I have found that most of the "codes" are unreliable at best when used on the Skyrocket. That is if they work at all.

i havent used any, i was checking the status of the locks, im going to wait for my son to come home later and use his virgin sim card to see if it is unlocked, i bought it new from rogers, my thinking is that with a legit sim installed it would show locks as "off"
edit: even with no sim card it shows locks as off, maybe i got an unlocked phone from rogers

link please for the code seller ad ?
and did it work fine ?
worked great, was on seans skyics, but the screen to enter unlock code would not come up w/virgin sim installed. so odin'd rogers stock ics, kept rogers sim card in, went throught setup of phone, restarted phone w/virgins sim and the unlock screen came up, entered the 8 numbers, took a few seconds and voila, it said network unlocked, or something like that, reinstalled skyics from backup, kept virgin sim card in, and still unlocked.
edit: conclusion, if on custom rom and the "enter the code screen" does not come up, you must return to stock to be able to get that screen to come up to enter the unlock code.
HOW TO ENTER UNLOCK CODE:
RETURN TO STOCK ICS, OR GB BUT ICS PREFERRED WITH TUTORIAL HERE [HOWTO] NEWB GUIDES TO: | RESTORE TO STOCK | USE ODIN | INSTALL CWM | ROOT | ics & gb
ONCE STOCK HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND CONFIRMED THAT IT BOOTS AND IS FUNCTIONAL, TURN PHONE OFF.
W/PHONE OFF INSERT NEW CARRIERS SIM CARD
RESTART PHONE, THE UNLOCK SCREEN SHOULD COME UP, ENTER CODE AND WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION.
ONCE CODE HAS BEEN EXCEPTED AND PHONE HAS BOOTED AND CONFIRMED WORKING ON NEW CARRIER YOU CAN PROCEED TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS.
NOTE: MAKE SURE RADIO IS USING/CONFIGURED TO USE THE FREQUENCY FOR THE NEW CARRIER
ITS A PERMANENT UNLOCK EVEN WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN ROMS, STOCK OR CUSTOM
THERE IS NOWAY TO REMOVE CODE, NO FORMATTING PROCEDURES OF INSTALLING AND/OR USING ROMS, EITHER THROUGH ODIN OR RECOVERY(STOCK/CWM/TWRP), WILL REMOVE CODE

Just an FYI.. I have unlocked (network unlocked) several phones from AT&T simply by calling customer service and requesting the "subsidy unlock code". I simply told them I was traveling overseas, and that I didn't want to pay for international service. I entered the codes given to me by AT&T (for free) using directions that I had found through Google, and bam! Instant carrier unlocked phone for free

If you've had your SR for 6 months and account is in good standing ATT will provide subsidy unlock code, press them to open a case to request the code from Samsung, you will receive it via email in about a week.
Yes I have had it for about 5 and a half months but by the time I would have been going overseas it would be 6 months, they gave it to me without a hassle. To keep this on topic, tried to input the code and it didn't work...I see you must have a stock tomorrow and I am on alimbean so I am really of no use, sorry

Hello ! I got this phone a little over a week ago and it was perfectly fine until 2 days ago. I keep getting " searching for network " even though I have signal ( and full bar ) and 4G LTE. I can't make a call or send a text but my internet works fine. I went to Verizon to get a new SIM card and it's still the same. I even download an app to turn off 4G LTE to see if it helped , nope. I searched and can't find anything for the Verizon version of the phone. Someone had the same problem with Sprint. I've tried factory reset as well. Phone is bone stock. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :good:

I would try reprovisioning the sim. I'd have to find it(on my phone multitasking), course you can do the same, but there is a code you type in the dialer that reprovisions the sim on the phone.

Just wonder, are you using the stock battery that came with your phone or are you using an after market one?
This sounds like my phone, sorta. I lost LTE, unless I lock it in using the phoneinfo app, from the market, but when I lock it to LTE then I don't have voice or texting any longer. I rooted my phone, but don't thing that had anything to do with it, because I wasn't getting 4G before I rooted. I haven't called Verizon to get any help yet, but I plan to tomorrow. Have you tried to lock it to cdma, using the phone info app? I am just curious if you can use voice and data on 3G, if you lock it down. If I get any words of wisdom from them tomorrow, I will let you know.

