[Q] Galaxy SIII Smart Cover? - General Questions and Answers

As part of the new release of the GSIII there is a chance to purchase a "smart cover". Essentially a back battery cover replacement that will have a cover to wrap around to the front of the phone. There is rumor of it being "smart" and waking the phone, etc.
Anyone have any thoughts or feedback on these kind of covers. Seems kinda lame for 40 dollars but wasnt sure what everyones experience with it might be, thanks!

[Q] Funny question about back cover)

Hello!
Anyone able to remove SAMSUNG from the cover?
Sort of...
Naw... not without scratching it up. BUT... you can find plenty of nice OEM looking back covers for sale on eBay.com... spend a few bucks and get a really nice back cover and keep that samsung branded one in the box for when you want to sell the phone or something in the future ;-)

[Q] Insurance That Doesn't Give You A Refurbished Phone

When I first got my Note 2, I'd accidentally drop it every once in a while. It often would just end up half way out of my shorts pocket while in the car and when I get out, it would fall onto the road. The screen always held up nicely without scratches though, until one time it hit a small sharp rock on the road and cracked. After that, I got a refurbished phone from Asurion and that screen got a crack on it in one light drop. I decided to deal with it rather than pay another $100, but then the charge port stopped working (within a month of getting it) so I got another one for free. This one is a Samsung refurbished which made me think it would be better quality but it still ended up cracking easily (I'm now throwing away my cargo shorts with pockets that easily do this). I'm guessing companies are just using cheap thin glass for the refurbished phones.
Now I'm looking into just using a family member's upgrade to get a G3. Looking at how damaged Note 2s are selling on ebay, this would be much cheaper than getting another refurbished Note 2 anyways. I am looking into insurance for the G3 and saw that Worth Ave Group pays for your phone to be fixed at a local shop or gives you a check for another so I could upgrade, or at least get a new phone. Anyone have recent experiences with them or know of another insurer that does this? Most of the reviews I've seen for Worth are bad, but they are people that expected the accidental insurance to cover wear issues, loss coverage when Worth clearly says they do not cover this, or they switched to a new phone, forgot to notify Worth, and expected them to cover a phone not registered with them.

Zenus Case for Note Edge

I bought the Zenus Case "Zenus Minimal Diary for Galaxy Note Edge" I love the feel and function well worth the price. it also allows easy access to the edge functions with the case closed. Just wanted to drop a review for ya

looks really nice and i'm tempted to get it. do you know if it has the same features as Samsung's wallet? i believe it had a magnet inside and enables some features for the edge screen.
That case is about $40 or 36 on ebay
Sent from my SM-N915P using XDA Free mobile app
no, there is no magnet function on it.
The samsung cases actually replace the back panel. They have a chip inside so it isn't so easy to replicate, at least not for a little while anyway...
The Note 3 was the same....
looks nice enough that. a bit crippling when it does not replicate the functionality of the OEM flip cover from samsung, though.
still, the original flip cover does cause some serious battery drainage (cocktail bar service). i prefer to keep my original back cover on.
the case is usually left home, unless i know i won't be gone for long.

[Q] Are there 3rd Party cases that attach like the official book cover?

As you all know, our tab has these two button-like things on the back that are actually locking mechanisms for Samsung's official book covers. Are there any covers/cases made by 3rd party brands that make use of those nifty things? I love the idea of the official book cover, but the price is rather ridiculous for something so simple.
There were some Chinese made knock-offs of the book cover on eBay that were very cheap but they seem to have stopped selling them. I'm guessing Samsung complained. I would never pay the ridiculous price Samsung charges for the book cover. I just purchased one brand new in retail box on eBay for $33. That's about what it is worth to me. BTW, it looks nice and the snap-on feature is nice but it's very light and doesn't look like it would afford much protection if you drop your tablet or store it in baggage. Search eBay for deals you may find one at less than half price like I just did.
I have looked everywhere and cannot find any.
EDIT: Found one for the 8.4. They may also do 10.5 but I haven't checked.

nice! I might give those a try. I'm very careful with my gadgets so I'm not too worried about the level of protection this type of case can provide, but my hands are small and I'd rather keep the device as slim as possible without having to worry about scratching up the back and screen when I lay it down on a table.
As a follow up question though, I saw these metal shell cases with round cut-outs in the back. I wonder if these were meant to be combo'd with the simple front cover of samsung that also plugs into the button thingies but don't cover the entire back of the device...

Lifeproof FRE case with an extended battery or a Wireless charging back cover?

I'm not too sure if this is the right place to ask all of this, but here it goes:
I'm heavily considering an S5, especially since it is has some waterproofing, has an OLED screen, and many features that budget phones today do not have. Lifeproof also offers a case(albeit expensive) that makes it much more waterproof and 'drop-proof'. Would there be any similar cases that you would recommend, that increase waterproofing and make it drop proof?
However, I'm also pretty worried about the battery life. How much time can the stock 2800 mAh battery get you? I'm pretty sure the Lifeproof case won't work with really any extended battery.
And while I don't know the practicality of it, how necessary/cool is a wireless charging cover? I think it's a really cool thing for something as old as an S5, but I'm not too sure if it's worth the tradeoff(s). I have seen posts here saying that the wireless charging cover is somewhat compatible with the Lifeproof case, but inconvenient.
A final question, although not really an accessory question, is where should I get an S5 from? Will the popular ebay ones do for rooting? I need it unlocked though

Hello and welcome the s5 is a good choice to have and it can hold its own as for the waterproof case you could just get the life proof if it suits your needs but I personally don't have one that's water proof.for wireless charging it is good for over night or if your at work but the charge rate is slow so I would just get a long charging cable
For the battery I get about 5 to 6 hours screen on time it all depends on daily usage and what apps your using
And for buying a s5 I paid £40 for mine all working but the paint has started coming off the bezel if you can get one private of sites like shpock or Gumtree then you should get one cheap if not eBay or amazon then I bought a zagg invisible shield off eBay for £0.99p and a hard case for the same price
