[Q] mytouch 4g slide with 1.63.531.2 root? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Hello guys.
I have mytouch 4g slide and root with revolutionary for the first time and then update the phone to to version 1.63.531.2 (latest) from Hboot and i lost it all.
I Have unlock Hboot and s-off from revolutionary.
I would like to ask if it's possible to root at this version.
I am a noob be friendly ;D

S-off means you should be rooted. At most you will have to have su and a recovery.
*See why ota updates are no good?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2

When i press to go to the recovery it show me a ! .
The Revolutionary recovery it's lost.
My hboot version is 1.45.0013.

So your s-off still? I'm not really understanding what's going on. Why take an ota update full of road blocks rather than flashing a ROM
I have the revolutionary hboot and mines a different version. Also revolutionary isn't a recovery, but clockworkmod is

Yes i have s-off but i don't have the revolutionary hboot.
I think the s-off is still remain from revolutionary.
When i root my phone the revolutionary program ask me if i want to install a custom recovery.
I had the custom recovery from revolutionary
Now i Have nothing. When i press recovery showed me /!\

So go download a recovery. Rom manager has them
*another victim of one click root*
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2

I downloaded the rom manager and when i open the app it show me a message.
"you must root your phone for rom manager to function.
superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su".
use google search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone"

I think he needs to push clockwork mod recovery via ADB then flash su. After that he can go from there.

In the first post there's a section talking about getting your computer setup to ADB. Follow those instructions. Once ADB is set up type in su. Then type ADB devices. This should give you your serial number this is exactly what you want to see it shows that ADB is setup.
Now skip to the section towards the bottom of the post with a line break and the word fastboot ( it's like two paragraphs or so from the bottom). Follow the instructions to get superuser installed. Once superuser is installed start your phone and launch Play. Install ROM Manager. Launch ROM manager and grant superuser permissions when it asks for them. Tap on the install clockwork mod recovery tab. It will let you know if it installed successfully, you are home free. You get to play with the big kids now

OK i did it. install CWM and the superuser.
Thank you very much guys.

How about original stock and 1.63..... Can anyone help me on this root?

Can't flash the kernel...

Hi guys, I followed the guide on here to permanently S-off my phone and root it, so I'd be able to overclock it, change bootloaders, etc.
The guide worked fine, but when I try flashing the kernel it just aborts it. Both the cache and dalvik cache get cleared by clockworkmod, but it just refuses to do it. And then I have to restore my backup as clearing the cache somehow prevents WiFi from working.
Is there anything I can do to allow a kernel change?
Also, I've noticed that some apps like es file explorer and setCPU still think the phone's not rooted, even though I've been able to allow superuser access for an adblocker app.
Any ideas what's going on?

ok now that we know ur problem, help us out by being more specific, are u using a custom rom? if not did u root your phone? or just dl superuser.... which kernel? try dling it again cause it might be corrupt.... as long as the file is goood then u should hav no problem unless the zip isnt signed.... but other then that you should be able to flash any kernel u want, is your sd card working? it could be corrupt too, the best kernel i hav tried for the sensation is brickeddd
It says ship s-off mate.
And it's currently on the standard 3UK rom build 2.3.4, standard kernel. It's all stock apart from me following the guide on here to add clockworkmod and permanently s-off. The superuser app simply appeared once I'd s-off'd. And an adblocker already sees root access and is working and visible in the superuser list, but for some reason es file explorer and setCPU say it's not rooted.
That adblocker had a pop up window requesting superuser access, but the other apps don't, they simply say it can't.

I may be wrong is saying this but I believe you have to be ENG S-OFF in order to flash the Kernel?
Try flashing Hboot-1.17.2008 and see if you can flash the Kernel after that.
fastboot flash hboot hbootname.img
Do you have a download link for it, or is it easy to find on Google?
And what's the difference between ship s-off and eng s-off?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
My understanding is that Engineering S-Off is required in order to flash new radio's and kernels, Shipped is just what comes on the phone as default.
Link is http://www.multiupload.com/QPX0XVKUXQ Once you have downloaded it copy the file into the same folder as your Fastboot and then run the command above.
You need the ENG S-OFF to flash a radio using the fastboot commands but Revolutionary puts their HBOOT on which unlocks them so it shouldn't be an issue
To the OP, does it say 'Revolutionary' at the top of the HBOOT screen?