I have a similar issue - I have a mobile signal, but not recognizing the verizon network. No 4G LTE or anything. I was rooted and flashed cyanogenmod 9 when this happened. I've since taken it back to verizon store to get new SIM and unrooted to factory and still nothing.
I'm starting to think that It's the phone and not something I did to it. Though, I read in another post something about IMEI issues (I see my IMEI number) or that I need to flash the PIT.

does this work? i am having the same issues. searching for service on the lockscreen. and the antenna keeps going from 3 bars to none and a circle with a slash through it. any ideas?
update. didn't do squat but restore the phone back to stock. also it re locked the boot-loader. and lost super user. i hope it reboots now. i had to unlock the boot-loader and install SU from the market. but the searching for server still persists.
I have the same exact issue. I actually made a post about it and no one would respond. I had perfect service on mine until I rooted the phone and as soon as I rooted it it started the searching for service ****, even though it shows I have service. When it pulls up searching for service I am able to use the web but no texts or calls. I just don't understand what the problem is nor how to fix it. I have flashed all the different modems and none of them changed anything in the long run. Please someone help us!

Do you have a PIN SIM lock on your card ? I had the issue when I put my cousins SIM card in my phone and couldn't unlock it (didn't get the PIN popup at start up). I've put it back in his phone and disabled the SIM lock there and put it back in my phone. After that, the network was found and I got the option in Security to set a SIM lock back (it wasn't there when the card was locked).

This happened to me once before and it was because I inserted the sim the wrong way. There's only one way to insert the sim following the sim symbol near the slot. Worth a try to double check.

This may sound silly, but make sure you have the sim inserted correctly, i.e. correct orientation, seated well, etc.
Also, did you adjust the APN settings? And as was mentioned before, make sure your local network(s) support the same bands the i9020a does.
Btw, thumbs up if you forgot what GB looks like lol.

So i assume that everyone has heard of the new Device Unlock app preinstealled on Devices sold by T-Mobile and Metro PCS. They present it as a new way for carrier unlocking devices in an easier way but the catch is having to meet THEIR requirements like using their service for at least 90 days (Prepaid) or fully paying off the device (Postpaid).
The problem is that they are practically forcing us to throw money at them to get anything we want even though we prepaid customers purchased our devices outright. Sure for some people the device was sold at a discounted price so it would make since for them to gain that money back through service activations, but that still wouldn't equal the amount you would be paying during a 90 day period. On top of that there are people that didnt get this device at a discounted price, therefore we shouldn't have to be "Limited" like those who did.
So after doing alot of research, since i too have a MS631 Stylo, it seems that this device was reprogram to generate sim unlocking remotely, but that doesnt entirely mean it's impossible to bypass this like most people say. This isn't iPhone, this is Android. Completely open sourced and with root access, we have the ability to manipulated any given SOFTWARE function.
Looking through files etc. It seems the sim unlocking menu was removed. Doesnt take a scientist to do that (Nice job Metro and T-Mobile). Simply sideloading the SimUnlock Menu apk from another LG device will bring it back. The dialer codes were also generating null output. On the MS631 the dialer code is 2945#*631# if im not mistaken. Entering this defaultly will generating nothing but the digits being erased. Installing the sim unlock menu from the LG G2 reactivates this function. Using the same dialer code will bring up the sim unlock menu successfully but none of the options will work. Choose any will greet you with a nice message stating "Your phone is not personalised". This means theirs no internal script or file locking your device like before, this officially confirms the unlock proccess is server sided. But, you have to take into consideration that the SimUnlock menu only reads from a specific directory to locate and process the unlock code when entered. So now the question relies on where the unlock is triggered on your phone from their servers.
Removing the Device Unlock app will do nothing since it's nothing but a tool to proccess this unlock via sever then callbacked to trigger the unlock on the device. So i tried flashing the T-Mobile KDZ thinking it would automatically unlock my device or at least lock it to the T-Mobile's Network instead which is the service im trying to switch to anyway. Flashing the KDZ is successful but nothings changes. Im still greeted with the Network Lock message upon entering a foreign sim, even a T-Mobile sim. Users in the S6 forums have had success flashing the Metro PCS firmware on their T-Mobile S6's to bring up the Unlock Screen, but the thing with their situation was the device unlocking software was not programmed into the Metro PCS software. The Device Unlock was programmed on Both Metro and T-Mobile stylo firmwares.
How can your phone still tell you're locked to a specific network even though youre using a different firmware? Well apparently the device unlocking function is programmed in the modem. To my knowledge Metro and T-Mobile share the same modem for the Stylo, meaning flashing another firmware may have worked on other phones but not on the Stylo considering the status of the modem has not changed.
So here's my suggestion to get the Stylos unlocked or at least bring back a work Unlocking menu and bypassing the Device Unlock app. Port the international rom to the Metro and T-Mobile versions. Don't say it's impossible, because it's been done on several devices and people still do it to this day. The international versions dont carry the same modems nor do the cricket and boost versions. It could also be possible to look at porting those too. It would be harder to port due to the T-Mobile and Metro versions being the only ones to have 16GB or Internal and 2GB of RAM, but it's possible. If there are any devs willing to do this then that would be great. This isn't just a solution for the LG Stylos but potentially for every other phone with this new unlocking function. Carriers are trying to control us again and it's time to fight for our rights to what WE OWN! Thanks

