I apologize as I'm sure there is another thread but I couldn't find it through the search. I am looking for suggestions on a custom ROM, Stability, Performance, Battery Life, Hopefully with increased jpeg quality, and full camera performance. I use my phone on WiFi quite a bit so it would be a plus if the rom had amplified the WiFi to like 15 or 20db.
I'm uncertain as to the development of ICS on this device, But I just came from ICS on my Optimus One which ultimately lead to my device being bricked randomly after beta testing. I absolutely loved ICS, but if the rom isn't stable enough to use as a daily driver then I would rather wait... (and by stable I mean past alpha status, functional beta is stable for me... I did tons of beta testing for Optimus One so I know what to expect as far as stability goes with works in progress)
So if you guys could link me to some of the best ROMS for this device it would be much appreciated.
Good question, this is my second rooted device so my exp. is limited, and ive tried several roms pyroice desensed 1.1.2 most recently and i couldnt get the web browser to load (which oobviously sux). But im runnin doubleshot lite and its pretty much the basic system debloated, and very stable

Which web browser were you using? I know that in the development for ICS for Optimus One, there was an issue with the stock browser and Cyanogenmod 9. I know that Opera or QQBrowser was their temporary solution.
My favorite rom is Bulletproof because it has all the features of our phone, and no bugs that I have noticed. I know alot of people prefer other roms because they are faster, or they are ics, but Bulletproof is the only one that hasn't cut out features, and it doesn't have alot of bugs....

Any PyroIce Rom is amazing.

Using the Bulletproof Rom, mostly because everything actually works.
Tried the an older Cyangen7 mod, but the battery got way too hot and could never charge beyond 40%
Tried the ICS rom and there are some apps that need to be re-sized, mounting the SD card as a flash drive doesnt work (not into paying 5$ for a widget), problems with wifi tethering to my wifes tablet.

Just for the record, skialaska, Blue6IX here is the one who created the Bulletproof ROM and I really have to agree with him on this. I feel that tbalden has been doing a great job of contributing a lot of time to multiple different ROMs for different demographics (sense vs nonsense vs cm9) and I really appreciate all of the effort that he has put into the development on this phone.
Personally, I don't like the Sense UI much, so Bulletproof isn't for me. I actually use tbalden's Pyroice desensed ROM. I do, however, respect greatly the amount of work that Blue6IX has put into developing a solid ROM and all the research into the limits of the machine in both speed and voltage.
If you can't respect the developers that donate all their free time to making our devices work better, then you probably don't belong here.

Lol Blue6IX didnt create bulletproof. Romanbb did. Blue only took over the project when romanbb hauled ass. Just an FYI.

My apologies, I meant no disrespect. I just see Blue6IX on the posts and he's maintaining it. I didn't realize that it was created by romanbb.
At this point, I think skialaska is just trolling. Best ignore him and move on, methinks.
Whew, had to do some serious cleanup... I know, part of it is my fault, I've been away (70hr weeks will do that to you).
Anyhoo, let's not bicker lest I have to close this thread. These "Best ROM" threads are always very polarizing and full of personal opinion - let's do our best to not attack others work, and just state what we feel is best and why. No need to put down other builds/ROM's because you don't like 'em!

