Is it just me or does the rogers visual vm app from android market not work yet?? I know before the SR was not in the list of compatible devices but it has been in the list for a few weeks and it still doesn seem to work for me. Not only doesnt it work, but the damn app is HELLA annoying and keep creating notifications every couple seconds.
I called up rogers and they told me they dont see the SR in the compatibility list but if you search the app on the market and look at description its there.
I also saw a few posts where people say it works but i just wanted to confirm with people that have the rogers official app
EDIT: i do have a value pack with VVM
It's working fine for me. I hope you didn't ask them if it works on the Skyrocket as their version is called the Galaxy S2 LTE.

I have scoured thru the forums and search, but can't find an answer. MMS from any other phone works fine, but if I get a MMS from an iPhone, the picture will not download in stock messaging app. But! If I open Handcent app, it will download. Then when I go back to stock messaging app, the picture shows up as well.
Help plz!

To get any answers to your question, why are you posting on an Android forum in the first place? I don't want to speak for everyone else I know it's my opinion but posting anything Iphone is like slapping me in the face with a subpar phone? I really despise apple tactics and practices.

It's a legit issue, so pull the stick out of your rear and actually read the question instead of being a douchbag.
I have the same issue with Romracer's ICS rom.
Any MMS message my wife tries to send me from her iPhone 4 results in a message format error.
Something about MMS Adaptation deleting the MMS content.

I seem to have the same issue. I thought it was me. I have the problem with ChompSMS here. I get the picture or whatever and it seems like it will appear for a split second or two and them comes back with an error about message not found or something. Very weird. I try and open the same message in the stock app and it wont show there either. I guess I need to document more on what exactly it says or doesn't say. I remember I got a weird issue on my captivate with it as well. Except that is where a pic would always come through "playing" with a progress bar like it was a video.
Anyway.. I am running Alien 6.0 on mine at the moment.
I have answered this before in my bugs thread. If you run ANY CUSTOM ROM that has AOSP MMS. You will run into MMS pic issues from other non android phones. Search next time.

Not running AOSP MMS client. Was using stock TW MMS client.

Making the switch, as you can tell from the title. Deciding between the HOX ($50 w/ contract) or the Atrix HD (30). Ive been leaning towards the HOX and I love the display. My one big question is does it support (or possible with JB?) threaded group texting without a 3rd party app. I tend to communicate alot via group texting. From what I've read the Motorola Atrix HD does, correct me if I am wrong, and is pretty comparable in specs. Any help is appreciated.
I can't answer the texting question, but I hope the answer is yes because the phones aren't even in the same league. IMO.

JB Cm10 has group text. However if you get 2.20 update on you HOX then rooting is not an option unfortunately. I'm pretty sure the stock does as well though.

By threaded you mean kinda like a chat room style. On the stock message app all your in coming text will be separated by contacts.
Under contacts there are group actions and group text is one of the options - under cleanrom.

Yea, that is exactly what I meant. Can't believe this isn't standard across the board. Can anyone confirm that it is in the Atrix HD (Prob should go in that forum, but figured Id ask anyways). Leaning towards the HOX anyways, just wish it had that feature without having to use GoSMS or something of the sort.
Nothing like that chat thing on any android that I'm aware of. I use gtalk of Fb for that stuff.

why bother with SMS, use whatsapp. You can create ur own group, max to 30 members. Chat online real time, just like BBM, even better

This may not work for people who don't use whatsapp.
I had similar issues with using kik messenger. Couldn't convince enough friends to join to make group messages worthwhile.
I can confirm that you can send group messages with stock sms on the stock Evita, but I think responses come back individually. I'll edit this response if I find otherwise.
If somebody sends a group SMS on an iPhone, it will not be like a chat room for you. You will not be able to see everybody the text was sent to and when you reply it will only go to the person who sent it to you. Also, when anybody else who was in the group text replies, you will get each of those replies in an individual thread as an MMS.
Seems like a lot of people weren't really giving you the answers you were looking for.
Having said all that, I love my One X.

GoSMS is leaps and bounds better than stock messaging anyway
Is there a Telstra radio for the Motorola Photon Q available?
I have got my phone working on the Telstra NextG Network with the following details.
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: ASANTI_C_BP1139.000.18.09P
Telstra's 850mhz 4G Network is incompatible with my phones 4G hardware.
3G is working Fine.
I have Mobile Data with Telstra's APN's Setup
I can send and receive SMS
I can only receive MMS but cannot send without using Google Hangouts
Would anyone here have a clue as to what is going on? Please see below link with screen shots of the settings screens etc.