You're right it isn't. But there are people that buy T-Mobile devices strictly for the Unlocked Bootlader and having to activate service with them for 90 days and dish out 3 months worth of money just to use it on their service provider is a bit far fetched. Like in my situation, I bought the Metro variant on CL because no one was selling the T-Mobile variant except the T-Mobile store which cost almost $100 more. I was told my T-Mobile sim would work in it since its the same network anyway. Well it was my fault for not researching and seeing that even though metro works on T-Mobile devices out of the box, T-Mobile does not work on metro devices unless it's unlocked. According to metro in order for me to unlock it I have to have service with them for 90 days. So now I'm forced to cancel my T-Mobile service and hop on Metro, when I don't won't to because of the crappy coverage, for 90 days just to use my main service provider afterwards. It's too much for one simple thing.

Now that metro ditched their cdma network i do believe they run on the same towers. You could also change the apn to t-mobile as well. And Metro is cheaper and doesn't throttle the data speeds on their unlimited plan.
I used around 50gb in two days with pretty fast speed.

Changing Apns wont work as the apn never sticks. T-Mobile rep confirmed that even though Metro runs on their network, they aren't allowed to utilize all of their towers which explains the crappy coverage with them. Based on what T-Mobile said, there could be 7 of their FULL LTE towers in an area but the Metro network could only use maybe 1-3 of them. Thats the price they pay for being an MVNO instead of an official carrier. That's great that you get good speeds with Metro, but unfortunately in my area i don't.
All in all, the new network lock seems to point out the actual locking/unlocking process is being done in the modem.
If using a new modem image (taken from an unlocked version) won't work by default (which I tend to think will be the case) then, the network lock validation process (based on the IMEI) must be done within the modem???
Anyway, I think this whole new locking process is kind of abusive. I read many forum threads about people complaining that they had to either address to FCC or try many times with the TMO support to get an unlock for their phones even though they should have been able to do it from the app because they met the conditions.
I think this new abusive unlock method will continue to plague many new phones in the future.

Exactly! Even people who do meet the eligibility requirements still have issues using the app. When i use the app i cant even get to the permanent unlock option. It says "Device not recognized by your service provider, please call customer care". I looked up the error and Metro says it's due rooting. I've flashed the stock KDZ, removing root, several times and the message still comes up. My device actually does meet the eligibility requirements as it was active with Metro for well over 90 days but the app always throws an error. Metro has no clue how to help me and basically just says "Oh well". This new unlocking is just bs and they know it. They're trying way too hard to force people on their network. Thats bad business. The more people figure out about this stupid unlock system, the more customers they lose. I know for a fact it's modem related. Flashing the T-Mobile modem won't do anything because it's the exact same as Metros modem. The only other modem i can think that could unlock this device is Fidos Variant but i feel thats just gonna cause a brick. I remember flashing Fidos KDZ and i got a super hard brick, having to send the device to LG for repair. There is an international version of this phone but theres no way to get my hands on the modem.

I have TWRP and flashed the Bootstack as well but no changes whatsoever. I still get the nasty Network Lock message ...
I seen on youtube where some guy unlocked an S6 and removed the Network Lock message via USB. He had the phone plugged into his computer and i could see ADB shell command notifications on the phone. He wouldnt show his method obviously because he was charging people for it. So there must be away to get rid of this if the guy did it himself

T-Mobile and Metro have the same modem, so that won't work. I've already flashed the modem from the Fido Kdz and got a bootloop.
Sorry if this a repost of any nature I purchased a phone off a guy in cricket the other day who said his s4 was running faster then his s7.
so i got the s7 cheap.
I have the s7 now everything works except these factors:
1. the imei is 15 chrs and the imeisv is 2 chrs
2. i cant get it to go into LTE and the preferred networks are all 2g and 3g.
3. i have tried changing the APN's but to no avail when i type *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer i cant change it from wcdma prefferred to anything of the cdma/gsm/lte auto
the weather is stuck on London aswell.. if that helps any? and only allows update from 2g/3g network
im new to this anby havent messed with odin yet. it is unlocked for the wifi hotspot which cricket doesn't allow. which is odd to me.
tldr:
pretty much my problem is the internet is slow and the data is slow i want to be able to get it to faster speeds
any help would be appreciated

From what I've heard in other threads, I think that you have to call your carrier so they can unlock the phone. Then you will be able to use LTE, but since its the exynos it will show it as 4G, its the same thing.

