Thanks for your reporting. Maybe you can provide more information on which ROM version you are using, have you installed SetCPU, and can you describe more on "restart often"? Does it mean your phone will go black suddenly and reboot itself? Or do you experience a 'freeze' such that you need to reboot the machine?
Also, have you try to "flash the kernel again" thru CWM? Can you try to 'wipe cache' in CWM to see if things get better?
And, you can try 1.7, 1.6 versions of the kernel to see if they are better.
If you don't feel comfortable using those versions, you can always roll back to the stock one. Thanks

dear ardatdat,
when installing v1.8, the phone like hang when messaging and restart automatically. yes its turn black suddenly and reboot irself.

First of all, "when installing v1.8, the phone like hang when messaging and restart automatically. yes its turn black suddenly and reboot itself" is not a normal behavior.
When you flash this kernel thru CWM, it will not auto reboot your phone but instead, you need to boot the phone manually. Maybe you can pull out & re-insert your battery to flash in CWM again. Thanks. :good:

now I'm successfully install v1.8 after wipe cache and dalvik. thanks guys for assisting me.

Does this kernel supports dual boot?

Look, now I'm not a pro here....but by the description of your problem and my personal experience I have realized that these frequent reboots(screen going blank and coming back again along with start up sound) may not be a kernel fault. I had this problem a few months back....and astonishingly I found out that the cause was App2SD.....If you have many apps moved to the sd card....such problems surface....the only workaround I found was not to force apps to the external SD. Just thought of sharing this...hope this helps.

Yes you are right when some apps are forced move to sd they will work right until after the reboot where this rebooting loop phenomenon occurs

Did you install some app / did you specifically remember doing something before this boot loop started ?
However the best thing to do would be to give it to the Samsung Service Center.

This could help boot your device:
- Switch off the device.
- Enter into recovery mode by pressing HOME + VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON.
- Then clear the Cache partition & reboot.
If the handset still doesn't boot then you have two options:
- Take it directly to a service center.
- If you think you can then flash the stock ROM released for your country.
Do update here if it resolves your problem.
I think flashing the stock Rom again would help you solve some weird issues. Sometimes it works but I just don't know why.

I think you and are sailing in the same boat as i am
BTW could you list of games, where encountered such problem ??
I also started having the same problem while playing games. and later the problem increased so much much that i started having random shutdown problem..
so IMO, i would say resolve it by wipe cache, factory reset, wipe cache partition and flash stock ROM / NEO ROM.
If these things couldnt resolve, get it to SSC asap..
Do update the progress..
BTW, please change the title of the thread to 'Shutdown while playing games'
HELP doesnt sound good..

You can try booting in to stock recovery mode and try clearing wipe factory and cache partition..
However i would recomend to flash CWM and wipe thru it.....
Is recovery pre installed in the phone?

Yes. Stock recovery mode is always a part of the ROM.
you can consider CWM, as by flashing it, it always sits upon your stock Recovery mode.
and CWM has more options as compared with stock recovery mode...

Yes stock recovery is always present & you can use the following info to clear the cache.

[Q] Please Help my phone reboots when connected to network

Hi,
I have rooted my phone and flashed with RemICS -UX 1.0 directly from stock GB 2.3.5 and there was no issue. Then I flashed again with 1.5.3 and 1.5.3 fixed (later) and from this point onwards it starts showing issues. When I turn on mobile data, it will automatically switched off and not able to turn on untill connected to charger or USB. Then I continued flashing with different ROMs like CM9/CM10 Alpha,RemICS -JB ,RemICS 1.6 etc. But the same issue persists. So I flashed with stock ROM. I have first flashed to XXKPE and then to XXKPU using Odin as given in the following link
http://blog.vigitalsolutions.com/2012/08/18/upgrade-samsung-galaxy-sl-i9003-to-cyanogenmod-9-cm9/
The issue is there in both the stock ROMS and it got worse. Now whenever it got network signal the phone will be turned off. If I turn on again, then it will be on for sometime and if a call came, it will turn off. I tried everything. wipe cache, wipe dalvik, factory data etc. But no use. Now don't know what to do with this phone.
Please help

Hi! I see you are a new member, perhaps now is the best time to read the forum rules, not that you violated or anything.. just wanna inform you.
Anyway, do a factory reset.. if that does not fix it, flash a stock firmware, not just a stock rom.. flash the whole thing, and of course, do a factory reset
Hope this helps, do report back for your feedbacks! Cheers

hmm....but nothing is fixed yet. The phone is turned off in between calls or if mobile data is turned on. When I try to turn it on again, it will show the boot animation and is shutting down. It will turn on again if I connect to charger. Then will work until i get a call. It will turn off during the call. don't know what happened actually. I shouldn't have done flashing

Is the STOCK ROM really like factory?

