Hi, I have been using MX Player for years but encountered this problem last year only. Whenever I delete a video from a folder containing more than 2000 videos or other folder containing 1000 videos, it takes 4-5 seconds to delete it. However, when I delete a video from a folder containing only a 100 videos, it deletes them within a second. Is there any fix for this? Because of this I have to delete videos from file explorer apps like Solid Explorer and the videos are continuously decreasing the space in my memory card since I'm too lazy to delete them from file explorer every time. This is the reason why I'm looking for an alternative of MX Player.
I would really appreciate if there's a fix for this.
Hi, I have same problem as user before me - when I trying delete some for example 20 files from folder with for example 500 videos (short movie clips for info) it takes long time - around more then 2 minutes, between deleting Android OS warning me about MX Player stop responding - time is little shorter if i deleting videos without extra thumbnails (for example video file VIDEO.MP4 and thumbnail VIDEO.JPG) - exist solution except I will not use thumbnails? Anyway, if I use for example Total Commander for Android delete is in some seconds. I see solution does not exist for years... Thank you anyway.
PS: Deleting is slower if videos (and optionally extra thumbnails) is on SD card, but this situation is for external SSD disk. I am using payed version MX Player PRO - is really problem in my HW/SW or in application and way how MX Player deleting files?

Hi guys,
just got a HP touchpad. now is there a video player on here? and if its there what format do they have to be in to view it. have tried a couple of different ones and cant get them up.
Is there a player app i can download onto it at all ?
thanks
there is a photos & videos app built in, but it's pretty poor for video.
you need to add your video files to the root of the built in storage (the tablet installs onto your computer as a removable drive).
i still haven't got my head around the video file support just yet, but it doesn't seem to handle .avi, divx, xvid etc.
mp4 seems to be the main format.
there are a couple of apps for streaming videos from a upnp media server, but nothing free as far as i can tell.
kalemsoft media player seems to be the best of these as it lets you load video files from the local storage on your tablet as well as browse for remote stuff.
i have successfully played an avi file using this app.
i've only tried the demo version so far which requires internet access in order to assess the trial period.
i don't particularly want to purchase the paid version just yet.
I used Handbrake and followed the instructions here: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-tou...n-resources/287212-handbrake-preset-dvds.html I just tried a short 45 minute kids dvd to see if it would work okay. It was about a 400mb file. Placed it in a folder called Videos on the root of the usb partition and it shows up fine in the Photos and Videos app.

see i tried doing that as well. creating a folder called videos on the root and it wasn't detected.
only when i added the file direct to root could i access it.
are directory names case sensitive?
a video player that allows you to browse and/or add directories would be much better.
EDIT: looks like i had a folder called video. changed it to videos and it shows up.
strangely enough kalemsoft creates a folder recordings. when i added a video file to that, it also showed up.
I have put my videos in the download folder and they show up in the stock player fine. Also converted DIVX avi files to MP4 with Handbrake. Used the ipad HD settings for nice quality.
Kalemsoft Media Player wil read a lot of video formats , you can find it on app catalog.
The kalemsof that i downloaded isnt displaying in full screen and sometimes will hang on my TP. Guess its still not compatible to TP yet?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Thanx for the tip about Handbrake, nunja. I'll try it for conversions. I concur with the settings...
I'm on a Pre 2 and have no problems with mp4 playing (once you get the settings down it becomes rote). For my phone I use iPod settings...
For ripping from DVD I use DVDFab3 - I know there are way newer versions out there and I tried them but always go back to version 3. I just like the UI and it has never let me down. Point it at a DVD or ISO and under Mobile click Generic. You can configure it for generic mp4 and get a resolution up to 848x480 which should be alright on the TP screen. Your settings like Resolution, bitrate, volume level, subpicture - can all be saved as a profile.
DVDFab3 in a .rar file. Just extract and it will run out of the folder without install...
Hello. I apologize if this is a duplicate, but I tried searching and did not find anything.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (32GB model with a 32GB micro SD card) and have been using HTC phones for years now.
My dilemma is that I tried to organize and create sub-folders for my media, and now I cannot play or access my music. Note: I realize this is of most likely my fault.
1. I originally loaded all my music (mp3) and movies (avi files) onto the device. (sdcard) in the DCIM folder. In the "music folder" I created sub-folders for types of music. ie. Alternative, Electronic, Inde, etc.
2. Now, the only way I could access everything through the "Gallery" and the problem was all the media was jumbled together. The music cover art, and movies were mixed together with the camera photos.
The music was all mixed together in the "Music player" There was no organization, it took a very long time to find whatever I was looking for, whether it was Music, Photos, or Videos.
So I did the following...
1. In the EXTSDCARD, I made sub-folders to organize everything ie. (Music, then Alternative, Electronic, etc) (a Movies folder) (a Camera folder) and a (Saved Photos) folder. Note: I put all of my saved photos taken from the camera in this folder.
2. Now, --- ALL pictures taken with the camera end up in the "camera folder" (accessible through the Gallery & NO MORE ALBUM ART) [good]
--- ALL the movies (avi files) ARE available through the "video player" [good]
--- NONE of the music is available through the "music player"
I am completely lost. I don't understand what is going on with the Music Folder. Does this make any sense? Has anyone ever had this issue before? I'm sure I did something wrong, I just don't know what it is. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated, and thanks for taking the time to read through this mess.
I almost wish I just left it how was before. It took about half a day to transfer all the media from sdcard into the extsdcard and in sub-folders. Very slow transfers. Thanks again.
Hi, I'm trying to find out what program is storing thumbnails for all my movies in
storage/emulated/0/.thumbnails/_4.4.2/
I guess _4.4.2 is the identification of the device, in this case the OS version, as tablet and phone have similar path but adding the model of the phone on it.
Not sure if this is created by MX player or any other program. I only use MX player but I have others installed and perhaps some of them are creating thumbnails in the background automatically even this is not requested manually.
I'm asking this because the thumbnails use a large amount of space.
If this is not created by MX, where MX is storing them?