My bad, I thought it was the exynos. Maybe that will help. https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...ice-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html
Also you need to make sure that your phone has all the bands Cricket uses for LTE in your area. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-G930TZKATMB
With this code you can change bands priority ##3282# but you will need the MLS code.
I'm not much of a help as I'm from Europe and dont really know about carrier phones. Seems like T-Mobile, for example, has unlocked only the bands it uses and not all the bands so you can't go to another carrier easily.
I have the T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and use it on AT&T, so you'll have no problems. Dial *#2263# and hit select all bands then hit apply band configuration. Exit and you should have LTE working. To confirm dial *#0011# and see what LTE band you're connected to.

Not sure. Hopefully.
Does anyone have any tips on how to bypass carrier lock that seems to be set up on the software side of my phone. For context:
I have had my phone over 12 months and it is paid off in full. I have requested and unlock from Boost mobile and they keep telling me they unlocked it on their end however the phone is still showing it is networked locked. I've not had any issues with them unlocking an eligible device in the past and in my experiences its usually done within 48 hours. I have been back and forth with them and they keep opening a new case and then it ends up closed stating the device is already unlocked.
I have even tried factory resetting the device after the time period. At this point I'm a bit annoyed as I have been trying to activate my new s23 ultra but my s22 ultra is still carrier locked to boost which makes re-sale harder then having an unlocked device.
I've considered unlocking the bootloader and re-flashing firmware via odin but I'm honestly not to sure if that would do anything. I have also formally filed a complaint with the FCC however that could take forever and I just want to be able to have this s22 ultra unlocked so i can activate my new phone on the line.

Also it is a SM-S908U
So even when I put in another sim it doesn't prompt for an unlock code it just indicates that it's locked to the carrier.
I have tried over and over with boost and every case they open they close within 48 hours saying it's already unlocked. I honestly don't think they are being shady I just genuinely think it's incompetence and they don't know how to unlock this device. As I've never had issues with them unlocking my devices upon request in the past.
You don't need to unlock the bootloader to flash official firmware. Instead of "re-flashing" the firmware you have, I recommend flashing the official U1 variant of the firmware you're on which is the firmware that is installed on unlocked Samsung phones sold from Samsung directly. Have done this myself in past and confirmed it works, you'll have access to all unlocked content.
Flashing firmware from U to U1 will require a complete data wipe. When you turn on your phone for the first time after flashing, ensure you remove your sim card and go through the initial set up process without restoring any data from backup using Google or Samsung. After that's done, you can shut phone off and reinsert sim card. This will prevent carrier provisioned firmware from being installed on your device which includes all the carriers bloatware. You'll be 100% unlocked running on unlocked firmware without having to unlock bootloader or root your device. Unlocking bootloader is only required when you flash unofficial ROMs. There's plenty of guides which I'm sure you can figure out how to properly flash official firmware which will confirm what I'm telling you.
After that's done, follow this GUIDE for instructions on how to unlock all US/CA LTE and NR5G bands (Includes instructions on removing FRP which is a requirement for some devices).
Thank you!
This is what I was looking for. I had already downloaded the u1 firmware last night but just didn't want to waste my time as it will wipe data again.
I'll try this out now thanks! Also does csc or home csc need to be flashed with it?

So I flashed the u1 firmware and although the "network lock status" disappeared from the settings menu it still appears the device is carrier locked to boost.
I imagine they just didn't correctly unlock on their end.
This is very frustrating hopefully the FCC complaint prompts them to take care of it.
With the u1 firmware if they were to send on their servers for the device to be unlocked do you know if that would potentially create any issues? Do you think I should flash back to the U firmware just to play it safe?
Ya no way they unlocked it like you said. I'm not sure how that would effect it. You shouldn't have to switch back. U1 firmware doesn't carrier unlock you, but it will tell you if you are carrier locked though without a shadow of doubt. Once they properly unlock you should be fine with U1 firmware. Decision to jump back to be safe is a lot of work lol. Your decision.
I personally, would try calling again and try to get a different rep who knows what to do. A lot of these people don't know what they're doing. Keep in mind, once they do unlock you, it could take a little bit to take effect (Could be instant, could take some time can't give you estimate, it was instant for me once I rebooted, but I have T-Mobile) and would only appear as unlocked after a reboot. Have you tried using a different carriers sim card to make sure it doesn't work?
Sorry, this must be super frustrating to go through. Sounds like you're at the point that nobody here could help further though. Just offering up some tips you probably already know. Good luck!
To add to that ask to speak to a higher up (account manager or otherwise) and let them know you've filed a complaint with the FCC for violating not only the law but their own terms and conditions. This should light a fire under their ass.