Alien Mod Solar Flare

Hi WeekendsR2Short,
I couldn't find anywhere to mention this that I could post to since I'm a new member and can't post on the actual developer page for the Alien Mod Solar Flare that you created. I actually had more success with Play Store with the zip integrated with the GApps.
First off, I highly recommend this mod to anyone because of it's amazing speed. I installed it as an upgrade from 2.3.4 and I really don't want to go back. So, I want to keep it, but I've run into some problems that I need your help with. I hope I don't get banned or anything for posting this here. My apologies if this should go somewhere else.
1. Any web browser I use, stock or dolphin mini, crash after accessing pages. Chrome installs, but crashes when I load a page "Unfortunately, Chrome has stopped."
2. When loading, Netflix goes back to my apps list after a second on the red splash screen.
Steps taken during install:
1. Formatted sd card to ext4
2. Then I followed the install instructions listed on the main page in red and black using "AlienMod Solar Flare Series V XXX 4.1.2 (DS).zip" through clockwork mod
3. After the install, I "Then flush Dalvik & fix permissions" according to your later instructions.
Could my crashing apps be related to flash content not loading? I'm really stumped here.
Thanks again for your hard work and I truly appreciate any input because I really don't want to use any other rom!
Yeah, there was a browser issue that popped up for a few people. It just kinda appeared in the port & I never could figure out what it was or why it wasn't consistent. As for the apps....shoot give it a try your way. Then the next time thru recovery just flush dalvik & reset permissions then.
Good JB Roms
Just wanted to drop a line for other non-devs who may be experimenting with JB Roms, and share my experiences. A couple months back, I was using only SilverL ROMS (swapping back and forth between CM 10 and AOKP). SilverL is doing some great work and still highly stable. I've been playing with tbalden's CM 10.1 rom recently though, because it is finally as stable as SilverL's and seems to have slightly better battery life and the camera seems sharper--also good video playback.
If you're looking for a more blingy ROM, WeekendsR2Short's recent PACMan release looks excellent, and has the coveted Rings widget as stock. I loved the look, but the settings UI was awkward with the split screen, and I kept having the settings crash if I tried to manage storage. Still, sweet ROM if you like the visuals over some (admittedly very minor) functionality.
All in all, I think all three of these devs deserve serious props for the progress they've made in these last short weeks. I am having a really hard time deciding between SilverL's AOKP (since I like the look) and TBalden's slightly more bulky CM10.1. I'm leaning toward tbalden just because I won't have to either splice in more ringtones or rely on SD access to get some decent ones. Arbitrary, I know. Kudos to all.
Cheers,
Wulf
P.S., on a side note, my 13-yr-old really wants to learn coding, and I thought AOSP or AOKP might be a good place to play. Any suggestions for getting him started?

Agreed, I've checked the forums on and off for months looking for stable daily driver mods without issues I felt would prohibit use of this phone compared to the stock roms, but the stuff out now with JB is damn usable. I've been using SilverL's unofficial CM10.1 for a little over 2 weeks myself as well, have seen little bugs already get fixed in that little time, and have almost 0 issues with it as a daily driver. Amazing, amazing work being done in this place. I'd been on stock GB fully locked non-rooted phone before this. Now that I saw more and more apps are finally requiring 4.X or higher I figured I'd check and see what's available here, and was not in the least disappointed! Kudos to all those involved in the hard work going on here!
The best rom is any stock optomized rom....at the same time sense gets dull and boring too look at so jb will liven it up but it will break features such as the crispy clean sense camera or internet passthrough fast boot time and others...depending on your outlook on things the best may be the one with more tweaks...or the most stable...all in all jb does things sense stock can't....sense stock also does things jb can't do...my battle is the sense camera...my how ide love it in a jb rom

Hi all,
I know there are some similar threads that address this, but I was hoping we could have one specifically for DS users who have been trying out the new ROMs to provide some ongoing input on what they have found to be their favourites and why.
I'm most interested in which ROMs have the least bugs, the greatest stability and the best performace. My current favourite is SenseMOD FlashONE v2.0.2, though it's close between that and PrimoS.
Having been on Endymion for quite a few months, I'm missing the features and all-round brilliance of that ROM, and am hoping lowveld is working on something But for now I am interested in testing the new releases and am enjoying the new UI and features of Sense 3.6/4 lite.
Please share.....
Thanks!!
Yeh primo-s........ or the new port from the russian version there is talk about within the primo-s thread
Right now, Primo S and FlashOne are your best choices. If you want to try something different, use AOKP by Tectas. Pretty awesome.
Off topic - You actually have your nickname after Endymion? Wow, lowveld really has something special there. Really hope he cooks up something for ICS soon....
Thanks a lot,
I searched for that, too :]
im running Tectas unofficial aokp and must admit i have been blown away by how efficient it is. makes the desire s an even better phone than before, think that the ics camera software has improved the shutter speed
Thanks guys, any input is appreciated, especially over the next few days/weeks, as the current ROMs see some improvements and some new ones appear.
I am back on Primo-S for now, might go back to FlashONE after the next update (being uploaded as I type this) but for now Primo seems the best.

