Help switching back to stock from CM9? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I'm sort of still a newb to android stuff. This tablet is my 2nd android and I managed to get CM9 on here, after installing some weird recovery through goo manager (other methods of getting Clockwork weren't working for me) I liked the stock from a lot better however, and I would like to switch back. Unfortunately I don't have a backup. I've done a search and haven't found anything. Could someone help me out with this seemingly easy problem?

just dl the stock you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
extract the zip one time. You have another zip than. Place it on your internal sd.
Go to recovery (must be CWM) and flash the zip:
install zip than choose zip, than find the zip on your sd. than scroll down the no´s till you see a yes and choose this option.
If you dont have CWM recovery installed, take a look here and follow the video guide for fastboot to install CWM again.

So I need cwm? I can't use the recovery that I got from goo manager?
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium

You should go to asus webpage and download the latest firmware that is for your model. Go to settings on your device and at the latest tab see what version of firmware you have. You are looking for US or WW or another. Then go to asus site at download section and download the correct update that suits u. Unzip it once at the main catalog of the tf300 storage and reboot your machine to recovery (turn off and then turn on by pushing volume down and power until u see some message at the top of the screen. Then release the 2 buttons and push volume down and you will be at recovery menu. There choose wipe data/ factory reset and wipe dalvik cache and choose install zip, choose the zip that u previously unzip to your device and confirm to install it. When it is done after about 3 minutes reboot and u are at the latest stock firmware.

I got this tablet from the UK. Do I still use the US firmware update? Also, what do you mean by main catalog?

Yes you need cwm. For some reason team win recovery won't flash the stock firmware. It's nice and continues to get updates but they don't have our device. It will eventually get ironed out but for now cwm is needed to return to stock. At least that's how it is on my device and some others here on xda.

Nice list. One thing that sometimes trips people up when installing Open Recovery using Dexter's apk: you must have the SD card mounted on the phone when you install Open Recovery (i.e. USB Charge Only mode). The easy way to make sure this is true is to unplug USB. Otherwise "install recovery" will report "success", but Open Recovery won't actually be installed.
TL;DR: unplug the phone before you press the "install recovery" button in step 3.

Hello All,
I'm knew to Android but since I got my XT720 I have been looking for ways to make it better since it doesn't have a lot of internal memory. I would also like to share how I installed it GalaxyXTv4.
I basically followed this Video
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943368
I download it the Galaxy from using this link
http://www.multiupload.com/VAIZTZJWMM
Finally I downloaded the whole root and openrecovery using this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946973
I also replace the content of the openrecovery folder with the extract of the GalxyXT, and the followed the Video.
The only difference is that I did reset everything cache, davlik, and factory defaults. When the phone rebooted, I was doing the initial setup and the phone rebooted itself twice, so I decided to remove the microSD card let the phone boot and then add the SD card back, I formated the card using the phone option and it has been working great (only a few hours since I installed the Galaxy).
The phone is performing better than when I was on 2.1 with apps2sd and definitely better than using 2.2.1 v4 BLUR make

Edit: Managed to get back into Openrecovery to wipe all 3 cache things. Now it's working okay.
After I format the SD card, I put to the phone, and it is not able to be read anymore. Please help

ICS installation for HTC Wildfire S

Cud anybody help me with the istallation procedure for the following link..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683874
Really confused here and wanna install ICS 4.0.4 for my phone :/
0. Make sure you're rooted
1. I think you also need s-off
1.5. Download the ROM file, and the Gapps file
2. Flash a custom recovery, such as ClockWorkMod. The easiest way is to download ROM Manager
3. Boot into that recovery. This can be done by using ROM Manager, or some device specific method (search it)
4. Make a backup (use the volume keys to navigate, select and back buttons are different for each phone, but should be easy to figure out)
5. Clear data/factory reset. OPTIONAL: under advanced clear dalvik cache
6. Install zip from SD card, navigate to the downloaded ROM, and select
7. Let it install, then install zip from SD card again, but this time select the google apps file
8. Reboot and enjoy! First bootup will always take longer than normal.
NOTE: since you do a factory reset, its a good idea to backup your apps with titanium backup, and various other things (like sms and mms) with mybackup root
This is the procedure for flashing any non-Sense (lol) ROM as well
Hope this helps!

I really doubt the Wildfire S to be powerful enough to manage running ICS smoothly.
Anyway, good luck!
Rooting the phone is such a pain in the ass wid the bootloader requiring as many as 14-15 software's installed b4 it can work properly and also crashes everytime!!

Can anyone help me out by giving me a step by step instruction on flashing bean's build 5?
I'm having a lot of trouble, it's either it will load and give me an error about how something keeps crashing or just stay permanently on the jelly bean screen forever (30 minutes) before I backed up to my old settings.
Could you make it as thorough as possible starting from ez recovery?

Just to start off, you're unlocked using EZ Unlock v1.2 correct? You can download it here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/
Make sure to download a new copy of Beans Build 5. Move the Beans Build 5 zip to the root of your sd card, outside of any folders. Check the md5 of this zip for file integrity. Aight, starting from EZ Recovery...
1) Open EZ Recovery, make sure CWM 6.0.1.0 is selected, now tap "Flash" to properly install it.
2) Tap "Reboot Recovery"
3) Make a Nandroid aka backup under "Backup and Restore", this takes a few minutes.
4) Now that your backup is complete. Wipe data/factory reset, go under "Mounts and Storage" then Format System.
5) Install Beans JB Build 5.

What's considered a full wipe? Factory reset yes....from CWM menu yes?
I'm using the ez unlock downloadable from the Play Store.
Here's what I do, backup my old settings, then wipe data/factory reset, cache and the devlick. Then I install the ROM along with the kernel,
I've found out that if I format system, the ROM wont boot up and will stay at the jelly bean screen forever.

