Reception?? - Motorola Atrix 2

How can i improve my reception? ?
Sometimes when people call me they complain that my phone was not reachable..
Sometimes i dont get any speed over gprs even on full bars
what should i do?? Im on stock rooted an supercharged script v6

That could possibly be your service provider fault.
If you like to improve your network you can try build.prop tweaks from here:

Before you start digging into build.prop settings, take your SIM card out and get your service provider to replace it. Start there! Otherwise, if you are still having issues with reception, you may need to try and re-flash the rom you are running, as the radio may be somehow borked. But, start off with the obvious possibilities first, then if need be we can look at some other possible solutions for you...

Ill replace the sim ... nd flash a stock rom ....
Will get back to you after i do that.

Tmobile UK Radio Rom 1.27.12.17 any good?

Im currently using 1.27.12.11 radio rom - i find that it looses signal quite a lot has anyone on tmobile had any experience of using 1.27.12.17 and does it improve signal and battery life?
hey i would have to say that i get a poor signal around my house...had the mda vario..and wherever i am in my house i get full reception with that

I'm having horrible problems with my vario3! People can't even call me, says that i'm unavailable... sometimes it won't send text messages, I can't make calls on it!
I'm going to send it back and see if they can fix it. My second vario so far.... first one kept on freezing.
Has anyone got the full t-mobile rom? I want to flash my phone to see if that helps but I want to be able to get back to factory t-mobile rom if I need to send it back for warranty.
Can someone post the link in its entirity please?
The link shown is not working

Try that.
The thing I've most noticed about this radio stack is the improvement to BlueTooth. It seems to hold onto 3g/hsdpa signals better as well.

But radio ROM isn't related to BT or Wifi functions...
Anyone have tried this Radio ROM and can post compared results with the 1.27.12.11 about 3G coverage and battery consumption?
Thanks.
Hmm interesting might have to try this radio ROM myself... anyone else tried it and noticed better signal/HSDPA signal etc?

I install this ROM and found no major problems till now, everything looks the same as vers. .11 only I had 1 problem with .11 I must always click a few times on the send button with a incoming call before it connect now only 1 puss and it takes the call
Installing this radio now, report very soon... bye
No any problem reveald during the new radio installation.
Phone restarting normal, no problem.
Installed on no branded Htc Italian phone.
Test in progress for duration life battery and antenna function, bye
First impression 3G signal are more stable(first only one line power) at this moment same position have a maximus power, no disconnession and work very good, and more better reception.
For battery report, wait same day of use.
Bye
Same impressions as previous post, stable, signal seems to be more powerful, for battery you have to wait
Bye and tnx u all !!!
As per the other replies, I too am experiencing better hold on signal.
I also note that the radio seems to update loss of signal faster than .11
(Installed on an unbranded HTC TyTN II - UK)
Yes, another good report....

[Q] I need major HTC Evo Help

I've had my Evo since June. The battery life was NEVER good. I have rooted it since then and currently using Myn's Warm ROM.
I literally have THE WORST BATTERY LIFE!!! I take my phone off the charger and no later than 3 hours its already hooked up to a charger. I have tried downloading programs to help overclock (unclock).. and it's not helping. I've read many different Roms can help.. but i MUST HAVE MY 4G (Rarely on, but when I need it, or want it.. etc..).. also my 4G speeds are horrible!!!
I would greatly appreciate any help from some of the Pro's on this matter!!
Thanks,
MiamiBoi

First try recalibrating your battery. That should help a lot. If your battery life i still not that great, consider flashing a different kernel. I know that Myn's Warm ROM comes with HTC Stock #10 kernel, so you have to make sure you disable Perflock in SetCPU or underclocking won't do anything.
Also, yes, 4G rapes your battery hard. And also on Myn's ROM, 4G has been known to get "stuck", meaning that even after you turn it off and it says it's off, it's still on even though you're using 3G. You have to reboot after you turn it off. RLS4 Final is out tomorrow though so it should hopefully be fixed.
Also my phone is ALWAYS going to Roaming.. I am a newb when it comes to this.. so hopefully I can figure it out... I would HATE to have to go back to stock Evo

And thanks Product F(RED) for taking the time to leave me that advice.
Sorry Miamiboi. I typed that because I'm sure you just forgot to say it
screen brightness, background apps, the usual suspects. These are the things you need to also look at. Everything Product F(RED) told you to do, you need to try. But all of the apps that people want to keep running, data, screen brightness, bluetooth. These are things that people never think of when it comes to battery life (not saying you don't). I'm guilty of doing it and I'm sure there are many others here also. I don't care how much it does, it's still a phone and is going to have some limitations. Until they figure out a way to put a long lasting battery in a phone, suggestions like Product F(RED) made are just about all you can do. Of course, try turning some stuff off also..lol
Oh yeah, the roaming thing is going to happen in a lot of areas these days. There are so many companies out there these days (some smaller ones per state we dont even know about) that you are going to hit spots where you on another network. I live in Panama City and just driving along the gulf through Destin and other places my phone is roaming on and off all the time. Of course my luck, someone is going to come along, read what I just typed and tell me that I could fix it with a new radio..lol. Actually, I kinda hope that does happen..hehe

My apologies this is the first time I've asked for help. I thank you kindly. I will do all of these and let you know the results. Once again no disrespect was meant by NOT thanking you.
P.s. The reason I mentioned the roaming is I read somewhere that certain wimax updates were causing this to happen in general. I am a newb to this so I could be totally wrong..
Thank you again,

What you can do in regards to fixing the roaming issue is go into Settings -> System Updates -> Update PRL (Preferred Roaming List). Sometimes this will give you better signal. And besides, you shouldn't worry about Roaming because Sprint and Verizon have a roaming agreement, so you don't get charged for data or texting. Voice minutes are just pulled from your pool of minutes.
I'm not sure what you mean by WiMax updates. You shouldn't upgrade your WiMax radio because each Evo has a unique key. Flashing a WiMax radio image from the internet overwrites your key with somebody else's and then both of you will lose WiMax access. If you absolutely must try it, make a Nandroid backup using Amon-Ra Recovery. Clockwork doesn't backup your WiMax image.