Endymion has been the best ROM on here for some time in my opinion, I appreciate the AOKP/CM based builds, but prefer lowvelds releases, and would rather have Endymion instead of Reaper; there's only so much customisation I'm interested in doing myself, and with a ROM like Endy with it's own control centre on top of RC tweaks, that's about enough to keep me satisfied.
Lowveld is quiet on the FTL/Endy threads, I'm hoping that means he's at work on something
- jacmeister/shrome/other tectas aokp fans - what would you say were the advantages over the ROMs based on the virtuous leak, and also over something like Endymion?
I am not too bothered about cam use, as I only occasionally use my phone for pics/video. I'm most interested in speed/stability and an aesthetically pleasing UI Too much customisation options and I end up spending an unhealthy amount of time on my phone tho
Thanks!

The tweaks and customization options available are INSANE on AOKP!!!
It's so much fun to play around with the options, I hardly used any app on it when I field tested it!!

Wow wow, I need to try it out soon! I tried a really early version months ago, and it didn't differ too much from CM9.
I'm waiting for nk111 and his CM9 build with kernel 3.0, then hopefully Tectas can extract the boot.IMG for his AOKP ROM!

I agree...
The Customization Options on AOKP are amazing. But I want a real stable ROM for daily use. So hopefully the Kernel related problems will be eliminated now. I'm just waiting a few more days for a Real Stable Release and new Kernel in a AOKP Version

Let's just say i'm having a psychological meltdown to resist flashing those new V3 Roms , i'm on virtuous saga and i love it, not the snappiest nor the most responsive but i can live with that i guess ^^;
Surprisingly, i fell in love with the russian ported primo-s mentioned in primo-s thread. Nothing fancy. It is the original and pure sense4a. No tweaks, no mods, no rosie. Just exactly like in the One V. And i keep the menu button as recent apps, don't want to fix it. I find it easier than hold down home button as i switch between apps a lot. And did i mention it's very stable and buttery smooth?

My first android phone was the nexus one and have always got the nexus variant when it came out. But always preferred the build quality of HTC. Which is probably why I like Aokp on the DS so much as its like a more modern N1. But this tectas build is rock solid and the customisations are insane. Has been really snappy and nothing seems to be dragging or slowing down the phone functions. I will try this primo s rom soon just to compare

Appreciating the input on here
What are people's opinions on the new releases and updates? My current favorite is lowveld's Fallout, that's the one I've found to be the most enjoyable experience so far. Saying that, I haven't had the chance to try the latest htc-phones rom, which had a new update today and a further one planned for tonight/tomorrow, with the Full Sense4 experience.
As much as I'm enjoying these new roms, I have not found one that I am able to feel completely satisfied with; I am trying to decide whether to stick to Endymion for now and check back on the new releases (Fallout esp. ) without flashing for a while and wait for the range of mods and tweaks that are to come.
Endy provides me with everything I could ask for, but the Sense4 experience is enjoyable and it's good fun to be riding the wave of these new developments. For me though, it's kind of a trade off between the consistent greatness of Endy or the new and exciting, though rather limited, experience of Sense4.
I imagine those coming from CM9/AOKP to Sense4 must perceive its limitations to be greater than I do - are many people sticking with Sense4 from now on to watch its improvements, or would you prefer, like me, to TRY and wait for the customisations and tweaks that will appear in the coming weeks?
Apologies for the long post....