What is your md5 for the Beans build 5 zip?
Either use "ES File Explorer" from the Play Store,
-click on the Beans Build 5 zip
-scroll down to properties and select "Show checksum"
-check "Md5" then Calculate
OR
Download this and check the Md5:

I've never used the cnet link by the way.

Difficulty Installing Custom ROM

I'm having a lot of difficulty installing a new ROM on to my Sidekick 4G. I root my phone using SuperOneClick. After that, I downloaded Quick Boot, Root Browser, and ROM Manager. I use ROM Manager to get a custom recovery image through CWM. With Root Browser, I copy the Recovery file and paste it to /system/bin and overwrite the recovery file that's already in there. I use Quick Boot to reboot into Recovery. This is what I did when I went into Recovery.
1) Reinstall Packages (Stock Recovery)
2) Install zip from SD Card
3) Choose zip from SD Card
4) I picked whatever zip file had the custom ROM on it
After the installation, everything is fine. Its says its successful or completed. But when I reboot it, the screen is stuck on the screen where it says "T-Mobile Sidekick 4G". I've tried different ROMs and they've came out with the same outcome. And after I do install a ROM and fails, I have to go into Download Mode and unroot the phone again. Its getting a bit tedious and annoying.
You did it wrong
Reinstall packages (stock)
Factory reset/ wipe dalvik an cache
Mounts! Make sure system is unmounted
Then install zip
Reboot system

[Guide] All you need to know to get Android Lollipop running on your Xperia L

You've stumbled across here because you're either a noob, or a very confused person, or ran across some errors that made you choose another ROM. (Or some random lurker) I've created this thread to make it as detailed and user friendly as possible. Anyways without further ado:
I will not be responsible for anything that happens to your device. Follow my instructions carefully, and everything should work fine. This thread is here inorder to prevent the constant reporting of misleading bugs due to a dirty or unorganized way of flashing roms.
Click to collapse
Instructions for installing Lollipop:
Requirements:
- Bootloader unlocked Xperia L
- USB cable for the phone
- A computer with flashtool installed along with the necessary drivers.
1. Download the latest version of CM12 or any other lollipop rom along with the Gapps package. I recommend that you use this (use 5.0x for CM12). Download Thunderzap 4.1 as well. (Don't ask why, but make sure you have this in your computer.) Place the ROM and gapps zip files in your SD card or internal storage.
2. The best way to install any custom ROM is to flash them coming from a stock rom. (Skip this step if you're already on stock 1.17) So if you're not on stock, go ahead and grab an FTF from my thread. (Latest version 1.17 - recommended) Flash the stock rom. If you don't know how to do that use this guide as a reference. Do NOT exclude anything.
3. Now you need to flash a custom kernel. To do this, locate and extract the thunderzap 4.1.zip you downloaded earlier on your computer. Then pull out (or copy it somewhere else) the bootjbcwm.img file. You'll need to flash this file via fastboot. If you know how to do that, skip the next step and proceed to step 5.
4. Power off your phone. Open flashtool and select the flash icon. Now hold the volume up button and plug in your Xperia L to your computer via USB. Select fastboot mode. Under "By DoomLoRD", select the option, "select kernel to flash". Now right above the open button you should see an arrow where it says *.sin. Select that and choose *.img. Locate the bootjbcwm.img file and select it. In a matter of seconds the kernel should be successfully flashed. Now turn on your phone, and hold the volume up button when the LED lights up. You have now entered CWM recovery.
5. Enter CWM recovery if you haven't. (when turning on your phone, and hold the volume up button when the LED lights up.) Once you're here select factory reset and select yes. Then select wipe cache, and under advanced select wipe dalvik cache. Once you've done all of this go back, and select 'mounts and storage' and select wipe system. Now go back and select Install zip, and locate the CM12 (or any other lollipop ROM) zip file. Flash the CM12 zip file and allow it to be completed. Once completed flash the gapps zip file.
6. Now go back and select reboot system. If it asks you to root select no. And there ya go! this is all that you need to do for a clean installation. This method allows to reduce the existence of bugs encountered due to dirty or a disorganized way of flashing roms. Sit back and relax and allow your phone to boot.
Instructions for installing root: (CM12)
Instructions for enabling root on Lollipop:
1. Go to settings. Scroll down and select(tap) build number, 7 times to enable developer options.
2. Return to settings and select developer options. Scroll down and select Root access. From here you can select either Apps only or Apps and ADB to allow root access. For starters you can select apps, and for those who are well aware of what ADB means you can select Apps and ADB. I won't be telling you what ADB means, you can Google this yourself.
3. Exit settings and open up playstore. Search SuperSu and download it. Once it has been downloaded and installed, open it. It will display a message saying, "SuperSU binary needs to be updated." Select continue, and then it'll display a message with the options, "Normal" and "TWRP/CWM". Select Normal, and any moment a message from privacy guard should appear. Make sure you check the "remember my choice" button and select grant.
4. Once granted permission from privacy gaurd, it will ask you to reboot, so reboot your phone.
5. There you go, you got root access now quit buggin people will ya!

My tutorial on the first post is about installing CyanogenMod nightlies for the first time. It's always best to go from stock. I know he's fixed TWRP but still, when its your first time, that's the best way to go. However after you've flashed CM12, you can either use his recovery for dirty flashing and clean flashing (Wipe data, system and cache).
I'm busy so I'll get back to this later.

You can use Bluetooth and copy data via USB. I don't know about USB charging, maybe someone else here can answer that.
About moving apps to SD card, you can move certain apps to your SD card, by navigating to settings>apps. This doesn't let you move all of them, only some. Using the gapps package provided in this this you shouldn't worry too much about space unless you're gonna be installing 4+ drawers of apps lol.