Did you use HTC's unlocking method that was posted here? If so, you need to use the fastboot from your pc in order to flash kernels. If you used the unlocking method by Revolutionary, you would see the work "Revolutionary" in a purple box and white letters spelling Revolutionary at the top of your bootloader page.
So i finished reading your post and it sounds like you used HTC's unlocking method. Post a screenie of your bootloader page for us.

That's because you didn't run Revolutionary 3 times. Ideally, the app is meant to reboot the bootloader 3 times but at present it doesn't (you get an error say it's lost communication). If you do't go through the process completely you'll get S-OFF but NOT the Revo HBOOT so fastboot commands will still be locked
For anyone interested, this is the guide I followed and did steps 1 to 3:

Hopefully it'll help you guys know exactly what I did, as I don't have a clue yet!

Download the hboot.img from the link provided. Place this into the same folder to which Fastboot is located.
Open a command prompt, browse to the Fastboot folder and type fastboot flash hboot hboot.img

[Q] hboot 1.23 and says s-off but locked

So i was in the middle of following the steps in the s-off and perma root thread and i ran into a problem. Hope someone here is nice enough to help me out.
So i ran revolutionary and everything went smooth. I already had the clockwork mod zip in the root of my sd card so i just rebooted the phone into hboot. When i went into hboot it detected the pg58img file and ran it, it prompted me if i wanted to update and so i did. It rebooted the phone and then i went back into hboot. The hboot said it was 1.23 and said Locked instead of Revolutionary as it displayed previously.
When i try to run the pg58 file in hboot an error occurs and said it is not compatible and only asks me to power off. So now at this moment it displays 1.23 version of hboot and s-off and says locked.
What can i do after this point? Any help i can get would be fantastic, thanks.
You're still good.
You're locked out of some of the most advanced fastboot commands. But that's it.
You still have S-Off. ADB will still work. You can flash ROM's. Etc etc etc....
It's a known problem. But it's not really a problem.
It's not like you divided by zero and destroyed the fabric of the universe or anything.
This is a noob question but how would i install clockwork recovery? I thought i would try dl from market but it said i didnt have root permission(obviously)
Is there a thread that has a solution to my issue or maybe you can quickly guide me out of this? lol Just kind of confused as to what i should do next lol.
Look in the development section for a thread called guide to s-off.
Skip the s-off part since you've done that.
Go right to the part about installing recovery. Following the directions. It's incredibly easy. It'll take about 3 minutes.
Once you have clcokwork recovery you can flash custom ROMs. You don't actually have to root the stock ROM. (Though you should make a backup of it just for kicks. You can do it all through clockwork recovery)
Yea I tried it multiple times already. I have the pg58 file in the root of the sd and when i go to the hboot it says
"Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot."
Thats the only option it gives me so i am not able to install clockwork recovery.
Do you have SuperCID?
no i do not, would that fix the issue? i thought that is just for installing any rom on the device. My issue is that i cant get recovery to work.
I would think that is the next step after i run the perma root zip.

It should. Follow the SuperCID instructions here. Then update your firmware via the bootloader with this package that rmk made. It includes ClockworkMod Recovery.

He doesn't have use of Fastboot commands. I am pretty sure they are needed for super CID. Let me check.
He can't super CID as Fastboot commands are used.
Have you tried to run the correct RUU.exe? I think that would change back your h boot. There are zips in the development section you can use to downgrade but you may need super CID to use them.

Okay, I am not near a pc atm so I cannot look where they are located, if you have the adb tools you also need another program called Net Framework installed on your pc.
Make sure your phone is powered onvand usb debugging checked when plugged into pc. I find it easiest to hold the mouse over the adb tools folder, press alt & ctrl keys and right click on the mouse and choose open command window here. Now type the command "adb devices".
Good luck.

First boot can take 10 minutes to load as the Davilk cache is being recreated. Also, did you perform a full wipe first and check the Md5 checksums, make sure your downloaded ROM is not corrupt.