After trying Fallout, I'm never going back to Endymion! It's just the right combination of light, fast and beautiful. And ICS is the future anyway... so makes sense. Plus, all the magic that had to happen on Endy has already happened. It's got everything working, with nothing to fix. Fallout on the other hand is still to receive its goodies, and i need that flashing experience to satisfy the craving inside of me!!
I just saw this http://www.phonearena.com/news/ROM-brings-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-to-HTC-Desire-HD_id33380 from PhoneArena and it looks like this ROM is fully supported for the Inspire 4g. My wife won't let me flash any more ICS roms on her Inspire any more and wants to keep the latest stock debloated GB rom from AT&T since it's stable and fast. I was wondering if anyone had tried this rom or know of a better more stable ICS&Sense rom to try to convince to let me flash on it for her.
Here is the XDA link from PhoneArena http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531218
I would suggest that you read the last half of the posted pages, then make a decision, if you will look on the DHD forums, there are a few Sense 4 ROMS with most things working, all have a few bugs right now. It is just a matter of if you can live with a few quirks and update your phone as they get things fixed.
It's for his wife. It is best not to flash any ICS roms for now. Wait between two to four weeks if you want an ICS sense rom or the JB roms. There will be bugs and she is not going to be happy, they never are.
My assumption is that by then the ICS/Jb roms should have a minimal of bugs.
In the meantime read through the threads and check what you would like. I doubt she will show any interest for now.

Thank you, I have been reading the dev threads in the Inspire section and havn't seen many that are as stable as the one I saw on phone arena, I didn't know that the desire HD roms would work on the inspire 4g thought the Inspire had updated hardware on it, there seems to be a lot more ICS sense roms on the desire HD thread I wonder if they all work and how stable they are on the Inspire 4g. It would be easier if my wife would let me flash them to try them out but the 1st ICS rom I flashed had alot of things broken and were buggy and she got mad at me. Any info on a good stable ICS sense rom for inspire 4g would be great thanks again.
PS if the desire hd ICS sense roms work on the Inspire 4g why aren't they posted in Inspire threads?

Separate devices, separate threads. Every now and then they do post a rom in both threads.
Regarding the Roms over the dhd thread and compatibility - most of them come with the required files for them to work on the Inspire, or they would link what else needs to be flashed in the OP (Original Post - First Page), as some also do over here in the Inspire section. However, there is one rom that was released today (can't remember the name of it) which the sound (I believe it was the sound) won't work on the inspire. The menu button doesn't work on either of the devices, the inspire and dhd.
Regarding blackout, can't remember what the bugs were/are, but if you are not familiar with flashing I would stay clear from that one for a while. It needs to be flashed a certain way, quite easy - simply it consists of doing the full wipe within the aroma installer, when it finishes choose "no" when it prompts you to reboot - do a manual reboot and should work. And do not download from dev host.
The latest release from randomblame - B14, has sound issues. A previous version may work but I can't recall what bugs the other ones have. Same issue goes for - I believe it's B4 of the AOPK version.
There is one with wifi issues. Can't remember which one.
Those are the ones I remember from the top of my head and I haven't flashed any of those in a while. I just read silently, waiting for the bug reports to lessen.
I've been using several versions of the latest official Sense 3.0 release for our phone (which you can find in this thread) since it came out. I haven't tested any ICS/JB rom for a while. However, I did flash Existz BR6 today, and for the way I use my phone - it works without any issues. I link my google contacts, do the facebook sync to show with my phone contacts, whatsapp and the xda app and wifi, that's it. I received a call, it sounded good. It's fast, responsive, haven't been able to check battery life - but it's bound to be good. I did run BR5Test2 for a week or two, and for me to keep a rom that long it has to be either bug less or with a minimum of bugs. And that is, working out of the box since I still haven't learned how to play around with a rom to fix this or that.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I had the same issues with my girlfriend, and other members with their women. They will never be happy.
Edit: existz mentioned a bug regarding the keyboard keys sticking/lagging every now and then. I haven't experienced it yet, but the easiest fix - paraphrasing existz, is to lock and unlock the screen.
Just read the first couple and last 10-20 pages to have an idea about a rom.
Most of the bugs mentioned may and probably be ironed out with the next release.

