[Q] Issue with Newly installed ROM: OrDroid V9.0 frozen at Htc Sensation logo - HTC Sensation

Hello everybody,
I would very much appreciate any help as I am quite desperate with this issue please.
I have just rooted my HTC Sensation Z710e and it is currently S/On. I have installed OrDroid V9.0 and i didn't get any error message during the installation. However, after the phone restarted, it froze at the HTC Sensation logo and it wouldn't load at all.
I did a complete wipe a couple of times and reinstalled everything again and again, but it still wouldn't work. Now I am unable to use the phone & I don't even know how to restore the initial HTC ROM to make the phone work.
Please help.
Thank you very much.

what recovery are you using?

Did you install ICS firmware?

@phil1596
Which Android was on your phone, until you flash the OrDroid Rom? It was on ICS
Any ideas where I should start please?
Thanks again

ok.
1. Download the rom
2. Put it on the SD
3. Go into the recovery and enable SmartFlash
4. Then flash the rom.
5. Post your results

Here this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345
There everything explained and also told what recovery you have to use (recovery is from where you have flashed OrDroid and did the wipe too..)
If it's 4EXT recovery then all good.. Just enter there enable smartflash in 4EXT - tools and then flash the ordroid rom again
If it's not 4EXT but cwm recovery then use the above guide step #2 to flash the recovery (skip the adb steps. Just connect the phone in bootloader to pc and start from fastboot commands)
Then step #3 and flash ordroid

Hi phil1596,
I've already got OrDroid on my SD so I moved onto step 3 and I can see the following on my screen:
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000
eMMC-boot

FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET

Can you please advise what i should select from here to enable SmartFlash?
Thanks

On point 3 i said you must go into the recovery. You are at the moment in the bootloader. Now you choose RECOVERY in the bootloader. If you there, you see at the bottom a point called "tools". Go into there an enable SmartFlash.

Actually selecting RECOVERY brings me to ClockworkMod Recovery !

Then you must flash the 4ext Recovery.
---------- Post added at 10:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ----------
1. Download the Recovery Download
2. Put it into your ADB folder
3. type in cmd
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

After you flash 4ext recovery you will easily be able to enable smart flash then download Rom. Everything should be working correctly at this point.v make sure and wipe cash and dalvik before installation.

I tried connecting the device in bootloader it doesn't work, it cannot see the device and I tried connecting it to my PC after the phone boots up till it gets frozen....it still wouldn't recognize the phone.

Cannot go into recovery

Hi,
I have a Desire S, which cannot go into recovery. Whenever I try to access recovery from hboot, it vibrates, the screen is black for half a second, then the white screen with green HTC logo, then it stuck there, forever.
I tried to flash revolutionary's recovery, but it's same. Any help?
Thanks!
Hmm... I think you don't have a proper recovery. Can you boot normally?? If yes, just boot normally, install 4EXT updater and flash 4EXT recovery from it. The free version of the app is here - http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk

Does you device boot normally? I don't believe that you have rooted your device yet?
Following the ENG Hboot flash, does your device now say:
Code:

?
FYI you can change the your thread #1 title by editing post #1 and using the Advanced EDIT function. button says "Go Advanced" Its also good practice to put [SOLVED] at the start of your previous threads title, so that people know that that problem is fixed.
Thank ben_pyett, shrome99, I update that another post.
My phone's HBOOT is now as follow:
Code:
SAGA PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.98.2000 (PG8810000)
...
I cannot boot , and cannot go into recovery
I don't know whether it's rooted or not - may be not. Any solution for me now?

hello to all!
i hope this is the right place for my problem. today i unlocked my girlfriends desire s with the htc unlock method. then i rooted it and installed superuser, 4ext and rommanger. when i now want to flash a custom rom, the phone restarts, gives me a few seconds a black screen with a green sign in the middle, after this the sign turns red and the phone freezes.
i cant find´any method here to get s-off (the hboot is 2....) all methods for s-off and hboot downgrade that i found here didn´t work..
any solution?
All i want is to flash a custom firmware...

PROBLEM SOLVED... i found the solution...
Set up fastboot using this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272595
Then, enter fastboot mode on your phone and in CMD (in the directory where you have fastboot) do this -
fastboot flash recovery PATH TO RECOVERY.img
Click to collapse
PATH TO RECOVERY is the path to the recovery eg. C:\downloads\CWM.img
i get to work this and was able to flash a cfw in clockwork-touch-mod but after flashing 2 different cfws, my phone sticks at the green htc logo... i´m so pi**** off.
i guess the problem is that i got hboot 2... and s-on, but i think i have read that when you use the the htc unlock method, you do not have to have s-off

[Q] Stuck at CyanogenMod boot screen. Help pls!