I reverted from CM 10 alpha 4 to 2.3.6 KPE and then to KPQ using the stock roms. This should restore all as if came from factory?
I ask this because I have many problems that I can't solve.
1.- UIDs on the system are inconsistent ....
2.- The application facebook (process com.facebook.katana) has stopped unexpectedly...
3.- The application google search (proces com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) has stopped unexpectedly..
4.- Can't download apps from the market
Can anyone explain me a little bit more please? Is there any way to have my phone like factory?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your help. I'm from Argentina.
I've downloaded the Sammobile firmware for I9003 and Argentina (Movistar) in my case. The problem is that as from Sammobile, you must use Kies or OTA to update. Kies doesn't connect with my phone, and I don't know how to use OTA. I just know that OTA stands for Over-The-Air, nothing more.
Before reading this advice from Sammobile, I tried Odin, but says that I have an invalid file.

Argentina! That means ur phone is lil different compare to other country phone. Ur phone model is SL GT-i9003L & other country's model is SL GT- i9003.
Umm..then I think u should root ur phone 1st & flash loSco's qwerty rom which works for both the models.

Hi! I'm from Chile, so I have the 9003L. I've returned to stock a couple of times using the roms provided here, and I have never experienced that kind of troubles. Maybe you are not clearing cache / dalvik cache? Also I've heard that sometimes you have to flash the rom a couple of times for it to "stick" and make sure that you are using ODIN 1.83 (Dunno why, but everyone seems to say it)
Good luck!

Argentina! That means ur phone is lil different compare to other country phone. Ur phone model is SL GT-i9003L & other country's model is SL GT- i9003.
Umm..then I think u should root ur phone 1st & flash loSco's qwerty rom which works for both the models.

Thanks ElIluminado. I was flashing with Odin 0.7. I downloaded 1.83 and flash KPE again, with pit and all the files, but nothing has changed.
After dat, I flash cf-root for KPE, clear cache / dalvik cache , and wipe data/factory reset, but again, nothing changed.
I flash again KPE, wipe data/factory reset, but once again nothing changed.
(GRACIAS IGUALMENTE!!!) Thanks anyway!!!
So, I decided to flash Querty Rom as Siddhant Shankpal suggested. I follow the instructions but a couple of errors that coudn't mount /cache/xxxx appeared. After the instalation message was finished, I reboot.
Now I have since 5 minutes a black screen with a moving circle with the CyanogenMod logo, and doesn't go.
I think I can throw away this phone, but it's not mine, if from a good friend.
I rebooted in recovery and when I wipe cache partition I get:
Formating cache...
Cache wipe complete.
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: can't mount /cahce/recover/last_log
E: can't open /cahce/recover/last_log
I rebooted adn the same, the CyanogenMod logo and nothing happens.
I can't believe we can't find any solution!!!!
Thanks to all!!!

So I went to sleep leaving all night the phone with the CM on, and I woke up and still there.
I've already data reset several times as you can see from my previous post:
I rebooted in recovery and when I wipe cache partition I get:
Formating cache...
Cache wipe complete.
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log

Stil there, so I think I'm going to revert to KPE and KPN again, even I know the errors will stil be there... :crying:
Seems that CM10 querty was not a solution for my problem ...
Umm then I don't have any other answer for this.
Maybe ask someone who owns same model like yours to come back to stock with no errors. Ellluminado has the same model, so maybe he can help u out.
Good luck!

Camera problem

Hi people I have been using my Nexus 5 for a month now. Loving it! Going stock with Elemental 26 kernel, dalvik
This happens quite random, not often but it is annoying. Camera stops working.. I start it up.. And it just.. Black.. Waiting until it says "camera stopped“ a restart does help, but I have Sometimes missed some shots because of this.
Anyone that have experienced this and have a permanent solution?

To try in order - step by step if the previous didn't solve the problem:
1. Clear app data
2. Flash the stock kernel
3. Factory reset
4. Clean installation
5. RMA...
I had it on my previous device and it was a hardware bug so :fingers-crossed:

Thanks! Clear app data haven't worked, so will try to flash the stock kernel when I get home. Will get back to this thread if the step doesn't work.
And.. RMA?

Send your phone back to Google for repairs.
I've had this issue once while on CM11. A restart fixed it, leading me to believe it's a ROM/Kernel bug, and also hasn't happened on the latest nightly. OP, try a different kernel version.

I am on stock, maybe it is kernel related.. I don't know. Don't want to blame the kernel just yet. But 26 is the latest. Waiting for an update, maybe try another kernel and see if that help, if the problem occurs again.

Flashable zips of stock kernel are available here. You can also fastboot flash the boot.img file from the factory images.