I've been running Existz ICS ROM pretty much since it's inception (the Inspire is a secondary device for me) and it's done nothing but get better. I want to try the new Sense 3.0 roms, and the ICS/Sense roms once they are more stable, but I just can't let go of stock ICS.
I've experienced the keyboard bug, and it's annoying, but everything you type does appear even if you experience the bug.
ICS does have a few issues, but I'd like to point out that I'm using blackout and I haven't encountered any bugs yet :good:
I forget if bluetooth (after disabling it would cause phone problems or something) was fixed or not, same with wifi hotspot (after turning on wifi hotspot you would have to reboot to use normal wifi), but I don't use either so I haven't noticed it
Aroma installer seems to be causing some issues, you'll have to mess around with some settings to get everything to work well. A bad flash will have no boot image, just a black screen. A good flash will get you Blackout's boot image.
But otherwise it feels very snappy and fast, everything runs well and I'd say that it's pretty much the same stability of most sense 3.5/GB ROMs. Actually, I think it's a little smoother than Energy.
Following that XxxPachaxxX's Nero XL(3.6) has the second least amount of bugs (although with a big gap between Blackout), and a bit farther away is Virtuous a3 (4.0A). There are two more ROMs out (last I checked) that are just completely incompatible for I4g, but from comments seems to be just as stable as Blackout :/
Although I think in a month's time Sense and ICS will be just as stable as Sense and GB.
I've been using Blackout ROM with ICS and Sense 3.6 and it runs really great. I will keep it until a stable ICS with Sense 4.0 comes out there. I've seen a couple of them, but I normally read they have issues with camera/hotspot/etc. I had a non-sense ICS ROM but I really missed sense.
don't give up on ICS, go IceCold

I've been running Lord ClockaN's AOKP Ice Cold Sandwich 8.5 for a few weeks now and everything works great. FB Sync, 8MP Camera, Wifi, tethering, Bluetooth. The ONLY issue is that the camcorder only records up to 480p. If you just set it on 480p before you give it to her, she'll probably never change it.

I tryed giving her AOSPX ICS from existz and she wanted sense and since it was an early release there were quite a few bugs and I was in trouble :crying: but thanks for the input again any other suggestions would be great really looking for stable ICS or JB with Sense 3.6 or 4.0 I read this on the portal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826903 so maybe soon I can give it to her once the devs get that kernal working for their roms

Meh...
I've tried the Blackout ROM, so far everything is fine except for the WiFi, it's been very flaky on my phone. It's constantly telling me that the wireless network in my home is out of range, when I'm 10 feet from the router. Rather annoying... but it works other than that.

Yes I've read good things about that ROM but alas it is AOSP without sense and not what we are looking for now if a port of Sense 3.6,4a,or 4.0 were put on there that would be what we need
I'm going to try later tonight, but wanted to ask just to avoid any obvious problems. When I flash Blackout will I need to flash any type of Inspire MOD like for existz's ICS AOSP build? Any other tips or tricks I should know about before I take the plunge?
Thanks in advance.

When you flash blackout the aroma installer already has the inspire mods in it so you don't have to worry about the mod pack

Hey.
I've been on jb roms since they came out for desire s and have been using ics before that. However... ics roms have been in beta stage since ever and have not really advanced in terms of having stable or even working main functions. Well this is because of the fact that our devs did not have kernel sources. There have been words that kernel source release would solve all our major issues like front cam and others. But kernel source has been released and I'm seeing a decline in our forum's traffic and in development. I know i's partly due to many original members leaving. But I also hear that devs are facing difficulty in making the kernel. So I want to ask, will we ever have fully stable ics or jb roms or is this not a possibility?

Sorry for the tone, but this is a pretty pointless thread (IMO) there are already several others in a similar vein that exist and as we don't have a time machine and can't see into the future....although speculation appears to what the majority of threads contains these days....
This is now unfortunately an old device and as you rightly pointed out lots of the forums previous users have moved on to bigger and better new devices so the forum traffic was always bound to fall. We still have several devs that are developing for this device so don't do them a dis-service by suggesting that no progress has been made. Just look at the CM, AKOP and JB source build threads for examples.....
Since the release of the kernel source - progress has certainly been made, just look at the tweaked kernel we can now use, in which we are now able to UV & OC not to mention that the wifi tether issues are now resolved... everything takes time, so be patient....or learn to code yourself and help out!

