Removing SD Card? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to remove the SD card in the Nexus S? I know there was a way to remove it in the HTC HD7, which also had a built in 16gb card, so why not this device?
I have a 32gb SD card laying around, curious if I could replace the existing card with this one.

Why would you remove it in the first place ??? all video's, pictures etc will be stored there when you use the camera.

I understand that, neither did the HD7, but it had a micro SD card implanted into the phone. Assuming the Nexus S actually has a micro SD, why can't it be swapped out with something else?
Here is the HD7...

Nexus s has no hidden slot. It's impossible to change it with a newer card.

[Q] SD Card Fills Up Too Fast

I have a question for everyone.
Are you guys having problems with the internal sd card on your one s?
My sd card gets filled up really quick. I dont have alot on it. Only About 2.6gb of Music & 1gb of Videos
Thats all... The MAX I have is about 4GB with some roms and gapps etc.
If you guys had this issue before how did you guys fix it?
I just barely re-formated my sd card to fat 32 on my mac.
Thanks in advanced

I've been in the same spot. I didn't think I put much stuff on my phone and kept running out of space. Then I found an app from the playstore called "Disk Usage." It's a graphical representation of your phones storage so you can actually see what's taking up space. In my case it's almost always forgetting to delete old back ups. You should try it.
Check it out.

Let windows 7 scan and fix?

If i had a normal sdcard i would just do it but idk about the one s, what do you think?

Backup the SD card and then get the phone to format it under settings/storage.

I just ignore it, windows 7 is horrible at reading sdcard partition tables and I have corrupted more cards allowing it to 'fix' them. If you want to reformat the card get a program such as sdformat as this offers a much better block unification than windows 7 or any windows version for that matter.
Or just dont care about it. I got a USB stick that windows been whining about for... oh i dunno... 3 years now? Still works perfectly fine

Nope not at all, I did something similar to what Darknites is saying when I basically deleted my sd card during recovery reset and Win7 worked like a charm and I was SO happy that I did not have to loose anything.:good:

Nope wrong issue lol the sd is working fine but for reason once in a while windows wants to scan it.
Windows normally starts crying if you remove a removable device without using the "safely remove hardware" bull**** first.

[Q] Copying contacts to 100's of sim cards

Hi,
I have to copy 2-3 contacts onto hundreds on sim cards.
Ideally im looking for a product that I can insert a sim card (preferably before it is removed from the credit card sized plastic holder) and copy the 2-3 contacts onto a sim manager, then simply insert a black sim, and have the device copy the few contacts across to it.
I have about 700 to do, which is why I prefer to use a device that will accept the full size card (before removing the standard/micro sim card)
Thanks in advance.

Where is my Mini-SIM card slot?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100,
Also... Whenever I read about it, gsmarena keeps saying it has a micro sim card slot.
Also, is there any difference between "p5100" and "gt-p5100" or is it just added and removed?

These two are absolutely same. Gt is some naming convention used by Samsung to distinguish between their models. What kind of slot do you have? is it mini or micro ? it must be Mini because Micro-sim card slots are recently adopted by most of the companies.

I suppose its region specific then. which region you are in ? AFAIK, P5110/P5113 models does not have Sim card slot.I always gets the same result on google saying " Mini sim card slot" for your Model P5100....It seems samsung/gsmarena is fooling around people by providing fake specifications...

I am in Ireland but it seems the tablet was originally bought from Spain, as I got my tablet from Swappa.
How do I know?
Once, I messed up the OS, but sometimes I'd get lucky and see a Android installation screen, the touch screen was not working, but everything was in spanish.
Anyway, I just can't find the sim card slot on it.

The P5100 (Tab 2 3G + WiFi) has room for a normal sized sim card and is located here

Sim card size (Most left)
Can't find it, only have SD card.
What would happen if I would insert a sim into the SD card slot
I use a case, just looked on the back.
I have p5110, although I am using p5100 ROM and it works perfectly.

Splitting SD card for internal and general storage?

Hi,
I have Moto 4G Plus, with latest Android. It has 16Gb internal memory which is not enough.
I bought good samsung SD card for 128Gb and now I have a choice
1) Use it as general purpose storage. Pros: Can copy movies, audio easily Cons: Cannot move apps, still not enough space,
2) Use it as internal storage. Opposite as 1.
Is it possible to split 128Gb, sd card and use 20 Gb as internal storage and the rest as general purpose SD card?
What would be the best strategy here? If I make it as internal storage, then moving and managing audiobooks, movies and music would be quite hard (maybe there is a better way)?
Also, I would prefer not to root my android.
Many thanks for all advices in advance.

You can do it using ADB shell (without root) or a terminal emulator (if you have root):

Thank you! It seems it worked! Only thing that it's showing unmounted sd card. But I guess I can live with it.
