[Q] Got Wet!!!! - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

Hey guyz there is a prob pls help
Actually i was walking in the rain bcoz i had to reach early and all modes of transport were occupied so while walking my phone got wet and now the water is inside the screen
so any solution how to remove that water pls in a need..
and yes my mob hasn't been damaged or there isn't any prob just water in the screen....
Thank you for ur response

you can only disassamble your phone, but you should have tools for that and little experience. or just wait, maybe that helps

dude its ok
but try not to use ur phone for now
switch it off and keep it in an airtight jar of rice for a day
this sounds odd but works
the rice would soak up all the water in ur phone and phone would be good as new and never use a hair dryer to dry it
my mob fell in a tub of water and water was fully inside the screen
this worked like magic for me

i would recommend
put it under sunlight for half an hour(not direct)
once my nokia phone got wet and stopped working then that helped me out
:good:

Lets see i kept it in an air tight container of rice..
Hope it helps..
thanx fr your kind response

Can you click a photo, of how it actually is?
I didn't get that "water behind the screen" part...
Typed using a small touchscreen

Pls help me man..
Here's how it looks
I flashed the stock rom as i m thinking to show this in the gallery..
They might do something..
Hope for the best..
Waiting for your rply........

They'll need to open up your phone to remove that...
In all probability, they'll say that they need to change the screen (they don't actually need to that, but they know no **** so they just replace stuff)
Might cost you ~2500rs, as water damage isn't covered by warranty...
Typed using a small touchscreen

any other alternative??

Dude there is a straight forward method...open up all parts and keep your phone in front of ac for around half hour...and dont try hair dryer at all...and after tgat kepp it in a dry rice airtight container for atleast 4-5 more days...this is safest and sucessful method..worth a shot and your phone will be alright

Cleaning solutions?

Hi all. I have an odd problem. My darling child thought my Touch Cruse needed more juice so she watered it. I sent it back to the shoppe 3 times and I think they replaced the mobo all 3 times without listening to whats wrong.
Now it works but will not see the sim card. And it had "intermittent" other problems, like shutting on and off and not turning off when asked.
Is there something I can soak it in to clean it off? I was thinking cleaning naphtha or Iso, even distilled H2O? Something that wont kill it but will help clean it.
Thanks
Kip
You can use 90% isopropyl alcohol. I had good luck cleaning a mobo from a nokia with that.
Also
Should I take it apart or can I just let it sit in iso for a while?
Welcome to the forum
The best to absorb humidity is to submerge device in rice and leave it for 8hr or more in a dry closed can.
Hope it helps,
Or to dry device : those silica packs you get when you buy shoes, some clothes, and other various things (can't think strait now) you know what I mean anyways right? They are meant for absorbing moisture.

Thanks for the drying help, but...
This happened 3 or 4 months ago, it was juice and there is dried juice or sugar on it, not water, and I want to clean it, not dry it.
Any more help?

after you clean off the dried juice though, you really need to make sure it is dried good before using it or you could fry something. That is all

Phone gone wonky

Hi guys.. I was loving my phone until yesterday... I was on ics and the phone was super smooth..
Then my stupid cousin poured water oñ me..
Since then the touch has become very unresponsive.. I have to press many times just to type a small word..
Also, the phone randomly shows charging when it isn't çonnected to the charger!!!! Please help guys..
Sent from my Galaxy R
I think it is H/W issues better to take it Samsung Service Center.....
This is an hardware issue has happened with me. Your usb port must have gone faulty. When my usb port had water in it had to be changed and they charged me 2000rs for it they will have to change the entire usb component of otherwise the touch of your phone won't respond to correctly!!!
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda app-developers app
OK...but here's the funny bit... when I blow into the charging port (made sure I was only blowing dry air) the touch becomes as responsive as it was initially.. then returns back to its sad state in a couple of mins..
Screen shot attached shows it working fine after blowing..
I don't have a spare phone so giving it to ssc will be my last option..
Sent from my Galaxy R
Use hairdryer and blow hot air in usb port. It should solve ur issue.
Don't blow for long time it may make ur port very hot and can damage ur hw.

He said blowing DRY AIR, he didn't memtioned it was hot air which can vaporize wetness.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, but the hair dryer just isn't doing the trick...
Anymore tips guys? Should I try opening the phone? Would ssc know?

why are you taking so much pain ??
if ur phone is covered under warranty then let the ssc people do it..
but if u want to experiment, you are free to do so...!!
Okay... a friend suggested I keep my phone over night in a jar of rice to absorb the moisture.. if it doesn't work then I'm off to ssc tmr.. I won't open it up..
Thanks for the help everyone..
Btw: surprisingly, it works fine when on charging.. I'm really clueless to the cause of the issue..
Sent from my Galaxy R
If water has gone inside then ssc will come to know because there is a waste strip inside which detects inrush of water inside the phone. If they are charging you high for the same then u can always try by yourself but be careful.
Its a common trouble with galaxy r....i experienced a similar one and just gave to ssc they solved in 2 days they changed whole lcd screen and charging port and didn't charge anything....just dnt tell them abt water and other stuff and get back to GB before giving to ssc