I fully understand the devs' hard work and their dedications. That's not what this thread is asking. It seems to many devs that they are still having a hard time adjusting ics and jb to our device even upon kernel source release. Despite the prior speculation that things would be much easier with kernel source. So I was bringing the problem forth to see if it is possible for us to have stable ics or jb roms. No need to be all defensive. Just want an objective discussion

custom roms are rearly FULLY stable. there is always a little bug here and there. but since the release of the official ICS and the latest kernel source ICS roms are getting mature at last. and if you're still not satisfied, wait a month more. or flash the official ICS and have a really stable rom now.
JB is another story. there is no native kernel source for it and i doubt there will ever be.
I totally see where you are both coming from. The kernel source was released over a fortnight ago.
I agree with Ben, in respect we should appreciate what the current devs have given us etc etc,
But I also agree with skim, I am quite surprised that with the kernel source released, AOSP still hasn't got a functional kernel based on our Saga build. (Andromadus is using a kernel port)
I was hoping for at least ICS AOSP to be working by now, but I guess that is not the case
The forums have certainly gone a lot quieter now, and I suspect by the end of the year, even more of us will leave
But back to the original point, I wish that things could pick up like they were this time last year, but sadly that will never happen.
I have no intentions of insulting any devs, I truly appreciate the work they have provided us, and I haven't contributed anything particularly useful, so I am in no position to do so, but this is just how I feel.
When I look through forums like the S2, I envy the development... even after a year, ROMs are still on full scale, with so many choices to choose from...

Unfortunately Oly I don't think that you can compare the DS to the SGS2. We unfortunately were never a main stream device (like the SGS2), we sadly missed the boat, with the Sensation coming out shortly after our release, I reckon that the focus went from DHD to Sensation and the limelight never really shone on us long enough to get a main stream following.
The Samsung onslaught appears to unbeatable currently sadly even the One series hasn't really made a dent.
We must all accept the inevitable that our device (Desire S) is by fact outdated with the phase of how fast mobile technology comes. That said, sooner or later, our thread will surely die.
It is with great appreciation that our devs are prolonging the inevitable. Most will surely be having new devices comes these coming months. I too will be leaving the scene as a new device is surely coming at hand in two months time.
Everything in our life changes. One must be oblige to flow with it. If not, one will be left alone and at lost.
P.S.
For an answer for the OP. THERE WILL BE a stable JB/ICS ROM as long as a dev will be willing to still work on it. If not, then THERE WILL BE NOT.
Long answer short: we will never know unless there will be one.
Moral of this post: learn to accept the truth that you have to move on to a new device if you really want to have a stable up-to-date ROM, even past JB.

I think custom roms have advantages, but it's not easy for the devs to make them perfect.
If i compare the stock ROM of x10mini/pro with custom cm6/7 ROM, the stock ROM sucks...

At the moment i'm using stock rom (sense) too, cause my prefered custom rom has still a problem with battery drain...
As soon this is fixed, i'll go to ICS DS again...
But at all, the ICS stock rom is working very nice...
Fallout v4.4.0 is pretty stable to me, been using since a while now.
Tonight i'll try Fallout 5.0, let's see how it is... :highfive:
MIUI 2.8.x or 2.9.x
I recently flashed MIUI 2.8.17 and its been a joyful ride! It is very very stable. I had to reboot only once so far and that is an intermittent bug. BT/WiFi/Tethering/Camera etc. etc. everything works! (hard to find that in an ICS ROM)! Its my daily ROM now.. :good:
Fallout 5.0
I got myself S-off and rooted 2 days ago.
The first custom rom Ive tried is Fallout 5.0. Only one day into my test and it's very stable and fast compared to stock gingerbread.
I'm very pleased with it so far :good:

