Recovering Unsaved video file - General Questions and Answers

Hey,
So I was recording on the stock Camera camcorder a birthday, paused, then exited, seeing no save button. When looking to review later, I didn't find the file. Not realizing that the "Stop" button functions as a save button, I suppose I inadvertently didn't save the file.
Later, I used Wondershare Photo Recovery on the SD card to find the lost files. It recovered a few files, all 123 mb each, numbered 000018-000023, in varying formats- mp4, 3gp, 3g2, m4v, and mov. They don't play.
2 other files were recovered, one that does, but are files that I actually deleted, and have a different file size (aroudn 2 MB)
How would I go about "fixing" the files? Seeing that this is probably the 3rd-4th time using the camcorder, and since the files are all the same size, does this indicate that they are all fragments of one file?
Any help'd be appreciated. Thanks.

Videos beung erased from sdcard2

I keep loading videos on sdcard2,and they keep getting deleted by the device. I have had it happen on stock and now on vegen. I can watch the videos, they arr found easily in various programs, and other tyoes of files are never deleted, just videos. Divx, avi, mp4 and mpeg. Has anyone esle seen this or now how to fix it?
Opening up es file explorer, browse to your sdcard2. Press menu, choose "new" and then "file" and name it
.nomedia
This will prevent your sdcard from being scanned and your videos will not get deleted (bug with the current software).

Cooliris Gallery3D thumbnail format

Hey all, I'm just wondering if anyone knows the file formats for the cooliris gallery thumbnails?
I have a 2 year old who loves watching videos on my phone, but all of the thumbnails for these videos are just black (well most of them). He never knows which video he is playing.
My idea is to manually generate the thumbnails myself and use those but I only see some chunk, index, and cache files in the cooliris data folder.
Does anyone know where I can find the format of these files so I can write a program to generate these files for me?

[Q] Video from converted DVD works for one chapter but not for the whole movie

Hi,
I have used handbrake to convert a DVD movie for playing on the Nexus S, according to settings found on a nexusoneforum thread (840-how-convert-any-video-your-nexus-one) Basically the settings are the same than the iPhone, but with correct extensions and some tweaking. The video has only P/I frames, no B frames.
When converting a 5min chapter, the resulting video was perfect! I got a 45MB file, which could be played in the stock player. However, after converting the whole DVD (file size of 1.1GB), using the same settings, then I get the message "Sorry, this video cannot be played". I tried other players but with the same issue.
Has anyone got an idea? Is there a maximum size for videos?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I return with some new experiments. I partially encoded the movie, trying various number of chapters, still in h264 (x264) in handbrake. I noticed that a 155MB, 17 minutes file plays correctly, but not a 275MB. I don't know if the problem is size or duration, I would need to try different resolutions for that.
Has anybody tried it?
I just tried to play these files from the USB storage but on my computer. The file itself is ok, but VLC can play the 17 minutes file, but cannot play the longer one with this error:
Code:
No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
I now suspect the problem lies with handbrake, that uncorrectly tags the stream formats (but why does it happen for a longer stream??). I will try to edit these files with avidemux or virtualdub to see what is inside.
I found the issue and it has nothing to do with the encoding, but with the uploading to the phone!
Indeed, the original file is readable. I use Linux, with the KDE desktop. It seems that when the screen times out (or the phone goes to sleep?), the upload is somewhat interrupted and the file is corrupted! Even if I took care to unmount the mounting point of the Nexus on the Linux filesystem.
I tried again after I increased the screen timeout to 30 minutes, and it worked ! I was able to upload the 1.1GB file to the phone and the movie could be played.
Is that a known issue, or am I doing something wrong?
Besides, I still have difficulties to unmount the Nexus:
Code:
$ umount /media/35EE-1E0E/
Unmount failed: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
The mounting point of the Nexus disappears though and the file is correctly uploaded. Has anyone encountered this problem (or has tips)?

MX Player slow video deletion fix? Anyone?

Hi, I have been using MX Player for years but encountered this problem last year only. Whenever I delete a video from a folder containing more than 2000 videos or other folder containing 1000 videos, it takes 4-5 seconds to delete it. However, when I delete a video from a folder containing only a 100 videos, it deletes them within a second. Is there any fix for this? Because of this I have to delete videos from file explorer apps like Solid Explorer and the videos are continuously decreasing the space in my memory card since I'm too lazy to delete them from file explorer every time. This is the reason why I'm looking for an alternative of MX Player.
I would really appreciate if there's a fix for this.
Hi, I have same problem as user before me - when I trying delete some for example 20 files from folder with for example 500 videos (short movie clips for info) it takes long time - around more then 2 minutes, between deleting Android OS warning me about MX Player stop responding - time is little shorter if i deleting videos without extra thumbnails (for example video file VIDEO.MP4 and thumbnail VIDEO.JPG) - exist solution except I will not use thumbnails? Anyway, if I use for example Total Commander for Android delete is in some seconds. I see solution does not exist for years... Thank you anyway.
PS: Deleting is slower if videos (and optionally extra thumbnails) is on SD card, but this situation is for external SSD disk. I am using payed version MX Player PRO - is really problem in my HW/SW or in application and way how MX Player deleting files?