[Q] Washing machine vs Nexus 5

So... my n5 was submerged into washing maching for at least 10-15 mins. and I'm using the traditional method, ( dip into rice bucket ) and leave it overnight, for the rice to absorb all the moisture and stuff. :crying:
I've remove the sim tray and cover n5 with rice.
I hope when I wake up later, it'll be able to work.
Is there any method I can restore the phone's files even if it is dead?
For example, using adb to control the phone?
Or better yet, if phone is able to boot, but screen is damaged, can it emulate the *image* to some software and we control from there or something?
Please give me all the possible solutions for getting the phone dry up or restore the files..
Update 1: sorry for not reading the main thread in General, was too furious.
When I wake up, tried to turn on, but fail. Then I went to remove the cover, there's water inside, then remove the screw and battery, there's water inside. After drying up everything, I put to rice again. Now I'm in office, hope my phone will wake up from deep sleep dead sleep later.
But still, any idea to recover the files inside the phone? I hope I don't damage the internal when I tried to turn on just now, how to check if battery or the motherboard is damaged?
Help please :crying:
up, updates.
Shouldn't really bump if it's been less than 24 hours. But, I'd leave it in the rice for two days. Overnight isn't long enough. Good luck!
If it starts up and you are unlocked and have a custom recovery you might be able to save files.

yes, its unlocked and have custom rec and custom ROM installed. I'm just hoping it could boot up or at least show some sign that its still half alive. I really need those files asap. I refuse to use my whatsapp in another phone. And it is my main source of connecting people other than calling.
I would use silica gel over rice

Sorry, but your device is now likely not to boot at all regardless what you try now.
Always , Always , Always open up the phone after a water immersion. Open , disassemble completely , rinse with IPA , then distilled water , then dry with a blow drier . Saved an iphone 3g , a samsung s2 , htc desire and desire x like this. My desire x ( after a 15 min dunk in the river ) still works - and it's been 2 years since then.
Rice doesn't work - at all in my experience. And just leaving the battery in for 24h means you have every chance to kill you phone.
Edit : data recovery will be IMO almost impossible without paying at the very least a few thousand dollars. If the EMMC is fried ad another order of magnitude to the bill.

Don't have and don't know where to get IPA at my country here, will search around later.
how in the world would it takes a few thousand dollars. thats insane!! damn.
Hopefully it'll show me some signal of the phone later when I got back from work. :fingers-crossed: But I have a bad feeling. Lol.
Anyway, thanks for your answer! Will note it down
Most of the time there's no chance of reading the NAND using the phone itself.
That means you need to desolder it ( extremely hard for Nexus 5 since it's epoxied as well , you need to mill the pcb from the back side until you reach the solder blobs ) , prototype a break-out board for it , interface it and read it. No one will give you any warranties for the success of the process.
A brand new NAND without glue , full datasheets and known protocol ? 300$ an hour with a 6 hour minimum.
Water damage + glue ? I never got a quote for that , but it's probably going to be 3000$ an hour - and it will take at least 2 hours just to mill the pcb off. Add another hour to clean it , 3+ hours to proto the board and either make it in-house or have it made at some pcb fab (though they won''t bill you for the waiting time if you are lucky ) , another hour to put the chip in , and countless hours to reverse engineer the protocol and get the data out - probably somewhat corrupted as well.
TLDR : unless you need 64bit variables for your income statement NOT worth it.
If the data stored on the phone is so damn important, why didn't you have a backup of it? Why was the only copy of this data on an easily lost, easily broken, unreliable storage medium in your pocket?
The problem with washing machines is you're not just dealing with water, you have some fairly serious soap too, and this is really what your concern is. Soap is alkaline and corrodes the traces inside the phone. You really need to immediately strip the phone down; rinse the phone thoroughly with distilled water and then dry well for a few days.
You should have just put it in the dryer after its wash

15 minutes , powered on at first in very conductive water ( soap+dirt+hot water) . It's too late for a rinse since I doubt there will be anything working in that phone anymore. Not to mention the mechanical action . If the battery wasn't in it might have survived , albeit with a lot of possible damage.
Ladies and gentleman. My phone survived.
Just plugged back everything, and it boots up. Thank god man. Now I jsut need to back up everything and extract the data out of it. Yay.

Considering it was in the washing machine, you didn't remove the battery, attempted to turn it on, then water came out when you finally opened it up..
You're lucky it has any sign of life at all.

Took out from w.s, turn it on, screen flashes > dip phone to rice for 8 hours > tried turn it on, nothing happens > remove cover and screws and everything > dry up water > dip to rice for another sweet 15 hours ( working + part time studies ), now reached home, assemble everything, turn it on, and WALLA!

Will probably need a main board replacement, water damage issues can creep in over time. You should have immediately turned the phone off when it got wet and let it dry for 24 hours before turning it back on. You may try leaving the phone in a bowl of rice or very dry place for a few days, not guaranteed to do anything though unfortunately

Yea use a heat gun. I pussyfooted with a hair dryer got scared to get it to hot i busted my back but im in a case n e ways. And now if need be i have easier accsess to battery if i decide to swap it.
And so people know what i did is i noticed some corosion on several fl3x cables. I used a qtip with wd-40 and dabbed them clean then 70% or more alcohol to dry. Mines goin on over a month now no issues. I had the dreaded not charging temp to high or low.
Why i was in there i used a method we use on the lgs and applied some arctic silver thermal paste to many of the chips to help disapate the heat better

You can always try placing the phone in some uncooked rice, and cover the phone with the rice too. Leave it in a warm place for a few days. Not a hot place, just some place warm like a drying cupboard etc.
The moisture gets sucked into the rice and your phone should dry out and will power on, assuming it's not already fried. Worth a try.
I agree.....