My Gingerbread stock rom experience made me root my phone. I kept getting the white screen with the green HTC logo and no matter what I did it always came back. I have now tried out about 5 or 6 custom roms and this issue no longer appears. Of course there are other issues, some of which are serious. But there are ROMs which are in general more than good enough for day to day usage. I currently use ICE-DSv5 but for example Fallout v4.4 is stable (v5 is not stable for me but it is for a lot of people).
If you are interested you can look at my other thread here called "My First Rooted Phone" for an overview of my experiences so far.
Blindbean and Codename are great JB roms, not fully stable, but good to work with.
Yes. I flash every recent roms so I know how they are. I started this thread to get an idea of if it is possible to have a stable rom. The devs have been struggling with major bugs since early this year and we're still stuck with the same bugs we had prior to the release of the kernel sources. I do know it is a difficult process. But wanted an answer from a dev. Is it possible for us to have working front cam, proper video playback, etc. ? This isn't complaining btw just wanted an answer other than "be patient. Be thankful. It's good enough"

if you want stable flash rooted stock. it has everything you mentioned. combine it with tweaked kernel and you have even more...
I had a hd2 and loved it but had to switch to G2X. I have been looking to root and maybe a cool rom. What is lastest and best ones out? Any help would be great cause I can't find it.
Duck for cover
You are about to get a load of disapproval dumped on you but I will answer your question anyway. You should have posted this question in the, wait, you guessed it, the G2X Q&A forum. Now to answer your question, it depends on what your priorities are. I had an HD2 running Typhoon's CM 7.2 based ROM. If retaining nearly 100% of the phone's original functionality and stability while adding a nice collection of CM based goodies, I would recommend HellFire Phoenix 2.3. It is based on CM 7.2 and has nearly all the Driver, Kernal and OS bugs ironed out. On the other hand, if missing out on all the benefits of ICS is too much to live without, I tried HellFire Sandwich, Eagle's Blood, Domination and Genesis but found AOKP to be the best option. Nevertheless, after about four months of being fully committed to riding the ICS train until they worked out all the problems from not having open source drivers or ICS kernel code I decided to go back to HellFire Phoenix for a change of pace. What an eye opener. My passion for pursuing all the benefits of ICS had blinded me to how much in the way of stability, battery life and buggy core functionality I had given up. Needless to say it has been about eight months and I swore I wouldn't go back to an ICS build until the drivers and kernel were released for ICS from LG. The great news is the sister phone called the LG 2X just got it's ICS drivers and kernal source release a week ago and the CM team has already started releasing early nightlies of CM10 for the 2X. Our G2X has essentially the exact same hardware so we are expecting or at least hoping for CM support in the next couple weeks. If you don't run over 100 apps like I do, don't mind having crippled video recording and a few annoying crash inducing bugs and want ICS now, try the latest AOKP build. What I think will make you happier is to run HellFire Phoenix until some reasonably stable CM10 builds for the G2X come out and then jump on those. Eventually, developers will KANG the stable CM10 build and then it is up to you were to go from there. Good luck.
Wow thank you so much!! That was very nice of you. Sent you a pm also...thanks again!

Take your pick but out of the vast number of roms we have the pleasure of using ive liked these the best and depending what you want they are in order of stability. Of course this is all dependant on your Baseband and kernel preference. Have fun
All the info you need to prepare your phone for custom ROM's is available in the sticky thread at the top of the G2X development forum. I strongly urge you not to take the shortcut of flashing Clockwork Mod from ROM Manager. That is a fake flash that is temporary and if you ever run into a boot loop you will have to jump through many hoops and wipe your device to recover. Do a full NV flash of Clockwork Mod. Good luck. For the record, I'm far from an expert. At most I'm an experienced consumer of the wonderful work of the XDA geniuses. They never cease to amaze me.
I forgot to mention Weapon 3.1 ROM in my original post. Unlike all the other ROM's which a were based on a Cyanogen, it is built on top of the stock ROM. I loved it for a long time but it had a problem with spontaneous reboots. Also, it hasn't been updated in over a year. It is a solid ROM and has the extra bonus of including the nice LG camera software but in the end I moved on to Cyanogen based ROMs.

Well for roms if you want something really stable get CM7 pretty much the best one out there, if you want some ICS go for paranoid android that's what I've been using for a while now I haven't had that many problems, but yeah for paranoid android build 12 is the newest one and for CM7 go on the cyanogenmod website for it.