Hi. I'm new to HTC Sensation XE. Yesterday I just decided to root my Sensation XE phone so I went to htcdev.com to unlock bootloader.
Everythings went well, I managed to install Clockwork Recovery to my phone and able to install Superuser.
Bad things happened when I try to install CyanogenMod 9 through Clockwork Recovery. I put the rom into SD card, boot into Clockwork and then wipe data/factory reset plus wipe chache partition. Then install ZIP from SD card.
After "install complete" i reboot my phone and now I see CyanogenMod logo looping and stuck there.
I still can get into Clockwork and try install other rom but the Cyanogen logo also comes back everytime and stuck there.
I just found out that I have to do S-Off ?? I have no idea what to do next.
My previous phone was Nexus S. I installed many custom roms on that phone without any problem. As far as I know if I can get into Clockwork Recovery, my phone has been rooted, right? So
What is S-Off?
Why I have to flash firmware??
ROM for Sensation compatible with Sensation XE?
I am not familiar with AROMA installer, is this the problem I can't install ROM successfully?
Now my phone in HBOOT says:
***UNLOCKED***

First, you should check the guide on how to flash roms s-on or something. It says you have to push the boot.img in adb, i think.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
get the boot.img from the cm9 rom zip file
copy it to the adb/fastboot folder in your pc
connect the phone in bootloader to PC (phone should read fastboot usb after this )
now open command window in the adb folder and type this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
once it got success
type
fastboot reboot
your phone should boot fine now

SOFF: is security off ..once you got this off ..you can change any partition ..like you can install a custom recovery like cwm..over stock recovery ..and custom roms too
but ..HTC-DEV unlock ..is a alternative provided by the HTC ppl ..where when you do unlock ... recovary partition and partitions to make a custom rom work ..got unlocked ..thus this way you can flash cwm and thus custom roms ..
firmware:
to explain that ..think like this ..the complete phone is
hardware + firmware(radio +hboot/bootloader + some others ) + recovery (stock/custom) + ROM (system +data + boot)
now to have a ICS rom ..you need to have ICS firmware ..thus ICS radio (to have good signal) ..and ICS compatible bootloader to have ROM up and running
(remember if you have HTC-Dev unlocked bootloader you cant change the radio and hboot/bootloader)
as you are on ICS priror to doing HTC-dev unlock bootloader ..you are fine now ..as you already got a ICS radio (starts with 11.2x ..in settings->about phone->more->software information->baseband) ..also the hboot/bootloader 1.27.xxx is of ICS one ...
so you are fine with installing any custom roms ...
now there is a little headache when installing custom roms ..via custom recovery in case of HTC-dev unlocked case
some how when you flash a rom ...via cwm..every thing gets flashed except the boot.img which is the primary component to get the phone booting ...so you need to flash the boot.img separately ...that i explained earlier
there is a good recovery which can avoid the extra pain too ..that is 4EXT and the feature is smartflash
to understand the functioning of this recovery
have a good read of this thread ...its for you

Thank you. That's explain a lot. Now I can boot into Cyanogen and everything is fine now. So one last question, Am I have to push boot.img via fastboot everytime I install a new custom rom? If so, what to do when dealing with rom with AROMA installer?
I tried roms with AROMA installer and the installation ends at "SuperWipe". Nothing seems to install to my phone.

yes as long as you have cwm recovery ..you need to do that ..for every custom rom
and
thats why im saying its best to have 4EXT recovery ..as most of roms are 4EXT recovery compatible ..and what more its base is CWM itself ..so what ever backups you made via CWM can be used in 4EXT recovery ..too (and also its touch recovery )
for 4EXT ..recovery ..check the above guide step #2 for installing the 4EXT recovery
step #3 ..which has an amazing feature ..which will be quite useful to you ..(smart flash)
step #5 ..which makes the smartflash permanent

Can I get some help? I have tried to reinstall the boot loader as described but that didn't work.
I have also tried to reinstall the rom and that didn't work either :/
I'm really worried and would appreciate any help.
My phone is also a sensation XE I have rooted it and my recovery works with the 4EXT.

Big mistake trying to flash CM10

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I unlocked my HTC Sensation through the HTCDev site and through the recovery, even with S-ON I went straight to flashing CM10 through CWM.
Now all I see is the CM10 boot screen and I cannot connect my phone to the computer either. However, I can still mount files onto the SD card through recovery. I am able to flash CM9 but its the same problem where it just boots forever.
If anyone had any ideas or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you could use a PG58IMG.zip to flash 4ext recovery from bootloader
but unfortunately you are S-ON(i was searching for that zip somewhere here but it requires to be S-OFF)
also you said that you don't have enabled usb debugging mode
then i can only see one option.using a ruu.exe and return back to zero

Have you tries a different USB port, or manually reinstall the drivers? Be sure when you manually install the drivers, do it with your phone unplugged. Then once you reinstall the drivers, plug your phone in, and it should work.

