My phone decided it wanted to go for a swim on the 4th and is dead. Tried bag of rice to no avail. I have the insurance and was given the choice of the HTC Sensation or Galaxy S2. Went with the Galaxy.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to everyone on this forum for the awesome ROM work and support over the last year or so. It's too bad we can't get the display drivers API from LG so we can get some ICS with working video love, but oh well.
Again, just want to thank everybody. I will now be hanging in the Galaxy S2 forums until my full discount comes into effect in February and I can get the S3.

It's $130, just called. My phone has been shutting off and going crazy when off the charger. Selected GS2 as well. Have to send the G2X back within 15 days.

I called in and asked them what the replacement was. They said that the G2x is discontinued and not available as a replacement, so they gave me the option to choose between the SG2 and the HTC Sensation. When I said the SG2, they even gave me the option to choose between Black or White. I chose black.

No. Your got water damage so they gonna make you pay. If it was something else like your charger port or speaker they replace for free

Yea and he more then likely had to pay. That's just how T-Mobile does. Anything aside from hardware defaults you have to pay about 100-130 not sure exact price

If you have insurance call them up tell them what happened and they will either offer you a different phone like gs2 or the same for that 100ish. I needed a new phone but they didn't offer me the gs2 they just sent me the same. But then again it was a free exchange so who knows

I had to pay too, said the phone was acting up, battery dropping quickly, had to pull battery constantly. I also told them that I stooped at my TMobile store and they suggested I call them.
I've had to pay in the past too, fire a charging port issue. I believe you always have to pay, no matter what happened. I received a refurbished phone, perfect condition.

It was $130, and worth it. Stable Ics ROM, larger screen which is beautiful and works great outdoors.

If you can read I am not the on hearing the echo. Is the person on the other end hearing themself echo when I have it on speakerphone. They say it sounds horrid and it was tested at Verizon they said it sounds terrible.

if you are outside your return window, they will refer you to get a replacement sent to you or you can call 611 and talk to a data tech support person and they will send you a replacement, but the stores will not replace it on the spot. they prob would if you *****ed and moaned for 2 hrs straight just to get you to leave... but their policy is to have a replacement mailed to you

I find being either a complete and total ****(which comes naturally to me) or knowing someone that works there solves the two hour problem. haha. I got an upgrade once when my phone died and wasnt insured. Didnt have to renew my contract or anything but walked out of there with a new phone. Granted, I cant go back to that specific store anymore, but I still got my way. haha.

That is not correct. A Corporate store will exchange the phone outright, if they have it in stock.

Probably just depends on who you speak to. I was in a corporate store yesterday and they told me they would not exchange it outside of the return window, and that I would have to wait for one in the mail. They had it in stock and everything, just wouldn't do it.
Same story. But the good news is when talking to them on the phone they said since the phone is only 3 weeks old that there are no refurbs yet just new factory replacement new phone just no box and battery and mem card. I'll wait till Monday and post if its new or and obvious shi**y refurb.

Well not that it matters as I'm pretty sure that this thread is dead, but I received my replacement today. The phone is in great shape no speakerphone issue, no dead pixels, all buttons are perfect. So anyone that has to get a CLN device don't panic it may be better than out of the box.

I'd be willing to bet my own TBolt that you will not receive a refurbished device. It will be just the handset. No battery, SDcard, etc. I have never seen a refurbished phone actually be refurbished. They purchase devices w/o the packaging and included accessories from manufacturer's. If you choose to purchase a refurb, then you get sent an actual refurb but replacements are new 99.9% of the time. My fiancee was just outside our 14 days and needed her incredible replaced. They sent a brand new "refurb" and offered me $100 off my bill since technically I paid for a new device and received a "refurbished" unit. So basically she got a new dinc for free. Not to mention the TB is so new they wouldn't even have refurbs yet. Don't get upset till you get the device, I guarantee you will be happy with it.
BTW, for those arguing over the return policy. They will refer you to a repair center for an exchange. If your in your 14 day period however, you hold the power to either get an exchange or cancel out right so they will usually do the exchange rather than risk you getting pissed and returning the phone and canceling your contract. They'll make it as if their doing you a favor but in reality you are in charge during the first 14 days.

Yes it came without a battery cover later that night though the plastic rubber piece at the bottom of the screen popped out lol. What a joke this phone is they are sending another I hate this spending money on a piece of junk. I do love the phone but UK glad I signed only a one year contract. I'm not even picky I don't care about dust under the screen or light bleed though. But really a malfunctioning speaker and this one falling apart give me a break.

So I finally had the power button sink down inside of my Thunderbolt, this is the second time it's happened in less then 20 days. Once again I sent HTC an email regarding the issue (as I did last time) but this time I recieved no help. So I called Verizon and spoke to a nice lady named Christine, who once I explained everything to her how the issue was known etc etc...
Verizon now has a reference number thats already ready in front of the reps thats strictly for this issue. I will recieve my "new phone" on Tuesday. Just wanted to post this so others who are having this isuue and even if you are out of your 14 days, even though you still have a 1 year manf. warranty, due to the high amounts of this issue, Verizon is not questioning this matter and will gladly set you up with a return.