Hope you are using samsung device.
It's created by Samsung video player app. It keeps on growing till your storage space getts low...!!!
I have same problem in S5. The work aroud given on web leads to continuous crash of video player.
Yes, both devices Samsung: S5 and a tablet galaxy 10.1 2014 edition.
It is basically killing my storage, using more than 3 gigs in the tablet internal memory. As soon I delete it, it is created again like some kind of curse. Not only memory also processor.
It is easy to understand why uses so much memory. The thumbnails are animated. It is a fancy player miles away of the functionality of MX.
After deleting, it only regenerates for videos still on your device, right? Or are you saying it "recovers everything"...
Either way, you should definitely file a report with Samsung!

MX Player stores thumbnails on <sdcard>/Android/data/com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad(.pro)/cache/image
These are definitely not from MX
I have found out that they are created by Samsung video application. They are animated video thumbnails and very large. Because I have a 128 GB memory card in a Galaxy 5 it creates 4 Gigabytes of thumbnails in the internal memory. Not related to the thumbnails created by Google in DCIM. As soon I deleted they are generated again with considerable use of batteries. There is no way to uninstall or deactivate the program.
KitKat makes the things worse as is not possible to move applications to the external SD easily. I'm running out of space continuosly and any search in internet shows no solutions.
I know this is not MX related but anyone using MX with lots of videos and a Samsung will have this problem.

Hi everyone,
I am looking for an app with the following features:
- Play all kinds of differently encoded videos
- have a daily automatically changing playlist of X videos that are played in loop all day long
I had a look at MX player, VLC etc., but they don't even seem to offer playlists ... (I thought about using macros to achieve that second feature, but without playlists ...)
I would be glad about any suggestions.
thc88
PS: Does it make sense to ask the developers of MX Player to implement such a feature in their pro version?
This can already be achieved in MX Player. In the video selection menu, select all videos in a folder, and press "play selected" at the toolbar at the top.
In your player settings when player a video, go menu -> play -> loop all
Thank you for your reply.
But I think in this case the videos will eternally be the same.
But I want a certain number of videos be looped for a day and the next day another certain number (for instance 5) of different videos be looped for another day.
you should use tasker
1-you create a folder "X" where you put your videos in
2-You create another folder "Y" where your put the videos that have to be played
3-with tasker you create a task that will move/copy files from "X" to "y" (you have to set up days and hour for this)
4-with tasker you create a task that will erase file in folder X (you can erase them at the end of the day for ex.)
It can a little bit hard but I think you can succeed with taker and mx.
Regards.
Hallo,
I use mx player as an artist.
But there is a problem.
I play mpg files directly from es file.explorer.
When I press the back button during playback, in order to go back to es file explorer to find the next track, mx player pauses performance for a.split second.
It was not like that a year ago but since 6 months there is this .