If you can't send MMS, I don't think your issue is the radio.
Have you checked your APN settings?
Edit - I just read thru your telstra thread, looks like you've gone thru APN's and it sounds like your "fix" is to use Google Hangouts but this isn't an acceptable workaround for you...
Not sure what else we can do for you. If it works with hangouts, then something is up with the ROM itself I suppose. Try running CM.
I don't personally use MMS, Sprint has always been terrible at it, and ever since I merged my number with Google Voice, most MMS messages just go into a black hole. I just tell people to email me pics, that works 100% of the time.
...all motorola phones from usa have problems with mms on gsm networks.
solution is install anothes sms/mms apk or install cyanogenmod....then all works fine

Do you know anyone using a Photon Q with Sim Mod in Australia?
Google Hangouts will have to be acceptable, I was just facebook emailing photo's before that. Just nice to have the phone functioning as it should.
I have been debating between Cyanogen and Carbon, but the phone is working fine on ICS and I have done major setups within Tasker and Multiple Home Screens, (Car Home V3 and Normal Home Screens) with multiple widgets. I do not want to loose this setup.
I do have TWRP installed and the phone is Rooted.

The (LAC Local Area Code) does not seem to match from my phone settings using *#*#4636#*#*

I think he means "another sms/mms apk" - as in a third party solution like GoSMS, or even the Hangouts solution you have deployed.

If I could just find a way to change the LAC: in Phone Settings,
I am guessing LAC:3250 is based in America somewhere.
LAC:12880 is definitely wht the cell towers are using in Australia.

Hey man, I've been using Telstra here in Oz on my Photon Q's for about a year now.
I'm using CM, but I have used stock before on my other Q with no probs.

The iBeige revolution and the Beige Masses that have followed each other like sheep, have ensured all that is sold is Touch Screen Only phones. I remember once upon a time when everyone wouldn't buy a phone without hardware buttons. Cheap crappy hardware QWERTY's have put the final nails in the coffin.
I nursed a HTC Touch Pro 2 for five years, replaced the bodies once a year, only thing being original was the mother board.
Same will be with this Photon Q, until another hardware QWERTY is made in the future, fingers crossed.

I have been having trouble with it on all OA8 roms. I will set my notification tone in Settings and it will play the right tone in the preview, but app notification settings that have "default" set somehow plays the last set tone. I'm having to reset inside the app. Very frustrating.

well some apps do have their own notification sound that overrides the one in settings.. that is why some apps need to be set to use the default or what you choose in settings.. either way, i know its real difficult and time consuming to set it in the app but its not something anyone can modify unless perhaps they modify each app to use it by default which is not going to happen

I thought Verizon was a us carrier lol. The answer is still the same.. this is the USA Verizon S5/sm-g900v so it will work on our device or else it wouldnt be posted here lol

Are you serious? Why would jrkruse post it in this thread if it didnt work WITH OUR DEVICE, ON VERIZON IN THE USA.
OF COURSE IT DOES. Verizon ONLY operates in the USA.
He took the latest stock deodexed L rom from the international thread and MADE IT COMPATIBLE for us VERIZON USA USERS IN THE USA VERIZON S5 THREAD AND POSTED IT HERE.
He would not have posted it here if it wasnt for our device. How is that hard to understand? There is only ONE Verizon carrier.

he would not post a rom that didnt work.. that would be pretty rediculous if it didnt work on verizon in the usa.. thered be no reason to even post it.
I assume he changed everything necessary to make it function on verizon in the usa (only place verizon operates)
and the original question clearly asks if it will work on our device which is how i answered it and that it will.

I heard that this update FIXES/Removes the issues and annoyances people were having with Lollipop's new notification system.
Don't be annoyed or feel offended or anything.
How are you guys liking this? Any pros/cons vs the VZW lolipop release posed by jrkruse?

i figured this much lol. i wasnt upset just thought i stated the obvious ha!
i think theres no comments bcuz ppl are on other roms atm... im sure if someone makes a new rom with the update more will try it out.. i might give it a run this weekend and see how it goes if i have time (celebrating someones bday this weekend)

I am going to try this because my phone got jacked all up. I am hating stock lollipop. Battery life sucks and is really slow at certain periods.