If it's sitting lower than your volume button on the side of the phone, it's sunken in.
Mine is sunken in, but it doesn't bother me.. Doesn't effect the function at all and my case covers the button so it feels the same.

Yea I have noticed this as well. At first I was taking them seriously. Now its just too obvious.
The reference number for the insurance they have and its not "given out" to customers, it's used to easily process the claim and not ask 100 questions to you. Also make sure they don't "deactivate" your 4G Sim which they did mine, had to return to a Verizon store today to get another one. It has to have an active line, which this is what I was told. Either way I'm still expecting a new phone tomorrow, hopefully won't have this issues anymore.
And yes please make sure you un-root.

I have insurance on mine and they actually replaced it for free... I am a valued customer who pays more than $400/month though so that could be why....

I would probably take it to Sprint, I just got mine replaced not to long ago because my front camera was on the fritz, so they said it was going to be 36 dollars for the replacement, I don't have insurance. But as I walked out the door, they never took money, and it wasn't on my bill... so score I guess.

My wife dropped her epic, worked fine for about a day while the screen slowly turned black. I took it to the Sprint store, they said it costs $35 (without insurance) to replace the whole top piece. They told me the part was on back order and it has been about 3 weeks and they have still not received the part.
This is her business line (self employed) and it would be nice to get her epic back up and running, so if anyone has an extra screen or bricked or bad esn epic for sale please let me know. OP might be interested too.
ok so i just got my skyrocket about a week ago. And i dropped it and the chrome around the phone chipped pretty bad. I tried to go into today to say like the phone was laggy and stuff. Then the associate said just restart the phone. Then i asked her about what the insurance policy is and i asked about the chipped chrome and she told me to go to the AT&T service center and said they would swap it out. i went which is about like 30 min away from me and once i got there they said they wouldn't do it. Anybody know what i can do to replace it?

That, or just don't drop the thing to begin with.
You should have had a case from day 1. They will not replace a phone with serious visual defects unless the defects are from manufacturing. Also, bricking the phone will not do it either since it has been dropped. You're just gonna have to deal with it. Sorry.

Exactly we are talking about a gadget not war or chivalry.....we all make mistakes that's human nature and I'm not saying his reason is the best my rocket has taken some spills and it still works but I will say us middle class people work 5 maybe more days a week and should be cut some slack when it comes to things like this when big companies could care less I say we don't get enough from most big companies just enough for us not to leave. funny that you would say that. I ordered the tough case and since my whole community mail thing is all messed up i would thing that they would go up to your door and deliver the package. But they said they dont do that and so i had to keep rescheduling the delivery. I have it now at least. lol

My G2X flew out the window while I was driving and I couldn't find it anywhere. I pay $7.99/month for the insurance through t-mobile/asurion and I just used there website to put in my claim. They said it's out of stock and offered me a Samsung Galaxy S (lame) something Blaze or an HTC Amaze, all of which seemed way less capable than my G2X. Wondering if anyone has any advice or knowledge of these phones (less the galaxy s, I know it sucks) Wish I remembered what make the blaze was, I know that's a little vague. I called them and they said those are my only options or I can wait and see if they get a G2X in stock, or call back and see if other comparable phones become available.

Wondering if anyone has any advice or knowledge of these phones (less the galaxy s, I know it sucks) Wish I remembered what make the blaze was, I know that's a little vague. I called them and they said those are my only options or I can wait and see if they get a G2X in stock, or call back and see if other comparable phones become available.

i would get the amaze even though its htc lol. the blaze is more than likely a galaxy s blaze 4g and that has the same specs as amaze but amaze has a bigger screen with higher ppi, and the amze also has a btter camera i believe. oh and amaze already has ICS i think the blaze is pending. I highly doubt the g2x will come back in stock.

Specs wise, amaze isn't bad for your g2x. But try asking for sensation (make up a reason why you want that specific device). Its development is pretty active.

Yep, but specs aren't everything. If OP is into flashing, its where the devs are.

Yeah, but the sensation has an amazing dev community compared to the amaze.

I looked at the Amaze more and saw that it has 1.5 qualcomm dual core, 1g ram, and mhl capable, so I checked the xda forums for it and it seems to have good dev support, so I went with that one. It should be here tomorrow. Probably see you guys later in the optimus g forums, when it shows up : )

My deductible was $130, which included shipping and all. However, I also paid $7.99/month sinse I got the phone in April, 2011, so $273.82...lol

honestly thats why its a rip off to buy the insurance plans. I got my g2x in near perfect condition for 115 in june. ome people got theres for less than 100$. Sometimes there are good warranties.

Yeah, but if anything ever goes wrong with your phone, they'll replace it for $5.

If you know an insurance that replaces your phone for $5 you should let us know. That's ridiculously cheap. Mine was $130
Edit: And they didn't even have a phone to replace mine with, I had to pick from a couple other ****ty ones, and they didn't even offer me the Amaze until I called in complaining.

He means for a warranty replacement. If the phone breaks on its own, it's a 5 buck processing fee. If you do something to break it, then it's insurance deductible time
