Ok, I'm told the GS3 is supposed to get global roaming support through a software update. My question is in remote areas of the US where service is only available through AT&T (Snowshoe, WV for example) is there some way to unlock the phone to roam on AT&T's network here in the US? Would putting an AT&T sim in work? Any other ideas of how to accomplish this? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Can someone explain why it I've heard that if you take an unlocked AT&T phone like the Fuze to T-Mobile or another provider, that you won't get full 3G data speeds like you do on AT&T? Isn't an unlocked phone "fully" unlocked? What would prevent data from operating at it's fullest?
Thank you! Trying to look online to find a site that will explain this and I'm not getting anywhere.
in usa it depend on what 3g band the provider use vs. what 3g band the phone have
elsewhere it would work 100% as only usa use alternative 3g bands
So I know when I am not in a tmo area my phone automatically connects to whatever GSM network is available, if any. It's usually ATT but sometimes other regional carriers. However, when I am in a tmo area, it will show ATT as being available, but my phone won't connect to it. Is this a hardware limitation, or is this restricted access controlled by the carrier? If I unlock my phone will I be able to access a different operator?

It won't let you connect because there is no roaming and your own carrier is available. Yes, if you unlock the phone and use another sim you can connect to whatever carrier you desire as long as they are gsm. If you switch to an AT&T sim you will get 2G service only on the G2X due to baseband limitations.
Yeah I knew if I unlocked and used an ATT SIM I could access them. I was just wondering if while I am in a tmo coverage area I could access att while using my tmo SIM like I can while I'm not in a tmo area. As it is now, I can't. I'm just wondering how tmo regulates this. I want to know if there is a way to access att using my tmo SIM while in a tmo area.
Thanks for the reply.

No. TMO and AT&T are direct competitors. They aren't going to allow roaming in areas they have service. I don't even know if they have a roaming agreement for other areas. My guess would be no as AT&T doesn't want to make TMOs service work better prior to the merger.
Oh they for sure have roaming agreements. Anytime I leave a tmo area my phone automatically jumps to ATT.

I have a Verizon Galaxy Note2 with a VRAMC3 radio and was wondering how to modify it so that it will bounce various carrier towers (meaning that if I'm in an area that doesn't have an AT&T tower but does have a Tmobile or Verizon tower, it will use it). I am using an AT&T compatible sim card for Net10. I know that it can be done but haven't been able to find out how or what I need to do it with. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to carrier unlock this phone? Are the radios compatible? I really want to use this on AT&T or T-Mobile.... thanks for any ideas or help.
Radios are compatible with AT&T & T-Mobile (not all LTE bands, of course) but there isn't a way to unlock for domestic usage ATM (except by Sprint). Sprint is supposed to unlock it for you after you've fulfilled your contract. Perhaps contact Sprint Customer Service and see if there are any circumstances for early domestic unlocking.
I currently have a z flip 4 with us cellular and a pixel 6 pro on Verizon, I want to use my Verizon and us cellular number on the z flip 4, kinda like dual sim but the Verizon one as my eim but I keep running into roadblocks, Verizon says it can't be done without closing off my account and us cellular does the same anyone figure out how to get past this?
I am with US Mobile. ( Verizon's MVNO ) I activate my number with eSim with them to get up and running quickly. Then I am able to switch to the real SIM after I receive new SIM order. My guess doing reverse should be the same with US Mobile. I am not sure why Verizon not able to do this without closing account.
On tmobile they set me up to esim, no issue. VERIZON may not be fully supporting esim on androids yet, I had Spectrum which uses Verizon, and they could not set up my esim.
I was on Verizon since cell phones were invented (postpaid, prepaid, mvno), their service and coverage has gone way down hill, now I get 5g where I couldn't even get reception before. So much for keeping a loyal customer happy.

I've had issues with us cellular using an esim too because they want the physical sim to be the main sim card which I think is rediculous, and Verizon just keep giving me road blocks to getting the number ported