I've tried to use the driver off of http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-sensation-4g-tmobile/software-updates but when it runs, nothing pops up. Before this, I didn't need to install drivers before connecting my phone through USB
Could it be because after I unlocked the bootloader, I didn't turn debugging on? Now I don't think I have a way to do that
EDIT: Is is possible that I just get the backup files of someone using the stock and I move it into the restore of clockwork mod and backup from there?

it could be possible
but again while you are S-ON cwm recovery won't work ater restoring the backup
with smartflash feature enable from 4ext it has the ability to write also the boot partition
(that's why your rom didn't boot after installing with cwm)
if you want use these drivers instead

Those drivers installed correctly but I still get the same message where the device isn't working properly As of now I've been trying to extract the rom.zip's from RUU files and going to fastboot but I keep getting wrong image or no image

EDIT: the bootloader will not pick up on the rom.zip as the PG58img.zip method is disabled by htc once you use htcdev.
do you have access to another pc? maybe you could try with that and boot into bootloader and when it says its looking for the drivers let it do an online search before trying to "feed" it drivers. once you have fastboot working just place the attached .img file and place it into your adb folder and open a command prompt there (cmd) then with your phone placed in fastboot usb mode issue the command " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ". once this has flashed boot into recovery and select tools/enable 4ext smart flash. select yes. then wipe everything and re-flash your cyanogenmod 10 + gapps. reboot and wait up to 10 minutes for the first boot. No need for a ruu pal
THANK YOU GUYS! I followed heavy_metal_man's advice on hooking it up to another computer then I used rdr86's drivers to install it. From there I was able to use fastboot commands and get on to 4ext and flash CM10. It worked great! Except that my main camera isn't working right now. I hope I don't screw it up again next time I update. Thank you both again, I really appreciate it.

I realized I was on an old version of CM10 and I just flashed the most recent one to fix it. Although I don't have a camera shortcut now.. I just got one off the app store and fixed that little problem. Otherwise, I love the look and feel of CM10! Can't imagine going back to stock
Hmmm....I think you should add "while S-ON" on the title

okay sorry for late reply .. You are S-ON and have CWM recovery that's why you can't pass the boot logo as CWM don't have the capibility of smart flash. you have to install 4ext recovery.
Follow the below guide :highfive: and i m assuming that your phone is htc dev unlocked and have adb and fastboot etc..
You need to flash boot.img manually using fastboot in bootloader to pass the boot screen. For viperS "boot.img" is present in kernel folder ,extract it and place it in fastboot folder..
Then open fastboot folder and press shift then right click button and choose " open command window here " .
In command window type this " fastboot flash boot boot.img " without quotes and press enter and done.
hope you understand.
After this you can install 4ext recovery easily using this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 ) ..
dude, after flash rom in cwm, power off phone, press volume - and power button to boot in bootloader, plug in usb cable, enter in cmd, type fastboot flash boot d:\boot.img ( search boot.img in arhive of rom )

[Q] Please help phone has no OS

Okay so here is what happened i unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone using the all in one toolkit, i tried to flash a custom ROM using the GooManager app. This is where things went wrong. After flashing the ROM my phone shut off and would only turn on to the HTC Quietly Brilliant page at the beginning of the boot cycle, i made a backup but dont know how to find it. I somehow managed to wipe the entire phone and now i have no operating system. I had TWRP installed but cannot access it because i relocked the phone. Is there anyway to get this thing working again? any help would be much appreciated
here is what my fastboot screen reads:

Since you are s-on, you need to fastboot flash boot boot.IMG from the ROM you want to use. While you're at it you may as well just s-off your device. It will make things simpler in the end. You're going to have to unlock the boot loader again to flash the boot image though. You will also want to flash recovery again via fastboot.

Take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136172
It will answer many of the questions that you have and provides links to appropriate tools.
You should definitely s-off your device now. Just look for the question in the thread I linked for more detail. Bookmark it as well, or add it to your favorites, as it will provide a great reference point for future use.
Once you have s-off, you will just have to flash any ROM you want from recovery. It will make your life way easier.
If someone helps you, just hit the thanks button, or thumbs up from the xda app.

You need to get a ROM booting brute trying s-off. Don't use Goo Manager to install ROMs, install manually through TWRP recovery. Once you've installed the ROM reboot to the bootloader and flash the boot.img. Here's how to flash the boot.img.
Extract the boot.img from the ROM zip and copy it into your fastboot folder on your pc. After you've flashed the ROM and/or gapps, reboot to bootloader and connect your phone, make sure it says fastboot on your phone screen. Then you can issue the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now you can reboot your phone into the ROM.

Okay I was able to flash the boot.img but can't figure out how to flash the rom.. Should I do it through recovery? Or through a fast boot command prompt like the one used to flash the boot.img

This may go with out saying but when I'm in recovery and hit the reboot button and try to select "system" it comes up with a message telling me I have no OS installed and asks if I want to continue anyway..
Use the wipe menu in TWRP to do a full wipe (cache/dalvik/factory reset/system). Then use the install option to the install the ROM (and gapps if it's an aosp ROM). Then reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img with fastboot. Then reboot your phone.

Mount your sdcard through TWRP. You should then be able to drag and drop the file from your computer to your sdcard. It should go without saying that your phone needs to be connected to your computer.

What ROM did you flash with Goo Manager?
You mount the sd card by going into the mount menu, then using the mount usb storage option.
