Hello everyone, let me first say that I searched the forums and couldn't find any evidence of this being stated so I felt it was appropriate to post a new thread but if any mods feel otherwise please remove as I'm still new and learning. I managed to get a hold of Loco Roco MC the other week and I've been having an absolute blast with it; I had never before played a Loco Roco game since I never owned a PSP. The game really kicked my ass around and finally I looked up a video playthrough of the level that was giving me trouble, level 8. It turns out that this is not level 8 but rather something like 12. Weird. Well I managed to beat it and then there's no more ****ing levels! Am I missing something? Is there a trick to get them to appear or is this only half of the game? I also noticed some of the graphics were toned down and the performance wasn't as hot as it should have been given that it was an exclusive.
I downloaded that game today morning for try it and know what are you talking about, when the download was ok i opened the game and "ok, that's ok... Very funny music and customs" but pressed start and "WHAT T......F...K!!! IT'S ALL ON JAPANESSE!!! I can't understand anything and just for it i'm stock in level 1. Is there another version on english??? Ah??!!
Only Japanese, it was never released out of Japan
Yes, it is Japanese but most games have similar menu setups and dynamics, figuring out what does what was as simple as clicking X (or L+R ). I'd highly recommend you guys give it a try if all that's scaring you off is the Japanese language format. Still really sad I only get to play eight levels because I was getting really in to the game and could have sworn it wasn't marketed that way
There are more levels when you press triangle. I think you have to unlock them.
See this map square is a level, and so is that paint one?

For some reason the paint one just takes me to a little video of those bouncy red guys talking and then shows me a picture with an X in it so I guess I have to do more before I can play the (from what I've read) minigame. The other level is a little bonus level/tutorial but beyond that there are supposed to be 8 more levels in the main game. Unless I just need to unlock them, I wish we had someone who speaks Japanese or played the PSP version here
You were right guys!! 1 1/2 day took me to learn how to play this game and yes, it's very very funny!!
100% recomended :-D
Is it on Google Play? Or have you guys got it 'elsewhere'

Actually this can be bought on the Japanese PS Store on the device. Through a special offer (or something; can't remember) you can get it for free.
How can you access the Japanese Playstation store?

I've been playing around with this emulator last night and must say it is very good. I've been enjoying Klonoa and Mr. Driller a lot.
Is there anyone who knows more about the catalogue for what other games are playable with no knowledge of Japanese?
The emulator works great with Xperia Play but unfortunately there is no way currently to have two profiles of control set up for when the games are portrait rather than landscape. The screen sits with the buttons to the right and the d-pad becomes the action buttons rather than movement, which can be difficult while getting used to a set up in a game.
I've emailed the developer with the suggestion of allowing two profiles that you can switch between in the menu - hopefully some of you will request this too after checking the emulator out.
I also requested Portrait games are flipped if possible so that the dpad and buttons sit to the left of the screen (which I find more playable as your left hand can still control the dpad)
Apart from these small problems which can hopefully be fixed this is a great emulator and is currently free. There are no save states but the games do create save files at normal save points in them so you can save progress the old fashioned way.
The games look great, by far outshining the Game Boy/colour of the time.
I heartily reccomend picking this one up while it is free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.cardboardbox.wonderdroid and if you enjoy it, turning on ads to support development and hopefully get the above, along with savestates, implemented.
I love the Xperia Play for giving us the chance to play systems that we never would have otherwise, and this is about as obscure as you can get as it was a Japan only console!
I actually own two of these, the non color and color version. Found them at a local mom and pop video game store for $30. Bought the Final Fantasy remakes for these for cheap too. Its actually a pretty good little handheld. It would be great to have an awesome emulator for it.

Got any game recommendations for someone who can't speak any Japanese?

If you look around there are several Final Fantasy games that were in JAP only but have been modded to English. If you look up WonderSwan English there is a list somewhere that details which games were in English/JAP to begin with. And list games that have been fan modded to ENG. I cant remembr the link now, but I will look for it and if/when i find it will post it here.
Pretty fun game on the vein of Elder Scrolls. Touchscreen only unless you use gamekeyboard.

True,Anyone curious why NO other smart phone company made a gaming smartphone device embedded with a gamepad???...i mean they have done EVERY KIND OF PHONE!! why leave us to hang on touch screens???...
Probably because of Sony patents and technical difficulties (slide part, hard to make something that can resist time and not copy the play system).
Also I worked in a phone shop and they didn't sell well: when a male customer was interested, his girlfriend was pretty quick to say: " What? Are you a child?"