Thank you once again.. I don't mind the roaming, only that I cannot send or receive text messages, nor can I receive or make calls. My settings should allow me to do everything I need.. but it's not working. Is anyone else having this issue ?

[Q] Better Reception?

I have I think a kind of strange problem. I've had my V or a few months now and all of a sudden it doesn't get move than 2 bars on the reception scale where as before it used to get 3-5 sitting in my rec room. Don't know what changed other than adding and removing some apps that I wanted to try out. Don't know which are still there that weren't before but wouldn't think that apps would cause the reception to be poorer.
Thought about an antenna booster/adapter/extension but thought I'd ask others first.
Also, anyone added any antennas to theirs? I noticed there isn't an external connection for one and everything I've read so far talks about add one with the external connection.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try updating your PRL

My optimus had problems like that too, but after upgrading my by rom, baseband stuff is quite better.
Which one are you using ?

Agreed, Updating the PRL is highly recommended.

Have you really noticed a difference by upgrading your PRL?
Don't know what PRL is
In reading all the responses I was afraid since I don't know what the PRL is. Several places warned against changing things in the PRL if you don't know what the PRL is.
I have rooted my phone and have changed the rom a couple times including bricking it a couple times but had a backup so I recovered but don't know what the PRL is so didn't try that avenue.
Jim
I flashed my PRL today and could only get data to work. SMS and Phone stopped working so I flashed back to my original PRL. I think it was trying to connect to the tower closests to where I was, but told me to call customer service If I wanted to use it.

Recently I upgrade my ROM to cyagenmod 10.1. It shows the signal is very poor, but I did not face the issues on call receiving/making. This is the known issue ( fail to refresh the signal strength in status).
Also faced some other issues ( phone hang while call is coming in 'phone locked' condition'.
Finally changed the OS to Android 4.2.1 & PAC-MAN 19.9.0. Except the battery drain issue, no more issues now.

[Q] Have to Reboot to get the Network Back<<<<

ok, so i have this thing for a lil over a month now i think maybe more....
but i have noticed that no matter what Rom or Kernel, even Stock.
if im in an area where i lose signal.....it may NEVER come back unless i reboot my phone. not a big deal in most cases but unless i look to check i may have no network for a couple hours before i notice that i have to reboot my phone. which means i get no calls and no text.
is there a fix for this or is this just something that i am experiencing??

that is strange that it does not auto-reconnect. my suggestion would be to try a different modem than the one that you have been using, if you have not already tried all 3. find them here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173704
both odin and cwm flashable versions. maybe you'll have better luck with signal with a different modem, so that your signal doesn't drop completely at all.
on my SD card i have had all three modems for a while now that i had been flashing to see which one i would stick with. but my phone has been doing this since day one. on any rom or kernel or modem. i just wanted to know has anyone else seen this or is this just specific to my phone........
at that point i would be looking to get another one.

you may not have to reboot - have you tried just toggling airplane mode on and then back off? that restores data when it goes out for a lot of people.
if you've tried that, and it doesn't work... not sure what to tell you, except to exchange the phone.
i rarely ever have a strong signal - usually worse than -100 dbm, especially at my house - but i've never had the problem you are describing.
hope you get it worked out. maybe contact at&t or samsung for support also, while you are on the stock ROM.
So far the airplane thing seems to work. so i will ride with that, it doesnt seem to happen but once a day or so......so if i can just do that then i will just deal.
thanks for the idea bruh.

Sudden Connection Loss

Friday evening when I went to sleep I had a great network connection. Saturday morning, when I woke up, my phone woulodn connect to T-Mobile's network and it hasn't ever since. I've tried new sim cards, tried searching for networks, even flashed back to stock and unrooted. Everything else on the phone works perfectly, I just can't connect to mobile network or data services. I didn't perform any updates or anything to provoke the problem, it just kind of happened. Any others withsuch an experience and any other ideas on how to fix?
Is it just the data or is it also affecting your calls? If it's affecting your calls too then I have the same issue which points to the radio/baseband.

It is both the data and call connection. My phone permanently says no signal and I can only make emergency calls.

A T-Mobile rep helped me for about an hour. They "reset all the settings" on my account, checked for any problems on my account, and ultimately found nothing.
sorry to hear that
assume you are not rooted
if no other answers come along, and you want to--
you could root and look into changing radios, lot of research needed and you will need to learn fastboot/adb
just depends how much phone is worth to you with no radio
not under wty i assume

Not rooted anymore. I was rooted and running EnergyRom when the problem occurred, so I flashed back to stock thinking it might be a problem with the ROM.
oh, ok
well don't know if re-rooting and flashing a new radio will help
if you re-root I would reformat your sdcard and wipe everything including system 3x in recovery before flashing a rom
kinda a completely fresh start
awesome has a couple wipe scripts on his thread in dev section also, one is kernel wipe
not sure what else to suggest
backup sdcard and phone best you can before doing anything
