and its good now.

So, my ATT One X is acting funny. The LEDs behind the capacitive keys only work for the back button. This is not a ROM/firmware issue, as I use my own ROMs and think I have a fairly good idea of what would cause that to happen if it were. Anyway, I got it kind of wet (was in my wader pocket fly fishing and it got half submerged for half a second), so that may be/likely is it.
So, my questions are: (1) has anyone else had this happen without dunking it in water for a half a second (guessing no), and (2) more importantly, what has been people's experience with the ATT's insurance? Will they give me a hard time if I tell them it was the water dunk, or will they still check whether it's rooted/unlocked, etc? I can get it back to it's factory state, but don't want to bother. Any input is greatly appreciated, as I am using my International One X and it is really laggy in comparison, even with custom ROMs. Thanks!
Steve
If you have insurance they will replace it no matter what you did to it, if you try to get it replaced/repaired under warranty it is likely that they will want to make sure that it is not due to water damage. But you may get lucky. Good luck

Cool. I have insurance. Thanks for the info. I'll just pay the deductible and get a new one. Was planning on putting out a ROM this week, so hope it's quick.

I have had no problem using warranty for stuff like that in the fast with my atrix. I returned it with cm7 anddigitizer not working and still had no questions asked about warranty. Insurance I have used once after I broke my blackberry curve when it came out a few years ago. My HOX I went with best buy for insurance purpose

My home button goes in and out, without being dropped or dunked in water. I think it's a build defect. When mine goes out, squeezing that part of the phone causes it to flicker and come back on, so I think the solder is just shot.
Yes at&t will.replace it...by the way..since i had my original one x replace a week ago..be sure to check the lower part of the phone where the capacitive buttons are..the first and second one that they gave me made a squeaking sound..if you press it..but the 3rd one that they handed me feels solid..different build quality i guess

Hi,
So sorry for the delay in my response. It is the problem with the pin. One of them came off when I removed the micro SIM with the adapter. I will get a good picture and upload.
Thanks again

I couldn't get a picture of my SIM but if you take the attached on as an example, the highlighted pin is broken.

It has completely snapped off. The first time this sort of a thing happened, the pin was still there and I was able to push it back again but this time, since it was already weak from the last time, it just came off!!! Ironically, I was going to replace that old adapter with a newer one that has notches inside and fits better. It is a good lesson for me to let sleeping dogs lie.

Ooookkkk...didn't know that. I could have used that wisdom sooner.
I really liked this phone. I was running GB for a long time until I got enough courage to upgrade to JB using Scott's custom ROM (many thanks to him for that) and it made a already good device more awesome. I want to try to salvage it if possible. From the looks of it, based on my rudimentary knowledge, it looks like the tray is kind of soldered to the board and I am not sure whether that is correct or if I can just yank it out. Don't really want to experiment and make a bad situation worse.

If you are looking for someone to fix it for you, a lot of people have good luck with these folks for phone repairs (they did great on my daughter's power button replacement):
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/
It looks like they do Infuse "SIM card slot repair" for $50
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-infuse-4g-sim-card-slot-repair/
You ship the phone there, they ship it back after repair/test.
The cost includes return shipment, you pay for the initial shipment (mine was about $8).
Count on being without the phone for about a week or 10 days.
Thanks!