Hi there! this worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496
another method
first unlock bootloader through htcdev.com it isn't a big deal
make sure you have installed android sdk
download recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-saga.img and Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip I've attached it
(rename recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-saga.img to recovery.img)so you can flash it easily
than download android fastboot tools I've attached it
extract the fastboot-tools.zip to lets say C:\android
check out the 11.jpg
now turn on your phone into bootloader to do that push volume button down and power button than go into fastboot and plug your phone into usb
than run command and go to folder that you created lest say cd c:\android
than type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
done you've installed clockworkmod recovery
Now it's time to root your phone.
put Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to sdcard root folder means just move it sdcard no subfolder
start your phone into cwm recovery to do that turn of your phone and again press volume down and power button
than scroll to recovery via volume up and down button than push power button when recovery highlight
and cwm will start up than select install zip from sdcard go to the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and select yes
phone is rooted

In my opinion it is in any way better to s-off and not unlock with htcdev. anything you do will be much more easier when s-off (for example flashing ROM, no need to flash boot.img separately...) And also there's a bigger chance of voiding your warranty when using htcdev.

[Q] HTC Sensation Recovery problem

hello,
i searched for half a day now and havent found any answers to my problem. i guess this may have been posted somewhere else before, so pls excuse me for asking.
i have an unbranded sensation xe from uk and i got the ota ics update 2 days ago.
i rooted it before the update with revolutionary. for the update is searched a little bit cause it did no work the first time, because of the custom recovery(i think- pls excuse me if thats not all correct, but i am a bit of a noob in theses things) so i reverted to stock bootloader and recovery and did the update.
i saw that not all was running good as it should-maybe because i did the update over my existing GB stock rom without any wiping.
so i thought i could install a custom ics rom intead of the stock(what i could have done month before, without waiting)
as i realized that root apps did not find any root permissions i thought there could be something wrong.
after my reserch today i found that i have
locked stock hboot 1.27.0000
s-off
stock recovery.
i am not able to flash any custom recoveries and gain root access in any apps.
i tried to root it again and get all the stuff needed to install a custom rom, but unfortunately revolutionary does not work with hboot 1.27.0000. and all my attempts to get a custom recovery (adb, flashable zip, rom manager) failed.
adb says access denied
hboot flash says: wheater nothing (does not flash the .zip at all or does nothing after flashing) or wrond device id. i checked my cid (its HTC_001), which is in the text file.
rom manager has no root rights.
whats going on? please help me. i cant find anything more to get that working.
Sounds like you are flashing a PG58IMG recovery. What exactly does it say when it fails? You'll need the recovery to flash superuser in order to give root permissions to apps...

with the PG58IMG.zip file it says nothing without showing any boot with power button after flashing or it says failed because of different device id
exactly it says:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press Power to reboot.
i still have SU installed from before the update and it gives SU permissions to Titanium Backup for the automated backup. but when i open the app it denies the SU rights.
i thougt the S-Off means that i am rooted? is that right?
S-off doesn't mean you are rooted.
Open the PG58IMG file. inside you will find android-info. Edit this file with your MID (model id) then it should work.
If you don't know your mid, dowload terminal emulator from market and give this command: getprop ro.mid
Once you have custom recovery, you can download and install the su binary from here
Install also superuser and busybox from market.
Hope it helped.

Try to root with S On & *locked* using the rooting method in my tool.
I believe Busybox & SU is being installed, but the binaries are not present.
You can try and see if it works for you.
I'm trying to get it to work on S On & *locked* devices.

The only error is that the file doesn't exist for S On & *locked* users, although I can't confirm if this because this is true I've only heard about this from a couple of users.
The rest of the tool is bug free.
If you want to install a custom ROM then you will have to do either one of the following:
Use HTC Dev Unlock & Stay S On.
S Off without voiding your warranty. and then continue with this tutorial from step 1
Now, for the second method, you can also use my tool.
And frankly, because you are starting from scratch, the tool will make everything easy. Here's the options that you need to select:
First, S Off.
then Install 4EXT Recovery
then Install Firmware
then download your ROM & Install by selecting install ZIP from recovery.

Yes, once you are HTC Dev unlocked, you can. If you can't install the recovery, new version of the tool in a few minutes, which will make it possible.

I was in your state as well. I was trying to see wait whether Revolutionary.io would produce a newer version for the HBOOT 1.27. But I got tired of waiting and just went on to use other methods. In the beginning, it's a bit confusing. It took me a while to understand everything. But once you follow the steps, everything should become more simple.
A problem that I encounter was install 4EXT Recovery. I couldn't install it at first. I just install Clockwork's Recovery and flashed the ROM I picked. Then I went ahead and downloaded the apk for the 4EXT Recovery and install it from there. It was troublesome in the beginning, but it was well worth it.
My suggestion is that you should do HTC Dev Unlock first. Then S-OFF.