Yeah I have tried other carriers sims and e-sims its for sure still locked. I have been speaking with a different rep every 48 hours because i keep having to call them back. They all seem pretty clueless they just tell me they are escalating it to the managers and then when i check back after the 48 hours(because its still not unlocked) they close the case that they opened stating that it was already unlocked.
I've had a rep tell me it was something on my end maybe - that advised me i need to factory reset it - which i did for the sake of being able to tell them i did. that obviously was nothing more than a waste of time. I've had another one tell me i need to contact samsung. Which i did and samsung basically laughed at me stating that only the carrier can unlock it and that they couldnt assist me(which i also knew before reaching out to them) all for the sake of going through this whole process so that the next rep in 48 hours can try to tell me the same thing.
I will probably just dirty flash back to the U firmware - i worry that the phone may not correctly take the unlock if I'm on u1.
On u1 I get prompted for an unlock code when i put in another Sim:
On the U firmware it doesnt prompt for a code when using another sim it just give me a message to contact carrier.
Also in more connection settings on the U firmware it shows the network lock status under more connection settings whereas on the U1 firmware it doesnt.
Contacted them again this morning via chat and this is what im dealing with(I have added "Me:" to the lines that i typed to them, to help distinguish myself from the boost rep):
"
We have checked your device unlock request and upon checking here, the case for unlocking was already resolved.
ME: no it has not
they keep closing the case and have not unlocked the device
Can you please go to Settings > General > About > Look for Carrier Lock.
1) If it says No SIM restrictions, then your phone is unlocked. If it says SIM locked or anything else, it is locked.
ME: there is no general option on samsung
Please go to About phone.
ME: there is network lock status in connections > more connection settings and its still locked
I'd like to try a power cycle on your phone to make it reacquire the network after the reboot. Press and hold the power button, which is typically along the side or top of the device until the device powers off completely
ME: no i have done that many times
ME: u guys have not unlocked it
ME: i can provide screen shots proving it is still locked
Uploaded image
Please give me 2-4 minutes to check my resources for the best possible resolution for your concern. I will get back with you and get this resolved before we end this chat session.
Your device appears to be eligible for unlocking. The process can take up to two business days to complete. Unlocking a device does not automatically make it operable with another carrier's network. Even when a device is unlocked it needs to be compatible with the other carrier's network. To ensure that your device receives the unlock notification follow these instructions: You will receive a text message once your phone is unlocked. When you receive this text message, make sure your Boost SIM card is still in the device, and perform the Update Data Profile (on Android phones.) This is typically done by accessing Settings, then tap System Updates, and then tap Update Data Profile. For inactive devices, this function should be performed within 14 days of the text notification. All Android devices must have the Boost SIM inserted to receive the Boost unlock notification.
Uploaded image
ME:i have went through that process EVERY TIME my boost sim card has remained in the phone the entire time
ME: phone powered on
ME: connected to the network
Me: waited 48 hours
Me: waited another 48 hours
ME:waitied another 48 hours
The reason why it takes longer is because our specialist needs to escalate this to a higher up for full validation."
I'm just very annoyed. Thanks for trying to help out though I guess I'll just have to wait for the FCC complaint to prompt boost to get someone who knows what they are doing to take care of it.

Have done that. Per the FCC they have been served and have 30 days to reach back out to me. It's just so frustrating. I'd like to be able to activate my s23 ultra and dont want to keep waiting lol. Even when I spoke with a supervisor who sent the case to their manager i checked back after the 48 hours and they just closed it again stating the device was already unlocked. Which it absolutely has not been.
Their incompetence is mind boggling. I really hope going the FCC route will bring the resolution you richly deserve.

I could, however, most boost mobiles stores are more like authorized vendors who just operate under their name. I'm doubtful that the experience will be much better. If I get no results from the FCC complaint I'd consider trying that but im doubtful they will be any more competent.

You have already wasted a lot of time on something that shouldn't exist to begin with. This includes the long posts here on XDA. .
Since they haven't been of any help as their system incorrectly reports it having been unlocked, and each time they ask you to wait 48 hours, you're better off visiting one of their 'main' stores or the head office directly and sort this out.
May be carry a written complaint too and get them to acknowledge receiving it.
Not sure if you've seen this yet but this is somebody with the same problem you're having with Boost Mobile and actually received a solution about 45 days later. https://androidforums.com/threads/p...mobile-claims-it-is-already-unlocked.1345103/