We'll go ahead and ignore that KEMCO noted "Not Xperia Play Optimized" in the description, because the physical gamepad actually does work perfectly in every parameter from map navigation to battles and menu navigation. The only thing is that it does not show up in the Xperia Play Game Launcher (best believe I will be leading a one-man assault on KEMCO's email about this ). But even more remarkable is that the same company who has claimed the throne for Engrish has magically stepped their game up big time in translation quality.

Despite the fact I check the Google PLAY store literally 3-5 times a week specifically for Kemco games you always seem to brat me... lol. Still though as I finally finished Symphony of Eternity (loved the new opening sequences) & End of Aspiration, I can continue with another Kemco game. Thanks for the find, going to go buy it now. Also, just to confirm it appears it is not Xperia PLAY optimized... hmm.. two new kemco games in a row with no XP support... trend perhaps?
Also, I have taken to their FaceBook page to ask about the optimization of this in the game launcher and saw your comment, and I seconded it...... Also for those who wish to email the mas well and or go to their FB page here is the info:

As I no longer have my Xperia PLAY, my 17 year old nephew now has it permanently and has the time to play a lot more then I do. As such, I am unable to test the following game, but hoped by sharing it someone could test and report back if it works on the PLAY. Requires android 2.3.3 and up.

On Gin2KK. I have download it, in main menu i can navigate with dpad but once i choose level, it's stuck on loading screen. Not just stuck, it freeze phone and only thing i can do is remove battery to reset.
I'm custom 480p doomlord kernel, but i don't think it's the reason for freezing. Maybe some other users will have more luck then me with this game.

I am on official stock ROM, 2.3.4 unrooted R800i.
The game behaves the same way as the above poster said. It gets stuck on "Loading" screen than freezes the phone.
Happens all the time.
BTW the phone reboots after a while by itself, you don't have to remove the battery
At least something positive. /irony
I see two possible options what the dev will do: They will either fix the game so it runs on stock Xperia Play, or make it available only for Android 4.0 and up (more probable).
I am no expert but I have a feeling the game has problems with lack of memory, or the older Android versions.
Well, that is a shame. Hope people don't mind me posting this, was really hoping it would somewhat workable... but as I don't have my PLAY anymore I thought it was worth a shot. Sorry ya'll that it doesnt work.
I guess if a MOD wants to remove this thread, they can.
I wouldn't be so hasty about it, they might still fix the game Just saying.
I guess then, there is no point in asking about compatibility of Demonrock: War of Ages too which is from the same developers. That game looks like it will be heavy, RAM & processing wise.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crescentmoongames.demonrock
Butterscotch Shenanigans have released a new game & since they usually support the XPlay, there is some hope for that game. My XPlay isn't working, so someone else will have to test this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bscotch.roid
Funny thing is I was just about to post this.
Demonrock: War of Ages is from the same developer and it does exactly the same thing. Freezes and restarts the phone. I am starting to see a pattern here
The odd thing is that Crescent Moon Games are considered a high-profile developer on iOS, no? I sincerely hope they don't want to have their reputation blemished and WILL fix the games.
As for that other game, I will test it if it's free and will report back.
EDIT: Ok so that Roid Rage game works, I'm not sure if it supports XP controls it seemed to react to my pressing on the controller although I suspect the game is better played using touchscreen.
Let me guys suggest some other game that work on Xperia Play: Punch Quest and Marvel Puzzle Quest. I have had much fun especially with the latter, although it's a simple match-three clone you can play other people on-line (sort- of), collect characters and join events and such. And it looks nice on Xperia Play's screen.
Punch Quest I didn't play much, not exactly my kind of thing but some people may enjoy it. And it's free too.
Hello World,

Bump. I'll try to keep the bumps to a minimum, I'm think 1 every 2 days for about 8-10 days. Hopefully that won't annoy you guys too much. Thanks.
Congratz to your first game. The music is cool I find the difficulty very high, already the first level is hard and long. Maybe checkpoints could help?

Thank you very much. Yeah I had huge luck with the music, I found a very talented guy, and he made a bunch of songs of way better quality then people would expect from a game like this. I'm not sure if I am allowed to promote him with a link here, but those of you who are curious just download my game, play it a bit, and then check the credits section, his contact info is there.
As for the difficulty I am afraid there is nothing I can do since it's very subjective. You find it very hard, I have a friend who found it too easy, and another tester who found it just right.... Since all the levels in my game are hand crafted, not auto generated, there really isn't anything I can do. It all depends on how good the player is.
And I think the same goes for the lenght of the levels, doesn't it? A player who fails time and time again and has to restart the same level a bunch of times will find them long. A guy who beats the level on his first try will find it super short....
